阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Asad was a 13-year-old boy who was very honest and hardworking. Recently, he had entered a new school, so he had no friends yet. One day, he wanted to buy something to eat, only to find that he forgot his money at home.
Not knowing what to do, he walked out of the classroom and sat on a bench (板凳) in front of the canteen. He saw a few of his classmates there, among them was Fahad. He was one of the richest kids in his class, but he was a very arrogant (傲慢的) boy who thought everyone else was a loser. But as Asad was new, he didn’t know much about Fahad.
When he went towards Fahad and asked if he could borrow some money for his lunch, Fahad laughed a lot and said, “I knew you were a loser, maybe a beggar (乞丐)?” Fahad laughed out so loud that other kids also heard and made fun of the situation. He didn’t answer Fahad, and slowly walked back towards an empty bench.
When he reached the bench, he noticed something lying near it. It was a wallet (钱包). He picked it up and recognized it as Fahad’s, because he remembered Fahad showing it to his friends and telling that his uncle bought it for him from the UK. There was quite a lot of money inside for a kid.

【答案】示范一
At first, Asad wanted to keep it a secret and punished Fahad. His hands trembled as he held the wallet, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts. “Fahad was so cruel to me. He deserves to learn a lesson,” he thought. But then, his conscience pricked him. “What if this were my wallet? How would I feel?” he mused. After a long, hard battle within himself, he took a deep breath and walked towards Fahad. “Fahad, I found your wallet,” he said, his voice a bit shaky but determined.
Then Fahad said, “Why are you giving back?” Asad looked straight into his eyes and replied, “Because it’s the right thing to do. I believe in honesty, even when it’s tough.” Fahad was stunned. He had never expected this. A wave of shame washed over him. “I’m really sorry for how I treated you,” he said sincerely. From that moment on, Fahad made a conscious effort to change. He started being kind to everyone, and he and Asad became inseparable friends, all thanks to Asad’s unwavering honesty.示范二
At first, Asad wanted to keep it a secret and punished Fahad. He stared at the wallet, a mix of anger and temptation in his heart. “This could teach him a lesson about being arrogant,” he muttered. But as he thought about it more, he remembered his parents’ teachings about honesty. “I can’t stoop to his level,” he decided. With a resolute look, he walked up to Fahad. “Here’s your wallet,” he said firmly.
Then Fahad said, “Why are you giving back?” Asad answered, “Honesty is more important than revenge. I know you might not respect me, but I respect myself enough to do the right thing.” Fahad was taken aback. For the first time, he saw the error of his ways. “I was wrong. I’m sorry,” he said sheepishly. From then on, Fahad’s attitude transformed completely. He and Asad became good friends, and Asad’s honesty had not only won him a friend but also a new-found respect in the class.

Passage 2

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Peter woke up early in the morning. He went downstairs in a hurry and started to have hisbreakfast as quickly as possible.
“Why are you in such a hurry, early bird?" Mum asked him. “We will have an English spelling test today, Mum," Peter said. “Mr. White promised to offer prizes to those who get 100 scores. I've been studying the word list since last week. Although the words are difficult, I am well prepared for them.”
Peter reviewed the spelling of each word once more carefully when Dad drove down.
Thirty words later, the test papers were collected by Mr. White. “I am to mark your papers now," he told the class. After marking the test papers, Mr. White said, “Three of you won a prize today for excellent test scores. Peter. David and Mary got 100 percent on the spelling test!" Mr. White praised them. Meanwhile, he gave the three students each a dictionary. Peter's was an English-Chinese dictionary—the one he liked best. Peter was so excited that he held it high when his classmates cheered. "This is my happiest moment,” Peter thought.
After Mr. White gave the test paper back, Peter had a look at the words, feeling proud of his spelling. All of a sudden, the word “contribution" confused him. It didn't seem right. Peter began to compare them after taking out the wordlist. “C-o-n-t-r-i-b-u-s-i-o-n,”he whispered. He had spelledit wrong.
“What am I to do?” Peter said to himself. “I expect my classmates to think I'm a master in spelling. If I tell Mr. White one of my spelling words is wrong, I'll have to give my prize back, or I will become an example for telling a lie". Staring at the red sign “100%” which was written at his test paper, Peter was lost in thought. After a while, he remembered a lesson Mum used to teach him, “We ought to be an honest person.”

