A multi-institutional team of researchers conducted the first study to evaluate how the duration of nightly sleep early in the semester 21 (affect) first year college students end-of-semester grade point average (GPA). Using Fitbit sleep trackers, they found that students on average sleep 6.5 hours a night, but negative outcomes increase 22 students receive less than six hours of sleep a night. The results are available in the Feb. 13 issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Sleep guidelines recommend teenagers get 8 to 10 hours of sleep every night. Many college students experience irregular and insufficient sleep.
David Creswell, the William S. Dietrich II Professor in Psychology and Neuroscience at the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences, led a team of researchers to evaluate the relationship between sleep and GPA.College students often push 23 to achieve high GPA.
“Animal studies have shown how critical sleep is for learning and memory,” said Creswell. “Here we show how this work translates 24 humans. The less nightly sleep a first year college student gets at the beginning of the school term, the lower GPA at the end of the term 25 (predict). Lack of sleep 26 hurt-students’ ability to learn in their college classrooms.”
The study evaluated more than 600 first-year students across five studies at three universities. The students wore wrist Fitbit devices 27 (monitor) their sleep patterns. The researchers found that students in the study sleep on average 6.5 hours a night.
More surprisingly, the researchers found that students who receive less than six hours of sleep experienced a 28 (pronounce) decline in academic performance. In addition, each hour of sleep lost corresponded to a 0.07 decrease in end-of-term GPA.
“Once you start dipping below six hours, you are starting to accumulate massive sleep debt 29 can harm a student’s health and study habits, compromising the whole system,” said Creswell. “Most surprising to me was that 30 we did to make the effect go away, it persisted.”
“Our work here suggests that there are potentially real costs to reducing your nightly sleep on your ability to learn and achieve in college. There’s real value in budgeting for the importance of nightly sleep,” said Creswell.

Multitasking — doing several things at a time — was once applauded as the best way to work. But does it actually help you get things done, or does it make you less effective?
To some people, the advantages of multitasking seem obvious. If you can actually do two or more things at one time, that clearly saves time. It might also make you feel productive, which can in turn make you happy.
However, a growing body of research shows that multitasking is not as 31 as it appears. It turns out that when most people multitask, they switch back and forth between 32 on two or more tasks instead of focusing on more than one thing at a time.
But mental energy that could be spent working will be 33 if you change your focus constantly. It also causes you to take longer and make more mistakes, thus 34 stress. People who try to multitask often end up feeling more anxious and less 35 than people who don’t.
There are some exceptions to the no-multitasking rule. A very small group of people — about two percent of the population — 36 at multitasking. These people, called supertaskers, are able to work on several things at once without their performance suffering. But experts caution: supertaskers are very rare. The 37 of people who think multitasking makes them more productive are fooling themselves.
If you do want to multitask, productivity experts 38 doing it carefully. Pair a mentally challenging task with a 39 task that you don’t have to think about. For example, you could prepare a meal while talking on the phone. But when it’s important to do something well, do only that one thing. And 40 be cautious about doing anything else while you’re driving.
Multitasking may sound productive, but it actually works against the goal of getting things done. Doing things one at a time usually helps people produce better work and get things done more efficiently.

