Dear teachers and classmates,
It’s my great honor to give a speech on “Green Life, Youth in Action”. The earth is our only home. Environmental protection is crucial for our survival and well-being. Without it, we’ll face disasters like extreme weather.
In daily life, we can take action. Walk or ride bikes to cut carbon emissions. Reuse water from washing vegetables to water flowers. Use reusable bags and bottles to reduce plastic waste.
I imagine a future with carbon neutrality—clearer sky, cleaner rivers, and fresher air. Let’s act now for this green future!
Thank you!

Mr. Kent’s students cared about a hurricane (飓风) in Mexico. The wind blew trees over and damaged houses. In the heavy rain, houses and streets were flooded. The class discussed what they could do to help people there. “They’ll need blankets (毯子) to keep warm,” Melanie added. “I have a new blanket and a ton of clothes. We can send those to people in Mexico,” said Brett. “Brett, that’s brilliant!” said Ava, “you, Melanie and I, and anyone else in the school, can bring in our extra clothes and blankets to help people in Mexico.” The students talked to Mr. Kent about how they could collect clothes and blankets. Some kids were going to put up signs saying “Blanket Drive”. Other kids were writing a newsletter. Everyone was going to ask their friends and relatives for clothes and blankets. Brett was put in charge of stacking all the clothes and blankets in the gym.
News of the Blanket Drive spread, and people living all over the city brought in more clothes and blankets. Everyone in town was talking about the Blanket Drive. The local television station sent a camera crew (摄制组) to the school. The reporter wanted to know whose idea this was.
Finally they found Brett in the gym, over thousands of blankets and pieces of clothing. The interviewer said to Brett, “This was a brilliant idea. You must be very proud of yourself for thinking of it.” Brett looked at the mountain of clothes behind him and then looked back at the camera. “No,” Brett said considerately. “We had a lot of clothes and blankets, and those people in Mexico really need them. We’re just trying to help. It’s simple.”
5.Why did students collect clothes and blankets together?
A.Because they cared about a hurricane.
B.Because they thought about what they could do.
C.Because they wanted to help others.
D.Because they wanted to show their love.
6.Which word has a similar meaning to “considerately” in the last Paragraph?
A.Proudly. B.Thoughtfully. C.Happily. D.Confidently.
7.What did they do for the people in Mexico?
① Making signs. ② Asking for more help.
③ Trying to help. ④ Calling the television station.
A.①② B.③④ C.②④ D.②③
8.What can we learn from the story?
A.A friend in need is a friend indeed. B.We should always think of others.
C.Love makes the world go round. D.Life is a two-way journey.
【答案】5.C 6.B 7.A 8.C
Kent’s students cared about a hurricane (飓风) in Mexico.”以及“The class discussed what they could do to help people there.”,说明学生们收集衣物和毯子是因为他们想帮助受飓风影响的人们。
7.第二段提到“Some kids were going to put up signs saying ‘Blanket Drive’.”,对应①;第二段还提到“Everyone was going to ask their friends and relatives for clothes and blankets.”,即寻求更多帮助,对应②;而③“Trying to help”是整个活动的目的,不是具体做法;④“Calling television”电视台是主动来采访的,并非学生们打电话叫来的。
C
Every summer, 3 billion birds migrate (迁徙) from southern Africa to Europe. In winter, they return to Africa’s warmer coasts. Both large and small birds travel thousands of kilometers. The migrating trip is long and difficult, and some of the animals die during the trip. However, it is not this twice-a-year trip that offers the most serious danger to these animals. The main problem of their survival (幸存) is from people. All over the Mediterranean (地中海), millions of birds are killed for food, selling and sport every year. As a result, birds’ number is dropping all over the Mediterranean.
Countries over the Mediterranean have known this, and decide to make changes. Many European countries stop people from killing migrating birds. Across the Mediterranean, Nature Conservation Center is working to increase protection of its country’s wildlife, including migrating birds. As part of the project, the group is trying to develop activities such as eco-tourism (环保旅游) along the coasts. The hope is that, when more tourists come to visit protected natural areas, there will be a kind of chance for local people to care for the birds and their habitats (栖息地).