Passage 3
(24-25学年高一下·四川省天立集团·期中)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
“Mommy, don’t go,” my threeyearold son screamed as I walked to the door. My fifteenyearold leaned against the kitchen counter with his arms folded across his chest, not screaming, but glaring at me as I pulled his little brother off my legs.
“Are you mad at me too?”
“You spend all your time taking care of other people’s kids, but what about us?” Dylan left angrily.
I was shocked and a little hurt. How could my own child not understand that the work I was doing was saving lives? Then the answer hit me. He didn’t know, because he had never seen what Healing the Children actually did. Dylan had heard the stories of sick children, but had never once looked into the eyes of a child and understood the hard truth—that without our help, the children would likely die.
“Get dressed. You are going with me,” I said.
I spent the drive explaining the case of Hector to my son, who pretended to ignore me the entire time. “He’s seven, only weighs thirty pounds and is very sick. He has a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, which could kill him. It is a miracle (奇迹) that he is still alive.”
I went on to explain that it took a team of volunteer medical staff to get Hector to the hospital from his remote village and care for him while he was there. Still, Dylan seemed unimpressed.
We stopped at a convenience store for water and snacks. Dylan had one large and one small Slurpee (思乐冰饮料). He said the small one was for Hector. I doubted whether the little guy would be able to drink it, but remained silent. This was the first interest Dylan had shown in being there. I wasn’t about to ruin it.
I stopped at the nurses’ station to check on Hector’s progress while Dylan went to his room. Our patient was recovering physically, but the nurse was concerned that Hector was struggling emotionally. She said, “Kids usually bounce back fast, but he hardly speaks and never smiles.”
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
Imagine my surprise when I heard laughter from Hector’s room
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
On the way home that night, Dylan asked me several times whether Hector would be okay.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Para. 1:
Imagine my surprise when I heard laughter from Hector’s room. I entered and found Dylan sitting on the edge of Hector’s bed wiping pieces of frozen drink from Hector’s mouth. Both boys were giggling and Hector was apparently enjoying the company. I spent the rest of the day speaking to doctors and watching my son playing with the special little boy. It was truly amazing to watch them interact, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Perhaps to the two of them it was.
Para. 2:
On the way home that night, Dylan asked me several times whether Hector would be okay. I told him this boy would get well but he had a hard road ahead of him. My son seemed to be lost in thought for a while. Then he declared his decision to join Healing the Children as a volunteer to help Hector and other children. I never thought that a moody teenager would take up the voluntary work and never again complain about his mother’s crazy work schedule.

The boys in the block were going to have a roller-skating (滑旱冰) race next Saturday. They were divided into two teams: the Sunnysiders and the Shadysiders, with five boys on each team. Andy was on the Sunnysiders. They lost last year, so they were desperate to win this time. But Andy knew his short legs made it hard for him to skate fast.
One day, Andy was greeted by a pleasant “Hello” as he was putting on his roller-skates. He looked up and saw his new neighbor, Francis. “Hello! ” he replied cheerfully, noticing his neighbor’s long legs. “Wanna skate with me? Look at your long legs! Just the right kind to make you a good skater.” “I’d love to. You know, I’m really good at roller skating and I used to help my team win.” Francis said, his tone now heavy with sadness. “But I lost my roller skates and my mom just cannot afford to buy me another pair.”
Andy thought it was a shame for Francis. As a new comer, there were undoubtedly many moments when he must have felt lonely. Andy thought to himself, wondering what he could do for Francis. But he had to say goodbye in a hurry since the team were meeting in the open space on the corner to talk over some plans.
When talking to the team captain, Andy suggested adding another boy to their team, Francis. But the captain said “No” as the team knew nothing about him. Besides, the Shadysiders wouldn’t let them take on an extra player.
In the following days, Andy practiced very hard with his team. Then came the day before the race when he saw Francis on the sidewalk, watching them skate past, his eyes filled with a sense of loss. Somehow it upset Andy, and his desire to help his new neighbor resurfaced. Then he thought of a way that could not only help his team win, but help Francis fit in.