(24-25高二下·上海静安·期中)Checking packages is unhealthy obsession
There’s a child-like joy that comes with ordering something online — whether it be clothes or kitchen gadgets. We sit 41 the U.S. Postal Service or FedEx pages to see when our items will arrive, and we become overly excited, hopeful and anxious. But why?
According to Owen O’Kane, a psychotherapist, even the smallest positive future events can 42 us when we’re feeling down. This is why people look forward to dinner reservations, hair appointments and yes, receiving packages.
But it’s not the purchase itself that arouses this happiness. Experts say there’s something about the 43 of a package arriving that is exciting for those in need of change in their lives.
When our package finally arrives, many of us are satisfied. But that initial excitement has probably 44 because our obsession with our parcel represents much more than the item we purchased.
For some, the arrival of a package may represent “an imagined positive future, where you can control your needs for a book or blouse,” making life feel more 45 and less dull. Waiting for a parcel can also serve as a temporary 46 from the boredom, giving you something new to look forward to.
“You’re distracting yourself from other feelings like anxiety, boredom. When you imagine a positive event in the future, you feel only joyful expectation. And tracking it down to the street of the delivery truck makes it even more 47 ” O’Kane says. Nevertheless, anticipation isn’t always a good thing.
People became angry recently when the U. S. Postal Service announced its slower delivery. And now, many are worried about items arriving late, appearing broken, or simply not 48 expectations.
This phenomenon is called pre-parcel anxiety and it’s more common than you would think. “We live in a society where we build expectations and 49 perfectionism. We want efficiency and 50 with patience,” O’Kane explains.
A delayed package may seem 51 to some. But for others, feeling hopeful and then being let down is angering and anxiety-provoking.
“We feel tricked, sometimes on a personal level. We all want fair transactions, and when we 52 and the other party drops the ball, anger is often the result,” O’Kane says, comparing it to “broken, ignored or forgotten” promises. 53 , O’Kane says these reactions are telling about more deep-rooted issues beyond a delayed package. “Anxiety is 54 to uncertainty, and many struggle with not having control. So it’s really 55 of something bigger, of the need to control everything and to be perfect.”

Section B
Directions: Read the following three passages. Each passage is followed by several questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A, B, C and D. Choose the one that fits best according to the information given in the passage you have just read.
A
(25-26高二下·上海徐汇·月考)Among my oldest friends, I’m known as the mysterious one, the guy who rarely shows up, is always there not here. I had high school buddies, and I loved them all dearly though we boys didn’t say such things back then. Then life happened. Most of us left our hometown. Meet-ups become rare occasions.
One of those old friends, whom I had not seen since our high school graduation, reached out recently to say he’d be near where I am, and hoped we could meet up. He’d done the same thing about 10 years ago, and I’d begged off for some stupid reason related to my shyness, or rather, my introverted nature. I’m older and a bit wiser now, and I’ve been packing around some guilt over that missed opportunity for 10 years, so I agreed readily.
We met for dinner, perhaps two hours, and rarely had I felt at ease with other humans as I did with him. We talked and talked. About who we were then. Who we are now. And what made us the jerks (混蛋) we were then. We acknowledged that if not for each other, and the circles of good people we ran with back then, the good friends who kept us reasonably on track and in check, life could have easily gone south for either of us. Each of us recalled things the other had no memory of. Fragments of memories, scattered yet precious. We know we were tight then, and we value that friendship and shared experience still today.
People are fundamentally social beings and enjoy connecting with others. Maintaining social connections is good for our mental and physical health. However, despite the importance and enjoyment of social connection, people significantly underestimate how much others will appreciate being reached out to.
There’s something about the friends you make in youth that’s near impossible to recreate with friends you make later in life. I’m telling you this to remind you that your old friends would love to hear from you, maybe a simple text, a little hello, maybe even a phone call or a meetup.
56.The author refused the meet-up about 10 years ago probably because _________.
A.he was not a sociable man B.he was not clever enough
C.he lived far away from his friends D.he felt guilty about his friends
57.Which of the following best describes the author’s feeling during the dinner?
A.Anxious and nervous. B.Comfortable and relaxed.
C.Excited and energetic. D.suspicious and upset
58.What does the author imply by saying “life could have easily gone south for either of us”?
A.They could have easily been off the track in life.
B.They might have settled down in the southern region.
C.Their friendship could have easily turned sour.
D.They could have faced financial difficulties.
59.What is the main purpose of the article?
A.To describe the author’s reunion with an old friend.
B.To reflect on the value of friendships formed in youth.
C.To encourage readers to reach out to their old friends.
D.To discuss the importance of social connections.

