Through his art, Muniz makes people think differently about their everyday lives-even their own rubbish. In 2007, Muniz worked on a two-year project at one of the world’s largest landfills. Until its closure in 2012, Jardim Gramacho received about 70 percent of the rubbish from Rio de Janeiro. About 3,000 rubbish pickers, known as catadores, worked there. Their job was to hunt through the rubbish for recyclable cans, bottles, and other materials. They then made money by selling the objects to recycling companies. The catadores’ work was dirty and dangerous, and most of them only received between $20 and $25 a day. Despite the hard conditions, many catadores were proud of their work. Valter Dos Santos, a worker at Jardim Gramacho for more than 25 years, told Muniz, “I am proud to be a picker. I try to explain to people that recycling prevents great harm to nature and the environment. People sometimes say, ‘But one single soda can?’ One single can is of great importance! That single can will make the difference.” Muniz became friends with Dos Santos and other catadores. They allowed him to take their photographs at the landfill, where they posed for artistic portraits. For example, Muniz photographed a landfill worker in the style of a famous French painting. The workers then helped Muniz create huge images of these photos on the floor of his workshop. They used materials from the landfill to add color and depth to the images. ________ Muniz says he wanted to “change the lives of people with the same materials they deal with every day.” A photograph of his recreation of the French painting sold for £28,000 ($50,000) at a London art auction. Muniz gave the money to the catadores workers’ organization. In 2010, a movie called Waste Land was made about Muniz’s project. The film received many awards and helped make people aware of the rubbish collectors’ lives. The catadores also began to see themselves differently. “Sometimes we see ourselves as so small,” says Irma, a cook at Gramacho, “but people out there see us as so big, so beautiful.” 1.Why did the writer mention Valter Dos Santos? A.To tell the story of a catador’s life. B.To describe the catadores’ hard conditions. C.To show the value of a catador’s work. D.To give an example of successful catadores. 2.What can we learn about Muniz’s photographs? A.They were all taken at the landfill. B.He spent a long time on each of them. C.They were only part of his unusual creation. D.He took them in the style of famous paintings. 3.Which of the following is the most suitable for ________? A.Why take such photos of these catadores? B.Why create such huge images using rubbish? C.How to help these people in a creative way? D.How to turn everyday objects into art pieces? 4.Which of the following shows the right order of the things that happened? a. A movie was made about Muniz’s project. b. Gramacho stopped receiving rubbish. c. Dos Santos started working at Gramacho. d. Muniz made friends with some catadores. A.d-c-b-a. B.c-d-b-a. C.d-c-a-b. D.c-d-a-b. 中考模拟真题练习 We’ve all heard the terms “early bird” and “night owl (猫头鹰)”. For years, people divided others by sleep habits: early birds sleep and wake early, feeling most energetic in the morning; night owls, however, stay up late, are more awake at night, and like to sleep longer in the morning. But recently, sleep researcher Dr. Michael Breus came up with a more exact way to group people—this way is based on “sleep chronotypes (时间类型)”. According to Dr. Breus, every person is divided into one of four sleep chronotypes: lion, bear, wolf, or dolphin. Each group is a little like the sleeping habits of the animal it is named after, and has its own special features. Lions are the earliest. They’re ready for bed around 9 p.m. and wake naturally by 5 a.m., doing their best work before noon. Confident and leader-like, they often exercise early. But don’t ask a lion to do too much after noon—their energy usually goes down later in the day. Bears sleep and wake up a little later than lions. Studies show that most humans are in the bear group because they usually sleep from around 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. and work best between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. ▲ This explains why the classic nine-to-five workday suits them so well. Wolves are the true night owls. They don’t like waking up before 8 a.m. and their brains work best in the afternoon. They often have trouble getting to work on time for the usual 9 a.m. start. But if they are given tasks at the right time of day, they can get a lot done. With a free timetable, wolves can do a lot to help. Dolphins’ sleep time is often not fixed. One reason is that they easily feel worried and keep thinking about things. So it’s important for dolphins to have a fixed time before bed to help their body and mind relax, so they can get ready for sleep. It’s interesting to note that dolphins are very creative and good at solving problems. Knowing which group you are in helps you find out when you are most likely to feel energetic and get things done. If you plan your work and free time according to your natural sleep pattern, you can work well and sleep better. 