Noticing that, Andy explained that having him on their team would not only boost their chances of winning but also help him make more friends. Eventually, Francis put on the roller-skates and skated around, his talent instantly impressing the captain who was nearby. Struck by Francis’ excellent skills, the captain agreed to include the new boy. At that moment, Andy felt a touch of emptiness for giving up his own chance, but a surge of excitement for the plan as well.
The next day, the race began as scheduled. Francis, wearing Andy’s skates, stood at the starting line, looking determined, while Andy, from the sidelines, felt a mix of anticipation and nervousness. The race was intense, but Francis’ excellent skating skills helped the Sunnysiders finally win the race. Once the race was finished, Francis, now part of the team, skated over to Andy with the others. Together, they lifted Andy onto their shoulders, celebrating not just the victory but also the newfound friendships. Cheers filled the air, and Andy experienced a swell of pride and a profound sense of accomplishment for the success of his friend and the team.

It was a cold, seemingly endless winter. Blankets of snow put the rest of the town in obscurity (模糊), and only the tops of tall steeples (塔尖) were visible. Snow and rain fell heavily, almost as if to escape the sky. The thick dove gray clouds blocked out any trace of dim sunlight from above.
The town’s railway station was once a piece of architectural brilliance and recognized among other cities. However, time weathered it, and it was not as glorious as before.
The whole station was infestive (节日的) mood during this time of year, as it contrasted well with the countless decorations of red and green that hung all over the place. The simple joys of the holiday season almost made up for the disagreeable winter. Despite the winter, the station was a hive of activity, with the footsteps of busy travelers; busy to get home for New Year.
A young boy sat on a stiff wooden bench. He had curly blonde hair that reached his eyebrows and was dressed in a gray jacket and shiny black pants. His eyes, however, were almost difficult for one to look at, for they held a sadness far beyond what a boy his age would usually tolerate. For the boy had no home to go to this New Year.
The passers-by paid no attention to him, as they bustles around the platform. Merry voices could be heard, but the boy just sat there in silence, lonely as a single star in the sky. He just sat there. After a while, the station became quieter, until only the presence of few could be seen. Still, the boy sat. “We wish you a Merry New Year…” From a distance, a chorus of voices singing carols (颂歌) could be heard.

【答案】范文
Kindly, a group of singing girls approached the boy. He looked up. Among them, a girl with a gentle smile offered him a steaming cup of cocoa, whose warmth seeped through his fingers. “Would you like to join us?” she asked softly, her voice carrying the promise of friendship. A smile broke out on the boy’s face, as warm as a summer day. Standing up, “Thank you”, he said, sincerely. His voice contained hesitancy, but there was a feeling of hope.
As he sang along with the girls, the station transformed around him. It was no longer a place of sadness but a beacon of hope. The night grew warmer, not from the weak lamp or the cocoa, but from the kindness of strangers that wrapped around him like a much-needed embrace. In that moment, he found a home, if not in a physical place, then in the hearts of those who chose to see and care. And as the clock struck midnight, ushering in the New Year, the boy knew he wasn’t alone anymore.

One sunny day, Alex, a young boy, was walking home from school when he noticed something unusual. A small, scruffy (邋遢的) dog was sitting alone by the side of the road, its eyes full of fear and confusion. The poor dog looked lost and hungry. Alex felt a sense of empathy (同情) in his heart as he walked towards the dog slowly, offering it a piece of his sandwich.
The moment the dog cautiously took the food from his hand, Alex’s heart melted. He could see that the dog was alone and scared, and he knew he couldn’t just leave it there. Without a second thought, Alex decided to take the dog home. He carefully hid the dog in the garage, hoping his father wouldn’t find out.
For days, Alex spent all his spare time in the garage, playing with the dog. He named the dog Max, and they quickly became close friends. Their bond grew stronger day by day as they shared countless adventures together. Max brought so much joy into Alex’s life.
One day, Alex’s father discovered their secret. He was surprised and told the boy to put Max back on the street, thinking it was for the best. With a heavy heart, Alex did as he was told. He left Max at the park, hoping that someone else would find him and give him a loving home. But as he walked away, his heart ached with sadness, tears welling up in his eyes.
Alex was heartbroken. He missed Max terribly and found it hard to focus on anything else. His grades started to slip (下滑), and he became quiet and silent. His usual cheerfulness had disappeared, replaced by deep sadness that seemed to swallow him whole. Seeing this, his father realized how much Max meant to Alex.

