We have learnt about some of Millie’s new friends. Do you remember the profile? Can you introduce one of them? Possible answer Simon is tall. He is always full of energy. He is good at sport. He often plays football after school. Step 2 Presentation Activity1 Have students read Millie’s introductions on page 14 and circle the correct words in the table. Answer Kitty: long hair; lovely eyes; pretty; shy; quiet Amy: short hair; small; cute; happy; swimming Activity2 Have students introduce Amy/Kitty with sentences. Possible answer Amy has long hair. Her eyes are lovely. She is pretty, shy and quiet. Kitty has short hair. She is small, cute and happy. She enjoys/likes/loves swimming. Activity3 According to Millie’s introductions, have students answer the following questions. (1) Do you want to make friends with Kitty and Amy? Why or why not? (2) What else may Millie talk about them with her Mum? Possible answer Yes, I do. Kitty and I have the same hobby. We can talk a lot about different kinds of music and our favourite singers. Amy is always happy, and I like being around happy people. age, favourite subjects/food/colours, abilities, dreams, … Step 3 Practice Task1 Listening Have students predict the answers to B on page 14 and answer the following questions. (1)How can we predict answers before reading? (2)What should we pay attention to when listening. Possible answer (1)common sense/context/known information (2)Key words 2 Have students listen to the conversation and finish B on page 14, and check if the tips work in listening. Possible answer (1) eleven/11 (2) dancing (3) music (4) twelve/12 (5) fast (6) meeting 3 Have students think about the difference between talking to their Mum and talking to teachers. Possible answer It is informal and casual to talk to Mum. It is formal and polite to talk to teachers. We should be very polite. Task2 Speaking 1. Have students read the conversation along with the recording and answer the following questions. (1) Who does Millie introduce first, Simon or Ms Lin? Why? (2)Who does Simon say goodbye to first, Millie or Ms Lin? Why? Answer Simon. Because we should introduce the younger to the elder first when we introduce two people to each other. Ms Lin. Because she is the teacher/elder. When we leave, we usually say goodbye to the elder first. 2.Have students read in different roles and discuss the following questions. (1) What are they talking about? How can we call something a hobby? (2) What is Simon’s character? How do you know that? (3) Do you want to make friends with Ms. Lin? Why? Possible answer (1) They are talking about Simon’s hobby. If something is a hobby, we should like it, value it and often do it. It should make us better. (2) He is polite because he greets Millie and Ms Lin first. He is energetic/full of energy because he can both study and be good at sport. He is patient(耐心的) because he talks much about his hobby though(虽然)he is busy. (3) Yes. Because she is friendly, careful and considerate. She is kind because she is friendly to Simon and greets him. She is careful(细心的) because she remembers Simon’s hobby. She is considerate(体贴的) she praises(赞扬) and supports(支持) Simon’s hobby. 3. Have students work in groups of three to greet and introduce each other. Possible answer Student A: Hi/Hello/Good morning, … Student B: Hi/Hello/Good morning, ...