(24-25高二下·上海青浦·期中)Small adjustments to your daily routine can go a long way toward protecting your body’s control center and preventing cognitive decline down the road.
In fact, scientists believe that as many as 45 percent of dementia (痴呆) cases could be delayed or prevented with help from some simple, sometimes surprising, changes in behavior.
1. Wear a helmet.
Physically protecting your head is the single most important step you can take to safeguard your brain, experts said.
Recurrent head trauma from traumatic brain injuries and concussions (脑震荡) can lead to chronic traumatic encephalopathy (慢性创伤性脑病), which can worsen cognition overall, and in some cases cause dementia. Wearing a helmet during activities like biking and skiing can significantly reduce the risk of injury, Dr. Feldman said.
Motorcyclists should also always wear helmets, even if state laws don’t require them.
2. Join a book club.
Maintaining an active social life keeps the negative health effects of isolation — such as depression — at bay, said Dr. Jessica Choi, a neurologist at Cedars-Sinai.
Dr. Choi said that her patients who have a strong social support system are typically in better overall health than the ones who don’t. “Not having that can lead to depressive episodes,” which are tied to cognitive decline in older patients, she said.
Book clubs or gardening groups can do the trick, but “even a scheduled monthly dinner with a close friend or family members makes a big difference for patients,” Dr. Choi said.
3. Wear a mask on smoggy or smoky days.
There’s growing research linking air pollution exposure to cognitive decline. Scientists think very fine, inhalable (可吸入的) particles in the air could trigger chemical changes once they reach the brain, said Deborah Cory Slechta, a neuroscientist in the department of environmental medicine at University of Rochester Medical Center.
Not all harmful particles can be avoided — some are so small that they slip through air filters — but wearing an N95 or surgical mask and using indoor air filters on days when air quality is worse (including because of wildfire smoke) can minimize your exposure.
4. Sleep well.
Finding ways to improve your time spent sleeping, and the quality of that sleep, can go a long way toward helping you stay sharp and prevent dementia.
If you work night shifts and sleep during the day, consider blackout (遮光) curtain to help regulate your body’s biological clock. If anxiety and depression are keeping you up, try meditating before bed. If you aren’t sure where your sleep problems lie, keep a sleep diary to help identify potential issues.
“A rested mind is crucial for brain health, as sleep helps consolidate memories and clear out cellular debris from the brain,” Dr. Feldman said.
60.Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?
A.Wearing a helmet only benefits motorcyclists.
B.Joining a gardening group won’t help reduce cognitive decline.
C.On smoggy days, wearing an ordinary mask can minimize exposure to harmful particles.
D.Using blackout curtains can be helpful for night-shift workers to regulate their body clock.
61.What is the main purpose of this passage?
A.To introduce the causes of dementia.
B.To tell people how to maintain an active social life.
C.To provide some simple ways to prevent cognitive decline.
D.To emphasize the importance of protecting the head.
62.This passage is most likely taken from__________.
A.a medical magazine B.a sports newspaper
C.a sci-fi novel D.a travel guide
C
(24-25高二上·上海浦东新·期末)Social media and the Internet are changing the way we eat and cook. First they came for the eggs. Then the feta cheese, caviar, and cucumbers. In some countries, these ingredients even sold out: Iceland experienced a shortage of cucumbers, and feta briefly vanished from grocery-store shelves. The reason for the shortages? Food enthusiasts were eager to recreate viral videos in which these ingredients starred.
People who learned to cook in kitchens or through books may scoff at the spread of online-cooking videos. But chefs have long embraced technology to instruct, share their culinary visions and build their careers. In the 1960s-70s Julia Child used television and helped popularize cookbooks, demystifying French food for those cooking at home.
Successful online food celebrities “recognize and make a real effort to meet the specific needs of their viewers,” explains Madeline Buxton, culture and trends manager at YouTube. Some viewers want to be entertained; others want to learn, travel or eat vicariously through people more adventurous than they are.
Unlike cooking shows on TV, barriers to entry for online-cooking videos are low. Creators who think they have a winning idea do not need to persuade agents, editors and network executives; they can shoot a video themselves on their phone and see if people like it.
Established media companies have got in on the act, but the Internet is mostly full of shorter content. Whereas adventurous TikTokers have tried their hand at complex recipes, approachable food tends to perform best: one reason recipes for baked-feta pasta and cucumber salad went viral is that it is easy to melt cheese and slice cucumbers. It also helps to be visually attractive: viral videos tend to show off the texture and crunch of food.
Sometimes creators are surprised by which of their videos take off. Mr. DiGiovanni recalls his first popular video, which showed him making a chocolate bar from whole cacao pods; it was “poorly shot: the lighting was messed up; it was overexposed”. But it has attracted almost 14m views. Much as other food creators do, he shows viewers things they would not otherwise see, and he has a good time doing it.
This points to an important aspect of online food culture: fun. Julia Child certainly mastered the art of French cooking, and people who followed her recipes may have enjoyed themselves, but she most believed in the haute (高端的) part of haute cuisine. Reverence (崇敬) does poorly in the democratized world of online content, where training, background and even experience matter less than likeability, production value and whether a video makes you want to pick up a pan and start cooking. Now can you please pass the feta?
63.The author cites Julia Child as an example to suggest that ________.
A.the current trend of online cooking videos is not an entirely new phenomenon
B.the shortages of certain ingredients were a direct result of popular TV shows
C.cooking shows on TV have higher barriers for content creators
D.television was as important as social media in the spread of culinary culture
64.Which of the following statements might the author most probably agree with?
A.A detailed instruction on how to make high-end French cuisine is likely to go viral.
B.Ingredients like cucumbers sold out because of the popularization of French food.
C.Even respected chefs cannot guarantee that their videos will take off.
D.The shorter a food video is, the more likely it is to gain in popularity.
65.What can be inferred from the last sentence of the passage?
A.The author highlights how modern cooking has been changed by the Internet.
B.The author is drawn to the new culture of cooking on social media.
C.The author is convinced that feta, as shown in the videos, can enhance the taste of food.
D.The author's own culinary experiences haven't been influenced by online cooking videos.
66.Which of the following serves as the best title for the passage?
A.From TV to TikTok: The Rise of Influencers
B.A Taste of Trends: Culinary Journey Reshaped Online
C.A Recipe for Success: How to Create Viral Cooking Videos
D.Pass Me the Feta: Growing Appetite for Food Ingredients