【答案】The father decided to bring Max back. He went to extraordinary lengths to search for the dog in the nearby blocks but in vain. It suddenly crossed his mind that maybe Max would have returned to the park. He breathed a sigh of relief the moment he saw Max wandering in the park. The setting sun cast an orange glow over them. Exhausted but joyful, the father brought Max home. At the sight of Max, so amazed was Alex that he rushed forward, knelt down and hugged Max tight, his eyes twinkling with excitement. From then on, Max became an integral part of their family.
The boy took full responsibility for Max. Tiring as feeding, bathing and walking Max were, he gained a great sense of accomplishment from these puppy care chores. The days of Max’s company witnessed Alex’s heartier laughter and gradual academic progress. It dawned on the father that Max helped Alex build confidence and taught him about responsibility and compassion. Had it not been for this experience, Alex would have never known the bond between humans and animals is built on love, trust and mutual respect, enriching both lives.

The science teacher, Mr. Moose, decided that the school would have a paper airplane contest (比赛). Each student would design a paper airplane. And then they would take turns throwing their airplanes. The student whose airplane flew the farthest would win.
When Mr. Moose announced the paper airplane contest, all the students were very excited. Paul, who was on the wrestling (摔跤) team, said to other students. “I am the strongest. And I will be able to throw my airplane the farthest.”
However, another student, Brian, was thinking how he could win. He did not play any sports and was not very strong. But he loved airplanes and really wanted to win the contest.
Brian knew what he had to do. He went to the store and bought a big pile of paper. When he got home, he took the paper into the backyard. He took a piece of paper and folded (折叠) an airplane. It didn’t go very far, so Brian took another piece and folded another airplane and threw it. This airplane went a little farther. Brian kept folding different kinds of airplanes and throwing them. Some went very far and some did not. Finally, when Brian had used all the paper, he walked up to the airplane that had flown the farthest and picked it up.

【答案】 The contest day arrived in the end and all the students gathered on the playground. Finally, it was Brian’s turn. He held the plane that he had folded the day before. It began to fly, farther and farther, until it landed 5 feet farther than Paul’s plane. The whole school cheered and were very happy. Brian won the contest. Mr. Moose awarded him a great prize: a toy airplane.
Excitedly, Brian got the prize from Mr. Moose’s hand and all the students clapped their hands for him. Brian won the contest because he had tried his best many times to solve the problem on how to make a plane fly farther. He made it by testing out many different designs and compare the results. When he found the best way to fly the farthest, he knew he succeeded.

Running Towards Growth
As a shy high-school freshman, just thinking about joining any school activity made me really nervous. I liked staying in my comfort zone, away from being noticed and the stress on performing in front of others. One normal day, when I was walking in the school corridor without a plan, a colorful poster about the school long-distance running team suddenly caught my eye. I was like something was pulling me to try. Even though I knew I wasn’t good at running, I got a strong feeling inside and decided to give it a go.
The first training was a disaster. As soon as the whistle blew, I had a hard time keeping up with the others. My legs felt so heavy, and I was breathing hard, I quickly fell behind, gasping for air, while my classmates ran ahead easily. I really wanted to give up, and my will to keep going was getting weak. Just when I was about to slow down, the coach, who had seen me struggling, came over to me. He put his hand on my shoulder and said, “Don’t worry, it’s just the start. Everyone has their own speed. Keep going at your own pace.” His words made me feel better. With new determination, I managed to finish the training, though it was really tough.
During the following days and weeks of training, I faced many big problems. Some cold mornings, the wind was blowing hard outside my window, and my warm bed was so tempting. Getting out of bed felt almost impossible. On other days, my legs hurt a lot from the day before, and every step was a reminder of the pain. But every time I wanted to quit, I would remember what the coach said. His belief in me gave me the strength to keep going.注意:1.续写词数应为150词左右;

