The most important lesson I learned in high school had nothing to do with maths or American history. It came at 16 , several minutes before I left Miramonte High School.
I was rather shy back then, content to hang around with my few friends and to concentrate on my 17 . I was doing so well that by the end of senior year I had perfect scores and enough 18 to go to college.
But my good record soon became a 19 to my well-being. In early June of senior year, the headmaster called me into his office. He asked me to give a leave-taking speech at graduation. I looked at him, my heart 20 fast. This was the 21 for my hard work? I said something, but not very clearly, and hurried away from the office
I was 22 about the decision, finally agreeing to compromise (妥协). I wasn’t the only speaker — I would 23 the honor with five other students. However, it was doubtful whether the task was 24 me. How in the world would I give a speech to hundreds of people?
Graduation day soon arrived and, as 25 , I was nervous. I’d been practicing my speech for days, and I had it 26 . But I had never been so 27 in my life. The first half hour of the ceremony passed, and then my 28 came. My name was announced. I managed to reach the platform without falling down. But within minutes, I finished my speech, 29 back to my seat and feeling unsatisfied with my performance.
Now I still have the 30 of that speech. My voice trembled a little, but 31 it was clear and strong. I’m proud of that tape. I achieved something I’d never 32 — I spoke in front of hundreds of people. 33 I didn’t realize it at the time, the successful completion of that speech gave me the 34 to participate in class at college, to give oral reports, and to eventually break free of my 35 .
I would never have chosen to give a speech at graduation. But I am glad I did. I know it may well turn out to be one of my shining moments.

My eight-year-old son, Jack, is a boy with autism (孤独症). Even though I always hear from others that he is very bright and he is making enough progress to meet goals, I am still anxious walking into their parents’ meetings.
Last fall’s parents’ meeting was even worse for me. I noticed Jack making a great effort to keep up with others. Some parents watched Jack and whispered and no children were willing to play with him. I started to see the social divide between Jack and his peers widening.
After the parents’ meeting, his teacher spent long time talking to me. She told me that it was getting more difficult for Jack to meet goals just because he was bright. Some teachers and students always complained about Jack’s actions. She also advised me to think about whether the normal class was the best setting for him. Hearing these words, I was very upset.
Then she blew my mind. She showed me one example of Jack’s works and said, “I didn’t know how to grade this. It’s not even wrong, but it’s not right.” I grasped when she said “not even wrong”, which is the name of one of my favorite books on autism, by Paul Collins. The book says a girl whose idea is so far off base but it is not even wrong. It perfectly describes autism and it perfectly describes Jack.
In his book, Paul Collins wrote, “Children with autism are like the square pegs (钉,桩). Hitting a square peg into a round hole is hard work. What’s worse, it’s destroying the square pegs.”
As a mother of a boy with autism, I want to help find more square holes. I want this world to be a world where it is okay to be a square peg without having to pretend to be round. We have been hammering (锤打) square pegs into round holes for a long time. Now we should put down the hammers. And I hope that some of those kids told their parents. And I hope that some of you read this and tell your kids. And I hope that we, all of us together, CAN change the world.
41.Last fall’s parents’ meeting________.
A.gave more joy to the author B.frightened the author greatly
C.left the author quite concerned D.seemed wonderful for the author
42.What does the underlined word “divide” in the second paragraph mean?
A.Impression. B.Distinction. C.Personality. D.Brightness.
43.When the teacher said “not even wrong” in Paragraph 4, she meant ________.
A.Jack had a special thinking style B.she actually told a white lie
C.she just tried to please the author D.Jack had been entirely wrong
44.According to Paragraph 5, Paul Collins agrees that ________.
A.a round hole fits a square peg B.hitting can never destroy the square pegs
C.children with autism tend to be hard- working D.people should let children with autism be themselves
45.What is the author’s purpose of writing this passage?
A.To change people’s opinion on autism. B.To give some examples of autism.
C.To advise people to buy a book on autism. D.To warn people of the risk of autism.