(23-24高二下·上海闵行·期中)Today, in most of the theatres in Britain, the stages are situated behind a sort of arch (拱门), called the proscenium (幕布前的舞台部分) arch. The arch runs across the building with the stage on one side of it and the auditorium, housing the audience, on the other. The audience is kept to the area from which it can get a clear view of the stage. 67 The actor can ignore them until the end, when they applaud the performance.
68 Stage furniture or properties -“props”, as they are referred to in the business -are now as few as possible. Elaborate scenery is used only when it is going to last throughout the play, or when it is so constructed that it can be changed quickly. Modern theatres are built with the stage extending far in front of the proscenium arch, if indeed they have a proscenium arch at all, electricity, already long in use, has recently had a revolutionary effect.
The modern idea of having the stage in front of the proscenium arch is not really modern, of course. It makes our stages much like Shakespeare’s. 69 The famous speeches of Hamlet, for instance, can be delivered more quietly and naturally than they were in the last century. The actors no longer have to worry much about not being heard, or about turning their backs to the auditorium.
Moreover, nowadays, people are finding that modern theatres are built to sit in comfortably for two or three hours at a stretch. 70 The result of these improvements is that, in spite of the high price of seats, perhaps more people than ever before are keen on theatre-going.
A.Over the last few decades, since the Second World War, theatrical customs have altered.
B.It makes people feel, as they watch a play or a show, that they are seeing a living and moving picture.
C.All these innovations have quickened up the pace of the drama.
D.This is an advantage both for actors and audience.
E.Today the theatres are much more comfortable because of the many improvements.
F.Often they can meet and eat in the restaurants attached to the theatres.

