Learning by doing is a valuable way to gain knowledge and skills. It allows us to put what we learn from books into practice and ____1___ our understanding.
Last term, our science class had a project about growing plants. Our teacher told us to grow bean sprouts. At first, I thought it was an easy task. But I soon ____2___ the first batch of beans didn’t sprout at all. I felt ____3____ and wanted to give up. However, our teacher told us, “Mistakes are part of learning. You need to find out what went wrong and try again.”
So I checked the conditions carefully. I found that I had put too much water, which made the beans rot. I also realized the plants neeeded enough light. For the second try, I followed the correct steps ___4____. Every day, I ___5____ the beans closely and took detailed notes. I changed the water regularly to prevent the beans from rotting. After three days, tiny white shoots appeared. Over the next week, the shoots grew taller and developed tender green leaves. During this project, I learned more than just how to grow bean sprouts. I learned the importance of ___6___ and attention to detail(注重细节). I also realized that____7____ book knowledge is not enough—we need to apply it to real life. When we do things with our own hands, we remember the process and lessons much better. Our group also worked together to share experiences. This helped me understand that learning can be more effective when we cooperate with others.
We even designed a simple experiment to test the best temperature for bean sprouts. At last , we presented our project to the class with posters and videos. We showed our growth records and shared what we had learned from both successes and failures. Our teacher praised us for our hard work and creativity. This ___8____ made me believe that learning by doing is not only interesting but also meaningful. It helps us develop practical skills, critical thinking, and a ____9____ attitude towards learning. What’s more, it taught me to face challenges bravely. Every mistake is an (a)_____10____to learn and improve. I now look forward to more hands-on activities, as they make learning lively and unforgettable.

How did you learn to speak Chinese? By following the people around you (like your parents), right? Children around the world pick up their first language in this way. The environment is important for you to learn a language.
What if you grew up in an environment where people spoke hundreds of languages? Let’s imagine there is a boy. He grew up in an airport (机场) and talks to visitors from all over the world every day. Could such a child later be able to speak hundreds of languages?
According to language researchers, the answer to that question is “maybe not”. One problem is time. Nobody can learn a new language within just one day. But there is another, more important thing: what you want. Your mind doesn’t naturally take in everything around you. It pays attention to the world and develops feelings about it. That plays a big role in how you learn.
Let’s go back to the imaginary airport above. If the plane is delayed (延迟), there are some people who have to stay at the airport. A person is fighting with workers in a strange language, and the child may heed (注意). At the same time, another person is politely talking with workers in a strange language. And he helps other people solve the problem. Everyone speaks highly of him. What will the child think of the two people? He may think the second person is cool and may want to learn that person’s language.
So to learn lots of languages, you don’t just need a proper environment. Time and a strong wish to pick up those languages matter a lot, too.
16. How do children learn their first language?
A. They learn everything quickly.
B. They know little about what they are learning.
C. They learn a lot from the people around them.
D. They usually start by following their parents’ advice.
17. What is special about the boy in paragraph 2?
A. He talks in hundreds of languages. B. He is popular with other visitors.
C. He travels to many places every year. D. He meets different people every day.
18. What matters more in language learning, according to paragraph 3?
A. Enough time. B. Personal interest.
C. Strong memory. D. The right environment.
19. What can we know about the people staying at the airport in paragraph 4?
A. They stay there because the plane doesn’t take off on time.
B. They all talk with workers in a strange language.
C. They help each other solve problems.
D. They fight with the airport workers.
20. Why might the child want to learn the second person’s language?
A. The language sounds cool. B. The language is easy to learn.
C. The person is polite and helpful. D. The person works as a good teacher.
C
Imagine a robot teacher that draws pictures on the board while explaining science. This is Embodied AI machines that learn through action, just like students in a lab.
In schools today, Embodied AI makes learning fun and real. For example, “AI pens” check your handwriting and show mistakes right away. English apps use voice study to help you practice speech by copying your movements. Even PE classes get smarter: sensors in sports shoes measure balance (平衡) and shout advice like, “Lower knees more!”
