Ask students to discuss the question: What do you know about pandas? 2. Let them share what they know about pandas from“looks”“food”“living place”and “ability”. Teaching Tip: 1. The teacher can show students a video about pandas if there is enough time.(视频见优 翼配套教学课件) 2. Have students think about the question:Do you know other special animals in China? 3. The teacher can give students some prompts such as golden snub-nosed monkeys and south China tigers. Pre-listening 1a 1. Present students the pictures of “wolf”“fox”“giraffe”“eagle”and“penguin",and then teach them these new words. 2. Have students write the animals in the box under the pictures. 3.Check the answers with the students.. While-listening 1b 1. Have students read the questions and think about the information they need to pay attention to while listening (e.g. place,reason,time). 2. Let students listen to the conversation and circle T for true or F for false. 3. Invite some pairs to perform their conversations in front of the class. Pronunciation Exercise 1 1. Have students read the words in each column and pay attention to the pronunciation of the letters or letter combinations in bold. 2. Ask students to listen and repeat after the recording. Then explain the key points of pronouncing these sounds.
