But in many cases, efficiently utilizing (利用) the post-event venues to maximize ongoing economic benefits is one of the major considerations for the host country. Here are four cities that took different approaches to make full use of their structures of the Olympics. London, Britain The Olympic Village for the London Summer Games was transformed into 3,000 high-end apartments and has a nearly 95% occupancy rate. The area of London, called East Village, is seeing several retailers moving in and the development of a playground, and outside exercise areas. Beijing, China Built for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, the Water Cube is now Asia’s largest waterpark, called Happy Magic Water Cube, equipped with 13 waterslides, a wave pool and a spa. The second floor also has several restaurants, bars and a museum of Olympic history. New York, America The Olympic Village in Lake Placid no longer welcomes athletes now, but instead, it houses criminals as the Federal Correctional Institution. It’s not surprising, though, because having a second public purpose for new buildings was the only way to get funding from the government. Helsinki, Finland Originally constructed in 1937, the Tennispalatsi, or Tennis Palace was first used as a basketball venue in the 1952 Summer Olympics. Now, however, it has been transformed into a popular tourist destination as a cultural center with an art museum and a movie theatre. 21.Why do organizers try to reuse their Olympic stadiums? He had to relearn how to walk and talk and essentially start over. His older brother Adam quit his job and moved across the country to help him through rehab. He eventually started doing yoga, and his family saw how it transformed him and gave him a sense of hope: “It was the first time I remember so clearly coming out of a class with him and just seeing in his face this new expression, this new person.” Adam Pearce said, “We were like, ‘We need to figure out why and how that just happened.’” Wanting to bring hope and healing to others through yoga and meditation (冥想). Adain and Kevin co-founded the Love YourBrain Foundation in 2014. The nonprofit offers week-long meditations and community-based yoga classes across the United States for people who are living with long-term brain-related disabilities. “I think people feel isolated after brain injury because they don’t feel able, and when you don’t feel able, you generally retreat back inside.” Adam said, “At these retreats, people are given the space to lean into those deep challenges and express them and talk about them.” Ultimately, the organization aims to create a safe space and supportive community where people with brain-related disabilities can heal together. “Connection happens quickly because there’s such a shared common understanding among the group.” Adam said. “Once someone sees someone be vulnerable, it instantly allows the next person (to be). By the end, people start to see vulnerability as a superpower.” 24.What prevented Kevin from career development? A.A severe brain cancer. B.A new training routine. C.A devastating accident. C A new study suggests people might like chatbot-produced poems for their simple and straightforward images, emotions and themes. In a recent experiment, the researchers tasked OpenAI’s ChatGPT with generating poems in the styles of famous poets, then presented 1,634 participants with ten poems — five human-written and five chatbot-generated — and assessed how people rated the poems based on 14 qualities, including rhythm and originality. Interestingly, they tended to rate the AI-generated poems higher on average, suggesting a preference for their straightforwardness and clarity. Why readers seem to prefer AI-generated poetry is not entirely clear, but the researchers’ best guess is that the AI poems may be more appealing because they are relatively straightforward and simple to comprehend. “Emily Dickinson sometimes breaks the expected rhyme scheme (韵律) on purpose,” says Brian Porter, a researcher at the University of Pittsburgh, “But the AI-generated poems in her style never did that once.” Besides, modern readers don’t seem to want to bother themselves to read deep to think critically. Instead, they prefer texts giving them instant answers. “When readers say they prefer AI poetry, they would seem to be showing their frustration when faced with writing that does not yield to their attention,” he adds. While the findings raise concerns about AI potentially replacing human artists and putting them out of work one day, Dorothea Lasky, the only living poet whose writings were included in the experiments, says it’s not necessarily a bad thing that readers enjoyed the AI-generated poems. “Poetry will always be necessary,” Lasky says, “If they read AI poems and like that poem better than a human-generated poem, then that, to me, is beautiful. They have a good experience with a poem, and I don’t care who wrote it. I feel there is room for all poets — even robot poets.” This study provided a platform for the intersection of technology and creativity, prompting reflection on the future of poetry and artistic expression. 