He has the sleeping problem for over two years. A student in Beijing called Yang Lin is busy in the day, so she stays up late to enjoy hours of “me time” at night. She doesn’t have enough time to rest. These two examples are common among Chinese young people. More than 38% of them have sleeping problems, which is higher than the global (全球的) average of 27%, according to China Sleep Research Society (CSRS). And here is some useful advice from the CSRS experts. ★Get Enough Sleep How many hours of sleep are enough for good health? For adults, 7 to 8 hours is fine. For teenagers, they are advised to sleep for at least 9 hours. Primary students should get at least 10 hours' sleep. ★Eat Healthy Food We can keep ourselves fit by eating healthy food, like fruit, vegetables and eggs. They are good choices to stop sickness. A healthy person usually has good sleep. ★Relax Before Sleeping Don’t get overexcited or too nervous before going to bed because it is the same as drinking coffee. Instead, you can try something to keep yourself calm. For example, you can listen to light music, take a warm bath or practise yoga. ★Have a Comfortable Sleeping Environment Make your bedroom clean, quiet and dark. Actually, a comfortable bed matters most. Don’t use phones or computers for a long time because the blue light from them is bad for sleep. Just like Benjamin Franklin said, “Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.” Sleep is important as it helps our bodies rest well from the stress of living. The better you sleep, the healthier you will be. The problems of sleeping: · People have 1 falling asleep. · People don’t have 2 sleeping time. The 3 of sleeping: The better you sleep, the healthier you will be. The advice on sleeping: · Your sleeping time 4 your age. · Eating healthily helps sleep well. · Do something relaxing before bed. · A comfortable bed is 5 . 1. _____________________________ 2.______________________________ 3._______________________________ 4._____________________________ 5._______________________________ 【拔高训练】 【难度等级】★★★☆☆ 二、 完成图表。根据短文内容,完成图表中所缺信息。 The term “sealed island” for Hainan, which means “Feng Guan” in Chinese, can be misleading. It does not mean the island is closing itself off. In fact, it marks a big step towards being more open to the world. Starting on 18th December, 2025, Hainan officially became a special area as part of building a high-level Free Trade Port (贸易港口). This new policy (政策) creates a special system for goods (货物) coming in and out. Goods arriving in Hainan from other countries now enjoy zero import tariffs (进口关税) on about three-fourths of all types of goods. This makes Hainan a huge duty-free shopping area. However, this “sealing” only happens on goods. For people, travel remains completely free. Tourists can visit Hainan just as before. China introduced this policy mainly to turn Hainan into a top international centre for trade and tourism. Also, by making trade rules simpler and offering tax discounts (税收折扣), China hopes to attract more foreign businesses. This will help the local economy grow and create more jobs. For shoppers, it means they can buy more types of imported goods, often at better prices. So, the “sealed island” policy doesn’t mean “close” but “open”. It uses Hainan’s special island geography to connect more closely with the international economy. It shows that this special policy is actually China’s new way of opening up, and it is bringing more chances for everyone. The policy will be fully in place by around 2035, with Hainan becoming a world-class free trade port. Hainan’s “Sealed Island”: A New Policy 1 to the World The content of it: · Starting at 2 2025, Hainan officially became a special area as part of building a high-level Free Trade Port. · It will be fully in place by around 2035. The influence it causes: · About seventy-five 3 of imported goods arriving in Hainan now enjoy zero import tariffs. · Hainan becomes a huge duty-free shopping area. The 4 of making it · To turn Hainan into a top international centre for trade and tourism. · To attract more foreign businesses by making trade rules simpler and helping businesses pay 5 tax. 1. _____________________________ 2.______________________________ 3._______________________________ 4._____________________________ 5._______________________________ 【难度等级】★★★☆☆ 三、阅读表达。完成图表。根据短文内容,完成图表中所缺信息。(共5小题;每小题2分,计10分) Did you ever try to cover up your emotions from someone during a conversation? It's not always easy, as the colors of your face might tell the truth. Scientists from the Ohio State University find that people are able to tell other people's emotions according to changes in the colors of their faces, The Guardian reported. Scientists studied pictures of people's facial expressions. They found that every facial expression has a special colour pattern (模式). For example, when we feel happy, our cheeks (脸颊) and temples turn red, with a little blue around the chin. Similarly, if someone feels disgusted (厌恶的), the area around their lips turns blue-yellow, and the area around the nose and forehead turns red-green. “We believe the central nervous system causes small changes in blood flow when people's emotions change, which lead to the colour patterns we see,” lead researcher Aleix Martinez told The Guardian. But this raises a question: Is it the colors alone, or also facial expressions, that help people tell others' emotions? To understand this, scientists added colour patterns to pictures of faces showing no emotion. They asked volunteers (志愿者) to tell what emotions the faces showed. Volunteers were able to identify (识别) the emotion 75 percent of the time. This might explain why there are some sayings that connect emotions to the colors of one's face. For example, when two people are arguing angrily, we say they are “red in the face”. When people try so hard that they're very tired but still fail, we'd say they're “blue in the face”. 