1.Why are “early bird” and “night owl” mentioned at the beginning? A.To list two popular sleep habits. B.To start the topic of a new finding. C.To explain two animal habits. D.To give the result of a sleep study. 2.Which of the following is the most suitable for ▲ ? A.Their sleep pattern is the most popular in society. B.They sometimes feel tired during long meetings. C.For this reason, they seldom need an alarm clock. D.Surprisingly, many artists are members of this group. 3.If someone feels most creative in the afternoon but often arrives late for a 9 a.m. meeting, they are most likely a ________. A.lion B.bear C.wolf D.dolphin 4.What is the main idea of the last paragraph? A.Introduce a new research finding. B.Give suggestions on using the finding. C.Describe a common old understanding. D.Provide more information on the finding. Plains wanderers are small, rare birds that live in grasslands. Unlike most birds, female plains wanderers are larger and stronger than males. Females take the lead in protecting their nests and babies from animals like foxes, while males often sit on the eggs to keep them warm. These birds are hard to find because their feathers blend into the grass, making them look like part of the landscape. Sadly, their numbers have been dropping because people are taking over their grassland homes for farms and cities. To save them, scientists are using AI. The key is the birds’ calls. Mother wanderers make soft sounds to talk to their chicks and warn about danger. These calls are quiet and easy to miss, but AI can hear them clearly. Scientists put microphones in the grasslands to record sounds all day and night. Then they put these recordings into a computer program. The AI learns to tell the wanderers’ calls apart from other noises, like the wind blowing or insects chirping. This helps scientists find where the mother birds are and how many chicks they have. “AI helps us monitor these birds without bothering them,” says Dr. Lee, who leads the project.“We can find the most important areas for them and work to protect those places.” Once, the AI helped scientists find a hidden nest with three baby birds. Without AI, they might not have found it. Thanks to this technology, there is new hope for these rare birds, showing that AI can be a powerful tool in saving wildlife. 1.What is Dr. Lee’s attitude towards the AI technology? A.Supportive. B.Interested. C.Doubtful. D.Negative. 2.How do scientists use AI to find plains wanderers? A.By taking photos of their nests. B.By tracking their flying paths. C.By counting eggs in the grass. D.By analyzing calls from mother birds. 3.What is the passage mainly about? A.Why plains wanderers are rare. B.How scientists use AI to protect plains wanderers. C.What AI can do in daily life. D.How mother wanderers protect their chicks. If you have trouble describing people, don’t worry! We’ll use popular film characters to help you learn some useful words. NaiveMeaning: If someone is naive, they have little experience and believe good things will always happen. Example: In the film Elf, Buddy is a naive person who grows up with elves (精灵). One day, he goes to New York City but finds things very different there. Director: David Berenbaum LoyalMeaning: If you’re loyal, you always give support (支持) to a person or a group and help them and act honestly. Example: In the film Toy Story, Woody is loyal to his friends and owner, Andy. He stays with Andy, even when Andy grows up and goes to college. Director: John Lasseter DemandingMeaning: If someone is demanding, they are not easily satisfied or pleased. Example: In the film The Devil Wears Prada, Miranda is very demanding. She always works very hard and expects others to do the same. Director: David Frankel TalentedMeaning: If you’re talented, you have a natural ability to do something well. Example: In the film McFarland, USA, coach Mr. White notices some talented runners in his PE class. He forms a cross-country group that plays against other schools. Director: Niki Caro 1.Which word is used to describe a person with a natural ability to do something well? A.Naive. B.Loyal. C.Talented. D.Demanding. 