Whether we are sitting down or standing up, still or moving, body posture (姿势) influences our mood. Several studies have shown this link between physical posture and mood. Others have shown a relationship between our mood and our cognitive (认知的) performance, including memory, reasoning, learning, and the speed of reaction and processing of information.
So a logical question arises. Can body posture influence our cognitive performance?
Previously, a New Zealand team (University of Auckland) carried out an experiment on posture when we walk, especially in the street. The team had found a very clear influence of our posture on our mood and confidence. It appears that walking with a hunched back, bowed head and motionless (静止的) arms has a negative influence on our mental state.
Indeed, the researchers found that the simple act of straightening up, standing up straight, with your head held high, and gazing forward gives us a serious boost of confidence. Not only does our spontaneous (自发的) posture have a psychological effect, but by correcting it, it is possible to bring about improvement in the long term.
In this other study, this time carried out by an Austrian team (Friedrich Alexander University in Erlangen-Nuremberg), researchers observed the same phenomenon, this time in a sitting position. Young adults were invited to participate in tests presented as intended to assess their ability to concentrate. In fact, the researchers had them sit in different postures — from upright to very slumped (耸拉着的) — in order to note their influences on mood and cognition.
A first observation indicates that “sitting upright” is associated with a better overall mood. It is also found to have a positive influence on the speed of processing information and completing tasks, although the test pass rate does not vary significantly with posture.
Finally, and surprisingly enough, blood pressure is a little more favorable in an upright position. To further complete the list of benefits of sitting upright, we will add that it is widely recommended for protecting the back in case of work that requires sitting for a long time.
46.Why does the writer mention the studies at the beginning?
A.To introduce what cognitive performance is.
B.To emphasize the importance of body posture.
C.To prove the results of those studies are wrong.
D.To raise a new question to be studied and solved.
47.The underlined word “hunched” in Paragraph 3 means ______.
A.straightened B.bent C.loose D.solid
48.The first study indicates that ______.
A.posture influences our mental state B.straightening up has a negative effect
C.gazing upward builds up confidence D.walking posture is especially important
49.What did the Austrian study focus on?
A.Proving the long-term benefits of good posture.
B.Assessing concentration levels in young adults.
C.The psychological effects of sitting in different postures.
D.Noting the effects of different sitting positions on mood and cognition.
50.What can we learn about sitting upright?
A.It increases blood pressure. B.It requires sitting for a long time.
C.It has mental and physical benefits. D.It helps improve the test pass rate.
D
In an era dominated by digital streams, my appreciation deepens for physical diaries — handwritten on paper — as a vital guard against the widespread influence of AI. Human thoughts and expressions risk being abused, processed by algorithms (算法) that lack insights. AI models often greedily swallow artists’ and writers’ works to fuel their systems, putting almost all online content under threat. The physical nature of diaries forms a crucial defense. If we hope to preserve the real human voice from chatbots and refuse to let our writing train AI, a pen and a simple notebook may be our strongest tools.
Diaries are uniquely suited to capturing individual lives and imaginations. The very essence of a diary is temporary, meant to catch life’s short-lived moments. This is a task chatbots cannot perform, because they lack genuine perception, thought, or tender human senses. A diary serves as a secure space for one’s deepest feelings and reflections on the world, a form of thinking irreplaceable by AI. Its physical form offers a screen-free shelter for mindfulness, fostering a deeper connection with one’s thoughts.
The power of handwritten diaries also lies in their resistance to digital erosion. Unlike mobile phones that limit prospects and lock users out of their own minds, a physical diary does not fog brains, numb fingers, or profit from personal data. It remains a personal possession, beyond the reach of AI companies seeking training data. The act of writing by hand enhances memory and emotional expression, creating a physical record of one’s life journey. This non-digital activity offers a deliberate break from the restless digital pace, offering a routine of self-care and a bridge between the past, present and future.
Throughout history, diaries have served as lasting records against powerful structures. Our collective memory would be poorer without Anne Frank’s messages or the diary that begins George Orwell’s “Nineteen Eighty-Four”. Diarists form a universal underground, using pen and paper to resist the threats of the digital world. They protect not just privacy but the very integrity of personal stories from algorithm-based control of information and data mining.
