Forest bathing is a Japanese practice called "Shinrin-yoku", which means spending time in a forest to relax your mind and body. ② The idea started in Japan in the 1980s. Scientists found that spending time in nature could reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and improve mood. When people walk slowly through a forest and pay attention to what they see, hear, and smell, their bodies begin to relax. Studies show that forest bathing can even strengthen the immune system (免疫系统). ③ How do you do forest bathing? It's very simple. First, find a quiet forest or park. Leave your phone in your bag. Don't walk fast or try to exercise. Instead, walk slowly and use all your senses. Look at the green leaves. Listen to the birds singing. Smell the fresh air. Touch the tree bark. You can also sit down and just stay still for a while. The key is to be fully present in the moment. ④ Many schools in Japan and other countries now take students on forest bathing trips. Teachers say students become calmer and more focused after spending time in nature. Some hospitals even have "forest therapy (治疗)" programs for patients. Doctors believe nature can be as powerful as medicine. ⑤ You don't have to go to a big forest to try forest bathing. A small park or even a garden with trees can work. The important thing is to disconnect from screens and connect with nature. So next time you feel stressed, try spending 20 minutes in a green space. You might be surprised by how much better you feel. 21. What is "forest bathing" according to the passage? A. Taking a bath in the forest. B. Swimming in a forest river. C. Spending time in nature to relax. D. Collecting leaves in the woods. 22. When did forest bathing start in Japan? A. In the 1960s. B. In the 1970s. C. In the 1980s. D. In the 1990s. 23. Which of the following is NOT a benefit of forest bathing mentioned in the passage? A. Reducing stress. B. Building muscles. C. Improving mood. D. Strengthening immunity. 24. What is the key to doing forest bathing? A. Walking fast. B. Using your phone. C. Being fully present. D. Exercising hard. 25. What can we infer from the last paragraph? A. Only big forests are good for forest bathing. B. You need special training to try forest bathing. C. Spending time in any green space can be helpful. D. Forest bathing only works in Japan. C Do you know where your food comes from? Most people would say "the supermarket" or "the restaurant". But have you ever thought about the long journey food makes before it reaches your plate? Food waste is a huge problem around the world. According to the United Nations, about one-third of all food produced for people is lost or wasted each year. That's about 1.3 billion tons of food! Meanwhile, nearly 800 million people go to bed hungry every night. Here are some surprising facts about food waste: In rich countries, most food waste happens at home. People buy more than they need and throw away food that is still good to eat. In poorer countries, most food is lost before it even reaches stores — during farming, transport, or storage. Fruits and vegetables are wasted more than any other type of food. Wasting food also wastes water, land, and energy used to grow and transport it. So what can we do? The good news is that there are many simple ways to reduce food waste: Only buy what you need. Make a shopping list before you go to the store. Don't be fooled by "buy one get one free" deals if you won't eat the extra food. Learn to store food properly. Many fruits and vegetables stay fresh longer if you know how to keep them. For example, tomatoes should not go in the refrigerator. Use leftovers creativly. Yesterday's rice can become today's fried rice. Old bread can become breadcrumbs. Share extra food. If you have too much, give it to neighbors or a food bank. Support food-saving apps. Some apps connect people with restaurants that have extra food at the end of the day. Remember: Every small action counts. When you finish everything on your plate, you're not just saving food — you're saving the planet. 26. What is the main problem discussed in the passage? A. It helps you build better friendships and understand people more deeply. Here are some practical tips. Make eye contact. When someone is talking to you, look at their eyes. This shows that you are paying attention. It doesn't mean you have to stare — just natural eye contact. Don't interrupt. Wait for the person to finish speaking before you respond. Interrupting makes the other person feel that you don't care about what they're saying. Show that you're listening. You can nod your head, say "I see" or "Uh-huh", or use facial expressions to show you're following along. These small signs encourage the speaker to continue. Ask questions. This shows that you are truly interested. You can ask for examples or more details. But don't turn it into an interview — keep it natural. Repeat what you heard. After the person finishes, you can say something like, "So what you're saying is..." This helps make sure you understood correctly. It also shows that you really listened. Put away your phone. This is very important in today's world. When your phone is out, the speaker feels that you care more about your screen than about them. Being a good listener takes practice. But the more you do it, the better you will become — and the more people will enjoy talking with you. 46-48. Fill in the blanks according to the passage.