28.Why did the researchers conduct the experiment? A.To create a technique. B.To clarify a concept. C.To detail an example. D.To confirm a finding. 29.What does the example of Emily Dickinson imply? A.Robots are more complicated than humans. B.AI meets modern readers’ reading preference. C.Chatbot is trained to write in creative patterns. D.Classic poetry lacks unique charming features. 30.Which belief does Dorothea Lasky have about poetry? A.All flowers bloom together. B.No dish suits all tastes. C.It’s no use crying over spilt milk. D.Time and tide wait for no man. 31.What can be a suitable title for the text? A.Will Poets Be lost in AI Era? B.ChatGPT: a New Advancement C.Fake or Real — a Concern about AI D.ChatGPT or Dickinson, Who is better? D Costa Rica’s jungles might seem an unlikely spot for a group of medics (医学工作者) to gather together. But struggling through this dense stretch of Central American wilderness, that’s exactly who you might encounter. Trading medical instruments and lab-made medicines for rafts and snake venom, these medics come together under the guidance of World Extreme Medicine (WEM), an organisation training medical staff like nurses and doctors to work in the world’s most unstable and remote conditions. Extreme medicine is a subdiscipline (分支) of medicine in which healthcare providers respond to crises in war zones, assist those left behind after humanity’s most horrific disasters, and conduct medicine not just on land, but also deep beneath the sea and even in outer space. While all medics need to think on their feet, Mark Hannaford, the founder of WEM, explains that for extreme medics, that need is heightened. Medics might treat a patient in the burning heat of a desert, on an ice-cold tundra(苔原), or stabilize a person at altitude or in the dark. Despite this, he says, “you don’t need to run a marathon with a backpack on every day to be an extreme medic. Physical fitness is not the challenge. The challenge is adequately preparing yourself for the environment you are going into.” “You really have to take good self-care in these environments,” adds pre-hospital lead and extreme medicine trainer, Eoin Walker. In places like Costa Rica, he teaches medics skills in security, diet and wound closure etc.. But medics also learn to care for their own physical and mental health. “In the UK, we don’t have to remember to drink every hour, or clean and dry our feet, or look at our calorie content — but you do in that environment,” he says. “People who live where disaster hits still have issues like diabetes, babies are still being born, people need medical treatment,” says Mark. And with more disasters set to strike, their needs will only increase. “Training extreme medics is becoming more important as we face environmental challenges like climate change,” he adds. 32.Costa Rica’s jungles in this text are where ______. A.extreme medical service is offered B.extreme medics create new medicine C.the head office of WEM is located D.extreme medics do business with locals 33.What does the underlined phrase “that need” in paragraph 3 refer to? A.Being physically healthy. B.Providing healthcare in crisis. C.Responding wisely and quickly. D.Analyzing working environment. 34.What message does Eoin Walker want to convey? A.It’s never too late to learn. B.Self-care cannot be stressed enough. C.Prevention is better than cure. D.Healthy environment matters a lot. 35.What is the purpose of the text? A.To call on people to be extreme medics. B.To introduce a new rising branch of medicine. C.To recommend a medical training organization. D.To show the growing demand of medics in remote areas. Sports injuries happen when we push our body too hard, and mistakes like running too much or not warming up enough can also cause them. 36 Set realistic goals. You should definitely set goals and work hard to achieve them. 37 Whether your goal is to swim more laps or run a specific distance, set an obtainable goal and gradually work to improve. Plan and prepare. If you plan to begin exercising regularly, you should meet with a health adviser first and discuss your options. 38 Working with a personal trainer is often a safe and enjoyable way to start a new activity. Warm up and cool down. It is important to warm up before physical activity because research has shown that a heated muscle is less likely to be strained (扭伤). One way experts recommend is some light walking or jogging before you start your exercise and then again afterward to help your muscles cool down slowly. 