2.Who always gives support to friends according to the films? A.Niki Caro. B.Woody. C.David Frankel. D.Buddy. 3.In which part of a magazine can we read the text? A.Travel. B.Language. C.Sport. D.Environment. There is something all around you, but you can’t see it. You can’t stay alive without breathing it in. What is it? It’s air! Air is a mixture of gases. It’s something we can’t see, but it’s made up of very tiny molecules. These molecules are spread out and keep moving all the time. Air molecules move differently as the temperature changes. When air gets warmer, the molecules become more active and move farther apart. Warmer air takes up more space because the molecules move farther apart. However, when air gets cooler, the molecules move more slowly and come closer together. Cooler air occupies less space because the molecules move closer together. Here is an experiment (实验) that shows this. First, take a balloon and stretch (拉伸) it over the mouth of an empty bottle. Next, put it in hot water. Does the balloon swell (膨胀) up? Now, move it into cold water. You will see the balloon get smaller. When the air molecules heat up, they become more spread out. This makes the air inside the bottle swell. It moves out of the bottle and fills up the balloon. However, when the molecules get colder, they move closer together. So, the air goes back into the bottle. 1.Which part of a magazine can we read such a text? A.Science Corner B.School Life C.Story Time D.Cultural Tradition 2.Which is the correct order of the experiment according to the passage? A.a→b→c B.a→c→b C.c→b→a D.c→a→b 3.After reading the passage, we can learn that ________. A.Air molecules will stop moving when the temperature is very low. B.The size of air molecules stays the same when the temperature changes. C.The movement of air molecules has something to do with temperature. D.Cold air makes the balloon get bigger while hot air makes it become smaller. The average person eats about 40 kg of meat per year. In developed countries, it’s double that—about the same weight as an adult dolphin. But experts now advise cutting down the amount of meat we eat to help slow down the warming of the Earth. So, here’s a thought experiment: what if the whole world turned vegan (eating no animal products at all)? Around 15% of all greenhouse gases produced by humans come from raising farm animals. If we all become vegan, these gases will be slashed. Eating meat takes up space—a lot of it. Around 80% of all farmland is used for producing meat and milk products. This area is almost as large as Europe, the United States, China, and Australia put together. Meat and milk usually give us only 18% of the energy we need, but they cause 60% of the harmful gases from farming. A report by the UN’s climate body, the IPCC, recommends we all reduce the amount of meat we eat, and also how much we waste. The report has found that 8%—10% of the world’s harmful gases come from lost or wasted food. ▲ Large-scale (大规模) farming of cows causes especially serious harm and has been a big factor in the loss of the Amazon Rainforest. When cows digest (消化) their food, they produce methane (CH4)—a powerful greenhouse gas that is about 28 times more powerful than carbon dioxide (CO2) over 100 years. One cow lets out between 70 and 100 kg of methane every year, and there are around 1.5 billion cows in the world today. But small-scale farming of animals can have a lower environmental footprint, and sometimes—as with traditional grazing (放牧)—can even help wildlife and plants live together. Vegan alternatives (替代) also come with their own problems. For example, large-scale bean production can cause forests to be cut down, and almond (杏仁) production requires huge amounts of water. If everyone changed to a plant-based diet, it could bring important health benefits. One study guessed that if everyone ate a vegan diet—rich in fresh fruit and vegetables—around eight million deaths could be avoided worldwide by 2050. There are no simple answers. If everyone changes how they view food, produce it, and eat it in a green way, we might change the world. 1.What does “be slashed” in Paragraph 1 most probably mean? A.Double. B.Remain. C.Reduce greatly. D.Increase slightly. 2.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage? A.Raising cows especially harms the Earth. B.A vegan world would end food waste. C.Small farms are more harmful to the Earth. D.Bean production needs plenty of water. 