M:There are so many dogs here. What should we do?
W:Let's begin by cleaning the cages. We also need to check if they have enough food and water.I'm glad we can
do something for these poor animals at the animal shelter.
Text 2
M:Are you going to conduct the job interview?
W:Yes,I remember it was supposed to start at nine o'clock, but due to some preparations not being ready in
time, the company put it off by one hour.
Text 3
W:Hi Tom,you always look so energetic.Do you have a secret?
M:Well,I keep a healthy lifestyle.I usually go running in the morning.Sometimes I go cycling on weekends if
I have time. But I rarely get the chance to swim these days because the pool is too crowded.
Text 4
M:Ladies and gentlemen,we're about to head to the Great Wall. The bus will leave in 10 minutes.
W:Oh great.I'm almost ready.Just need to take my camera for shooting.
M:All right.Make sure you have everything done. We'll meet at the bus stop. There are some snacks on the
bus if you're hungry.

W:Got it.Photos will be a great addition.

M:You have to watch this new science fiction movie.I watched it last night and I'm still excited just thinking
about it.
W:Oh,really?I didn't know you were such a big fan of science fiction. What's so great about it?
M:The story is out of this world. It's about a group of space explorers who find a mysterious planet. They
encounter all kinds of strange creatures and amazing landscapes.
W:Sounds interesting, but you know,I am not into stories. How are the special effects?
M:They are mind-blowing.The latest technology creates super real outer space scenes. You can even feel like
you are flying in space with the characters.
W:Okay,you've convinced me.I'll give it a try.
Text 7
W:Hi David,I know you're preparing an environmental protection report. How's it going?
M:To be honest, not too smoothly.I'm really struggling with finding reliable information sources.
W:Why not search online? There's tons of data there.
M:I've already tried that. However, the information on the Internet is in a complete mess. And it's hard to tell
which sources are trustworthy.
W:Hmm,that's true.Well,I have quite a few environmental science books at home. You can come and pick
some useful ones.
M:That would be really helpful. Thanks a lot.I was worried I'd have to spend a fortune buying new books.
Text 8
W:Welcome to space talk,Mr Holland.Congratulations on completing your latest mission aboard the
international space station.
英语(一)参考答案第1页(共4页)
M:Thank you. It's my honor to be here.
W:What first inspired you to become an astronaut?
M:Ever since I was a child,I've been attracted by the stars. My father,an engineer who worked on early space
projects, used to tell me stories about the universe. That curiosity never left me.
W:What's the most exciting part of your work?
M:Conducting experiments in micro gravity.Whether it's growing plants or studying cosmic rays, every
discovery helps advance human knowledge and might one day benefit life on earth.
W:What's your biggest hope for future space exploration?
M:To see humans establish a sustainable settlement on Mars. It's not just about planting a flag or sending more
satellites. It's about ensuring our species future among the stars.
Text 9
M:Lily,I'm really stressed out.The regional debate competition will be held this Saturday. And guess what?
Alex,our star debater,hurt his ankle yesterday.He can't participate.
W:Oh no,that's a huge problem. What are you going to do?
M:I was so worried at first that I even considered pulling out.But then I thought about all the hard work we've
put in,so I decided to take on the main role, although I'm not as experienced as Alex.
W:That's really brave of you.Do you need any help?I have much experience in debate and you can inquire
of me.
M:That would be great.I'm currently busy with research and writing arguments.I also need to practice my
delivery. It's going to be a tough week.
W:I'm sure you'll do well.If you need anything else, just let me know.Maybe we can have a simulated debate
to help you practice.
M:That's a good idea.I do believe your help will serve me well.
Text 10
M:Good evening,everyone.Welcome to today's broadcast.Today,I want to address a serious problem-
plastic pollution in our oceans.Did you know that over 8 million tons of plastic waste end up in the oceans
each year? Not only does it harm marine life, but also affects human health through the food chain. For
instance, sea turtles often mistake plastic bags for jellyfish and eat them, leading to deadly blockages.
Recently, some experts visited a coastal town and saw beaches covered with plastic bottles and fishing nets.
What surprised them most was that even in remote areas, microplastics were found in the sand and seawater.
Despite this, many communities lack proper recycling systems and public awareness remains low.So what
can we do to change the situation?
First, schools should ban single use plastic bottles in cafeterias and replace them with reusable containers.
Second, local governments are expected to invest more money in waste management facilities.Last but not
least, each of us can join the clean coast volunteer programme to remove trash from beaches monthly.By the
way, more details about the program, please log into the website www.cleancoast.com.

One possible version:
I spent the next two decades hiding my limb difference.I burned in woven sweaters even at beach fires,
perfected imaginary arm handshakes in library bathrooms, and kept my left sleeve always balled into a fist. The
pretending fell apart when Mom's sudden illness struck.Racing past midnight streets,I realized too late my
glove lay abandoned on the taxi seat. Her heart monitor sounded weakly as I held the pen with sweaty fingers,
my bare arm exposed under hospital lights.
Unhiding was hard but rewarding.I posted violin videos showing both arms-one guiding the bow,the
other dancing on strings.Teens with limb differences messaged:"You look like me."At a youth conference,I
taught one-handed hair tying.A girl with an artificial arm approached, tears streaming down her face:"Mom
always does my hair.Tomorrow I'll ask her to teach me."Her words repeated the nurse's wisdom years earlier,
now reaching beyond my own skin.