Ultimately, the humble diary is more than a record; it is an act of protection. In the quiet conversation between pen and paper, we safeguard the human voice— imperfect, personal, and free from the tide of artificial intelligence.
What role does the physical diary play in the digital world?
51.What role does the physical diary play in the digital world?
A.A tech-free space for deeper self-reflection. B.A tool to quickly generate more information.
C.An opportunity to defend passed-down heritage. D.An instruction on how to embrace new technology.
52.What advantage does handwriting have over mobile phones to keep diaries?
A.It bears significant health and social benefits. B.It allows for much faster data input and output.
C.It raises much awareness of self, time and space. D.It involves both mental and emotional responses.
53.How does the fourth paragraph contribute to the passage’s argument?
A.By suggesting potentials in economy and reputation.
B.By listing supporting and typical examples in history.
C.By summarizing previously discussed perspectives.
D.By analyzing from the view of diary enthusiasts.
54.What can be inferred about those who keep diaries?
A.They are strongly opposed to technological progress.
B.They believe AI will wipe out diaries sooner or later.
C.They value privacy and sincerity over convenience.
D.They write mainly for public recognition and fame.
55.What is the author’s attitude towards physical diaries?
A.Critical. B.Indifferent. C.Positive. D.Doubtful.

When I was in school, the class I dreaded most was my eighth grade art class. The teacher put down my every attempt at completing an assignment. I simply couldn’t produce art the way she wanted it. Luckily, I’d already proven myself in other creative areas. Yet, that art teacher was successful in convincing me that I had no talent for painting, drawing, or anything related to them. Imagine my surprise when I published my nature photography and became a volunteer art teacher!
Unfortunately, my story is all too familiar to many people who come through my workshops and practice. Even more unfortunately, the vast majority of people were so discouraged in childhood that they cut off the creative impulse (冲动) in most areas of their lives. Their teachers, parents, or classmates convinced them they had no talent, so they gave up. The pain of failure was simply too great.
Why have we forgotten creativity is an experience, not a result? Let’s consider why we express creativity in first place. To be creative is to be human. Everything we’ve at our disposal (处理) is the result of someone’s creative expression and willingness to take a risk. Even so, for creativity to flower and feel free of encumbrance (累赘), it needs to be about the joyful moments spent creating, not just about what we’ve to show for those moments. Whatever pattern you need to break, try to make it about the pleasure and not about the outcome.
Therefore, I’d urge you to curb your perfectionism not enthusiasm! Perfectionism is the leading killer of artistic expression. Relax a little and bring back your childlike nature when you create. Children instinctively (本能地) know how to give over to the joy --- until someone teaches them otherwise! Let your creation be whatever it wants to be. See if it can lead you rather than the other way around. Let your unconsciousness come through, and let the expression of yourself be beautiful regardless of how it compares to anything else. After all, it’s yours, and no one but you could create it!
56.What made the author give up his dream of art? (no more than 15 words)
57.What does the third paragraph mainly tell us? (no more than 10 words)
58.Please explain the underlined word “curb” in English. (no more than 5 words)
59.According to the passage, what is necessary for a creative person? (no more than 10 words)

The most important lesson I learned in high school had nothing to do with maths or American history. It came at 16 , several minutes before I left Miramonte High School.

I achieved something I’d never 32 — I spoke in front of hundreds of people. 33 I didn’t realize it at the time, the successful completion of that speech gave me the 34 to participate in class at college, to give oral reports, and to eventually break free of my 35 .