3.Which of the following is the most suitable for ▲ ? A.Raising sheep also harms the Earth. B.Many countries begin raising fewer cows. C.People must stop eating beef at once. D.Not all farming influences the Earth equally. 4.This passage is mainly about ________. A.why cows mainly cause the warming of the Earth B.why we should stop eating meat to protect the Earth C.how eating meat harms the Earth and what we can do D.what the advantages of eating fruits and vegetables are Have you ever really loved a TV show? I mean the kind you think about all day and can’t wait to discuss with your friends. Especially when an episode (集) ends with an unsolved situation that makes you really want to know what happens next—but when will the next episode be? This wanting often leads to binge-watching (追剧). Thanks to developments in internet speed and technology, streaming (流媒体) services now allow us to watch the whole seasons of our favorite shows whenever we want. This has made binge-watching very common among young people. However, recent research from British media watchdog Ofcom has found that out of the more than half of British adults who watch more than one episode of a show back-to-back, almost a third have admitted (承认) missing sleep or becoming tired as a result; and one quarter have put off their homework. Next we’ll be missing work! Teachers are now worried that students might fail to complete homework for the same reason. ▲ All of these are often connected to a shortage of self-control and may develop into bad habits. Many people find binge-watching difficult to stop once they start. Some students report that it has made them unable to focus on studying. This raises an important question: could binge-watching become a new form of addiction (瘾)? The plenty of information and entertainment that television and online media can bring us is, many would say, a good thing. However, like any activity, when we go too far, it can be dangerous. It becomes especially worrying when it begins to influence our sleep, schoolwork, or personal relationships. So what’s the solution? Moderation! Learning to manage our screen time wisely requires us to set clear rules—for example, by deciding on a viewing timetable beforehand—while also exploring other relaxing activities, such as reading, sports, or socializing with friends. Remember the old saying: “A little of what you enjoy does you good.” 1.What can we learn about binge-watching? A.It encourages students to finish their homework on time. B.It is becoming less common because of new technology. C.It may lead to sleep loss and less time for important tasks. D.It helps build closer friendship through shared TV interest. 2.Why did the writer mention Ofcom’s research in paragraph 3? A.To prove that binge-watching can be harmful. B.To show how popular binge-watching is among adults. C.To introduce the main contents of TV shows in Britain. D.To explain why streaming services have become so popular. 3.Which of the following is the most suitable for ▲ ? A.Why should people stop binge-watching? B.What are the main reasons for binge-watching? C.Binge-watching stops us better understanding the world. D.Binge-watching is similar to harmful habits like binge-eating. 4.What’s the passage mainly about? A.Binge-watching is popular but should be controlled wisely. B.Streaming services bring enjoyment as well as self-control problems. C.Binge-watching has become an addiction that influences our daily lives. D.People should manage their screen time and find other relaxing activities instead. Listening to music, watching movies, reading novels... Which kind of art is your go-to choice for fun? According to a new study, art not only calms your mind but also improves your physical health. For the first time, scientists in the UK found that art helps the immune (免疫的), endocrine (内分泌的) and nervous systems all at once, said The Guardian. The study included 50 healthy volunteers aged 18 to 40. Half of them went to see real artworks at the Courtauld Gallery in London, while the other half looked at copies of the same paintings in a non-gallery setting. All of them wore health sensors throughout the experiment. The result showed a 22 percent drop in stress hormones (激素) for the gallery-goers and an 8 percent drop for the other group, according to Art Fund. Signs of inflammation (炎症) also went down by about 30 percent for the gallery group. It’s not just visual art that has such effects. For example, a 2021 Swiss study said that dance reduces stress by