1. Have students look at the theme picture and answer the questions on Page 49. If the
students are at a high level, the teacher can ask an additional question: Do you have similar experiences?
2. Choose some volunteers to share their answers.
Pre-listening

1. Have students look at the pictures and describe what activities the people did. In this unit , students will learn the simple past tense. The teacher can prompt them by asking: These students had a great weekend. What did they do in each picture?
2. Have students write the activities in the box under each picture, Then,draw their attention to the simple past tense of the verbs.
3.Check the answers together. The teacher can ask one more question: Did you do any of
these activities last weekend? If not ,what did you do?