【答案】 When the school announced a district-level running competition, my teammates were excited, but I was filled with self-doubt. I kept thinking about how I wasn’t as fast as them and how I might let the team down. However, the coach noticed my hesitation. He pulled me aside and said, “You’ve come a long way. Remember, it’s not just about winning; it’s about showing how much you’ve grown. Believe in yourself.” His words encouraged me to overcome my fear and accept the challenge. I decided to give it my all, no matter the outcome.
On the competition day, I started steadily. As the race went on, I could hear the cheers from my teammates and the coach, which gave me an extra boost of energy. I focused on my own pace, just like the coach had told me. Gradually, I found myself passing other runners. With every step, I felt stronger and more confident. When I crossed the finish line, I couldn’t believe I had done it. I had not only completed the race but also run faster than I ever had before. The feeling of achievement was overwhelming. I realized that through all the struggles and hard work, I had grown into a stronger and more confident runner.

Mom’s Decision to Spend More Time with Son
One sunny afternoon, young Timmy sat on the front steps of their cozy house, his chin (下巴) resting on his hands, eyes fixed on the street. His friends were playing in the park across the road, their laughter filling the air, but Timmy didn’t join them. He was waiting for his mom to come home.
Timmy’s mom, Mrs. Thompson, was a hard-working real estate agent (房地产经纪人). She was constantly on the go, showing houses to clients, attending meetings, and working late into the night. Most days, Timmy only saw her in the early morning rush before school or briefly in the evening when she was too tired to do much more than give him a quick hug.
That day, when Mrs. Thompson finally pulled up in her car, she noticed Timmy’s sad expression. As she got out of the car, Timmy ran up to her, his eyes lighting up for a moment. “Mom, can we play a game today? Like we used to?” he asked hopefully. Mrs. Thompson looked at her watch and sighed. “Not today, honey. I have so much work to do. Maybe tomorrow.” Timmy’s shoulders slumped, and he quietly walked back to the steps.
That evening, as Mrs. Thompson sat at her desk, going through piles of paperwork, she couldn’t get Timmy’s disappointed face out of her mind. She realized that she had been so focused on her career that she was missing out on her son’s childhood. After much thought, she made a decision. She would take some time off work to be with Timmy.
The next morning, Mrs. Thompson called her boss and explained the situation. To her relief, her boss was understanding and gave her a week off. She then went to Timmy’s room with a big smile on her face.

【答案】 She said, “Timmy, I’m going to take a whole week off work, just for us!” Timmy’s eyes widened in surprise and excitement. He jumped out of bed and hugged his mom tightly. “Really, Mom? That’s amazing!” They spent the morning planning all the things they would do together. They decided to go to the zoo first. As they drove to the zoo, Timmy chatted non-stop, his face glowing with happiness. Upon arrival, they rushed towards the panda enclosure, where they watched in awe as the cute pandas munched on bamboo. Timmy laughed out loud when one panda rolled over like a clumsy ball. Mrs. Thompson photographed these precious moments, feeling a sense of contentment she hadn’t experienced in a long time.
However, just as they were playing, Mrs. Thompson’s phone rang. It was one of her most important clients. The client had an urgent question about a house they were interested in buying. Mrs. Thompson hesitated for a moment. Looking at Timmy’s excited face, she made a choice. She silenced her phone and put it back in her bag. She turned to Timmy and said, “Nothing is more important than this time with you, Timmy.” They spent the rest of the day at the zoo, exploring every corner, and even had a picnic lunch on the grass. By the end of the day, both Timmy and Mrs. Thompson were tired but filled with joy.

