A
By my mid-20s, I'd finished my master in psychology, and I was working in Dublin as a health researcher. It was mostly data and statistics work staring at a screen.I was earning more than most of my friends, living the city life, going out at weekends.I had a good pension (养老金) and annual leave but it caused a lot of anxiety and worry.I was really unhappy.
I wanted to get back to feeling passionate about something, so I started thinking about the things I used to love.As a child, I had always been involved in the outdoors, and I used to love hiking but all that had stopped after secondary school.I decided to volunteer with a local youth group and within a month, I had gone camping with them.I absolutely loved it.It_was_like_switching_on_a_lightbulb. This was what I'd been missing.
I started taking courses in mountain skills and wilderness first aid, and by August I was working my usual job in the week, and I was a climbing club leader at weekends.I loved connecting with nature, connecting with other people.
Through all this, I learnt about the whole field of nature-based therapies (疗法).It was the perfect fit to combine my psychology background with my passion for the outdoors.I began taking courses in wild therapy, forest bathing and ecopsychology.I left my government job and in July 2020 I launched my business Nature Therapy Ireland, which is booming now.
I had thought I'd always live in a city but last year, I moved to Tipperary to live at the foot of a mountain, surrounded by nature. If I'm feeling stressed, I can step outside in my bare feet and stand on the grass to ground myself. In Dublin, the front door felt like a barrier — I had to have my keys, my phone, my jacket before I could even go out and find a green space. My life now is leading nature connection hikes and forest bathing walks. My salary has halved for the moment but I've adjusted.I've never looked back.

All the efforts you put into studying at university may not have been enough — because robots could be coming for your job.A new study finds that as many as 800 million workers could be replaced by robots by 2030.
The study from the McKinsey Global Institute estimates that between 400 million and 800 million individuals could be replaced by automation (自动化) or robots and need to find new jobs by 2030 around the world. It estimates that 30 percent of the hours people spend on working globally could have been automated by that time.
Those most affected will be people who work in “predictable environments” doing tasks such as operating machines and preparing fast food. Those who make a living by collecting and processing data also face a high risk of being replaced by robots. But people who work in less predictable environments such as gardeners, plumbers, and childcare staff face a smaller risk, because their roles are technically difficult to be automated and often command relatively lower wages, which makes automation a less attractive business proposition (商业提议).
However, it's not all doom (厄运) for the future of employment. The study notes that automation sometimes allows workers to remain employed in a different position.“Even when some tasks are automated, the employment rate in those occupations may not decline because workers may perform new tasks,” McKinsey & Company wrote in a release on its website.
It noted that China has the largest number of employees who would need to switch occupations, up to 100 million if automation is adopted rapidly, or 12 percent of the 2030 workforce. The numbers are higher in more advanced economies, with up to one-third of the 2030 workforce in America and Germany needing to switch occupations, along with nearly half of the 2030 workforce in Japan.Countries which fail to prepare workers for transition to new jobs will feel the impact of a rise in unemployment and depressed wages, according to the study.

You have everything you think you need for your dream job, but could something else be holding you back? You possess hard skills for the job, but you may lack soft skills.
Hard skills are things that are measurable and technical.A master's degree in business is a hard skill. The ability to speak Spanish is a hard skill. Many specific qualifications for a job are hard skills, such as years of work experience or proficiency (精通) with particular computer programs.
On the other hand, soft skills are harder to define. And they can't be defined. And they can't be measured.Soft skills cover a wide range of characteristics that you can work on for a lifetime but some of the most common — and most necessary for success — include being a good listener and speaker, a wise leader, a problem solver, a strong communicator or a team player. It's also helpful if you can accept feedback, settle conflicts with others, deal with difficult people or be flexible. These soft skills are what many employers desire.
Soft skills benefit you in many ways.Being a good listener, for example, is very helpful if you're a doctor.Being flexible, a team player and a problem solver help you succeed when dealing with deadlines.
Soft skills are something extra that help a particular person to succeed.Being able to show you possess them could make a difference in landing a job you'll love, or being more successful in the job you already have. They make the difference between someone who is just OK at their job and someone who is outstanding, the person you always want on your team.In general, soft skills make you more likable and more competent.
Soft skills are what can set people apart from each other on resumes or in job interviews, but soft skills don't come naturally.
