Troubled by visitors who only come in to check out the design and decoration, the owners of Queviures Murria, a grocery store in Barcelona, Spain, have put up a sign announcing a 5-euro fee for coming in just to look.
Queviures Murria has been in business since 1898 and is one of the most eye-catching places of interest in all of Barcelona. The old look of the store and the traditional design of the inside attract (吸引) hundreds of visitors every day, but the problem is that many of them aren’t actually interested in the things sold inside-all kinds of traditional Spanish cured sausages, cold cuts, cured cheeses, oils, wines and so on. According to the store, many visitors enter the store without even saying a simple “hello”, look around taking pictures, and then simply leave without buying anything. So it decided to charge (收费) people for “just looking” just to stop them.
Toni Merino, one of the managers at Queviures Murria, said that the idea to charge visitors a fee for simply coming into the grocery store and looking around without buying anything started out as a joke, but as day by day the workers and the real shoppers became inconvenienced (不方便) by too many visitors looking around, taking pictures, with surely no interest in the things sold there, they decided it.
Merino said he has no interest in actually charging the fee, and they don’t really have to any more. By posting a photo about the 5-euro fee in the shop window, they have stopped most unwanted visitors.
After photos of the 5-euro fee announcement in the window of Queviures Murria become well-known on social media, the store faced a problem and had to explain the reasons and clarify (澄清) that it didn’t really plan on carrying on the measure (措施).
29. What can we learn about Queviures Murria?
A. Visitors are not welcome there. B. It has a history of nearly 100 years.
C. It charges people for taking photos. D. Many visitors better like its design.
30. Why did the grocery store put up the sign?
A. To provide a better shopping environment. B. To make money.
C. To attract more visitors. D. To get a fame (名声).
31. What does the underlined “it” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A. To make a joke to charge visitors. B. To sell all kinds of traditional Spanish food.
C. To stop unwanted shoppers by charging them. D. To explain the reasons on social media.
32. Where is this passage probably taken from?
A. A food column (专栏). B. A news website. C. A fashion magazine. D. A travel program.

It is said that about 40% of the world’s population use social media, and most influencers help social media users decide what to buy and what trends (潮流) to follow.
Influencers are people who can influence the decisions of their followers because of their knowledge and expertise (专长) in a particular area, e.g. fashion, travel or technology.
Influencers often have a large following of people who pay close attention to their views. Influencers are now seen by many companies as a direct way to customers’ hearts. Brands are now asking influencers to market their products. It is no surprise that more and more people want to become influencers too. If you are one of them, then here are some tips on how to do it.
Choose your field. What is the area that you know most about? What do you feel most excited talking about? Find the specific area that you’re most interested in and develop it.
Post regularly. Many influencers post daily on their social media accounts (账户). The more you post, the more likely people will follow you. Also, ensure that your posts possibly follow a theme.
Tell an interesting story. Whether it is a photo or a comment that you are posting, use it to tell a story that will catch the attention of your followers and help them connect with you.
Make sure people can easily find your posts. Put your posts on social media by using catchy titles and make sure that they can be easily found. There is no point in writing the most exciting stories or posting the most beautiful photos if no one is going to see them.
Most importantly, if you want to become a social media influencer, you need to have patience. Keep posting and your following will gradually increase. Good luck!
33. A social media influencer is someone who _________.
A. is an expert in a particular area B. is a decider of his followers
C. pays attention to their followers’ views D. pays their followers to buy products
34. Companies want to use influencers to help _________.

C. writing the most exciting stories D. posting the most beautiful photos
36. The passage is mainly about _________.
A. how to get on well with influencers
B. how to use influencers in marketing
C. some tips on making money as an influencer
D. what an influencer is and how we become one
D
The ability of reading and writing doesn’t come naturally to people, it takes a lot of effort, and most of us have learned how. Eighty-six percent of the world’s population is literate(受过教育的), and this number has been increasing for centuries. Literacy makes it possible to make a world filled with books, websites, text messages, road signs, and more.
But the world of information is changing. Why send a long letter or text when you can share photos or videos instead? Why learn from a book when you can practice a skill in virtual reality(虚拟现实)? Why read magazines when you can listen to podcasts(播客)?
Could people take part in today’s world without reading or writing at all? Technology seems to make it possible. Nowadays most of our smart devices(设备) are able to talk and take spoken orders, like reporting the weather, playing a song or setting a timer. The devices sometimes still make silly mistakes, but it’s getting better and better. It’s possible to imagine a future world where we can easily communicate with our devices.
But reading and writing are still powerful tools. For one, most people read faster than they speak. A podcaster or audiobook teller speaks at around 150 to 160 words per minute, while a strong reader can read through a text at 300 to 400 words per minute. That’s twice as fast! Research has also found that people remember more information and stay more interested when they are reading as compared to listening.
Learning to read also creates new connections in the brain. With the invention of reading, humans rearranged the very organization of our brain, which improves the way to think and changes the intellectual evolution(进化) of our humans.
What do you think? Do you hope people keep on reading and writing or will technology make literacy obsolete?
37. From the passage, we know that _________ .
A. fewer people communicate with our devices
B. reading helps people invent more things
C. most devices can answer people’s spoken orders
D. listening helps people remember more information
38. The fifth paragraph mainly talks about _________ .
A. some advice on how to learn to read
B. the advantages of reading over speaking
C. a research about reading and the human brain
D. the good effects that reading has on our brains
39. The underlined word “obsolete” in paragraph 6 is closest in meaning to “ ________ ”.
A. useful B. impossible C. out of date D. out of reach
40. The writer probably agrees that _________ .
A. people are able to use the smart devices
B. people like magazines better than podcasts
C. the invention of smart devices can rearrange our brain
D. reading and writing help human beings to develop

Good luck!

Work together to make a difference
Dear members of Sunshine Community,
We are writing this letter to call on everyone to make our community a better place.
Firstly, it’s important for everyone to take care of the environment. For example, it’s good manners not to drop litter everywhere. We should also remember not to pick flowers.
Secondly, everyone should do something to save natural resources, such as taking shorter showers and turning off the lights when leaving a room. Otherwise, our natural resources will soon run out.
