What kind of students do you usually stay with? Do they study a lot or do they just want to play all the time?
At the age of 16, Einstein was always busy playing with a group of mischievous (顽皮捣蛋的) kids. He failed all his subjects. One morning, when Einstein was ready to go fishing with his friends, his father stopped him and said, “Einstein, you’re so interested in playing all day that you didn’t do well in all your subjects. I’m worried about your study.”
“Jack and Robert also failed, but they still go fishing.”
“My boy, you can’t think like that.” his father said. “Please listen to a fable (寓言故事) now. There were two cats playing on the top of a house. They fell down the chimney (烟囱). When they came out of the chimney, one of the cat’s face was black with soot (烟灰), while the other cat’s face was clean. Seeing the soot-faced cat, the clean cat thought its face must be dirty, so it quickly ran to the riverside and washed its face. The soot-faced cat saw the clean-faced cat and thought its face was also clean, so it just swaggered down the street.”
“Einstein, no one can be your ‘mirror’. You have to think for yourself. If you just follow others, you will never learn well.”

Having Zao Cha, or morning tea, is a typical morning activity for people in Guangdong. Whether rich or poor, young or old, locals go to morning tea houses to drink tea and enjoy dim sum (点心) for breakfast. For them, Zao Cha is not just a daily habit but also an important way of social communication.
Guangdong morning tea dates back to the Qing Dynasty. It began with a small restaurant in Guangzhou called “Yi Li Guan”, which served tea and dim sum. Over time, more and more similar tea houses appeared. Since then, Cantonese (广州的) people have developed the habit of drinking morning tea in tea houses.
Today, on weekends or holidays, the whole family or good friends often sit together for morning tea. It’s considered an enjoyable way to pass time and relax completely.
In morning tea, tea is a necessary part. The Cantonese like black tea most because it warms the stomach and helps digestion (消化). Although a little bitter and less clear than green tea, it matches perfectly with dim sum during morning tea. Oolong tea, Tieguanyin tea and pu’er tea are also popular choices.
Besides, dim sum is a must for common morning tea. Classical dim sum usually includes buns, dumplings and rice rolls in different ingredients such as beef, chicken, pork, shrimp or vegetables. They are usually small and served in 3 or 4 pieces in one plate.
The morning tea culture has become worldwide now, thanks to the increasing number of overseas Chinese. Cantonese morning tea restaurants can now be found easily in big cities like New York and even on some small islands in the South Pacific Ocean.

Have you ever heard of OpenClaw? It’s an open-source AI agent. People like to call it “Little Crayfish” because its logo is a red lobster (龙虾). This AI agent is special because users can train it to do tasks automatically (自动地) on their computers. It has become so popular that people around the world are using it.
Many cities in China are also excited about OpenClaw. They are giving away large sums of money to support projects using it. For example, on March 10, 2026, the Hefei High-tech Zone announced it would provide up to 10 million yuan in “computing vouchers” (算力券) for projects like OpenClaw. They also plan to use it in different fields like education and healthcare.
However, the excitement comes with worries. On March 10, 2026, an expert from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), Wei Liang, warned users about safety risks. He advised taking six safety steps, such as controlling the permissions (权限) of the AI and being careful when using its skill market.
The journey of OpenClaw hasn’t always been smooth. It started with the name Clawdbot in November 2025. Later, because of a trademark problem, it was changed to OpenClaw. In January 2026, as big companies like Moonshot AI started using it, the use of tokens (代币) increased greatly. But in February, a dangerous security problem (CVE-2026-25253) was found. This caused big companies like Meta and Google to stop related services. Even with these problems, the interest in OpenClaw keeps growing. For example, on March 6, Tencent held a free installation event in Shenzhen, and nearly a thousand people came. Soon after, on March 7, Shenzhen’s Longgang District announced special policies to support it, and on March 9, the Wuxi High-tech Zone followed with its own support measures.
32. Why do people call OpenClaw “Little Crayfish”?
A. Because it works like a crayfish.
B. Because it was first made in a place famous for crayfish.
C. Because its symbol is a red lobster.
D. Because it can run fast like a crayfish.
33. What kind of support did Hefei High-tech Zone provide on March 10, 2026?
A. It held a free installation event. B. It offered money in the form of computing vouchers.
C. It announced 12 new support measures. D. It built new computer centers for OpenClaw.
34. What did the MIIT expert suggest people do?
A. Stop using OpenClaw completely.
B. Use OpenClaw only in education and healthcare.
C. Be careful and take safety steps when using OpenClaw.
D. Use it without any permissions.
35. What can we learn from the passage?
A. OpenClaw has become popular without any problems.

Innovation (创新) is the key to a country’s development. As middle school students, we can also develop our innovative thinking in daily life. 36

Thirdly, learn from failures. 39 Thomas Edison failed thousands of times before he invented the practical light bulb. When you fail, don’t give up. Ask yourself what you can learn from it.
Lastly, work with others. Innovation is never a one-person job. 40 When you share your ideas with your classmates, you may get new and better ideas together.

As smartphones are widely used in our lives, more and more people, especially teenagers, find that their verbal (口头的) skills are getting worse. They find it hard to express themselves clearly when talking to others.
Many people consider the overuse of emojis (表情符号) and Internet slang (俚语) to be a main reason. For example, people often use “6” to show they are surprised, and they have trouble clearly expressing how surprised they are to others. As a result, their verbal skills are badly influenced. To change this situation, we students should use exact words more often to tell others our thoughts.
Another reason can be that we hardly ever check the words before texting or speaking. The world of digital communication (数字通信) has provided us with a free environment to communicate with others. In such an environment, we may not pay attention to the words we use. Therefore, we may fail to improve our verbal skills in the long run. We need to take digital communication seriously.
Speaking verbally is a good and commonly used way. For example, we can choose to talk to our friends or even some strangers we meet. We should remember to use exact words while we are talking. Our verbal skills will never be improved unless we take action. Talk in a more formal way from now on. It’s also important to reduce the overuse of emojis and Internet slang. I hope that you can find my suggestions useful in improving your verbal skills.