improving movement control. What makes art so powerful? Scientists have different ideas. One, developed by Edward Vessel at the City College of New York, looks to our brain’s default mode network (默认模式网络). This network is thought to play a key role in creativity—it usually stays quiet when we pay attention to things around us. But when we enjoy art, this network becomes active. Although we are still learning how this works, ________. According to American Scientist, art therapy was first developed to help traumatized (心理受创的) World War II soldiers express their feelings. Those painful experiences often hurt the parts of their brains that control speech, so traditional talking therapy didn’t work well. Since then, art therapy has helped over 650 million people around the world. Marygrace Berberian, a professor at New York University, said in the university’s news in September that number-based studies, like the new UK study, can help more people get art therapy. 1.What does the result of the UK study show? A.Young people benefit more from viewing art. B.Looking at art copies is of little benefit to health. C.Painting is the most helpful art for lowering stress. D.Stress went down more for the gallery-goers group. 2.What does Edward Vessel’s theory suggest about art? A.It makes people’s memory become better. B.It makes the brain’s special network active. C.It makes the brain’s usual activity weaker. D.It makes people careless about the outside. 3.Which of the following is the most suitable for ________? A.art’s power has long been used in treatment B.art’s power is still doubted by scientists C.art’s power has been fully understood by scientists D.art’s power hasn’t been used in treatment till now 4.How does the writer develop the passage? A.By describing research steps. B.By offering interesting ideas. C.By using many examples. D.By listing different art forms It’s fun to visit the monkeys at the zoo, watching them play and climb. Sometimes when they sit and look at us, we laugh at how cute they are and talk about how much they seem like us. But in some countries, monkeys live in cities around people. It might sound fun to have monkeys in the town, but in some cases it isn’t pleasant at all. Monkey business In New Delhi, India, thousands of small rhesus monkeys (猕猴) live in the city. They steal food from shopkeepers and break into people’s houses and leave a mess. Sometimes they even bite (咬) people. It’s a big problem. New Delhi used to have forests around it where monkeys had plenty of space to live in the wild. But more and more people are moving to the city. Every year the city grows and more of the forest is cut down. In fact, in many cases, the city is approaching (接近) the monkeys. Monkeys are smart animals who can adjust to new conditions. And now monkeys are learning to live in their new homes. Monkey, go! The city has tried many ways to keep monkeys away. One way is to pay workers to catch monkeys and take them to wild areas far from the city. To keep the monkeys from returning for food, trucks bring food out to them. More recently, the city has trained larger monkeys to scare away smaller rhesus monkeys. But it doesn’t work. They will come back in a short time. Whose home? The problem of monkeys living too close to humans won’t be easily solved. Most people like monkeys and don’t want to hurt them—but they don’t want monkeys in their homes either, and they don’t like to be afraid of groups of monkeys. In fact, those monkeys feel exactly the same way about us. But one thing is clear—if we don’t find some ways to protect the homes of wild animals, they may end up in ours. 1.What does the underlined phrase “adjust to” in paragraph 4 mean? A.Get close to. B.Get used to. C.Pay attention to. D.Make a difference to. 2.What can we know about rhesus monkeys from the passage? A.They are not afraid of larger monkeys. B.They are often poorly treated by people. C.They are curious about the life in the city. D.They don’t have enough food and living space. 