第二课时 Section A(2a-2f) 1、 Teaching Objectives In this class,students will: 1. know how to introduce an animal. 2. practise the pronunciation of unstressed words in the conversation. 3. talk about their favourite animals. 4. understand why they can't feed the animals. 2、 Teaching Advice Lead-in Review and Say · What animals do Yaming,Ella and Chen Jie see at the zoo? · What animal do they all like? Pre-listening Look and Say 1. Present the photo from 2a to students. Tell them that Peter,Fu Xing,and Teng Fei form another group. Ask them to look at the photo and answer the questions: · Where are they?What animal do they see? · Do you like penguins?Why or why not? 2.Show students a picture of Antarctica and ask:What place is this? 3. Introduce some background information to students:There are 18 kinds of penguins on earth, Seven of them live in Antarctica. While-listening 2a 1. Play the audio. Have students listen to the conversation and circle the coloured words they hear. 2.Check the answers by asking students to read the conversation together. 3. Ask students what adjectives are used to describe the penguins,and then compare the coloured words in the conversation:cute&.cool,lovely&amazing, funny&.interesting, clever&.smart.(比较见优翼配套教学课件) 4. Let students read the conversation and identify which aspects of penguins Fu Xing,Teng Fei and Peter talk about. 5. Guide students to summarize how to introduce an animal. 2b 1. Have students read the conversation and take notes. 2.Ask students to peer check the answers. Extension Exercises 1. Let students read the conversation again and answer the questions. · What can't the penguins do? · Why do the penguins often stand close together? 2. Check what else students know about penguins. · What are penguins’ bodies covered with? · Are penguins mammals? 2c 1. Let students listen to the conversation again and underline the unstressed words. 2. Ask students to pay attention to the unstressed words and role-play the conversation. 3. Invite some pairs to perform for the whole class. Post-listening 2d 1. Ask students to match the headers(1-5) in 2b with the questions(A-E). 2.Check the answers with the students. 2e 1. Have students read the card and then show them an example. 2. Ask students to complete the card about their favourite animals. 3. Invite some volunteers to share their answers. 2f 1. Have students work in pairs and use the questions in 2d to ask about their partners' favourite animals. 2. Invite some pairs of students to perform their conversations in front of the class. Further Thinking 1. In the conversation,Fu Xing wanted to feed the penguins with a sandwich. Based on her behaviour, the teacher can ask more questions about how to protect animals. · What food does Fu Xing want to give the penguins in the conversation? · Can we feed the animals with human food? Why? · What should we do when we watch the animals in the zoo or in the wild? 2. The teacher can make a summary: Don't feed the animals. Let them stay healthy and live naturally. Summary Ask students to summarize what they have learned in this lesson. Homework Finish the related exercises in the books produced by Youyi. Blackboard Design Write some key sentences and the further thinking questions on the blackboard. Teaching Reflection This lesson successfully achieved its learning objectives,as students learned to introduce animals, practised pronouncing unstressed words, and understood why feeding animals is inappropriate. Their participation in listening tasks and pair work was also active. However, more time should have been given to the 2e activity where students shared their favourite animals,since some had difficulty expressing details smoothly.