(24-25高二下·上海黄浦·期中)The Future of Journalism
Journalism has changed a lot over the years. It used to be clear who a journalist was—they had a degree, worked for a newspaper, TV, or radio, and spent their days reporting and writing. But now, the distinction between professional journalists and the general public has become less defined. Today, anyone with a smartphone can be a journalist. If you’re at the scene of a news event, you can record it and share it instantly online. There’s no need to wait for a professional journalist to interview you when you can tell the story yourself.
With the rise of social media platforms, more and more people are becoming “citizen journalists”. These platforms allow anyone to report on events, share their opinions, and even break news before traditional media outlets. This has led to the emergence of many independent news sites and blogs that give a voice to people who were previously unheard. For example, in South Korea, a site called Ohmynews has 26,000 citizen reporters who share news and stories every day.
However, when this trend of citizen journalism began, traditional media didn’t take it seriously. Established news organizations were doubtful of amateur journalists who lacked professional training. However, this perception is changing. Major news outlets are starting to hire individuals from these new media sources, recognizing that citizen journalists can offer fresh perspectives that connect with the public.
Of course, the rise of participatory journalism has also brought challenges. Some critics argue that news shared on social media can be misleading or even false. There are concerns about “fake news” spreading quickly without being properly checked. For instance, during the 2011 London unrest, social media was used to spread false information, leading to confusion and panic.
It’s clear that journalism is evolving. As more people become involved in reporting and sharing news, it’s important for everyone to develop strong critical thinking skills. Being able to question and check information is more crucial than ever. An informed and thoughtful public is essential for a healthy society.

D.To analyze the reasons for wildlife’s disappearing.
【答案】11.C 12.C 13.A
【原文】
Huge numbers of unknown plants and animals are in danger. The Earth, according to various estimates, supports between 5 million and 80 million species. “Species,” says Dr Lovejoy, “are disappearing before we have a chance to learn how they might benefit the rest of the world.”
Thousands of kinds of plants could help feed a growing world population. About four out of every ten medicines come from ingredients found in plants. Some animals also provide medicines.
“It’s natural for species to become extinct over millions of years,” says Dr Lovejoy. What’s unnatural is that humans are speeding up the process many times over.” Actually, humans have a great impact on other living things that share the Earth. And people are doing this in four main ways: making the living places of wildlife less habitable, hunting excessively, introducing new species that endanger native wildlife, and making the environment dirty and polluted. These activities affect all species in one way or another, because all life is interconnected.
Is there time to prevent disaster? “Just barely,” say scientists. Worldwide action will be difficult and costly. But scientists agree that action must be taken quickly. Time is running out.Questions:
11. What percentage of plants provide medicines for humans?
12. Which of the following is not responsible for the disappearing of wildlife?
13. What is the main purpose of the passage?

D.He learns from past mistakes and successes consciously.
16.A.To ask for a pay raise. B.To become a fireman.
C.To be the team leader. D.To present a better image.
【答案】14.D 15.D 16.A
【原文】
During the seven years that I’ve been working with the aircraft parts marketing team, I’m familiar with each new project assignment. I think it’s fair to say that I contribute a lot more value today than I did about seven years ago.
One reason is that, with each technical project, I bring more technical know-how than I did before. I make a conscious effort to learn from past mistakes and successes and to make sure that each new project benefits from the lessons that I have learned in the previous ones.
Another factor is leadership — the ability to lead troubled projects to success. When our Brazilian passenger aircraft project was in trouble last year, I stepped in. When distribution service projects in Germany nearly fell through this year, I stepped in. I think you’re familiar with my nickname, “the fireman.” I’m the “go-to” guy who gets called in to put out fires and get troubled projects going again.
I could go on, but I think you get the picture. Business today is about creating value at all levels. And I’m all about value.
So, I think you’ll agree that I’m due for a pay raise. Thank you.Questions:
14. Why is the speaker called “the fireman”?
15. What can we learn about the speaker?
16. Why does the speaker make the speech?

【答案】17.B 18.A 19.C 20.D
【原文】W: Mm, this coffee is really strong.
M: It is so strong. I like white coffee.
W: So do I. But I like black coffee today. During my last class I was thinking about coming here and could almost taste the coffee.
M: Sounds like it wasn’t too interesting.
W: I was bored to death. I’m in that psychology class only because it is a requirement so I have to stick it out. The problem is, the professor doesn’t know how to arouse our interest. She just walks in, gives us lectures and assignments. There is no discussion. Do you have any classes like that?
M: I have only one big lecture class—world history—and the professor’s the best. It’s so appealing that I’m always on the edge of my seat. And when we have discussions, the room is filled with electricity.
W: I’m jealous. It is so bad. I have already taken world history.
M: You know, one day it occurred to me that I was lucky to be in her class because I found myself thinking a lot about what she said. Did you ever have a teacher like that?
W: I’d have to think about it.
M: You should come with me to class sometime, just to see what I mean. I guess what it really comes down to is her enthusiasm for the subject. I remember at the beginning of this semester; I was not taking anything in school very seriously. I boomed the first history test, but then I started really enjoying school, especially her class.
W: You have got me really curious about this teacher. I think I will visit your class. When does it meet?
Questions:
17. What are the two speakers mainly talking about?
18. Why does the woman take psychology course?
19. In what way does the man’s world history teacher impress him most?
20. What does the woman plan to do?

