In the digital age, technology is developing at an unprecedented speed, and the world around us is changing rapidly. In this context, lifelong learning has become more important than ever before. Lifelong learning refers to the process of acquiring knowledge and skills throughout one’s life, rather than just during formal education periods such as childhood and adolescence.
One of the main reasons why lifelong learning is essential in the digital age is the rapid update of knowledge and technology. New technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of things are constantly emerging, and the knowledge and skills that were useful yesterday may become obsolete today. For example, a programmer who learned a certain programming language 10 years ago may find that it is no longer used in the industry, and he needs to learn new programming languages to keep up with the times. If people stop learning, they will easily fall behind and lose their competitive advantage in the job market.
Another reason is that lifelong learning can help people adapt to changes in society. The digital age has brought about great changes in people’s lifestyle and work methods. More and more jobs require people to have digital literacy and the ability to use new technologies. For instance, many traditional jobs such as cashiers and bank tellers are being replaced by self-service machines and online services. People who are willing to learn new skills can find new job opportunities, while those who are unwilling to learn may face unemployment.
In addition, lifelong learning can enrich people’s lives and promote personal growth. Learning new knowledge and skills can broaden people’s horizons, stimulate their creativity, and help them discover new interests. For example, an old man who learns to use a smartphone can keep in touch with his children and grandchildren more easily, and he can also learn about the world through the Internet. A housewife who learns to bake can not only make delicious food for her family but also start a small baking business if she wants to.
Some people may argue that they are too old or too busy to learn. However, with the development of online education, lifelong learning has become more convenient. People can learn at any time and anywhere through online courses, video lectures, and e-books. In fact, age and time are not obstacles to lifelong learning; the real obstacle is the lack of willingness to learn.
In conclusion, lifelong learning is crucial for individuals to adapt to the digital age, maintain their competitive edge, and achieve personal growth. It is a necessary way for people to face the challenges and opportunities brought by the rapid development of technology.

B)In my ninth - grade writing class last year, I met a cowboy who saved his town, a strict father who demanded his son earn straight A's, and a modern - day Juliet who died of heartbreak after her parents rejected the love of her young life. More than once, I found myself wondering just how my students, who'd created these people, knew their subjects so well.
But things were different for their first essay, which was about the question: “Why is writing important?” Most of the essays filled less than one page, and few contained a sentence that could be interpreted as a thesis(论点) statement. I was shocked. Then I realized that the problem was the question itself. They could have written pages on the necessity of computers, but writing, in and of itself, simply didn't strike them as important. This would have to change.
As a new unit started, I asked everyone to write a persuasive piece on a health - related topic of their choice. This time they found the exercise much more interesting. For the next two assignments, a personal - narrative unit followed by a creative - writing workshop, I only required that the piece meet the specifications of its genre(体裁) and that it contain a thesis. The results were staggering. The students took on diverse topics and turned in stories, 10 to 20 pages each, with characters that broadened my view and touched my heart.
I walked into class believing that writing is important as a means of communication. However, my students demonstrated something more important to me. When the final bell rang in June, I walked away with a yearbook full of messages about writing's most powerful significance — the ability to connect people, to put us in another's skin, to teach us what it means to be human.
24. Who are the people mentioned at the beginning of paragraph 1?
A. Ninth graders. B. Students' parents. C. Modern writers. D. Fictional characters.
25. Why did the students perform poorly in writing their first essay?
A. They were not given enough time. B. They had a very limited vocabulary.
C. They misunderstood the question. D. They had little interest in the topic.
26. What does the underlined word “staggering” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. Mixed. B. Amazing C. Similar. D. Disturbing.
27. What does the author's experience show?
A. Teaching is learning. B. Still waters run deep. C. Knowledge is power. D. Practice makes perfect.