Wildlife organizations around Mediterranean are helping to bring about changes, “Hunting bans (狩猎禁令) are working,” says Martin Jacoby, a bird expert. But there is still more to do. Environmentalists hope to stop hunting and protect bird habitats all over the Mediterranean. If this can be done, the birds’ number will increase. “There is a long way to go,” Jacoby says, “but just like after a long trip in the desert, there will be an oasis (绿洲).”
9.What’s the biggest danger to migrating birds?
A.Food. B.People. C.Weather. D.Water.
10.What does the underlined word “this” in paragraph 2 refer to?
A.The migrating trip is long and difficult.
B.Millions of birds are killed for food, selling and sport every year.
C.Birds’ number is dropping all over the Mediterranean.
D.Many European countries stop people from killing migrating birds.
11.What does Martin Jacoby in the last paragraph mean by saying “but just like after a long trip in the desert, there will be an oasis”?
A.They will build an oasis in the desert for migrating birds.
B.Protecting migratory birds is not as difficult as it seems.
C.The hunting bans are not working well and need to be improved.
D.Although the road to protecting migrating birds is long, there is still hope.
12.What could be the best title of the passage?
A.Birds in Danger over Mediterranean. B.Hunting Bans around the Coasts.
C.More Care, More Migrating Birds. D.Dangers from Nature in Birds’ Migration.
【答案】9.B 10.C 11.D 12.A
根据“However, it is not this twice-a-year trip that offers the most serious danger to these animals. The main problem of their survival is from people.”
根据“As a result, birds’ number is dropping (下降) all over the Mediterranean.”可知,第二段开头的“this”指代的是第一段末尾提到的“birds’ number is dropping all over the Mediterranean” 即整个地中海地区的鸟类数量正在下降。故选C。
根据“but just like after a long trip in the desert, there will be an oasis.”
A“Birds in Danger over Mediterranean”即“地中海地区的鸟类处于危险之中”最能概括文章内容。故选A。
D
In 2025, Guangxi faced a serious drought. No one in Guangxi ever imagined facing such a terrible drought. It changed our green, rainy home into a dry and dead place. From the beginning of November 2024 to May 2025, there was hardly any heavy rain here. Only light rain fell on the ground sometimes. This was the lowest since 1961.
____▲____ A weather event called La Niña sent strong winds from the north over Guangxi. Also, the high-pressure system kept wet air away, so it was hotter and less rainy.
The unusual drought affected people’s drinking water and crops. Thousands of people didn’t have enough water to drink, and large areas of crops were dying. Many cities like Nanning and Guilin, along with lots of counties (县), had drought problems. In Guigang, some small water pools even had no water left.
The government tried its best to help. They dug many new wells (井) for water and did cloud seeding (人工降雨) many times. The government used a large amount of money to solve the problems, such as rebuilding farms, buying water tools and sending water. These made sure people had enough water until the rains came. In June, it rained a lot, and the land turned green again.
Guangxi’s drought tells a truth: Nature is like a magic box full of surprises. Just when we think we understand it well enough, it suddenly shows us something we didn’t expect. It reminds us that no matter how much we study and prepare, nature always has its own rules and ways of working.
13.How long did the drought in Guangxi last?
A.For 3 months. B.For 6 months. C.For 7 months. D.For 9 months.
14.Which sentence should we put in “ ▲ ” in Paragraph 2?
A.Why did this happen?
B.Where can we find more water?
C.What can we do during the drought?
D.Who had the biggest problems during the drought?
15.Which way did the government NOT use to fight against the drought?
A.Doing cloud seeding. B.Buying water tools.
C.Building more houses. D.Digging new wells.
16.What is the best title for the text?
A.A Story of La Niña in Guangxi B.A Drought in Guangxi
C.The Rainy Season in Guangxi D.Nature Is like a Magic Box
【答案】13.C 14.A 15.C 16.B

