B.He has eaten all the food in the fridge. C.He doesn't cook by himself. D.The fridge has broken down. 1.How do you understand the English saying — you are what you eat? The food we eat impacts on our health directly. If we eat healthy food, we will be healthy, and we will be unhealthy if we constantly eat processed foods like junk food. Our food choices are often reflected in how we look too — our skin may not be clear or we may become overweight if we eat unhealthily. So eating freshly prepared local and seasonal foods is better for keeping us healthy and looking good. 2.Do you know of any Chinese sayings about food and health? What is your understanding of them in English? (Answers may vary.) It means what we eat has a great influence on our health. 1.I often end up saving part of my meal for the next day. 2.Cooking together gives us a chance to relax and catch up on each other's days. 3.I still don't think that anything can beat my mum's homemade sausages, though. [提能训练|完成句子] ①If you don't know what you want, you might ______________ _________ you don't want. ②I had a coffee date with Penny and we had a great time_______ _______________. end up getting something catching up on each other beats home cooking 1.I guess I've always been a big meat eater and in this house, no family meal is complete without some form of meat. 赏析:本句中的“no family meal ... meat”运用了双重否定结构“no ... without”来表示肯定意义。 2.There are five of us living in our shared student house. 赏析: 本句是there be句型,现在分词短语living in our shared student house作后置定语,修饰five of us,其中过去分词shared 作前置定语,修饰student house。 [提能训练] ①(完成句子)There are a lot of companies__________________. _______________________________ making this product No one will succeed without efforts. Once a week, we do a big shop and buy a lot of frozen food. [提能训练|翻译句子并体会借代的用法] ①The kettle is boiling. ________ ②Where did you buy this cotton? ______________________ 水开了。 A Many people who want to lose weight often choose to go on a diet. Shops have noticed this and are filling their shelves with diet products such as diet milkshakes, snack bars and even diet pills. However, such popular diets are often found to be very unhealthy. Most of these popular diets work by cutting out a certain nutrient (营养物) from your food intake (摄入量). However, by cutting a particular food group out of your diet, your body will be short of a certain nutrient that it needs, which could leave you feeling weak, tired or even bad-tempered. Furthermore, these diets are often unsuccessful in the long run. Generally, one of the effective ways to lose weight is to cut down on calories (卡路里). The recommended calorie intake for an adult male is 2,500 each day. If a man takes in more than 2,500 calories each day, then he is likely to gain weight. However, if he eats less, then he is likely to lose weight. More importantly, anyone who is going on a diet should keep a healthy balanced diet containing foods from all food groups. Nutrients such as proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals all play an important role in staying healthy, which is why they all should be included in your meals. Sometimes, you can eat some healthy snacks but don't eat too much. So, next time your friends tell you that they are going on a diet, let them know that eating a healthy balanced diet is a better choice. 1.What is the author's opinion about the popular diets in paragraph 1? A.They are welcomed by teenagers. B.They are found to be unhealthy. C.They are useful for losing weight. D.They are replacing people's daily meals. 根据第一段中“However, such popular diets are often found to be very unhealthy.” B。 √ 2.How much calorie intake is recommended to an adult male each day in this text? A.2,500. B.3,000. C.3,500. D.4,000. 根据第三段中“The recommended calorie intake for an adult male is 2,500 each day.” A。 √ 3.What advice should you give to your friends on a diet according to the text? A.Don't eat snacks. B.Avoid eating any meat or fats. C.Keep a healthy balanced diet. D.Stop losing weight immediately. 根据最后一段中“So, next time your friends tell you that they are going on a diet, let them know that eating a healthy balanced diet is a better choice.” C。 √ 4.In which part of a newspaper can you find this text? A.Travel. B.Health. C.Sport. D.Education. B。 √ B There is much debate nowadays as to what makes up a healthy diet. For example, scientists have thought for years that a big enemy of health is fatty food. However, there is increasing evidence (证据) that the real driver of poor health is not so much fatty food, as it is sugar. In America, people who receive 25% of their daily calories or more through sugar are twice as likely to die from heart disease than people who receive less than 10% a day. The American Heart Association recommends that we limit ourselves to less than 100-150 calories a day from sugar, which is less than what is usually contained in one can of sweet drink or in a single candy bar. Finally, a fundamental key to healthy eating is to eat slowly. It takes about twenty minutes from the time you start eating for your brain to tell your body that you are full. What this means is that people who chew too