Lead-in 1.Have students brainstorm and answer the following questions: What table manners do you know in Chinese restaurants? What other table manners do you know? 2.Have students watch a video about the chopsticks. Step2. Pre-writing 1.Read and answer Have students read Amy’s notes in Part D1 on page 75 and answer the questions: ·Before writing an article about good manners, what can we do first? ·How does Amy organize her ideas on good manners? 2.Read and think Have students read Amy’s article in Part D2 on page 76 and work out the content and structure of the article. 3.Read and appreciate Have students read each paragraph and appreciate it. para1. Why does Amy write the article? Can you think of a different expression? para2. Why are these table manners important in China? para3.What should we do if a friend invites us to dinner? What do the underlined words mean? para4. Why should we follow these rules? What does Amy think of the advice? 4.Think and conclude Have students think and answer: What makes a good article? Step3. Writing 1. Have students write about good dining hall manners and list the main points first. 2. Have students write their own articles based on the outlines they have created. 3.Checking Have students check in pairs and learn from the sample writing. Step4. Summary Have students summarize what they have learnt in this lesson. Step5. Homework Must do: Check your writing and exchange drafts with partners for review.