Wilbur Wright was born in 1867 near Melville,Indiana. His brother Orville was born four
years later in Dayton,Ohio. As they grew up,the Wright brothers experimented with
mechanical things.Later, the Wright brothers began to design their own flying machine. They
used ideas they had developed from earlier experiments with a toy helicopter, kites, the
printing machine and bicycles.
Soon, they needed a place to test their ideas about flight. The best place with the best
wind conditions seemed to be a piece of sandy land in North Carolina along the coast of the
Atlantic Ocean. It was called Kill Devil Hills, near the town of Kitty Hawk. The Wright
brothers did many tests with gliders()at Kitty Hawk. With these tests, they learned
how to solve many problems.
By the autumn of 1903,Wilbur and Orville had designed and built an airplane powered by
a gasoline engine. The plane had wings 12 meters across. It weighed about 360 kilograms,
including the pilot. On December 17th,1903,they made the world's first flight in a machine
that was heavier than air and powered by an engine.Orville flew the plane 36 meters. He was
in the air for 12 seconds. The two brothers made three more flights that day.
It was almost five years before the Wright brothers became famous. In 1908,Wilbur went
to France. He gave demonstration flights at heights of 90 meters.A French company agreed to
begin making the Wright brothers'flying machine.
Orville made successful flights in the United States at the time Wilbur was in France. The
United States War Department agreed to buy a Wright brothers'plane.Wilbur and Orville
suddenly became world heroes. But the brothers were not seeking fame. They returned to
Dayton where they continued to improve their airplanes. They taught many others how to fly.
Wilbur Wright died of typhoid fever()in 1912.Orville Wright continued designing
and inventing until he died many years later,in 1948.
24.Why did the Wright brothers choose Kitty Hawk for their tests?
A.It had sandy land for safe landings.
B.Its wind conditions were ideal.
C.It was close to their home.
D.French companies recommended it.
英语(一)第3页(共8页)
25.What can be inferred about the Wright brothers'fame before 1908?
A.They were already world heroes after the first flight.
B.The U.S.War Department promoted them immediately.
C.French companies made them famous in 1903.
D.Their achievements were initially unrecognized.
26.Based on the text, which can best describe the Wright brothers?
A.They sought fame and wealth.
B.They relied on government support from the start.
C.They persisted in innovation despite challenges.
D.They preferred theoretical research over practical tests.
27.How does the passage mainly develop?
A.By making comparisons.
B.By listing time.
C.By explaining a definition.
D.By showing spaces.
C
A team of researchers from the University of Groningen, the University of Tuscia,
Roflight,Lemselobrink and the Royal Netherlands Air Force has designed, built and tested a
robot named RobotFalcon fashioned to look and fly like a peregrine falcon(as a means of
driving off flocks()of birds around airports.
Birds,whether alone or in flocks,are a menace to flying planes.When a plane strikes a
bird, damage will be caused-occasionally with disastrous results. The plane that famously
landed on the Hudson River in 2009,for example, was damaged by birds entering the plane's
engines accidentally,causing their failure.
Scientists have been working on ways to prevent birds from entering flight spaces but
thus far have met with only partial success.Currently drones are used to scare birds away,as
are trained falcons and systems that make sounds of birds in great pain.
In this new effort, the researchers took a new approach-they designed a remote-
controlled flying robot just like a peregrine falcon that catches and kills other birds, which
therefore try to avoid it.
The result is the RobotFalcon, which is painted to look like a real peregrine falcon and is
powered by an internal engine. To capably copy the flying patterns of a falcon, the researchers
studied the flying characteristics of real birds and then added features to their robot bird that
would allow it to fly in similar ways.
During field tests, the robot bird scared away entire flocks of birds within five minutes of

