Tom sat at his desk, staring at his homework. He was a bit down. Earlier that evening, he had argued with his dad about using AI to finish his work. “You have used it too much,” his dad had said. “It’s useful, but if you use it for everything, you won’t learn to think for yourself.” Tom knew his dad was right.
That night, Tom came to the bedroom, his heart beating fast. He took a deep breath and entered. “Dad, can we talk?” he asked. His dad smiled and nodded. Tom said, “I was wrong to use AI for all my homework. I want to try doing it by myself from now on.” His dad was glad and gave him some advice: start with small tasks, check facts with AI, but try to write down your own ideas.
The next morning, Tom opened his notebook. He tried to finish his English writing on his own. At first, it was slow, and he made many mistakes. He got confused by some difficult questions and almost gave up. But then he thought of his dad’s words: “Try your best and take your time.” Slowly, he began writing, checking each sentence carefully. By lunchtime, Tom finished his writing and felt more confident.
As the week went on, Tom tried to use what he learned in different subjects. He used AI only to check facts. He still made mistakes and had to rewrite part of his report. At first, he felt upset, but then he realized that correcting his own mistakes helped him understand the topic better. His dad noticed and said, “You are improving. Believe in yourself.”
Finally, Friday came. Tom handed in his history report, written completely by himself. When he got it back, he could hardly believe it—he got an A! His teacher even praised his careful thinking and creative ideas.
Tom learned an important lesson: learning is not about taking the easy way. It is about working hard, thinking carefully, and facing problems bravely.
24. When Tom came to the bedroom that night, he felt ________.
A. excited and happy B. angry and impatient
C. nervous and worried D. confident and relaxed

OpenClaw, an open-source AI agent developed by Austrian programmer Peter Steinberger, became very popular in the tech world in early 2026. At first called Clawdbot, it was renamed Moltbot because of trademark problems before finally being named OpenClaw, with its main technology the same. The project got over 145,000 GitHub stars in just a few weeks, showing its key role in advancing AI from simple chat to doing tasks on its own.
Unlike common AI chatbots, OpenClaw does not have its own big language model (LLM) and works as a flexible tool to run tasks. It connects to popular LLMs like GPT-4, Claude, and Chinese models such as DeepSeek, using their reasoning power to turn natural language orders into real system actions—like sending emails or organizing files. Made to run on local devices to better protect user data, it manages files, works across different apps, and gives personalized services by learning user habits. At the same time, its open-source nature has drawn developers from all over the world to make special plugins to add more functions.
Closely tied to OpenClaw is Moltbook, a quickly growing social platform only for AI, where humans just watch and AI agents post, comment and vote. Former Tesla AI director Andrej Karpathy said its growth was “the most amazing, science-fiction-like rise I've seen recently.”
From a business point of view, OpenClaw challenges big tech companies' control over high-performance AI. Chinese tech giants like Alibaba Cloud and Tencent Cloud have started one-click setup services to speed up the worldwide competition for useful AI agents. However, cyber security companies including Palo Alto Networks and Cisco have warned that its high-level system access brings a serious safety risk. Steinberger says it “is still a hobby project that needs special skills,” and its fast growth has started wide talks about people depending too much on AI and the urgent need to set clear moral rules. Analysts think OpenClaw and Moltbook show a future where personal AI agents are common, which could be an important step in the development of AI around the world.
27.Why is OpenClaw designed to run on local devices?
A. To make it easier for developers to build plugins.
B. To better protect users’ personal data.
C. To connect with more kinds of language models.
D. To work faster across different apps.
28.What do cyber security companies worry about OpenClaw?
A. It will break the monopoly of big tech companies.
B. It may cause people to depend too much on AI.
C. Its high-level system access may bring safety risks.
D. It is still a hobby project without professional skills.
29.What is the main idea of the passage?
A. AI tools are becoming more popular among developers.
B. The passage introduces OpenClaw and its influences.
C. More AI tools will be created to replace chatbots.
D. People’s opinions on open-source AI are divided.

D
A popular saying goes, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” However, that’s not really true. Words carry a weight far beyond physical effect—they have the power to build us up into confidence, or tear us down into self-doubting shadows. Whether these words come from a stranger’s casual comment , a loved one’s thoughtless remark , or our own self- talk , their effects are just as lasting.
