You must keep your head clear. 3.He had been on the point of feeling himself go each time.I do not know. But I will try it once more. [提能训练] ①(完成句子)The little boy ________________________ while riding a bike. ②(用所给词的适当形式填空)William was very ________ when he heard the _________ news.(confuse) ③(翻译句子)Every time I feel myself go, there is always someone willing to support me. ____________________________________________ carefully watched the path confused confusing 1.But when he put all of his effort on, starting it well out before the fish came alongside and pulling with all his strength, the fish pulled part way over and then righted himself and swam away. 2.His mouth was too dry to speak but he could not reach for the water now. 3.I'll try it again, the old man promised, although his hands were mushy now and he could only see well in flashes. [提能训练] (完成句子) ①I'm _____________ any further. ②_____________________, he's always willing to help those in need. too tired to go Although he is not rich (三)赏描摹之韵(心理描写) 1.Pull, hands, he thought. Hold up, legs. Last for me, head. Last for me. You never went. This time I'll pull him over. 2.Now you are getting confused in the head, he thought. You must keep your head clear. Keep your head clear and know how to suffer like a man. Or a fish, he thought. “Clear up, head,” he said in a voice he could hardly hear. “Clear up.” A As a college student in Boston, I formed the habit of buying used books. I enjoy the hunt, the good price and the unrecognized treasures. I find old textbooks, ex-bestsellers, and books on subjects I've never heard of but now I must learn all about. I don't search for rare books, first editions, or leather-bound editions but books that are worth reading. Rereading, for me, is a pleasure during retirement. The theater and the concert hall become less appealing to me, along with crowds. Staying alone and reading books have become extremely important to me. Literature needs the flesh of experience to have its full effect. Different books offer me insights and ways of expressing that stuck in my mind as grains of sand in an oyster — now shine like pearls. My taste in books improves with age. While packing for a move, which occurs at intervals of five to seven years, I clear my shelves and pick my books. I abandon a few, later regret my decisions, and look for them again. Several years ago, I got rid of books related to my job — architecture. Some were design guides, reference books, product catalogs, and things that went out of date. Some were historical or centered on a period or an architect. These had given me many hours of pleasure. Will I ever open their covers again? Certainly. I held on to the red bulk of Sir Banister Fletcher's A History of Architecture and books on Paris, Rome, and Boston. I gave away drafting equipment and instruments. I threw out rolls and rolls of paper, and old drawings of projects completed long ago, some of which had even been damaged. This time, I stay put in a cottage that suits my status and I've moved on in spirit. No doubt I will acquire more used books and throw away more books as passions grow and fade, like feathers changing with the seasons. 1.What does the author consider most important when choosing used books? Lewis in an essay named On Three Ways of Writing for Children. Those who say that children must not be frightened mean two things. Firstly, they mean that we mustn't do anything likely to give children fears, and secondly, they want to keep out of their minds that they are born into a world of death, violence, wounds and evil (邪恶).C. S.Lewis says he agrees with the first reason, but not the second. He goes on to remark, “Since it is so likely that they will meet cruel enemies, let them at least hear of brave fighters and heroic courage. By limiting your child to perfect and nice stories of child life in which nothing alarming ever happens, they would fail to face fears and hardships.” “It would be nice,” he continues,“if no little boy in bed ever hears a frightening sound. But if he is to be frightened, I think St. George, or any bright hero in armor (盔甲), is a better comfort than the idea of the police.” Bruno Bettelheim, a well-known child psychologist, also points out that fantasy stories provide children with a valuable education about good and evil. He believes that all children have many personal fantasies filled with fears and fantasy stories comfort them and offer solutions. Happy endings tell them that solutions and hope are real and model the kind of happy life children want to find. A good fantasy suggests rather than teaches possible answers to life. It's believed that reading fantasies quickens the ability to get and put ideas from books to reality. It's what good literature does — it makes life larger. 5.According to paragraph 1, C.S.Lewis thinks that ______. A.It encourages children to have a lot of fantasies. B.It helps children overcome fears and find solutions. C.It teaches children to write their own fantasy stories. D.It gives children a happy memory when they grow up. 根据第三段中的“He believes that all children have many personal fantasies filled with fears and fantasy stories comfort them and offer solutions.” √ 8.It can be inferred from the text that ______. This active application ensures that the book leaves a lasting impact. 16 ____ The process of reading doesn't end when you turn the last page. Regularly revisiting your notes, summaries, and reflections keeps the material fresh and relevant.