Some scientists insist that once we discover the truth about the world,we are done.
Anyone who denies such truths, they suggest,is stupid or ignorant.Well,no.In science,
what we do is both hard and, often, hard to explain. The history of science offers many
examples of matters that scientists thought they had resolved, only to discover that these
matters needed to be reconsidered.Familiar examples include Earth as the center of the
universe and the stability of continents.
Science is a process of learning and discovery, and sometimes we learn that what we
thought was right is wrong..To say that science is“true”or“permanent'”is like saying that
“beauty is absolute'”.At best,it's a bit off--key(不恰当的).The concept of beauty today is
very different from what it was in ancient Greece or the Middle Ages, and so are most of our
“laws”of nature.
Other scientists may say scientific findings are true because they use "the scientific
method".But we can never actually agree on what that method is.Some will say it is
observation and description of the world.Others will say it is the use of experience and
experiment.Recently a leading scientist said the scientific method was to avoid fooling oneself
into thinking something is true that is not.
Each of these views has its value, but if the claim is that any one of these is the scientific
method, then they all fail.History and philosophy have shown that the idea of a singular(-
scientific method is unscientific. In fact, the methods of science have varied between
disciplines and across time.Scientists have bitterly argued about which methods are the best,
and,as we all know, bitter arguments rarely get resolved.
In my view, science is not simple, and neither is the natural world. Our efforts to
understand and explain the natural world are just that:efforts.
Because we're human,we often fall flat. The good news is that when that happens,we
pick ourselves up,brush ourselves off,and get back to work.Understanding the world we live
in,and using that knowledge to do useful things,is its own reward.
32.According to paragraph 1,how is truth viewed in science?
A.It may have lasting value.
B.It may need re-examining.
C.It should be known to all.
D.It should not be rejected.
33.Why does the author mention "beauty"in paragraph 2?
A.To raise a question.
B.To make a prediction.
C.To illustrate an idea.
D.To propose a solution.
34.What does the author think of the methods of science?
A.They shouldn't be used to fool the public.
B.They rely heavily on observation and description
C.They seldom cause arguments among scientists.
D.They shouldn't be limited to a single method.
35.What could be the best title for the passage?
A.Efforts in Science:Dreaming Big
B.Science:Endless Journey to Truth
C.Scientists:Defenders of Science
D.Scientific Method:Simple Choice

How to Improve Your Handwriting
With most of today's written communication typed out,you may not see much of a reason
to improve your handwriting. But from time to time, you still need to fill out paper forms-
and that's exactly when you'll realize your script looks not great.36 You can start by
giving yourself a fighting chance:sit down at a stable, spacious table or desk where you can
write at your leisure.37 If you're a leftie(左撇子),stay away from broad--nibbed fountain
pens that might dispense a lot of ink with each stroke-you'll likely end up with smudged
words all over your page as your hand crosses your freshly written letters.Gel pens and
英语(一)第5页(共8页)
ballpoint pens are usually quick-drying,so starting with those is a good idea.Righties have
fewer restrictions,as most writing tools work well for them.
Once you have your tools and setup,it's time to write.38 It can be anything:a story,
your train of thought,or a transcription of a song you like. When you write,do it at a normal
pace and pay attention to how you hold the pen.If your nails turn white from the force you're
exerting, your grip is too strong-relax your hand and try again. This is important because an
excessively strong grip will lead to pain and discomfort, which can result in hand and wrist
cramp(),or even injury. On top of that, pain will affect the consistency of your
handwriting and eventually prevent you from putting pen to paper at all, making this whole
process useless.
39 Pay attention to spacing,the slant of your letters,their height,their form,and
their position relative to the guidelines you're using. The most important elements to focus on
are consistency and legibility(易读性),so go through your lines and highlight which words
and letters differ most from the rest, and which could be misread.
You know repetition is key to learning, and only through writing-again and again-will
your body get used to the changes you want to make to your personal script.40 You can
do this by taking up a hobby like journaling or thoughtful writing. This will give you the
opportunity to sit down for a few minutes each day and put your growing skills to good use.
A.Then get a pen you like.
B.Next, find a paper layout angle that suits your writing.
C.Start by filling half to a whole page with fresh handwriting.
D.The good news is,it's never too late to get better at handwriting.
E.When you're done writing your practice page, take a look and analyze it.
F.You can also write down your own train of thought if you can keep up with it.
G.A helpful way to practice is to make these exercises part of your everyday life.

第二节(25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
My birth was a little more dramatic than the standard way a baby enters the world.
Within minutes of coming out, doctors gave my parents the difficult news:I was born missing
my left hand.Mom later told me how a nurse placed my tiny wrist against her tear-damp
cheek."She'll touch the world differently,"the woman said, her thumb brushing my forehead
as she wrapped me in a sunflower-patterned blanket that became my childhood security object.
My parents took that instruction seriously.I played sports, acted in theater, and did well
in school.While I got stares about my disability,I wasn't treated badly.When I broke my
right arm in sixth grade,my science teacher built me a holder from rubber bands and clips. For
three weeks,I used it like a mechanized grabber-taking frog organs in dissection()lab
while classmates shouted "Robo-Hand Rules!"Their cheers rang strangely in the chemical-
smelling air before the tool retired to my drawer, its rubber bands (drooping)like forgotten
strings.
As kids do,I learned to adapt. One earliest memory is Dad teaching me to tie shoes.I
pushed him away, inventing a knee-winding method that left red marks.Mom eventually cut
all shoestrings with her scissors."Velcro is NASA tech,"she said, fighting back tears as we
covered my shoes with shiny planet stickers.Jupiter's red spot matched perfectly where my
smallest finger should have been.
The difference struck hard in high school. At 13,boarding the bus,a boy's long stare
burned my left arm like poured acid.I slid my hand into the handwarmer pocket Dad had sewn
inside my jacket-his sewing making Orion's Belt where flesh ended.Through four winters,
I'd rub those sewn stars until worn-out,their silver threads catching on my flat nails when
anxiety struck.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
I spent the next two decades hiding my limb difference.
Unhiding was hard but rewarding.