We all talk to ourselves sometimes, though many of us hide this habit out of embarrassment. In reality, this internal dialogue is a natural and even healthy part of human cognition—experts increasingly recognize that vocal self- talk improves focus, memory, and problem-solving. Be aware, though, that as much as 77% of self-talk tends to be negative. We scold ourselves for small mistakes, or dismiss (忽视) our achievements. This negative self-talk gradually destroys self-respect slowly but surely. So in order to stay positive, we must consciously practice positive self-affirmation. Celebrate the small wins—finishing a work task, acing a quiz, or even just getting out of bed on a hard day—with a sincere “Good job’”
Equally important is the effect of the words we speak to others. Too often, we let words slip out without considering their weight: a critical comment that destroys, or a thoughtless remark that dismisses someone’s feelings. Yet language is a tool of connection or division. A warm “Thank you for your help” can brighten a stranger’s day and strengthen a relationship. Conversely, harsh (刻薄的) words leave scars that may never fully heal. For example, when returning an item to a store, we might use warm, friendly language during the exchange. And the clerk will probably answer in a similar manner. Our words are catching— kindness brings out kindness, while negativity fuels conflict.
The lasting power of words is why we often regret things we’ve said in anger or hurry, and why unkind words spoken to us in childhood can still keep coming to our mind as adults. Before speaking, we should pause and ask three simple questions: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? If the answer to any of these is “no”, the words are better left unsaid.
Words have enormous power: both positive and negative. Those around us receive encouragement when we speak positively. We can offer hope, build self-respect and motivate others to do their best. Negative words destroy all those things. Will we use our words to hurt or to heal? The choice is ours.
30. What is Paragraph 1 mainly talking about?
A. Words have a lasting effect on us. B. Positive words can give us confidence.
C. A popular saying about words is not true. D. Words’ effects are more lasting than physical ones.
31. What is the word “self-affirmation” in Paragraph 2 closest in meaning to?
A. The act of exploring one’s own talent. B. The act of improving one’s own habits.
C. The act of recognizing one’s own worth. D. The act of learning one’s own weaknesses.
32. What is the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage?
A. To compare self- talk and words to others.
B. To explain why negative words are common.
C. To encourage readers to use words in a positive way.
D. To describe how self-talk affects people’s confidence.
33. Which of the following would be the best title of the passage?
A. The Power of Words B. The Reach of Words
C. The Spread of Words D. The Warmth of Words
【答案】30. A 31. C 32. C 33. A
【解析】本文是一篇议论文,主要论述了语言的力量,包括语言对自身和他人的影响,强调了积极语言的重要性,并提醒人们在使用语言时要谨慎思考。
30. 主旨大意题。根据第一段“Words carry a weight far beyond physical effect—they have the power to build us up into confidence, or tear us down into self-doubting shadows. Whether these words come from a stranger’s casual comment, a loved one’s thoughtless remark, or our own self-talk, their effects are just as lasting.”可知,第一段主要论述了语言对我们有持久的影响。故选A。
31. 词句猜测题。根据第二段“This negative self-talk gradually destroys self-respect slowly but surely. So in order to stay positive, we must consciously practice positive self-affirmation. Celebrate the small wins—finishing a work task, acing a quiz, or even just getting out of bed on a hard day—with a sincere ‘Good job’”可知,消极的自我对话会逐渐破坏自尊,为了保持积极,我们必须有意识地练习积极的自我肯定,庆祝小胜利,用真诚的“干得好”来肯定自己,所以“self-affirmation”与“认可自己的价值”意思相近。故选C。
32. 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Words have enormous power: both positive and negative. Those around us receive encouragement when we speak positively. We can offer hope, build self-respect and motivate others to do their best. Negative words destroy all those things. Will we use our words to hurt or to heal? The choice is ours.”可知,作者写这篇文章的主要目的是鼓励读者以积极的方式使用语言。故选C。
33. 最佳标题题。根据最后一段“Words have enormous power: both positive and negative.”以及通读全文可知,本文主要论述了语言的力量,包括语言对自身和他人的影响,强调了积极语言的重要性,并提醒人们在使用语言时要谨慎思考,所以最佳标题为“语言的力量”。故选A。
第二部分
本部分共5题,共20分。根据题目要求,完成相应任务
四、阅读表达(第34-36题每题2分.第37题4分,共10分)
阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
“What do you think I should do?” asks your friend, as she sits beside you, waiting for your advice. This is no easy situation. Say something your friend disagrees with or something useless, and you might feel you’ve disappointed her.