1 : The Unspoken Language of Emotions Key findings: · Research shows that different emotions create their own special pattern of colors on a person's face. ○ 2 : Faces appear red around the cheeks and temples and a little blue around the chin. ○ Disgust: Faces appear blue-yellow around the lips, but also a red-green colour around the nose and forehead. Scientific explanation: · Researchers believe these specific colour patterns are the 3 small changes in blood flow caused by the central nervous system. A study about it: · In a study, scientists put colour patterns onto 4 face pictures. · Volunteers looking at them could still correctly tell the emotion 75% of the time. Sayings about it: · People are “red in the face” when they are having 5 . · People are “blue in the face” when they try so hard that they are tired but still fail. 1. _____________________________ 2.______________________________ 3._______________________________ 4._____________________________ 5._______________________________ 【难度等级】★★★☆☆ 4、 完成图表 根据短文内容,完成图表中所缺信息。(共5小题;每小题2分,计10分) When we think of cities, we might picture busy streets, tall buildings, and heavy traffic. So it’s easy to believe that cities are difficult places for birds to live. Surprisingly, many birds not only manage to survive in these busy environments but also do very well. On the one hand, city life has clear advantages (好处), such as plenty of food sources (来源), including human food waste, bird feeders and insects living on city plants. With fewer meat-eating birds, cities are safer for small birds. Cities are usually warmer than the countryside. That helps birds get through the winter safely. Besides, buildings and bridges give birds new places to build homes. On the other hand, city life is not without dangers. Birds face dangers like tall glass windows. They may fly into the windows by mistake and get hurt. Air and water pollution (污染) can harm their health. Pet cats kill many birds every year. One of the biggest challenges is noise. To be heard, many city birds changed the way they sing—they sing earlier in the morning or more loudly. Even with these challenges, some birds are especially good at living near people. Still, we humans should play a role in making cities safer for birds. Simple actions can make a big difference, such as growing different kinds of trees, grasses and flowers to provide food and nesting places for birds, putting stickers (贴纸) on windows to stop birds from mistaking them for open sky, and keeping pet cats indoors to reduce the risk of birds being killed. By creating more green spaces and being friendly to them, we can make sure that birds continue to live well in cities. Cities: chances and 1 for birds Advantages of city life for birds: · more food sources · 2 of being hunted by meat-eating birds · warmer temperatures in winter · more places to build homes Disadvantages of city life for birds: · tall glass windows: getting hurt · air and water pollution: 3 from health problems · pet cats: being killed · city noise: changing the singing habit The actions humans can take for city birds’ 4 · growing 5 · putting stickers on windows · keeping pet cats indoors 1. _____________________________ 2.______________________________ 3._______________________________ 4._____________________________ 5._______________________________ 【挑战训练】 【难度等级】★★★★☆ 五、完成图表 根据短文内容,完成图表中所缺信息。(共5小题;每小题2分,计10分) Micro plastics (微塑料) are everywhere, from the peak of Mount Qomolangma to the bottled water we drink every day. These tiny things are bad for ecosystems and even cause human health problems. It’s clear that micro plastics are one of the key environmental challenges today. According to a study, there are 14 million metric tons of micro plastics sitting on the ocean floor. Even if we take action now to use less plastic, about 710 million metric tons of plastic will still pollute (污染) our planet by 2040. That’s why finding ways to clean micro plastics is so important. The usual methods to clean micro plastics are often expensive to develop. Recently, some Chinese scientists from Wuhan University came up with a new idea. They created a special sponge (海绵) made from squid bones (鱿鱼骨) and cotton (棉花). Chitin from squid bones and cellulose from cotton are known for their ability to remove micro plastics from wastewater. The research team used them to make the new sponge. The sponge itself can also break down naturally without causing any pollution. The scientists tested the sponge in four different types of water, and it worked well. According to a study in Science Advances, the sponge cleaned up to 99.9% of micro plastics. Since squid bones and cotton are both cheap and widely available, people can use the sponge widely to clean up micro plastics. However, some problems remain. Scientists don’t know whether the sponge can clean the micro plastics at the bottom of the water. Also, the sponge’s journey doesn’t end after taking in micro plastics. People still need a proper method of dealing with the sponges. Without careful management, this process may move micro plastics from one ecosystem to another. Anyway, the special sponge gives hope for cleaner oceans in the future. Micro plastics Micro plastics harm both ecosystems and human health. Situation: · There are 14 million metric tons of micro plastics on the ocean floor. · About 710 million metric tons of plastic will pollute the environment by 2040, although we start to 1 the use of plastic right away. Solutions → The usual methods 2 a lot. The special one: a sponge Creation of the sponge: Some Chinese scientists from Wuhan University created it. It is made from squid bones and cotton. Good points of the sponge: It breaks down naturally. It is 3 to the environment. It can 4 clean up to 99.9% of micro plastics. It can be widely used. Problems: Scientists don’t know whether the sponge can work well at the bottom of the water. Scientists still need to find out how to 5 the sponges properly after they take in micro plastics. 1. _____________________________ 2.______________________________ 3._______________________________ 4._____________________________ 5._______________________________ 【参考答案】 1、 完成图表 1. difficulty/trouble 2. enough 3. importance 4.depends on 5.the most important 2、 完成图表 1.Opening/ Connecting 2.the end of 3.percent 4.main goals/ purposes 5.less/ lower 3、 完成图表 1.Facial Colors 2.Happiness 3.result of 4.expressionless/ emotionless 5.an argument/ arguments 四、完成图表 1.challenges 2.lower risk 3.suffering 4.safety 5.plants (trees, grasses and flowers) 五、完成图表 1.reduce 2.cost 3.harmless / friendly 4.successfully 5.deal with 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