What’s special about these robots? They join thinking with doing. This “learning by doing” is like small class activities. In a science class, when you measure pencils with a ruler, you learn about measurement. You can see the difference in pencil lengths. And when you move a heavy book and a light notebook with the same force, it’s harder to move the book, helping you understand “force”. This makes these ideas easy to get.
By 2025, Embodied AI will be everywhere. They won’t replace (取代) teachers—they’ll make learning better, turning difficult ideas into games.
For example, in a science lab, a robot could mix chemicals safely, showing you how reactions work. In an art class, AI might guide your hand to draw perfect circles, teaching geometry (几何学) while you create. Even history lessons could come alive with robots acting out historical events!
So, are you ready to study with robots that act and think? Embodied AI isn’t magic—it’s about turning every student into a creator and explorer. The future of learning isn’t in books...it’s waiting for you to build it!
21. What can Embodied AI mentioned in Paragraph 1 do?
A. B. C. D.
22. How does Embodied AI make learning interesting?
A. AI pens can help you do your homework.
B. English apps help improve your speaking skills.
C. Dangerous science tests can be done by students.
D. AI teachers help you keep balanced in PE classes.
23. What does the underlined word “This” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A. The process of joining thinking with doing. B. The method of “learning by doing”.
C. The activity of measuring pencils. D. The experiment of moving books.
24. How might Embodied AI be used in an art class?
A. By writing poems about paintings. B. By guiding a student to draw shapes.
C. By taking the place of the art teachers. D. By showing famous works of art.
25. What is the role of Embodied AI in the future classroom?
A. To replace all human teachers. B. To teach students how to think.
C. To turn students into magicians. D. To encourage creativity in students.
Reading English novels is a great way to improve your English, but many students don’t know how to read them easily and effectively. 26
First, choose the right books. Don’t choose books that are too difficult for you. 27 You can start with short novels for teenagers, which have simple words and interesting stories. This will help you build your confidence in reading.
28 You don’t have to look up every new word in the dictionary when you read. If the new word is not important for you to understand the story, just guess its meaning from the context. Only look up the key words that stop you from understanding the story.
Third, read the whole story quickly first. Many students read very slowly, and they stop at every difficult sentence. 29 If you read the whole story quickly first, you can get the main idea of the book, and it will be easier for you to understand the details when you read it again.
Finally, read the story again after you finish it. The second time you read it, you will understand more things in the story. You can also take notes of useful words and expressions, which will help you improve your English.
30 If you follow these tips, you will find reading English novels is not as difficult as you think, and you can have a lot of fun from it.
A. Second, don’t look up every new word.
B. Here are some useful tips to help you read English novels better.
C. This will make you lose interest in the story soon.
D. You don’t have to read the most famous classic novels at the beginning.
E. Reading English novels can also help you learn about foreign cultures.
F. Reading is a lifelong journey, and you should keep doing it every day.

ADCBB CDCAD
A. deepen加深;B. separate分开;C. depend依赖;D. choose选择。
故选A。
A. gave up放弃;B. searched for寻找;C. passed down传承;D. found out发现。
A. concerned担忧的;B. shocked震惊的;C. confused困惑的;D. nervous紧张的。
A. smoothly顺利地;B. carefully仔细地;C. directly直接地;D. correctly正确地。
A. imagined想象;B. observed观察;C. supposed假设;D. guessed猜测。
A. confidence自信;B. kindness善良;C. patience耐心;D. requirement要求。
A. inspiring激励;B. creating创造;C. requiring要求;D. acquiring获得,习得。
“acquiring knowledge”是固定搭配,意为“获取知识”。其他选项无法与“book knowledge”合理搭配。故选D。
8. 句意:这次经历让我相信“做中学”不仅有趣而且有意义。
A. challenge挑战;B. creativity创造力;C. experience经历;D. behaviour行为。
A. positive积极的;B. negative消极的;C. pleasant愉快的;D. subjective主观的。
“positive attitude towards learning”是常见表达,且全文基调积极向上,强调勇敢面对挑战、从错误中学习,符合“积极态度”。故选A。
A. communication交流;B. advantage优势;C. moment时刻;D. opportunity机会。
“an opportunity to learn”是地道搭配,强调错误带来的成长契机。虽然“moment”也可指时间点,但不如“opportunity”准确传达“可利用的有利条件”之意。故选D。
