Family rules are important. They help your children to know what is and isn’t OK in the family. But how can you make good family rules for your children?

First, you need to tell your children what to do, not what not to do. For example, “Go to bed before 9:30 p.m.!” is good. “Don’t go to bed late!” isn’t.
Second, rules need to be clear (清晰的) for children to follow. For example, “Eat an egg every morning!” is good. “It’s important to eat well!” isn’t.
Also, it’s good for you to write down the rules to help children remember them. For little children, you can draw pictures to help them understand the rules.

(24-25七年级下·辽宁鞍山·期中)
Fights at school sometimes happen. But how can you keep away from a fight? Here’s something you can do.
Be calm. Sometimes, you feel so angry that you really want to teach somebody a lesson. But being angry can’t solve (解决) problems. Neither can a fight. Instead, it may bring you more problems. In the school, everyone involved (卷入) in a fight will be punished, no matter who started it. There are no winners in a fight.
Shout loudly. If you know someone is coming up behind you to attack (攻击), turn toward the person with your hands up in front of your body and loudly say “stop”, before walking away. If the person doesn’t stop, cry for help by calling out the name of a teacher whose office is nearby.
▲ Your friend may ask you to join in a fight. Learn to refuse. Helping him fight is not really helpful to him. If you really want to give him a hand, try to ask him to give it up. Also, you can tell him if he gets involved in a fight, he may get hurt and be punished. Then, try to learn why he wants a fight and help him find a right way to deal with the problem.
If you follow my advice seriously, you may avoid being involved in a fight at school.
1.Which of the following sentences can be put in the ▲ ?

【导语】本文主要讲述了如何避免在学校发生打架事件。
1.推理判断题。根据“Your friend may ask you to join in a fight. Learn to refuse.”可知,当朋友邀请你参与打架时,要学会拒绝。因此,填入空缺处的句子应与“拒绝”相关。B项“学会说不”最符合语境。故选B。
2.细节理解题。根据“In the school, everyone involved in a fight will be punished, no matter who started it. There are no winners in a fight.”可知,参与打架的学生都会受到惩罚,且打架无法解决问题。故选C。

Yesterday was Labor Day in the United States. Labor Day is a national holiday that shows respect to workers. “Labor” is another word for work, especially hard work.
In 1882, members of the New York Central Labor Union thought it was a good idea to have a day celebrating workers. Passage 3
(24-25七年级下·辽宁沈阳·期中)
All around the world, buildings are going green! People are making green buildings. What does it mean to go green or to make a green building? A green building is designed (设计) in a way that is not harmful to the environment. The building uses energy, water, and other materials in ways that are good for the environment.
When planning green buildings, architects (建筑师) must think about how to use energy, water, and materials in an environment-friendly way. There are many ways to save energy. Architects can design buildings to use natural light. Buildings can also be made with solar or wind power to get energy from the sun or the wind. To save water, green buildings can have areas on the roofs to collect rainwater. Kitchens and bathrooms can have sinks (洗池) and toilets (马桶) that conserve water. As for the materials used to build the building, it is important to use materials that do not have chemicals that are harmful to the air or water. Recycled materials can also be used for buildings.
Buildings around the world use all three of these ways to go green. An office building called CH2 in Melbourne, Australia, uses wind and solar power. A cultural center in London, England, is made from recycled train cars and is powered by solar and wind power. The Academy of Sciences building in California in the U. S. has recycled materials, solar energy, and a huge “living roof” of plants. A temple in Thailand is made out of one million recycled glass bottles! Passage 1
(24-25七年级下·辽宁沈阳·期中)
What will the world of tomorrow be like? Many people today believe that technology is going to help solve some problems we have today. New technology may solve old problems, and it may also create new ones. No technology is perfect. Each has advantages and disadvantages. Here are three examples.
When we dream about the future, many of us think that we will be able to fly to the sky in our own flying cars. We could fly at 480 km per hour, avoiding traffic lights and busy roads. However, if too many flying cars are in the air, there will be trouble with traffic control.
3D printing is another new technology for the future. 3D printers are already used to make life-size models of car parts (部件), and man-made body parts, like ears. As we move into the future, 3D printing will change the way we make things and the way we treat sick people. The disadvantage is that such a machine is very expensive.
Finally, people are trying to make a robot suit (套装). This is an electronic suit. It allows people to lift heavy things and walk a long way. It might help people walk again after an illness or an accident. However, one disadvantage at the moment is the cost.
It is easy to imagine a future. We will be able to fly to work, print out a new pair of shoes or lift a car above our heads. Although there are some problems to solve, we can certainly dream of a world. In this world, technology makes people’s lives easier and safer, and it can solve some of the most difficult problems we have today.

