仔细识别信号词:because/so表因果;but/however表转折。

Leaf-made Paper
Paper is one of the basic products of the modern world. From books to toilet paper, everyone uses paper in daily life.However,40%of the 15 billion trees are cut down to produce paper every year.More importantly, the traditional paper-making process uses lots of water and gives off harmful gases, which causes serious air pollution.
What did Releaf Paper discover to replace wood?
This is where Releaf Paper comes in.The company has found a green way to make environmentally friendly paper.Instead of using wood,it uses leaves to produce paper, which helps save millions of trees every year. The company was set up by Valentyn Frechka, who has always been interested in biochemistry. It led him to explore new paper-making methods. He first tried making paper from grass but failed, then he turned to leaves and finally achieved great success.
___________1______
Some European cities collect fallen leaves from their streets and parks and send them to Releaf Paper. Then, using mechanical and chemical processes, the company turns the leaves into paper. The new processes use 15 times less water and cause less air pollution than the traditional paper producing model.
Why is the process of leaf-made paper greener?
The leaf-made paper is eco-friendly.It helps protect the forest ecosystem and save water.Frechka said they only use leaves from cities, not forests, because collecting leaves in forests is difficult and will destroy the ecosystem. They get leaves for paper and return lignin to the cities. It's like a win-win model.
How will Releaf Paper develop in the future?
Releaf Paper doesn't want to stop their progress. They hope to spread their technology to more countries. They are working hard to improve their technology. In this way, more trees will be saved, less water will be wasted, and our planet will become greener and cleaner.

The Secret Language of Whales
Whales are known for their complex vocalizations, often called"whale songs."These sounds travel for hundreds of miles underwater and play a crucial role in whale communication.___________1______Scientists have been studying these mysterious sounds for decades.
What do whale songs actually sound like?
Whale songs are not random noises. They consist of structured patterns of clicks, whistles, and prolonged calls. Each song can last for hours and be repeated multiple times.Interestingly, whale populations in different oceans have distinct"dialects"—their songs vary by region.
___________2______
Researchers use underwater microphones called hydrophones to record whale vocalizations.By analyzing the frequency, duration, and patterns of these sounds, scientists can identify different species and even individual whales.Advanced computer algorithms now help process the massive amounts of data collected from ocean listening stations.
Why do whales sing?
Scientists believe whale songs serve multiple purposes.___________3______Male humpback whales, for example, sing complex songs during breeding season, likely to attract females.Whales also use sounds to coordinate group hunting and to navigate in dark ocean depths. Some researchers suggest that whale songs may even express emotions.

Self-Healing Concrete
Concrete is the most widely used building material in the world. From bridges to skyscrapers,it forms the backbone of modern infrastructure.___________1_____More importantly, concrete develops cracks over time, which can lead to costly repairs and even structural failure.
What innovation is solving this problem?
This is where self-healing concrete comes in.Scientists have developed a new type of concrete that can repair its own cracks without human intervention.__________2____The research team behind this breakthrough spent over a decade studying bacteria that naturally produce limestone.

仔细识别信号词:because/so表因果;but/however表转折。
