B (2025·云南玉溪期中)Undergoing surgery can be really scary, especially for children. But a team of highly intelligent researchers have developed something that will make the experience less frightening, and the driving force behind it — a robot car. According to a study conducted by Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona Children’s Hospital, six out of 10 young patients who undergo surgery experience stress before receiving anaesthesia (麻醉).While pharmacological strategies are used to ease this, the side-effects can cause the experience to be more stressful. Working with the hospital to explore alternative solutions, researchers from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya developed a robot car as an initiative to reduce feelings of fear and anxiety. This innovative product can detect the emotions of the children by their facial expressions, heart rate, and breathing patterns, while adapting to their needs by interacting with them, changing color, making music, and creating smells. It was tested in a pilot study of 86 children aged between three and nine from 2020 to 2023, and received positive feedback from both the children and their parents.“It gave the children the feeling of control, and having an active role in the process without realising it, in a way that was fun,” a paediatric (儿科的) nurse Carmen Jerez said.“The parents were able to walk with them, talking about their driving, and they could see that their child was experiencing less anxiety and fear.” Though it has been put on hold while it awaits funding to develop a new prototype (原型), it’s clear that this technology is capable of revolutionising the well-being support of children in healthcare settings. 4.Why would the researchers from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya create the robot car?( ) A.To help the physicians with surgeries. B.To help develop the creativity of children. C.To relieve pre-operation anxiety of children. D.To reduce the side-effects caused by anaesthesia. 5.What does paragraph 4 focus on concerning the robot car?( ) A.The operating principle. B.The supportive feedbacks. C.The test procedures. D.The potential drawbacks. 6.What does the author think of the future of the robot car?( ) A.Promising. B.Hopeless. C.Competitive. D.Risky. 7.What’s the best title for the text?( ) A.Scientists Invented an Innovative Robot Car B.Most Children Feel Stressed Before a Surgery C.Robot Car Delivers Joy to Children in Hospital D.Technology Plays an Important Role in Hospitals C (2025·广东佛山期末)To date, companies have used social networks by setting up Facebook and LinkedIn pages. Many view these as an add-on to their current marketing mix. Many companies use social networks to give notice when they have new products or are having a big sale. Some companies are using new software to search social networks for discussions, comments and complaints by customers and workers about their company and products and services in order to get some great information that they use to improve their products and increase sales. But the biggest value that social networks offer goes beyond that.Social networks have inspired companies to develop a collaborative mindset to create value. They understand that ideas can come from anyone, anywhere and at any time. Toronto-based Goldcorp is a gold mining (开采) firm. With experts believing that the 55,000-acre land had been emptied, the firm was desperate to find new life.CEO Rob McEwen created the “Goldcorp Challenge” whereby he placed every piece of information about the firm on the Internet for all participants to download, study and submit recommendations.More than 1,000 participants from over 50 countries signed up to solve Goldcorp’s problems. Submissions came from participants worldwide, many not trained in mining. This open-source innovation network proved to be valuable hitting 110 targets worth more than $3 billion.By opening the information to a wider network, the company benefited from the collaboration of knowledge banks all over the world. The old ways of staying within the four walls to solve problems and developing products, services and solutions in isolation (孤立地) are gone.Companies of all sizes can start by setting up a network of experts, partners and customers within the company. There are even technology platforms that can be applied to help build this network so that you can get started immediately if you want.So stop thinking of social networks as just another way of marketing.Their next development is already underway and holds much promise for the business world. 8.What do companies use social networks for according to paragraph 1?( ) A.Serving as a way of marketing. B.Helping to know their workers better. C.Providing personal customer service. D.Strengthening connections with other companies. 9.How did the “Goldcorp Challenge” turn out?( ) A.It made the company’s trade secrets public. B.It found capable experts for the company. C.It changed the company’s main business. D.It saved the company’s situation. 10.What is the author’s suggestion for companies in the last paragraph?( ) A.Throwing out the old business model. B.Creating their own technology platforms. C.Building their own collaborative networks. D.Having confidence in the business world. 11.What is a suitable title for the text?( ) A.The Risks in the Age of Social Networking B.The Future of Social Networks for Business C.The Opportunities for Gigh-quality Products D.The Competitive Advantage of Traditional Industries Ⅱ.阅读七选五 (2025·广州执信中学期末)Throughout our lives, we usually look for just one answer to each question we encounter, like when we ask what 2+2 equals or what the capital of India is.12.( ) The “one-problem, one-answer” mindset is deeply rooted in how we think. But what happens if we’re asked to generate different responses instead of one correct answer? 13.( ) I asked them, “What if there is more than one way to record the answer to 2+2?” They voiced varied answers, such as of 8, how Lincoln began “The Gettysburg Address”, the number of runners on a relay team, and the number following 3, etc. These kids weren’t “boxed in” by the artificial “requirement” of finding a single right answer.Rather, they were asked a question beginning with the two words “What if ...?” 14.( ) What lies behind the issue then? Ken Robinson has observed that our educational systems often don’t help students develop their natural creativity.15.( ) Studies have shown that teachers claim to value qualities of independent thinking and curiosity, yet they reward behaviors of obedience. Thus, a workforce emerges that prioritizes conformity (顺从) over creativity.Simply stated, we tell students to color inside the lines and then expect adults to think outside the box. 16.( ) Ask open-ended questions more often to encourage students to explore different ways of thinking. On top of this, a safe environment should be created where students feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes.By doing so, students are better equipped to face complex problems with greater flexibility and innovation in the future. A.Avoiding risks is a natural tendency. B.However, they have the potential to succeed. C.To find out, I approached a group of fourth-graders. D.Instead, they promote uniformity and standardization. E.The results, as you can see, were diverse and inventive. F.Seldom do we consider the possibility of multiple answers. G.It’s time to break free from the “single right answer” mindset. 1.make an evaluation of 2.It’s not a coincidence that 3.emerged as 素养能力提升 Ⅰ. C项承上启下,空后句中的them指代选项中的a group of fourth-graders。 D项中的Instead与上文构成转折关系,they指的是上文中的our educational systems。