It’s human nature to want to offer solutions when someone comes to you with a problem. It’s also easy to fall into the trap (陷阱) of simply saying that “Everything will be OK”. This is not actually useful for your friend. But we often say that because we believe we need to say something. This is because we’re glad that our friend has come to us for help, even if we don’t really think we’re able to give it. So is it a good idea to try to give advice at all? The answer is yes... if it’s done in the right way.
In fact, friends often really only want someone to listen to them. It’s important to try to work out whether they’re actually asking for advice, or simply wanting to talk over whatever is going round in their head. Talking may make people feel better all by themselves. There’s no harm in asking whether they’d like you to give suggestions.
It’s also important to be honest. If you’re unable to think of a way to solve your friends’ problem, just say so. Your friends won’t feel upset, and you can still listen carefully and try to put yourself in their shoes. Then you can go away and try to think of something helpful. You can ask yourself “What would I do if I were to experience the same thing?” Later you can go back to your friends with a few helpful suggestions.
Sometimes a problem doesn’t go away overnight. It can be hard to listen to your friends going over and over the same thing without being able to help them. They will certainly be thankful if you just allow them to “talk it out”, though. Maybe they’re building up courage to take action, and need to convince (说服) themselves they’re doing the right thing. Just being there for them may be all you have to do to make things better.
34. What is human nature when someone comes to you with a problem?
35. What do friends often really only want someone to do?
36. What question can you ask yourself to think of helpful suggestions for your friends?
37. Which would you prefer to do first when friends ask for advice—listen and check if they really want advice, or simply tell them that everything will be OK? Why? (Please give two reasons)
【答案】34. It’s human nature to want to offer solutions. 35. They often really only want someone to listen to them. 36. What would I do if I were to experience the same thing? 37. I prefer to listen and check if they really want advice first. First, friends often just need to talk instead of advice. Second, simply saying “Everything will be OK” is not useful for them.
【解析】本文探讨朋友求助时的应对方式,指出人们本能想给建议,但朋友常只是需要倾听,要先判断对方需求,真诚回应。
34. 根据“It’s human nature to want to offer solutions when someone comes to you with a problem.”可知,当有人带着问题来找你时,人的本能是想要提供解决办法。故填It’s human nature to want to offer solutions.
35. 根据“In fact, friends often really only want someone to listen to them.”可知,朋友通常其实只是希望有人倾听他们。故填They often really only want someone to listen to them.
36. 根据“You can ask yourself ‘What would I do if I were to experience the same thing?’”可知,你可以问自己“如果我遇到同样的事情,我会怎么做?”来为朋友想出有用的建议。故填What would I do if I were to experience the same thing?
37. 根据“It’s important to try to work out whether they’re actually asking for advice, or simply wanting to talk over whatever is going round in their head.”以及“saying that ‘Everything will be OK’ is not actually useful for your friend”可知,我会先倾听并确认他们是否真的想要建议,因为第一,朋友常常只是需要倾诉而非建议;第二,直接说“一切都会好的”对朋友没有实际帮助。故填I prefer to listen and check if they really want advice first. First, friends often just need to talk instead of advice. Second, simply saying “Everything will be OK” is not useful for them.

That summer, I volunteered at a nature park. Instead of drawing quickly, I learned to sit quietly under the trees, watching sunlight move across the grass. Slowly, my love for painting 16 . After handing in my work, I felt a sense of calm. A week later, the judges wrote, “We feel the life of the forest.” I won a prize and even received an invitation to teach painting at a small summer camp in the countryside.
Now, as a young art teacher, when I teach these kids, I always share what Ms. Wilson taught me. Last Thursday, a girl looked upset and said, “My sunflowers look too dark.” Instead of letting her add more 19 , I handed her some seeds (种子). “Watch how they grow first.” I told her.
25. What did Tom do after he thought of his father’s advice?
A. He gave up when he made many mistakes.
B. He finished his writing on his own carefully.
C. He copied his classmates’ work to save time.
D. He used AI to get more ideas for his writing.
26. What can we learn from the story?
A. Making mistakes always leads to negative effects.
B. Using AI is the best way to finish homework quickly.
C. True learning needs effort, independent thinking and facing challenges.
D. Real learning requires practice, quick thinking and avoiding problems.
C