Lorena parted the curtain in her living room and looked out onto the wet street. She was relieved the sunlight appeared. If it didn't stop raining it would ruin her day. Her mother had promised to drive her to Fashion Fair if it were sunny. Lorena was eager to go there because she had to replace a Nike jacket.
Earlier that Wednesday afternoon, Eddie, the most popular seventh-grader, had given Lorena his jacket and asked her to keep an eye as he would play basketball in a hurry. Lorena was quite happy to be of help.
During her last class, the biology teacher made them cut apart dead frogs. For fear of getting blood on Eddie's jacket, Lorena folded it and placed it on a chair. Then she took the knife and cut the skin quickly. She felt sick opening the frog's belly.
When the bell rang Lorena hurried out because the bus she caught for home left ten minutes after school. She raced to board the bus and found a seat. After a few minutes the driver started the engine and drove away when Lorena looked out of the window and saw Eddie. "The jacket!" she screamed. She shot from her seat and ran up to the driver. "You've got to stop! I forgot Eddie's jacket!" "Who's Eddie? " the driver said angrily. "Sit down."
All that evening she was upset and blamed her biology teacher for her problem. If he hadn't made them dissect(解剖) frogs, ,she wouldn't have been so absent-minded. The next day Lorena rushed from the bus to the biology room. The jacket was not there!
"How can I ever tell Eddie?" she closed her eyes. She spent most of her break and lunch period in the rest room, brushing her hair and worrying. On Friday she stayed home to avoid Eddie. She told her mother she wanted to go shopping to buy her a gift for her birthday, which was the next week. Actually, she wanted to buy a Nike jacket with her life savings at Fashion Fair.

【答案】Paragragh 1
Mom drove Lorena to Fashion Fair and left, asking her not to waste money. Lorena promised and ran in. Stopping at a rack of Nike jackets, she wondered what size Eddie wore. She tried one on and found the sleeves coming down over her hands. She felt it must be the size. She walked to the cash register and paid the money. She was overjoyed to have settled the problem. Then she headed for the perfume department to buy a gift for Mom. It was too bad she didn’t have enough money.
Paragragh 2
Lorena was about to leave when she saw Eddie in his Nike jacket. With a tight face, Eddie scolded Lorena why she had left his jacket in the biology room. “I thought we could be friends.” he complained. “I can explain.” Lorena begged. “You’re of no help at all.” Eddie rushed off. “What the hell’s going on?” Lorena wondered. Realizing some people could never be friends, she wiped her eyes, returned the jacket, bought Mom some cheese instead of the romantic perfume and went home.

Jenny was a quiet 15-year-old girl who loved painting more than anything else. Every afternoon after school, she would hurry to her small attic room and paint for hours. ‘Her sketchbook was filled with beautiful drawings — fields of sunflowers, rainy city streets, and smiling faces. But Jenny never showed her work to anyone except her best friend Lily.
When Ms. Wilson, the art teacher, announced the annual school art contest, all the students got excited. The winner’s painting would be displayed in the town’s Youth Art Gallery for a whole month. “You have to enter!” Lily said excitedly. “Your sunflower painting is perfect for this!” Jenny shook her head nervously. “What if people laugh at my work? What if I fail?”
For days, Jenny watched as her classmates prepared their contest entries. Some painted colorful abstract designs, and others created realistic portraits. Jenny’s sketchbook remained closed. Then one rainy afternoon, as she walked home from school, she noticed an old man painting by the riverbank. His watercolors flowed freely across the paper, imperfect but full of life.
“May I watch?” Jenny asked shyly. The old man smiled. “Of course! Art should be shared, not hidden away.” He pointed to her backpack where her sketchbook peeked out. “You’re an artist too, I see.” Jenny hesitated, then slowly showed him her sunflower painting. “It’s… not very good,” she murmured.
The old man studied it carefully. “This painting speaks with honesty,” he said finally. “That’s what makes it special.” His words stayed with Jenny all evening. The next morning, she carefully rolled up her sunflower painting and handed it to Ms. Wilson just before the contest deadline.