B
【答案】60.D 61.C 62.A

61.推理判断题。根据第一段“Small adjustments to your daily routine can go a long way toward protecting your body’s control center and preventing cognitive decline down the road.(对日常生活进行一些小的调整,对于保护你身体的控制中心(大脑)以及预防日后的认知能力下降大有帮助)” 以及后文介绍的具体方法可知,文章主要目的是提供一些预防认知能力下降的简单方法。故选C。
62.推理判断题。根据第一段“Small adjustments to your daily routine can go a long way toward protecting your body’s control center and preventing cognitive decline down the road.(对日常生活进行一些小的调整,对于保护你身体的控制中心(大脑)以及预防日后的认知能力下降大有帮助)” 以及后文介绍的具体方法可知,短文围绕健康建议展开。所以短文来自医疗杂志。故选A。
【答案】63.A 64.C 65.B 66.B
【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章讲述社交媒体和互联网改变饮食烹饪方式,网络烹饪视频兴起,分析其特点、与传统差异及对烹饪文化的影响。
63.推理判断题。根据第二段“People who learned to cook in kitchens or through books may scoff at the spread of online - cooking videos. But chefs have long embraced technology to instruct, share their culinary visions and build their careers. In the 1960s - 70s Julia Child used television and helped popularize cookbooks, demystifying French food for those cooking at home.(那些在厨房或通过书本学习烹饪的人可能会嘲笑在线烹饪视频的传播。但厨师们长期以来一直接受利用技术来指导、分享他们的烹饪理念并成就他们的事业。在 20 世纪 60-70 年代,朱莉娅・查尔德利用电视并帮助推广烹饪书籍,为在家烹饪的人揭开法国美食的神秘面纱。)”可知,作者以朱莉娅・查尔德为例,是为了表明厨师们很早就利用技术来传播烹饪理念,现在在线烹饪视频的流行并非全新现象,故选A项。
64.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“Sometimes creators are surprised by which of their videos take off. Mr. DiGiovanni recalls his first popular video, which showed him making a chocolate bar from whole cacao pods; it was ‘poorly shot: the lighting was messed up; it was overexposed’. But it has attracted almost 14m views.(有时创作者会对自己哪些视频会走红感到惊讶。迪乔瓦尼先生回忆起他第一个受欢迎的视频,视频中他用整个可可豆荚制作巧克力棒;这个视频‘拍摄得很差:灯光混乱;曝光过度’。但它已经吸引了近 1400 万浏览量。)” 可知,即使是创作者自己都难以预料哪个视频会走红,所以即使是受尊敬的厨师也不能保证他们的视频一定会成功。故选C项。
65.推理判断题。由文章最后一句“Now can you please pass the feta?(现在你能递给我羊乳酪吗?)”
通读全文,尤其是第一段“Social media and the Internet are changing the way we eat and cook. (社交媒体和互联网正在改变我们的饮食和烹饪方式)”可知,文章主要讲述了社交媒体和互联网改变了人们烹饪和饮食的方式,介绍了网络烹饪视频的兴起、特点以及其对烹饪文化的影响,所以B选项A Taste of Trends: Culinary Journey Reshaped Online(品味潮流:在线重塑的烹饪之旅) 准确概括了文章主旨。故选B项。

