1 Have students answer the following questions.
We have learnt about some of Millie’s new friends.
Do you remember the profile?
Can you introduce one of them?

Simon is tall. He is always full of energy. He is good at sport. He often plays football after school.
Step 2 Presentation
Activity1
Have students read Millie’s introductions on page 14 and circle the correct words in the table.
Answer
Kitty: long hair; lovely eyes; pretty; shy; quiet
Amy: short hair; small; cute; happy; swimming
Activity2
Have students introduce Amy/Kitty with sentences.
Possible answer
Amy has long hair. Her eyes are lovely. She is pretty, shy and quiet.

According to Millie’s introductions, have students answer the following questions.
(1) Do you want to make friends with Kitty and Amy? Why or why not?

1. Have students read the conversation along with the recording and answer the following questions.
(1) Who does Millie introduce first, Simon or Ms Lin? Why?

Answer
Simon. Because we should introduce the younger to the elder first when we introduce two people to each other.
Ms Lin. Because she is the teacher/elder. When we leave, we usually say goodbye to the elder first.
2.Have students read in different roles and discuss the following questions.
(1) What are they talking about? How can we call something a hobby?
(2) What is Simon’s character? How do you know that?
(3) Do you want to make friends with Ms. Lin? Why?

(1) They are talking about Simon’s hobby. If something is a hobby, we should like it, value it and often do it. It should make us better.
(2) He is polite because he greets Millie and Ms Lin first.
He is energetic/full of energy because he can both study and be good at sport.

(3) Yes. Because she is friendly, careful and considerate.
