Step 1: Warm-up & Lead-in

情境 1:A poor friend asks you for help, but you only have 1000 dollars. Will you give it to him? Why?(嵌入 give away, help, poor 等词汇)
情境 2:Your relative leaves you money in his will, but asks you to do a kind thing first. What will you do?(嵌入 will, relative, kind thing 等词汇)
学生自由发言后,教师板书核心词汇(will, lawyer, packet, give away, carelessly, secret),结合情境讲解含义,带读 2 遍;用角色卡片强化身份认知(Lawyer-Tolman, Beneficiary-Gillian, Recipient-Miss Hayden)。
2.教师提问:What do you think is more valuable than money? Kindness or trust? 引导学生用简单英文分享,激活对 “善意与信任” 主题的情感共鸣,自然引出:Today we’ll read a play about 1000 dollars and a test of kindness. Let’s find out what happened to Gillian.

Step 2: While-reading

组 1(Scene 1):Tolman (lawyer) said: “Your uncle left you 1000 dollars in his ______ (will). You must tell me how you use it.”

1.教师用简单英文 + 图片讲解西方遗嘱文化:A will is a legal document that says how a person’s money and property are given away after death. Sometimes people use wills to test their relatives’ kindness, like Gillian’s uncle. 引导学生理解:The play shows that kindness is more important than money in Western culture too.
2.教师提出辩证问题:Is it always wise to give away money to others?
How can we make sure our kindness is not misused? 引导学生小组讨论,教师提供表达支架:
I think kindness is valuable, but we should ______ (know the person well before helping).
We can give away money wisely by ______ (helping those who really need it).