根据第二段中的“Some parents watched Jack and whispered and no children were willing to play with him. I started to see the social divide between Jack and his peers widening.(一些家长看着杰克窃窃私语,没有孩子愿意和他玩。我开始发现杰克和同龄人之间的社交______在扩大。)”可知,杰克与同龄人之间存在社交上的差异、隔阂,由此可猜测“divide”意为“差别、差距”。故选B项。
43.推理判断题。根据第四段中的“I grasped when she said “not even wrong”, which is the name of one of my favorite books on autism, by Paul Collins. The book says a girl whose idea is so far off base but it is not even wrong. It perfectly describes autism and it perfectly describes Jack. (当她说“连错都不是”时我明白了,这是我最喜欢的一本关于孤独症的书的名字,作者是保罗·柯林斯。这本书说一个女孩的想法虽然偏离常规,但连错都不是。这完美地描述了孤独症,也完美地描述了杰克。)”可知,老师的意思是杰克有着特殊的思维方式。故选A项。
根据第五段中的“In his book, Paul Collins wrote, “Children with autism are like the square pegs (钉,桩). Hitting a square peg into a round hole is hard work. What’s worse, it’s destroying the square pegs.”(保罗·柯林斯在他的书中写道:“孤独症儿童就像方钉子。把方钉子硬塞进圆洞里是件费力的事。更糟糕的是,这会毁掉这些方钉子。”)”可知,保罗·柯林斯认为人们应该让孤独症孩子做自己。故选D项。
45.推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“As a mother of a boy with autism, I want to help find more square holes. I want this world to be a world where it is okay to be a square peg without having to pretend to be round.(作为一个孤独症男孩的母亲,我想帮助找到更多的方孔。我希望这个世界可以接纳方钉,不必让他们假装成圆钉。)”可知,作者写作目的是改变人们对孤独症的看法。故选A项。
C
【答案】46.D 47.B 48.A 49.D 50.C
根据第一段“Several studies have shown this link between physical posture and mood. Others have shown a relationship between our mood and our cognitive (认知的) performance, including memory, reasoning, learning, and the speed of reaction and processing of information.(几项研究表明身体姿势与情绪之间存在联系。另一些研究表明情绪与我们的认知表现之间存在关系,包括记忆、推理、学习以及信息反应和处理速度)”和第二段“ So a logical question arises. Can body posture influence our cognitive performance?(于是一个合理的问题出现了:身体姿势会影响我们的认知表现吗?)”
根据第三段“It appears that walking with a hunched back, bowed head and motionless (静止的) arms has a negative influence on our mental state.(看来,hunched背、低头、手臂不动地走路对我们的精神状态有负面影响)”可知,这里指驼背走路对我们的精神状态有负面影响,所以hunched意为“弯曲的、驼背的”,与bent含义相近。故选B项。
根据第三段“The team had found a very clear influence of our posture on our mood and confidence.(该团队发现我们的姿势对情绪和自信心有非常明显的影响)”可知,第一项研究表明姿势会影响我们的精神状态。故选A项。
根据第五段“In fact, the researchers had them sit in different postures — from upright to very slumped (耸拉着的) — in order to note their influences on mood and cognition.(事实上,研究人员让他们以不同的姿势坐着,从端正到非常佝偻,以便记录这些姿势对情绪和认知的影响)”可知,奥地利的研究关注不同坐姿对情绪和认知的影响。故选D项。
根据第六段“A first observation indicates that “sitting upright” is associated with a better overall mood. It is also found to have a positive influence on the speed of processing information and completing tasks, although the test pass rate does not vary significantly with posture.(初步观察显示,坐姿端正与整体情绪更佳有关。研究还发现,这对信息处理和完成任务的速度有积极影响,尽管测试通过率不会因姿势不同而有显著差异)”和第七段“Finally, and surprisingly enough, blood pressure is a little more favorable in an upright position. To further complete the list of benefits of sitting upright, we will add that it is widely recommended for protecting the back in case of work that requires sitting for a long time.(最后,令人惊讶的是,坐姿端正时血压状态更好。为了进一步完善坐姿端正的好处,我们还要补充,对于需要长时间坐着工作的人来说,端正坐姿被广泛推荐用于保护背部)”可推知,坐姿端正对精神和身体都有益处。故选C项。

55.What is the author’s attitude towards physical diaries?
A.Critical. B.Indifferent. C.Positive. D.Doubtful.