3.The following sentence can be best put at the end of ________. But the wild areas aren’t large enough for all the monkeys anymore. A.Paragraph 4 B.Paragraph 5 C.Paragraph 6 D.Paragraph 7 4.What’s the writing purpose of this passage? A.To remind people to protect the forest for animals. B.To introduce rhesus monkeys in India to people. C.To call on people to help monkeys in the city. D.To ask people to guard against rhesus monkeys. After an amazing 70 years of printing, this year marks the final edition of our company’s catalog (产品目录). But that’s not to say it’s yesterday’s news. Here are some of our favorite ways to use it around the home (and out of it): With its perfect size and weight, why not use your old catalog as a smart and modern door stop? Have you ever experienced hui nan tian, or lasting humid weather? Hui nan tian is a special weather condition in southern China. It normally appears in spring when the temperature begins to rise and the humidity quickly increases. Before it arrives, there are usually a few cold days, with a temperature below 12℃. As the cold air goes away, warmer air quickly comes and the temperature rises, creating a lot of water vapour (水蒸气). Small water drops can be seen on windows and walls. For example, if the temperature is below 12℃ from March 7th to 9th but suddenly rises on March 10th, hui nan tian will appear on March 10th. During hui nan tian, the humid weather makes it easy for bacteria (细菌) to grow. Food goes bad easily, clothes stay wet and sofas can get moldy. Things like televisions may break down when they get wet inside, which can be dangerous for people to turn them on. It can also make people feel tired and sick. Catching a cold is very common during this time, as the temperature changes quickly. Although the weather troubles people a lot, for nature, it can be helpful. Thanks to the humid weather, plants can grow better with enough water and warmer air. To cut down on the trouble caused by the lasting humid weather, scientists suggest that people in the south should close their windows in the morning and evening. At the same time, they should use an air conditioner to take away water from the air. It’s also useful to put newspapers on the floor, on the tables and at the door to take in water and wet air. 1.In which of the following conditions is hui nan tian most likely to appear on March 10th? A. B. C. D. 2.It’s dangerous to turn on TV during hui nan tian because ________. A.people may use too much power B.parts of it might go wrong C.the TV picture could get very poor D.it must be unsafe to touch its surface 3.What’s the writer’s purpose in saying “it (hui nan tian) can be helpful” in Paragraph 3? A.To show every coin has two sides. B.To advise people to grow more plants in spring. C.To explain why there are more plants in southern China. D.To suggest people shouldn’t complain about such weather. ①Have you ever had a home visit from your teachers? In the past, home visits were an important way for teachers and parents to communicate. However, this tradition is becoming less popular now. Instead, new forms of home visits are becoming more common. ②A recent survey in Zhejiang Province asked 6,200 parents about home visits. Surprisingly, 85.5% of them said they disliked traditional home visits. Why? Many parents worry about privacy, and others feel it takes too much time to prepare. For teachers, they have great difficulty as well because they already manage heavy work pressure. Visiting every student’s home adds stress to their energy and time. ③While traditional home visits are fading, schools are finding creative ways to connect with families and keep communication strong. For example, Wang Hongjun, a school headmaster, believes home visits help build trust between families and schools. However, he thinks traditional visits need to be changed. Wang changed how the school communicates with families by holding parent-teacher meetings twice every term. Instead of long discussions, teachers provide a 30-minute summary (总结), followed by one-on-one meetings with subject teachers that last 15 to 20 minutes per parent. This saves time and helps make communication clearer and more purposeful. ④Schools are also creating “parent classrooms.” These are special groups where parents can join activities like book clubs or skill-building workshops. These activities help parents learn new things, which is also good their children’s growth. This idea not only improves the relationship between schools and families but also adds warmth and meaning to education. ⑤Some schools are testing even more flexible (灵活的) methods. In Shanghai, parents can choose between home visits or online meetings. A few schools even organize meetings in teahouses to make parents feel relaxed. “These new methods result in full communication and understanding between home and school,” a parent said. 1.Why do most surveyed parents in Zhejiang dislike traditional home visits? A.Because they find it hard to talk with every subject teacher at home. B.Because they are already under too much work and health pressure. C.Because they either value their privacy or find the preparation tiring. D.Because they think such communication is a waste of time and energy. 