Passage 1
Survey data shows that most freshmen regularly use generative AI, often treating it as “an intellectual partner”, Professor John Hampson reported at a faculty (全体教师) meeting in Elite Technology University (ETU). Students most commonly use it to understand difficult concepts, search, generate study materials, and edit writing. Interestingly, the lowest reported use is for generating text.
Meanwhile, students are using faculty office hours and the speaking and writing centers less. In last year’s computer science courses, scores on problem sets increased, yet exam scores declined. “This is concerning,” noted Hampson. “If they were using AI as a study pal, they weren’t absorbing as much as they might think.”
Students want clearer AI policies, and Hampson advised faculty to carefully consider and share what level of use they permit, the reasoning behind it, how to cite use of AI, and examples of what’s permissible. He also encouraged department-wide discussions to best prepare students for a workplace where they will need to know how to write or code with its assistance. “I also believe that students need to learn to write and code unaided, to develop critical thinking skills, their agency as citizens, and also meaning — making the ideas that help them understand their own lives,” he added.
Some professors expressed concerns about how AI use is impacting students’ mental health and learning. Professor George Wilson noted that students are often highly competitive, and “it’s important to create rules so that competition leads to healthy behaviors that make them better educated people.” While some suggested more one-on-one time with students, others noted that budget restrictions would make that difficult.
Professor Poly Burnett observed that lecture attendance is also down. She urged faculty to make lectures something students genuinely want to attend. She also noted that many teachers are making small changes, in hopes of continuing teaching as they’ve previously taught. “We actually have to see this less as a problem and more as an opportunity,” Burnett suggested. “How can ETU lead in rethinking how we teach, how we learn... and have our students be benefiting and being at the leading edge of that?”
1.What does the author imply about the survey findings by using “interestingly” in paragraph 1?
A.They indicate a promising trend. B.They contradict a common assumption.
C.They capture the faculty’s interest. D.They require further investigation.
2.Which of the following changes is mentioned in paragraph 2?
A.Students are interacting more with others.
B.AI use has led to better learning outcomes.
C.Exam scores rose while homework scores fell.
D.Students are using off-line academic services less.
3.Why does Hampson emphasize students writing and coding without AI?
A.To clarify acceptable uses of AI in coursework.
B.To prepare students for future workplace demands.
C.To ensure students develop essential human capacities.
D.To improve students’ long-term academic performance.
4.What is Burnett’s suggestion to the faculty?
A.Make lectures more entertaining.
B.Let students take the leading role.
C.Take the chance to reform education.
D.Adjust teaching slightly to AI challenges.
根据第一段中的“Students most commonly use it to understand difficult concepts, search, generate study materials, and edit writing. Interestingly, the lowest reported use is for generating text.
根据第二段中的“Meanwhile, students are using faculty office hours and the speaking and writing centers less.(与此同时,学生去教师答疑时间和前往口语与写作中心求助的次数减少了。)”
根据第三段中的““I also believe that students need to learn to write and code unaided, to develop critical thinking skills, their agency as citizens, and also meaning — making the ideas that help them understand their own lives,” he added.
根据最后一段中的““We actually have to see this less as a problem and more as an opportunity,” Burnett suggested. “How can ETU lead in rethinking how we teach, how we learn… and have our students be benefiting and being at the leading edge of that?”(伯内特表示:“事实上,我们不该把这更多看作一个问题,而应更多看作一个机遇。
Passage 2
I’m Kim. Despite all its weaknesses, Java has served me well. But I’ve never had strong feelings about Java itself. I liked some things about it, and I hated others. For many years my perspective was simple: I didn’t have to love Java, or whatever programming language, to finish my tasks well. That all changed a few months ago when I wrote my first Kotlin class.
It was a pop-up adapter in just 86 lines, 17 of which were package and import statements, and I couldn’t get over how brief and readable it was. I could barely comprehend how little I wrote to get something to work. It took me a few passes, but all of a sudden, I sensed the difference. This wasn’t just about language features or what the FAQ (frequently asked questions) said the language was capable of. This was about how I felt.
It was genuinely fun. I’d read code over and over and couldn’t believe how much I was accomplishing in so few lines. I couldn’t believe the clarity of the writing. Over the next few days, I wrote more and more Kotlin. I wrote my first extension. Then I rewrote an existing helper class and I wanted to write more. With just a few hours of effort, I cut 94 lines without breaking a sweat. I was amazed, excited, and having a ton of fun. I was also slightly amazed at this fresh experience brought on by a programming language.
Over the next couple of weeks, that pleasant feeling just grew and grew. Whenever I’d have to work with Java, it was painful. I’d find myself rushing through it and making stupid mistakes because I had more important Kotlin files to attend to. But when I opened the Kotlin files, I felt at home, relaxed. The code was beautiful and expressive. It was brief but powerful. I kept finding new ways to write more clearly, more directly. And I was happy.
5.What did Kim initially think of Java?
A.It was rather boring. B.It was very complex.
C.It was a bit unstable. D.It was just workable.
6.What struck Kim most about Kotlin?
A.Its loose structure. B.Its high efficiency.
C.Its official introduction. D.Its numerous functions.
7.Why did Kim rewrite the helper class?
A.To satisfy his interest. B.To check and correct it.
C.To test new coding skills. D.To fix its technical errors.
8.How did Kotlin impact Kim?
A.It broadened his career vision. B.It improved his logical thinking.
C.It transformed his coding style. D.It helped express his true character.