From the beginning of November 2024 to May 2025, there was hardly any heavy rain here.,广西的干旱从2024年11月初开始,到2025年5月结束,共持续了7个月。
A weather event called La Niña sent strong winds from the north over Guangxi. Also, the high-pressure system kept wet air away, so it was hotter and less rainy。
They dug many new wells for water and did cloud seeding many times to keep increasing the rainfall.”

Nowadays, artificial intelligence (AI) tools have become more and more popular. Many students are starting to use them for schoolwork. These tools are fast, easy to use, and always online. But are they really helping students learn better?
17 First, it can save a lot of time. For example, if a student doesn’t understand a science question, they can ask an AI to explain it in simple words. If they are writing an article and don’t know how to start, AI can suggest some topic sentences. 18 Second, AI is great at doing boring or repeated tasks. It can check spelling, fix grammar, and even help organize ideas.
However, there are also disadvantages. One big problem is overuse. Some students copy answers from AI without thinking or understanding. This is not real learning. In fact, it can make students lazy. Another problem is accuracy (准确性). 19 Sometimes the information is outdated or unclear. Students may believe the wrong facts if they don’t double-check. Also, when students use AI too often, they may forget how to write in their own words. Their schoolwork might all start to sound the same.
20 The key is to use AI wisely. Use AI to learn better, but always think for yourself. Ask questions, check facts, and practice real writing. That’s the smart way to grow in the AI age.
A.So, what should students do?
B.AI tools don’t always give right answers.
C.AI is useless for the students’ schoolwork.
D.In these ways, AI can be a learning helper.
E.There are several advantages (优点) to using AI.
【答案】17.E 18.D 19.B 20.A
17.根据下文“First, it can save a lot of time.”以及“Second, AI is great at doing boring or repeated tasks.”
18.根据前文“For example, if a student doesn’t understand a science question, they can ask an AI to explain it in simple words. If they are writing an article and don’t know how to start, AI can suggest some topic (话题) sentences.”
19.根据上一句“Another problem is accuracy (准确性).”以及下一句“Sometimes the information is outdated or unclear.”
20.根据下文“The key is to use AI wisely.”以及“Ask questions, check facts, and practice real writing.” 故选A。
One of my earliest memories is playing “shops” with my grandpa when I was 5 years old. After 21 school at 15, I worked in a fruit shop, but I had no idea of how to run my own shop back then.
Several years later, I got married. My husband Eric and I heard about a shop for sale in the nearby village. We had a look and decided to have a shop of our own. That was January 1973. Shopkeeping was 22 to us, so we often didn’t know what the 23 were asking for. But we soon learned.
We can tell by the weather how 24 the shop is going to be. On wet days there are very few people around, and when it’s snowy, people want bread and milk. When it’s hot, everyone buys cold drinks and ice cream.
More people shop online nowadays, but they still come here for things 25 from their order. I’ve kept up with technology and have a card reader, but the shop itself hasn’t changed much.
Now, as I’m getting older, I have 26 the opening hours. It’s open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays instead of closing at 8:30 p.m. However, I keep it open until 2 p.m. at weekends.
Eric passed away 16 years ago, but I am 27 getting rid of (处理掉) the shop. I love talking to the customers and getting 28 they want.
It was the 50th anniversary (周年纪念日) of the shop this year. I held a party and also wrote a book about my memories in the shop. It’s called Just Ask Jenny, as I’m always ready to help when anyone wants to know 29 .
This shop has been my life. I never 30 I’d still be here after 50 years, but I love it and have no plan to retire (退休).
21.A.attending B.leaving C.visiting D.changing

24.A.quiet B.busy C.full D.popular
25.A.different B.free C.missing D.cheap

27.A.always B.often C.never D.sometimes
28.A.how B.when C.where D.what
29.A.anything B.everything C.nothing D.something
30.A.felt B.hoped C.thought D.worked
21.B 22.A 23.D 24.B 25.C 26.B 27.C 28.D 29.A 30.C
根据后句“I worked in a fruit shop”可知,作者当时已经开始工作,应用leaving表示“离开(学校)”。
根据空后“we often didn’t know what the…were asking for”可知,作者和丈夫当时缺乏经营经验,应用new表示“全新的”。
根据后文“On wet days there are very few people around”可知,此处在讨论生意的冷清与繁忙的对比,应用busy表示“繁忙的”。
根据空后提到营业时间变为了“7 a.m. to 6 p.m.”,且替代了以往“closing at 8:30 p.m.”
根据后文提到“I love talking to the customers”以及作者“have no plan to retire”可知,作者非常热爱并打算坚守这家店,应用never表示“从不”。
根据文中“I love talking to the customers and getting…they want.”
根据前文作者出书分享记忆以及“I’m always ready to help when anyone wants to know…”
根据文中“I never…I’d still be here after 50 years, but I love it…”

主语The painting与动词create是被动关系,且in the Song Dynasty表示过去时间,因此用一般过去时的被动语态。
根据than表示比较,需用many的比较级more。

One of my earliest memories is playing “shops” with my grandpa when I was 5 years old. After 21 school at 15, I worked in a fruit shop, but I had no idea of how to run my own shop back then.
