Qiu’s generation grew up during a time of rapid (迅速的) development in information technology. From a young age, they began using smartphones and social media.
“I got my first phone in Grade 3,” Qiu said. “I used it to listen to books like Harry Potter.” His parents trusted him to use the phone in the right way when he was very young.
With the rise of AI, Qiu started using AI tools to help with his studies. “I used AI to check and grade my English writing this summer,” he said. However, he also understands the problems of AI, such as fake images (假图像).
Since the “double reduction” policy (“双减”政策) came out to reduce the pressure on students, Qiu’s school sets up fun after-school activities. Still, he feels the competition among his classmates as many of them attend extracurricular (课外的) classes. “The extracurricular classes I take, like programming, are more for fun, so I’m not very stressed,” Qiu said.
