In this lesson, we will be able to:
1. Learn the phonetic symbols

2. Be able to spell words according to the the spelling rules of

句子重音
为了强调句中的重要词语(常为实词和信息词),我们在读一句话中会着重读某个词来引起听者的注意。一般来说,名词、形容词、动词和副词要重读;冠词、代词、连词、介词、人称代词等不重读。
Once upon a time, a boy named 'Jack went on a 'hike and he lost his way 'back.
(强调是Jack而不是别人远足,Jack为信息词)
(hike为名词,back为副词,需要重读)

句子连读
连读的条件是相邻的两词在意义上必须密切相关,同属一个意群,连读所构成的音节一般都不重读,只需顺其自然地一带而过。例如:
1) “辅音+元音”型连读
连续在同一个意群里,若相邻两词中前一个词以辅音结尾,后一个词以元音开头,这就要将辅音和元音拼起来连读。

2) “r/re+元音”型连读
如果前一个词以-r或者-re结尾,后一个词是以元音开头,这时的r与re不但要发/r/, 而且还要与后面的元音拼起来读。

3) “辅音+半元音”型连读
英语语音中的/j/和/w/是半元音,如果前一个词是以辅音结尾,后一个词以半元音,特别是/j/开头,此时也要连读。

4) “元音+元音”型连读
如果前一个词以元音结尾,后一个词以元音开头,这两个音往往也要自然而不间断地连读到一起。