Passage 3
The hot topics of 2025 have naturally become part of their concerns as senior three students approach the college entrance examination and look toward their future. Among the most concerned ones are the integration of AI into education and the change of workplace landscape.
For most seniors, the rapid development of AI represented by models like DeepSeek has already left traces in their study lives. 1 Many “double first-class” (双一流) universities have employed localized versions of such AI tools, which will soon become part of campus life for college students. This technological change is not about replacing human learning but about improving the educational experience. 2 It can help sort out learning materials, analyze weak points, and provide personalized learning suggestions, allowing students to focus more on critical thinking and creative exploration.
3 Young people today pay more attention to work-life balance, and emerging forms of employment such as “digital nomads” have sparked widespread discussions. Students should take action to adapt instead of passively accepting changes. The key to responding to these changes lies in cultivating core competencies that AI cannot replace. 4 These abilities will enable them to adapt to the evolving job market and even leverage AI to create new opportunities.
As the 2026 college entrance examination draws near, every effort made today is laying the foundation for a better tomorrow. Whether it is understanding technological trends or clarifying career directions, staying informed about hot topics helps students better tackle upcoming challenges. 5 The youth should embrace changes with an open mind, meet challenges with a positive attitude, and write their own wonderful stories in the new era.
A.They may think about the role of AI in education.
B.AI has become an essential tool in modern education.
C.Moreover, the widespread use of AI is reshaping the job market.
D.It is important for seniors to balance study and rest during this period.
E.The move towards digital education is reshaping how students acquire knowledge.
F.After all, being prepared is the most effective strategy for facing an uncertain future.
G.Among them are critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and the ability to innovate.
【答案】1.A 2.E 3.C 4.G 5.F
1.上文“For most seniors, the rapid development of AI represented by models like DeepSeek has already left traces in their study lives.(对于大多数高三学生而言,以DeepSeek等模型为代表的人工智能的快速发展,已经在其学习生活中留下了痕迹)”说明AI已融入高三生备考生活,引发学生对AI的关注。下文“Many “double first-class” (双一流) universities have employed localized versions of such AI tools, which will soon become part of campus life for college students.(许多“双一流”大学已经采用了此类人工智能工具的本地化版本,这些工具很快将成为大学生校园生活的一部分)”说明大学采用人工智能。 故选A。
2.上文“This technological change is not about replacing human learning but about improving the educational experience.(这一技术变革并非旨在取代人类学习,而是为了提升教育体验)”说明AI对教育的积极作用。下文“It can help sort out learning materials, analyze weak points, and provide personalized learning suggestions, allowing students to focus more on critical thinking and creative exploration.(它能帮助整理学习资料,分析薄弱环节,并提供个性化的学习建议,使学生能够更专注于批判性思维和创造性探索)”阐述AI优化教育体验的具体作用。
3.上文主要讲述了AI对教育的影响,下文“Young people today pay more attention to work-life balance, and emerging forms of employment such as “digital nomads” have sparked widespread discussions.(如今的年轻人更加注重工作与生活的平衡,而诸如“数字游民”这类新兴的就业形式也引发了广泛的讨论)”讨论了年轻人的就业观和新型就业形式。
4.上文“The key to responding to these changes lies in cultivating core competencies that AI cannot replace.(应对这些变化的关键在于培养人工智能无法取代的核心竞争力)”提出要培养核心竞争力。
Passage 4
Having a goal is one thing; achieving it is another. 6 The key is to break down the journey and use effective strategies to stay on track. Here are several proven strategies and frameworks for defining and reaching your long-term goals.
Make your goals specific and challenging. Start by clearly defining what you want to achieve. A vague (模糊的) goal like “I want to be successful” isn’t very helpful. Instead, make it specific: for example, “I want to become a certified project manager within the next 5 years.” Research shows that specific and challenging goals boost performance far more than easy or vague goals. 7
Break down big goals into milestones. A long-term goal can feel depressing if you look at it as one giant leap. The strategy is to slice it into smaller, manageable pieces. 8 It’s like running a marathon — you focus on reaching the next mile marker rather than obsessing (困扰) about the finish line from the start.
9 A goal set and forgotten is just a dream. Studies suggest that simply writing down your goals — and sharing updates with a friend — can dramatically increase your chances of success, because it turns your intentions into a concrete commitment.
Be flexible and adjust as needed: Long-term planning does not mean rigidly sticking to a script. Over the course of years, industries change, and you will grow and learn. It’s important to review and adjust your long-term goals periodically. 10 Stay committed to the purpose of your goal, but be flexible in the path you take to get there.
A.Track progress and stay devoted.
B.Set a realistic goal appropriate for yourself.
C.If one road is closed, you find an alternative path.
D.Long-term goals often involve many steps and years of work.
E.So, make sure your goal stretches you beyond your comfort zone.
F.You may be surprised by what you can achieve along the journey.
G.This approach creates checkpoint victories that keep you motivated.
【答案】6.D 7.E 8.G 9.A 10.C
6.根据上文“Having a goal is one thing; achieving it is another.(拥有目标是一回事,实现目标则是另一回事。)”和下文“The key is to break down the journey and use effective strategies to stay on track. Here are several proven strategies and frameworks for defining and reaching your long-term goals.(关键在于拆解这段征程,并运用有效的策略坚持下去。
7.根据上文“Research shows that specific and challenging goals boost performance far more than easy or vague goals.
8.根据段落主题句“Break down big goals into milestones.( 将宏大目标拆解为里程碑。)”可知,该段核心是将大目标拆解为小里程碑,G项“这种方法会产生里程碑式的成功,让你保持动力”,其中“This approach”指代拆解目标的做法,且与下文“It’s like running a marathon — you focus on reaching the next mile marker rather than obsessing (困扰) about the finish line from the start.(这就像跑马拉松 —— 你专注于抵达下一个里程标记,而非从一开始就为终点线忧心忡忡。)”
9.根据下文“A goal set and forgotten is just a dream. Studies suggest that simply writing down your goals — and sharing updates with a friend — can dramatically increase your chances of success, because it turns your intentions into a concrete commitment.(定下目标却抛之脑后,那只是空想。 故选A。
10.根据上文“Be flexible and adjust as needed: Long-term planning does not mean rigidly sticking to a script. Over the course of years, industries change, and you will grow and learn. It’s important to review and adjust your long-term goals periodically.