39 This can be done by stretching before and after a workout, but it is best to do so once the body is already warm. Take your time. Don’t push yourself too hard or too fast. 40 We need to allow for enough time to gradually increase training levels so that our bodies have time to adjust to the stress on our bones, joints and muscles. For instance, when you are running, increase the distance gradually and give yourself plenty of time to recover between workouts. A.Getting in shape or learning a new sport takes time. B.However, it’s crucial that your goals are realistic and achievable. C.Another important way to prevent injury is to increase your flexibility. D.Adjust your activities if your body is showing signs of too much stress. E.Also, take your time to learn the best techniques required for your sport. F.If unsure of how to do an exercise properly, ask a coach or trainer for help. She hadn’t played there for a whole week because a bee had stung her, and the memory still made her heart race. She took a deep breath and finally opened the door, ready to face her fear. As soon as she stepped outside, a big bumblebee (大黄蜂), even bigger than her thumb, appeared. Its yellow and black body was covered with soft, fuzzy hair that shone in the sunlight, and its wings made a low humming sound as it hovered near the flowers. Ella stepped outside carefully, holding her breath and hoping the bee wouldn’t notice her. After just three steps, the bee flew straight toward her. It moved quickly but didn’t seem aggressive. It hovered in the air right in front of her nose, only a few inches away. Ella’s heart beat fast. She stepped back and crouched down. “Please, don’t sting (蛰) me!” she cried. Ella wanted to run, but her legs wouldn’t move. To her astonishment, the bee replied, “I am a guard bee.” Ella was so surprised that the bee could speak that she momentarily forgot her fear. “What are you guarding?” she asked cautiously. “I just want to play on my swing.” The bumblebee hovered around Ella’s head and said, “I’m not stopping you from going anywhere. I’m here to guard you.” Ella wasn’t convinced. “Last week, a bee stung me for no reason. I really wish you wouldn’t follow me. What if you hurt me by accident?” she said, with her uneasy eyes fixed on the insect. “That must have been a terrible mistake.” the bee said, landing on a nearby leaf. “We only sting when we feel truly threatened. I promise. I’m here to protect you. not to harm you.” Just then, a big dog ran into Ella’s yard, barking loudly and running toward Ella. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Watching the dog run away, Ella felt very thankful for her little guardian. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司1 / 23 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025-2026学年高二选择性必修第三册英语单元测试 Unit 5·提升卷 学校:___________班级:___________姓名:___________分数:___________ (时间:120分钟,满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1. M: It's for a picture book. W: OK. Text 2 W: Sam, I'm sorry I can't go to the theatre with you tonight. M: Why? W: I've got to finish a report. My boss needs it for tomorrow morning's meeting. Text 3 W: What do you think of my new shoes? I got them for my birthday. M: Well, actually, I think your old white ones fit you better. W: I agree. Text 4 W: Do you know Victor, our new neighbor? M: Yeah, he makes videos for bands. They're wonderful. W: Yes, he does them very well. Text 5 W: Jean is unhappy recently. What's wrong with her? M: She has been homesick for a week. W: Why don't we visit her and find out how she's doing? M: Good idea. Text 6 M: Alice, how is everything going? W: Not bad. M: I heard you're taking a week off this month. Do you have any special plans? W: Yes. I'm leaving for Bondi Beach this Friday and coming back next Thursday. I'm really looking forward to lying on the beach and reading some books. M: That would be great. I went there last Sunday. You should visit the Science Museum when you go there. It's not far from the beach. I'm sure you'll like it. W: Thanks. I will check it out when I take a city tour. Text 7 M: Sophia, are you alright? W: I have been waiting for two months for the admission letter from the university, but there's no news. M: There's still some time before the school starts. Maybe you will receive the admission letter soon. W: I must have done terribly in the English and math exams. M: Come on, don't lose heart. W: I have phoned the school. They said they didn't get my information. It means my score is under their requirement, so they don't have my information in their system. M: I am so sorry, Sophia. W: Don't worry about me, Jacky. By the way, I heard that you've got the letter. Congratulations! M: Thank you. But what are you going to do next? W: I am going to apply for some vocational schools. I like fashion designing and I want to study it. M: Don't be sad, Sophia. You will be doing great in the future. W: Thank you, Jacky, but I am not sad. On the contrary, I am kind of happy. M: It is a team sport usually involving two teams with five players each. W: Oh. M: Sometimes it is also commonly played three-on-three, two-on-two, or one-on-one. W: How do the players score? M: At any time during a game, if a player successfully shoots the ball through the basket, he will score a field goal two or three points for his team. W: What skills do the players need? M: Basically, the players must be good at dribbling the ball and passing it. Since it is a team sport, the two key factors of winning are concentration and cooperation. W: I see. M: Do you like basketball? W: No. I like swimming. M: Oh, good. It's also an interesting sport. W: Tomorrow we will go swimming, would you like to go with me? M: OK. Text 9 M: Hello, can I speak to Anna Jones, please? W: I'm afraid she's out to visit her grandma but you can leave a message with me — I'm her mother. M: Thanks. This is Bob Watson from the shoe shop Foresters. W: How do you spell that? M: It's F-O-R-E-S-T-E-R-S. W: OK, I've got that. M: Can you tell her that we now have the shoes she wanted in size thirty-eight? We only had size forty when she came into the shop last week. And she'll be pleased to know that they're also in the color she liked — green. Before we only had black and blue ones. W: That's good news. M: Yes, and there is even more good news. We're having a sale, so they're forty pounds cheaper. Now they're sixty-five pounds, which is a good price. W: Well, she'll be really pleased. Can she go and get them tomorrow at around five o'clock? M: She'll have to come before two o'clock, I'm afraid, because that's when we shut tomorrow. W: OK, I'll tell her. Text 10 W: Hello, everyone! Most of you want to know how to find a part-time job and I'll introduce something about that. I was lucky enough to get my first part-time job because my mom shopped several times a week in our local grocery store and she heard that they needed staff. I worked part-time during high school and full-time during summer holiday and during breaks from college. My brother worked in a supermarket in our neighborhood too. My younger sister worked in the drug store across the street which, of course, was also visited by my mom on a regular basis. More than a few years later, that's still the best way to find a job, though I had never heard of the term “networking” back then. You now can start your online job search by visiting the sites that focus on part time chances. Searching by type of position will produce a list of openings. There's also a list of national employers that hire part-time workers. Enter how many miles you're willing to travel into the search engine and it will give you a list of jobs that meet your requirements. Next, make sure you dress properly, get ready to complete an application, and are prepared for an interview. A Hosting the Olympics requires large spending. A.To boost national pride. B.To earn international reputation. C.To increase financial returns. D.To reduce environmental impacts. 22.Which city applied its sports venue to housing improvement? A.Beijing. B.London. C.Helsinki. D.New York. 23.How does the present Olympic Village in Lake Placid differ from the others? A.It has been remodeled into a prison. B.It features cultural exhibitions. C.It is equipped with advanced facilities. 根据第一段“A new study suggests people might like chatbot-produced poems for their simple and straightforward images, emotions and themes.(一项新的研究表明,人们可能会喜欢聊天机器人制作的诗歌,因为他们的简单明了的图像,情感和主题。)”和第二段“In a recent experiment, the researchers tasked OpenAI’s ChatGPT with generating poems in the styles of famous poets, then presented 1,634 participants with ten poems — five human-written and five chatbot-generated — and assessed how people rated the poems based on 14 qualities, including rhythm and originality.(在最近的一项实验中,研究人员让OpenAI的ChatGPT以著名诗人的风格生成诗歌,然后向1634名展示了十首诗——五首是人类写的,五首是聊天机器人生成的——并评估了人们对这些诗的14种品质的评分,节奏和原创性。)” 根据第三段中“Why readers seem to prefer AI-generated poetry is not entirely clear, but the researchers’ best guess is that the AI poems may be more appealing because they are relatively straightforward and simple to comprehend. “Emily Dickinson sometimes breaks the expected rhyme scheme (韵律) on purpose,” says Brian Porter, a researcher at the University of Pittsburgh, “But the AI-generated poems in her style never did that once.”(为什么读者似乎更喜欢AI生成的诗歌并不完全清楚,但是研究人员的最佳猜测是,AI诗可能更具吸引力,因为它们相对简单明了,简单地理解。匹兹堡大学的研究员布莱恩·波特(Brian Porter)说:“艾米丽·迪金森有时会故意打破预期的韵律。但是AI生成的她的风格的诗歌从未那样做过一次(打破预期的韵律)。)”可推知,艾米丽·迪金森(Emily Dickinson)的例子暗示了AI满足现代读者的阅读偏好——人们喜欢简单明了的内容。故选B。 30.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段中“ “Poetry will always be necessary,” Lasky says, “If they read AI poems and like that poem better than a human-generated poem, then that, to me, is beautiful. 【答案】32.A 33.C 34.B 35.B 【导语】本文为一篇新闻报道。WEM是一个新兴的医学分支,文章介绍了WEM的性质、服务区域,对参与其中的医务人员的要求,以及世界对极限医护人员的需求。 32.细节理解题。