When a tree is 20 to 25 years old, it becomes a real adult. The tree reaches its largest size. Not only does the adult tree give us shade (树荫), oxygen and natural beauty, it is also a great place for a tree house, or a place for us to read a book. If the adult tree can have a good care, it will go on to live healthily for many years.
Little by little, trees begin to grow older and older and even die. At this time, they still have their important place in nature. When a tree becomes hollow (空心的) or part of it becomes dead, it becomes a home to small animals and a source (来源) of food for many other animals.

To-wit-to-woo, to-wit-to-woo! What’s that strange sound coming from the forest at night? It’s an owl (猫头鹰), of course! The owl is different from all other birds in so many ways.
The owl’s hearing and eyesight are better than most animals. All day long, the owl rests on the tree and sleeps. It hunts (捕猎) only at night. When evening comes, the animals all get to a safe place. The owl opens its big, round eyes to look around. Any little animals around had better be careful. The owl eats small animals like mice as food, but it wouldn’t say no to another bird, if it’s really hungry.
The owl uses its great hearing to find its food, and then it turns its head from side to side, using its sharp (敏锐的) eyes to fly after the animal. Finally, it flies down to get the animal. Owls have special, soft feathers (羽毛), so they can fly without making any sound. Owls are good hunters and they can even catch a fly in the air!
The owl is usually quiet, except (除了) when you get too close to its home. The mother owl is a great mother. She will protect her babies by opening her feathers angrily. She will even hurt people if she thinks her babies are in danger!

Second, rules need to be clear (清晰的) for children to follow. For example, “Eat an egg every morning!” is good. “It’s important to eat well!” isn’t.
Also, it’s good for you to write down the rules to help children remember them. For little children, you can draw pictures to help them understand the rules.

Passage 2

This is a good use of recycled material, and it also lets natural light into the temple. More and more green buildings are being built and they are making the world a better place!

Trees are one of the oldest plants of our Earth. They keep the air clean, make less noise pollution, make water cleaner and provide food and building materials.
Just like us, trees change a lot as they grow. At one to three years old, young trees learn how to protect themselves. For example, many trees grow thorns to stop animals from going near.
At the age of four, trees begin to grow very quickly and become strong enough to face many difficulties later in life. At the age of 15, trees become young adults. They grow more slowly and begin to produce flowers and fruit.
In many ways, the life of a tree is similar to our own life experience. When looking at the life of a tree, we learn that each period (时期) of life brings its own kind of happiness and difficulties. Enjoy every minute of the life of trees and take care of them.

Passage 2
(24-25七年级下·辽宁葫芦岛·期中)
Do you have rules at home? Do people have the same ideas about family rules? Now let’s have a look!
Some parents say rules help children become polite or focus on schoolwork. For example, “You have to finish homework before using mobile phones,” or “Make your bed every morning.” Dr. Lee, a teacher, says, “Rules like ‘no littering’ teach kids to respect their home.” Many parents also ask kids to do chores, like feeding pets or turning off lights. They believe rules bring order to family life.
However, not all kids have the same views (看法) as parents. Some kids think rules are boring or terrible.