【答案】51.A 52.D 53.B 54.C 55.C
根据第二段中“A diary serves as a secure space for one’s deepest feelings and reflections on the world, a form of thinking irreplaceable by AI. Its physical form offers a screen-free shelter for mindfulness, fostering a deeper connection with one’s thoughts. (日记是一个安全的空间,容纳一个人最深层的情感和对世界的反思,这是一种AI无法替代的思维形式。它的实体形式提供了一个无屏幕的正念庇护所,培养与自身思想的更深层次联系)”可知,纸质日记在数字世界中扮演着无技术空间以供深度自省的角色。故选A项。
根据第三段中“The act of writing by hand enhances memory and emotional expression, creating a physical record of one’s life journey. (手写的行为能增强记忆和情感表达,创造一个人生旅程的实体记录)”可知,手写日记相对于手机的优势在于它涉及了记忆和情感表达,即心智和情感反应。故选D项。
53.推理判断题。根据第四段中“Our collective memory would be poorer without Anne Frank’s messages or the diary that begins George Orwell’s “Nineteen Eighty-Four”. (如果没有安妮·弗兰克的信息,或者没有开启乔治·奥威尔《一九八四》的那本日记,我们的集体记忆将会更加贫乏)”可知,第四段通过列举历史上具有代表性的日记例子来支持文章关于日记是抵御强大力量、保护个人故事的论据。故选B项。
54.推理判断题。根据第三段中“It remains a personal possession, beyond the reach of AI companies seeking training data. (它仍然是个人财产,不受寻求训练数据的人工智能公司的触及)”以及第四段中“They protect not just privacy but the very integrity of personal stories from algorithm-based control of information and data mining. (我对纸质日记——手写在纸上的日记——的欣赏加深了,它是抵御人工智能广泛影响的重要卫士)”以及最后一段中“Ultimately, the humble diary is more than a record; it is an act of protection. (最终,这本不起眼的日记不仅仅是一份记录;它是一种保护行为)”可知,作者对纸质日记持积极、肯定的态度。故选C项。
第II卷
注意事项:
1.用黑色墨水的钢笔或签字笔将答案写在答题卡上。
2.本卷共6小题,共35分。
第三部分:写作
第一节:阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读短文,并按照题目要求用英语回答问题。
60.Do you think you are more creative as a student? Please give an example. (no more than 25 words)
56.His teacher discouraged him and said he had no talent for art.
Or: His teacher convinced him that he had no talent for art. 57.Creativity is an experience, not a result.
Or: We should enjoy being creative. 58.Limit. / Control. / Hold. / Keep...within limits. / Keep...under control. 59.The childlike nature of creativity. 60.Open.
Yes, perhaps I am. I used to draw a lot of imaginative pictures in childhood.
Or: Yes, I often make some interesting handmade things by myself.
根据“Yet, that art teacher was successful in convincing me that I had no talent for painting, drawing, or anything related to them.然而,那位美术老师成功地让我相信,我没有绘画以及与它有关的任何东西的天赋。” 可知“His teacher discouraged him and said he had no talent for art” 符合语境。 故填His teacher discouraged him and said he had no talent for art. Or: His teacher convinced him that he had no talent for art.
根据“Why have we forgotten creativity is an experience, not a result? Let’s consider why we express creativity in first place. 为什么我们忘记了创造力是一种经验而不是一种结果。”可知“We should enjoy being creative 我们应该享受创造的过程。” Creativity is an experience, not a result. Or: We should enjoy being creative.
根据后文“Perfectionism is the leading killer of artistic expression. 完美主义是艺术表现的头号杀手。”可知第四段第一句 “Therefore, I’d urge you to curb your perfectionism not enthusiasm! 因此,我们应该督促自己去“控制”我们的完美主义思想。” 故填Limit. / Control. / Hold. / Keep...within limits. / Keep...under control。
根据“Relax a little and bring back your childlike nature when you create. 当你创作的时候,放松一点,找回你童真的本性。”可知“The childlike nature of creativity.” The childlike nature of creativity.
Different people have different ideas. Yes, perhaps I am. I used to draw a lot of imaginative pictures in childhood. Or: Yes, I often make some interesting handmade things by myself。