根据第二段“Trading medical instruments and lab-made medicines for rafts and snake venom, these medics come together under the guidance of World Extreme Medicine (WEM), an organisation training medical staff like nurses and doctors to work in the world’s most unstable and remote conditions. (WEM的创始人马克·汉纳福德解释说,虽然所有的医护人员都需要快速反应,但对于极端医护人员来说,这种需求更加强烈。)”可知,所有的医护人员都需要think on their feet,意为“快速反应”,that need指代上文的think on their feet,与“Responding wisely and quickly”意思相近。故选C项。 34.推理判断题。根据第四段“‘You really have to take good self-care in these environments,’ adds pre-hospital lead and extreme medicine trainer, Eoin Walker. In places like Costa Rica, he teaches medics skills in security, diet and wound closure etc.. But medics also learn to care for their own physical and mental health. ‘In the UK, we don’t have to remember to drink every hour, or clean and dry our feet, or look at our calorie content — but you do in that environment,’ he says. 通读全文,尤其是第二段“Trading medical instruments and lab-made medicines for rafts and snake venom, these medics come together under the guidance of World Extreme Medicine (WEM), an organisation training medical staff like nurses and doctors to work in the world’s most unstable and remote conditions (这些医务人员在世界极限医学组织(WEM)的指导下聚集在一起,用医疗器械和实验室制造的药物换取木筏和蛇毒。WEM是一个培训护士和医生等医务人员在世界上最不稳定和偏远的条件下工作的组织。)”,以及第三段“Extreme medicine is a subdiscipline (分支) of medicine in which healthcare providers respond to crises in war zones, assist those left behind after humanity’s most horrific disasters, and conduct medicine not just on land, but also deep beneath the sea and even in outer space. I promise. I’m here to protect you. not to harm you.” 注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Just then, a big dog ran into Ella’s yard, barking loudly and running toward Ella. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Watching the dog run away, Ella felt very thankful for her little guardian. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Just then, a big dog ran into Ella’s yard, barking loudly and running toward Ella. Memories of the sharp sting and the burning pain made her hands tremble. Ella was too scared to move, her old fears rushing back. But remembering the bee’s promise, she stood her ground. The brave bumblebee immediately flew into the dog’s face, buzzing fiercely. Confused and startled by the persistent insect, the dog eventually turned and fled. Watching the dog run away, Ella felt very thankful for her little guardian. All the tension in her shoulders melted away. All her fear vanished. A bright smile spread across her face and she gently held out her hand. “You kept your promise,” she said. The bee landed softly on her finger, its hum a friendly reply. In that moment, Ella conquered her fear. More importantly, she had gained an unexpected friendship built on trust and a kept promise. She learned that courage is built when someone keeps their word, and friendship begins when we trust enough to overcome our fears. 词汇激活 行为类 ①记得:remember/recall ②消失:vanish/fade away ③逃跑:flee/ run away ④获得:gain/obtain 情绪类 ①困惑的:confused/puzzled ②害怕:fear/dread 【点睛】【高分句型1】Ella was too scared to move, her old fears rushing back. (运用了独立主格结构) 【高分句型2】She learned that courage is built when someone keeps their word, and friendship begins when we trust enough to overcome our fears. She learned that courage is built when someone keeps their word, and friendship begins when we trust enough to overcome our fears. 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司1 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $………………○………………外………………○………………装………………○………………订………………○………………线………………○……………… ………………○………………内………………○………………装………………○………………订………………○………………线………………○……………… 此卷只装订不密封 ………………○………………内………………○………………装………………○………………订………………○………………线………………○……………… ………………○………………外………………○………………装………………○………………订………………○………………线………………○……………… … 学校:______________姓名:_____________班级:_______________考号:______________________ 2025-2026学年高二选择性必修第三册英语单元测试 Unit 5·提升卷 学校:___________班级:___________姓名:___________分数:___________ (时间:120分钟,满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1. A.To boost national pride. B.To earn international reputation. C.To increase financial returns. D.To reduce environmental impacts. 22.Which city applied its sports venue to housing improvement? But in an instant, it came to an end. During training, he struck his head on the edge of a pipe, resulting in a traumatic (创伤的) brain injury. It changed the course of the then-22-year-old’s life. 第二节(共5小题:每小题2. 5分, 满分12. 5分) 阅读下面短文, 从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Sports injuries happen when we push our body too hard, and mistakes like running too much or not warming up enough can also cause them. I promise. I’m here to protect you. not to harm you.” 注意:1. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第3页(共8页) 试题 第4页(共8页) 试题 第1页(共8页) 试题 第2页(共8页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
