How does Max feel about this Christmas?
A. Tiring B. Busy C. Fantastic
S: Hi,Max. How was your holiday?
M:Hi,Song Lin. It was fantastic,thanks.
S: So you went back to Canada to celebrate Christmas with your family, right?
M:Yes. I hadn’t seen my family for a whole year. So it was great to see them again.
S: Good for you! So what did you do when you arrived home?
M:Well, first I helped decorate the Christmas tree and put presents under it. Then I helped my mum prepare for the family dinner on Christmas Eve.
S: How wonderful!Your mum must have been very happy. I guess it was a really big meal.
M:Oh,for sure!We cooked so much delicious food, like roast turkey, mashed potatoes, and Christmas pudding and apple pie. She even taught me how to make apple pie, which is my favourite dessert.
S: That’s amazing.I didn’t know you could cook.
M:Haha!I didn’t know either.Anyway, it was great to be with my family.During dinner,we shared stories and told jokes. We also played games with the kids afterwards. It was great fun! The best part, though, was opening our presents on Christmas morning.
S: Oh,that sounds terrific, Max. I’m really happy that you were able to enjoy Christmas with your family.Festivals are great, aren’t they?Just relax with your family and remember what’s truly important in life…
J: Did you enjoy the holiday, Song Lin?
S: Oh yes, it was great, thanks! The food, the parades, and the beautiful fireworks—
it’s always exciting for me. It’s good to spend time with my family, too, although it can get
a bit boring in my hometown after a while. How about you?
J: Well, this was my first Chinese New Year. I loved watching the traditional performances,
and I was invited to lots of delicious meals. But, to be frank, the fireworks going off
throughout the night were really annoying.
S: Oh, well, yes, I can see your point there! But it’s all part of the tradition to frighten
away the evil spirits.
J: Yes, well, there seemed to be a lot of them in my area! Anyway, except for that,
everything was fine. I’m really looking forward to the next festival.