2.What is the new method used by Wang Hongjun’s school every term? A.Starting online classes for parents. B.Holding twice-a-term parent meetings. C.Paying home visits every week. D.Providing tearoom meetings with students. 3.What is the passage mainly about? A.Modern schools with online teaching. B.The development of traditional education. C.New ways of teacher-parent communication. D.The relationships between teachers and parents. Brazilian artist Vik Muniz uses everyday objects in unusual ways. Muniz gave the money to the catadores workers’ organization. In 2010, a movie called Waste Land was made about Muniz’s project. The film received many awards and helped make people aware of the rubbish collectors’ lives. A“Their sleep way is the most popular in society.”,承接前文“多数人是熊型”,引出后文“朝九晚五适合这个群体”,逻辑通顺。 3.第五段介绍狼型睡眠的特点“Wolves are the true night owls. They don’t like waking up before 8 a.m. and their brains work best in the afternoon. 【答案】1.A 2.D 3.B 【导语】本文是说明文,主要介绍了草原漫行鸟这一珍稀鸟类的生存现状,以及科学家如何利用AI技术监测并保护它们。 1.根据文中“AI helps us monitor these birds without bothering them”以及“Thanks to this technology, there is new hope for these rare birds”可知,Dr. Lee对AI技术持支持态度。 2.根据文中“The key is the birds’ calls. 【答案】1.A 2.C 3.C 【导语】本文主要通过一个实验介绍了空气分子的运动与温度之间的关系,属于科普类文章。 1.推理判断题。根据文章内容主要讲解空气分子随温度变化的科学原理并配有实验可知,该文本最可能出现在杂志的“Science Corner(科学角)”板块。故选A。 2.细节理解题。根据文中实验步骤“First, take a balloon and stretch it over the mouth of an empty bottle. A.why cows mainly cause the warming of the Earth B.why we should stop eating meat to protect the Earth C.how eating meat harms the Earth and what we can do D.what the advantages of eating fruits and vegetables are 【答案】1.C 2.A 3.D 4.C 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了食用肉类对地球环境的危害(温室气体、土地占用、森林破坏等),同时分析纯素饮食的利弊,并提出绿色饮食的建议。 1.词句猜测题。根据文章第一段“experts now advise cutting down the amount of meat we eat to help slow down the warming of the Earth”以及“Around 15% of all greenhouse gases produced by humans come from raising farm animals. If we all become vegan, these gases will be slashed.”可知,人类产生的温室气体有15%来自养殖牲畜,同时专家建议减少肉类消费以减缓全球变暖,以及“If we all become vegan”这个条件句,可以推断“这些气体”应该会“大幅减少”。故选C。 2.细节理解题。根据文章第三段“Large-scale farming of cows causes especially serious harm and has been a big factor in the loss of the Amazon Rainforest”可知,大规模养奶牛对地球危害尤其严重。故选A。 3. C。 Have you ever really loved a TV show? 【答案】1.C 2.A 3.D 4.A 【导语】本文讲了追剧在年轻人中很普遍,但过度追剧会带来影响睡眠、耽误学习等危害,我们应该适度控制追剧时间,合理管理屏幕使用时长。 1.细节理解题。根据“almost a third have admitted missing sleep or becoming tired as a result; and one quarter have put off their homework”可知,追剧可能导致睡眠不足以及推迟重要任务。故选C。 2.细节理解题。根据“almost a third have admitted missing sleep or becoming tired as a result; and one quarter have put off their homework. D.By listing different art forms 【答案】1.D 2.B 3.A 4.C 【导语】本文介绍研究发现艺术有益身心健康,能降低压力等,还讲述艺术在治疗方面的应用。 1.细节理解题。根据“The result showed a 22 percent drop in stress hormones for the gallery-goers and an 8 percent drop for the other group”可知,去美术馆的那组人压力下降得更多。故选D。 2.细节理解题。根据“But when we enjoy art, this network becomes active.”可知,欣赏艺术时大脑的特殊网络会变得活跃。故选B。 3.推理判断题。根据“According to American Scientist, art therapy was first developed to help traumatized World War II soldiers express their feelings.”可知,艺术的力量长期以来被用于治疗。故选A。 4.推理判断题。根据文中提到英国的研究、瑞士的研究、艺术疗法的例子等可知,作者通过举例来展开文章。故选C。 It’s fun to visit the monkeys at the zoo, watching them play and climb. 【答案】1.B 2.D 3.A 4.A 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章以印度新德里的猕猴为例,介绍了野生动物因生存空间被挤压进入城市与人类产生的矛盾,以及当地解决该问题的无效尝试,最终呼吁人们保护野生动物的家园。 1.词句猜测题。根据“Monkeys are smart animals who can adjust to new conditions. 【答案】1.D 2.B 3.A 【导语】本文主要介绍了中国南方特有的天气现象——回南天,包括其出现的时间、形成原因、对人们生活的影响以及应对回南天的建议。 1.细节理解题。根据“Before it arrives, there are usually a few cold days, with a temperature below 12℃. As the cold air goes away, warmer air quickly comes and the temperature rises, creating a lot of water vapour. For example, if the temperature is below 12℃ from March 7th to 9th but suddenly rises on March 10th, hui nan tian will appear on March 10th.”可知,回南天出现的条件是前几天有低于12℃的冷天,之后气温突然升高,因此3月10日出现回南天的条件是3月7日至9日气温低于12℃、3月10日气温突然上升。故选D。 2.细节理解题。根据第三段“Things like televisions may break down when they get wet inside, which can be dangerous for people to turn them on.”可知,回南天期间打开电视很危险,是因为电视内部受潮可能会出故障。故选B。 3.推理判断题。根据第三段“Although the weather troubles people a lot, for nature, it can be helpful. Thanks to the humid weather, plants can grow better with enough water and warmer air.”可知,前文提到回南天给人们带来很多麻烦,后文又说它对自然有帮助,作者提到这一点是为了说明事物都有两面性。故选A。 ①Have you ever had a home visit from your teachers?