空处作谓语,根据上文“He set out to build a bridge”可知,此处描述过去发生的事情,应用一般过去时,动词found“创立、建立”用过去式founded。故填founded。
故填him。
故填an。
此处为固定短语open a window for sb. to do sth.“为某人打开一扇去做某事的窗”;空格与and后understand并列,用不定式to discover。故填to discover。

Passage 8
It was the final semester of senior high, and the atmosphere in the classroom was heavy with pressure. Emma felt like she was drowning in an ocean of endless tests and fierce competition. Ranked just outside the top ten in her class, she stuck to her dream of getting into her ideal university to study medicine. But with only four months left before the Gaokao, every day seemed like a battle against time and anxiety.
Every morning without fail, Emma dragged herself out of bed at 5:30 a.m. The dormitory was still silent as she sat at her desk, reciting English words under the weak light of her desk lamp long before the sun had risen. Buried in textbooks all day, she stayed in the classroom until the last minute before lights-outs and sacrificed every break in her effort to improve. However, despite her hard work, her math scores refused to go up. The red marks on her paper filled her with deep self- doubt and frustration.
One afternoon, after a particularly disappointing math exam where she forgot a key formula(公式), Emma could no longer hold back her tears. She ran out of the noisy classroom and hid under the old maple tree in the schoolyard. Sitting alone on the cool ground, tears blurred her eyes as she looked at the fallen leaves. “Maybe I'm just not smart enough for this,” she whispered, her voice trembling with exhaustion and despair.
Just then, her best friend Lily found her, holding two cans of iced tea. “You’ve come so far already,” Lily said gently, sitting down beside her. “Remember how you used to panic during quizzes last year? Now you face them calmly.” Emma shook her head. “But I keep making silly mistakes.” Lily smiled and patted her shoulder. “Growth isn’t a straight line. Look at this tree. It looks quiet now, but it's storing energy for spring. Your mistakes are just the proof that you are trying to grow.”

Then Lily handed Emma a mistake notebook. It was a well-organized book filled with detailed notes and highlighted formulas. “Mistakes are not failures,” Lily said gently, “but golden opportunities to improve.” Emma stared at the book, and a wave of determination washed over her. She realized that instead of drowning in sorrow, she should learn from her errors. From that day on, Emma started her own error log, analyzing her weak points with patience. She no longer feared the red marks but treated them as guides to success.
One chilly evening, Emma successfully solved a complex math problem. It was a type of question that had confused her for a long time. Excitement rose as she checked the answer again. At that moment, the heavy pressure faded away. Looking out the window, she saw the old maple tree standing firm in the wind. Just like the tree accumulating energy for spring, she knew her efforts were finally paying off. With new-found confidence, Emma believed she would embrace a bright future in the upcoming Gaokao.

A.To clarify acceptable uses of AI in coursework.
B.To prepare students for future workplace demands.
C.To ensure students develop essential human capacities.
D.To improve students’ long-term academic performance.
4.What is Burnett’s suggestion to the faculty?
