How to protect ourselves in an earthquake
Earthquakes are very terrible. It is very important for us to know some ways to protect ourselves from earthquakes.
If we are inside a building when an earthquake happens, we should stay away from windows and heavy furniture at once. We can hide under a strong table and protect our heads. We mustn’t jump from high buildings or use the lift, because it’s really dangerous.
If we are outside, we should move to clear and open areas quickly and get away from tall buildings, trees and power lines. We shouldn’t stand under trees or stay near tall structures.
Besides, we should always keep calm in an earthquake. Keeping calm can help us make the right decisions to keep safe.

pour:v.
pale:adj.
blow:不规则动词,变形为blow → blew → blown,固定搭配blow harder and harder。
gather:v. 聚集;同义词come together,易混词get together(聚会)。
stay away from 主动躲避危险,后接名词 / 代词;易混keep away from(保持距离)。
step out of 从封闭空间离开;易混get out of(摆脱;从……
I was doing sth. when...
2.remember doing sth.
易错点:标志词(at 8 o'clock yesterday 等)、when/while引导从句的用法辨析。
2. 形容词最高级:the nearest 前必须加the,常搭配范围(in/of...),本课时表距离最近。
(Before → During → After the storm),用suddenly, then, finally, luckily串联事件,可作为记叙文写作模板。

Yesterday I had one of the most terrible experiences of my life. A storm woke me up early. I got up and looked out of the window of our hotel. I listened to the thunder and watched the lightning. It wasn’t scary at that time— it was exciting!
But then I looked at my phone and saw the news that a hurricane was coming. I asked my dad what a hurricane was and asked him if he knew what to do. He told me not to worry because a hurricane was just a big storm. We stayed in our hotel room and by the afternoon, there was even more rain. And the winds were getting stronger and stronger.
In the evening, a hotel worker asked all the visitors to go to the dining hall. When we were all inside, we put tables in front of the doors and then we got down on the floor together in the corner. We waited and waited. The winds got louder, the rain became heavier and then it suddenly went dark. I was so scared that I held my dad’s hand. We stayed there for a long time.
Finally, morning arrived. The storm was over. I felt so happy that we were safe. I hope I will never have a night like that again.