【答案】67.B 68.D 69.A 70.E
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了英国戏剧的发展以及剧院的布局特点。
67.根据上文“The arch runs across the building with the stage on one side of it and the auditorium, housing the audience, on the other. The audience is kept to the area from which it can get a clear view of the stage. (拱门横跨整个建筑,舞台在它的一侧,容纳观众的礼堂在另一侧。观众被限制在可以清楚地看到舞台的地方。)”可推知此处介绍了剧院的布局,B选项“当人们看戏剧或表演时,它使人们觉得他们在看一幅生动的、移动的画面。”符合语境,说明这样布局的原因。故选B。
68.设空处为本段的主题句。根据下文“Stage furniture or properties-props”, as they are referred to in the business -are now as few as possible.
69.根据下文“The famous speeches of Hamlet, for instance, can be delivered more quietly and naturally than they were in the last century. (例如,哈姆雷特的著名演讲可以比上个世纪更安静、更自然地发表。)”可知这是在举例说明戏剧习俗发生了变化,所以A选项“在过去的几十年里,自第二次世界大战以来,戏剧的习俗发生了变化。”符合题意,紧密承接下文,故选A。
70.根据下文“The result of these improvements is that, in spite of the high price of seats, perhaps more people than ever before are keen on theatre-going. (这些改进的结果是,尽管票价很高,但也许比以往任何时候都有更多的人热衷于去剧院。)”可推知上文是关于剧院的改进,选项E“由于许多改进,今天的剧院舒适多了。”符合题意,故选E。

【答案】Dear Lihua;
I'm glad to hear that you have access to participating in an overseas communication activity in Britain which will last two months. I suggest that you should choose working as a volunteer thirty hours every month for the local community to gain a chance to stay in it for free.
My reasons are as follows. Not only can you enhance your social experiences, but also you can reduce your costs. Contrary to the accommodation arranged by the host, you can save a lot of money. Undoubtedly, the cost must be high if you choose it. On one hand, only by working as a volunteer can you gain a free stay. It sounds great! Your arrival will add colors to the atmosphere there .On the other hand, during your spare time you will also spend time helping others to be a warm -hearted person. Your arrival will also reduce the burdens there. As an old saying goes, “we can gain both things at the same time”, so why not choose one?
I hope that you will take my advice. It is a golden chance that you will gain in summer vacation.
Yours,
Li Ming

76.Dear Lihua;
Yours,
Li Ming

During the seven years that i've been working with the aircraft parts marketing team and familiar with each new project assignment, I think it's fair to say that I contribute a lot more value today than I did about seven years ago. One reason is that with each technical project, I bring more technical know how than I did before. I make a conscious effort to learn from past mistakes and successes and to make sure that each new project benefits from the lessons that i've learned in the previous ones. Another factor is leadership, the ability to lead troubled projects to success. We are a brazilian passenger aircraft project was in trouble last year, I stepped in. When distribution service projects in germany nearly fail through this year, I stepped in. I think you are familiar with my nickname, the fireman, and the gold to guy who gets caught in to put up fires and get troubled projects. Get away again, I could go on, but I think you get the picture. Business today is about creating value at all levels, and i'm all about value. So I think you agree that i'm due for a pay raise. I like White coffee. so do I, but I like black coffee today. During my last class, I was thinking about coming here and could almost taste the coffee. Sounds like IT wasn't too interesting. I was born to death. I am in that psychology class only because IT is a requirement, so I have to stick IT out. The problem is the professor doesn't know how to arouse our interest. SHE just walks in, gives the lectures and assignments. There's no discussion. Do you have any classes like that? I have only one big lecture class, world history and the professors the best. It's so appealing that i'm always on the edge of my seat. And when we have discussions, the room was filled with electricity. I'm jealous. IT is so bad, I have already taken vote history. You know, one day, IT occurred to me that I was lucky to be in her class because I found myself thinking a lot about what he said, did you ever have a teacher like that? I'd have to think about IT. You should come with me to class some time just to see what I mean. I guess what I really comes down to is her enthusiasm for the subject. I remember at the beginning of this semester, I was not taking anything in school very seriously. I booed the first history test, but then I started really enjoying school, especially her class. You have got me really curious about this teacher. I think I will visit your class. When does IT meet? Um this coffee is really strong. IT is so strong.
