内容正文:

阅读组合训练三 英语九年级全册 一、短文阅读 Different countries have different customs. When you are in different countries, you should follow the customs there. In China, you are not supposed to start eating first if there are older people at the table. 阅读组合训练三 In the United States, very often people who travel there forget to tip(给小费). It is usual to tip waiters, taxi drivers, and porters who help carry your bags at a train station, airport, or hotel. Waiters expect to get a fifteen percent tip on the cost of your meal. Taxi drivers expect about the same amount. 阅读组合训练三 In England, you can see people standing in line almost everywhere—at the bus stop, in a bank, in the post office, in the doctor's waiting room, and so on. So, when you are in the UK, make sure to wait in a queue even if there are only two of you. It's a good idea to talk about the weather there. It's a favorite subject of conversations with the British. 阅读组合训练三 In Spain, it's a good idea to have a light meal in the afternoon if someone invites you for dinner. People have dinner very late, and restaurants do not usually open until 9:00 p.m. In Saudi Arabia, men kiss one another on the cheek(脸颊). Your host may welcome you with a kiss on both cheeks. It is polite for you to do the same. 阅读组合训练三 In Japan, people usually give personal or business cards to each other when they meet for the first time. When a person gives you a card, don't put it into your pocket right away. The person expects you to read it before you put it away. Don't forget to be careful of your body language when you express something in conversations. A kind of body language that is acceptable in one culture may be impolite in another. 阅读组合训练三 ( )1. We all like to begin the year in a good and healthy way, and that idea is true of our pets, too! Just like us, they need regular(定期的) exercise and to get out in the fresh air. 阅读组合训练三 “In the UK, we're a nation of dog lovers,” says the website, History Workshop. It points out that the first dog shows took place in the mid19th century Britain. Just as the late Queen Elizabeth Ⅱ loved her corgis(柯基犬), many people in the UK love to have a dog. My mom always had chihuahuas(吉娃娃). We gave them silly names like Cherub and Daisy. They were sweet, caring, funny, and naughty(淘气的). 阅读组合训练三 At one time, we had six chihuahuas! We took them out for walks every day. But they were not very outgoing. If anyone came near, they'd all bark(吠叫). This was their way of guarding against danger. Our dogs were very much a part of our family. So much so that when my mom wrote birthday cards for us, she'd sign them from the dogs, too. My dad would even give them some of his tea! 阅读组合训练三 It takes responsibility to look after dogs. But they can be caring pals. When my brother, sister, and I all left home, the dogs were there to stay with my mom. Just as she looked after them, they looked after her, too. A dog truly is a man's best friend. 阅读组合训练三 1.What do dogs need to stay healthy, according to the first paragraph? ____________________________________________________________________________________ 2.When did the first dog shows take place in the UK? _____________________________ Dogs need regular exercise and to get out in the fresh air to stay healthy.