quickly end up eating too much food because they still feel hungry. Eating slowly also allows your body to digest your food better, and will allow you to enjoy your food more. In addition, studies show that consistent eating habits, for example, taking three meals a day at the same time each day, are better for our health. It is also better to eat a modest (适中的) amount of food each time, rather than to eat a lot in one meal, and then a little in the next. There is no trick to healthy eating. Rather, healthy eating starts with having a healthy attitude towards food. One question you can ask yourself is, “Do I eat to live, or live to eat?” If you are using food mostly for nutrition, then you are on the right track with your diet. However, if food has become the centre of your life, you might be on the road to bad health. It is up to you to decide how you want to live, and to make the right decisions about your diet. 5.What does the author tell the readers in paragraph 1? A.A warning. B.A common wrong opinion. C.The benefit of being healthy. D.The reason for being fat. √ 6.According to the author, what may eating too much sugar result in? A.Higher chance of getting fat. B.Better health. C.Increase in blood pressure. D.Chances of heart disease. 根据第一段中的“In America, people who receive 25% of their daily calories or more through sugar are twice as likely to die from heart disease than people who receive less than 10% a day.” √ 7.What does the author mean by saying “One question you can ask yourself is, ‘Do I eat to live, or live to eat?’” in the last paragraph? A.There is no other way to achieve a healthy diet. B.To eat healthily, you should make food the centre of your life. C.If you want to eat healthily, you need to have the right attitude. D.You should decide how you want to live and make the right decisions. 画线句上文“Rather, healthy eating starts with having a healthy attitude towards food.” 结合画线句和下文“If you are using food mostly for nutrition, then you are on the right track with your diet.” √ 8.What makes the best title for the text? A.Healthy Eating B.Attitudes to Food C.A Debate on Fatty Food D.Daily Diet 故选A项。 √ Ⅱ. The Power of Mindful Eating In our fast-paced world, many people eat quickly without paying attention to their food.______ Mindful eating, a practice based on mindfulness, encourages us to slow down and engage fully with the experience of eating. Research shows this approach not only improves digestion but also helps maintain a healthy weight. 9 Understand your hunger signs. Before reaching for snacks, ask yourself: Am I truly hungry, or just bored? ______ For example, emotional hunger comes suddenly and has a strong longing for particular foods, while physical hunger develops gradually and is open to various options. Learning to distinguish these signals can prevent overeating. Create a distraction-free environment. ______ These devices prevent us from noticing what we consume. Studies indicate that people who eat while distracted consume 10% more calories on average. By focusing on your meal, you'll notice flavors and textures better, leading to greater satisfaction. 10 11 ______ Aim for 20-30 chews per bite. This simple act allows your brain to register fullness signals, which take about 20 minutes to activate. Slowing down also reduces stress and improves digestion. To practice, try putting your fork down between bites or using chopsticks if you normally use a spoon. 12 Appreciate your food's journey. Consider the effort behind each ingredient — farmers growing vegetables, bakers making bread.______ This thankful thinking enhances mealtime enjoyment and reduces mindless consumption. Mindful eating isn't about strict diets but developing a healthier relationship with food. Start with one meal daily, and gradually you'll experience improved well-being both physically and mentally. 13 A.Chew thoroughly and eat slowly. B.Different hunger types require different responses. C.This habit often leads to overeating and poor nutrition. D.Thinking about this helps you feel closer to your food. E.Eat in a rush and don't worry about the number of chews. F.We'd better turn off TVs and put away phones during meals. G.Physical activities before meals can increase your appetite. 9.选C 根据上文“In our fast-paced world, many people eat quickly without paying attention to their food.” C项中“This habit”指代上文的“eat quickly without paying attention to their food”,符合语境。 10.选B 根据下文“For example, emotional hunger comes suddenly and has a strong longing for particular foods, while physical hunger develops gradually and is open to various options.” B项“Different hunger types require different responses.” 11.选F 该段主题是“Create a distraction-free environment.”以及下文 “These devices prevent us from noticing what we consume.” F项“We'd better turn off TVs and put away phones during meals.” 12.选A 该空是段落小标题,根据下文“Aim for 20-30 chews per bite. This simple ...improves digestion.” A项“Chew thoroughly and eat slowly.” 13.选D 该段主题是“Appreciate your food's journey.”,结合上文“Consider the effort behind each ingredient — farmers growing vegetables, bakers making bread.” D项“Thinking about this helps you feel closer to your food.”