【答案】范文
The day of the exhibition arrived, and Jenny stood nervously in front of her sunflower painting when some visitors stopped with great interest. A little girl smiled and pointed at her artwork. “Mommy, look! The sunflowers look so happy!” she exclaimed. An elderly lady said, “This reminds me of my childhood garden.” Ms. Wilson, noticing the crowd, came over and whispered, “See? Your art speaks to people’s hearts.” Jenny felt her cheeks grew warm as more visitors gathered around her painting. She realized that sharing her work wasn’t about being perfect—it was about connecting with others.
Two weeks later, Jenny was cleaning her brushes when Ms. Wilson happily came looking for her with an envelope in her hand. “This came for you from the gallery,” she said, her eyes twinkling. Inside was a letter inviting Jenny to display three more paintings in a special student exhibition. That afternoon, Jenny rushed to the riverbank to tell the old man the news and they celebrated it cheerfully together. It’s true that art should be shared rather than hidden away. Jenny knew then that she would never hide her art again.

(24-25学年高一下·四川省泸州市龙马潭区田家炳名校联考·期中)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Last Saturday, I drove back home from a long hard day. It was snowing heavily and the traffic inched slowly forward like snails. I was so hungry because I skipped my lunch that I decided to stop by KFC and had a quick bite before I continued my journey home. It took me a long time to find a place to park my car. With my face buried in my collar, I walked slowly in the snow. Soon my hands were numb(麻木) with cold, so I pulled my gloves out of my coat pocket and put them on.
I ordered some fried chicken and dug into my pocket for my wallet to pay, only to find it was not there! I remembered I did bring it with me before I set out. Embarrassed, I left the chicken on the counter and said I would return in a minute. Deeply worried, I got out of KFC and ran towards my car, wondering where my wallet, with everything in it, was.
Fresh snow was like a blank paper, recording my tracks. My attention fixed on the ground, I expected to find it on my way. Unfortunately, what I found was only the shape of it in the snow. Obviously, I lost it when I pulled my gloves out. Judging from the footprints on the ground, I was not the only one. There was someone else joining my way. But the footprints of this guy were messy. It seemed that he walked back and forth. My heart sank. At a loss of which way he went, I knew I could never claim my wallet back. Bye, fried chicken, not today. I walked towards my car helplessly.
A short, skinny man was standing by my car. He seemed like homeless because he was dressed in oversized worn-out coat and his face was dirty. He was stamping his feet to keep warm. I felt sorry for him because I had nothing to help him, no money, no food.

【答案】The man noticed me and asked if this was my car. Surprised as I was, I nodded, waiting for what he was going to say. He seemed excited, directly coming closer and quickly taking out a wallet, which I knew was mine at the first glance. I couldn’t stop staring at the surprising packet. I knew I wouldn’t say goodbye to my fried chicken today. But first, I need show my sincere gratitude to the good soul, who must have stayed in the cold for long just to find the owner. I opened my wallet, pulled out two banknotes and delivered to him as my thankfulness. However, he just smiled, shaking his head.
Refusing my money, he was about to leave. Seeing him disappearing in the distance gradually, I finally made up my mind to stop him and asked him to wait a minute. I grabbed the money, rushed to the counter and ordered two fried chickens. On heading back, I slipped the package into his hand, inviting him to enjoy the food together. Passage 3
(24-25学年高一下·四川省泸州市泸县·期中)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
At a noisy train station, a young couple boarded a train with their one-year-old son. The child, already battling a fever at home, was further unsettled by the motion of the train and the unfamiliar environment. His discomfort made him cry loudly. The noise filled the carriage (客车厢), breaking the quietness that most travelers had found in their books or the peaceful landscape passing by the windows.
Among the passengers was a businessman, seated next to the family, who had been looking forward to a peaceful rest to make up for a sleepless night. The child’s continuous crying disrupted (打乱) his plans, and his annoyance became obvious.
The young mother, with an apologetic smile, tried to rock her son back to calm, softly whispering endearments into his tiny ear. The father, with a helpless look at the surrounding passengers, turned to the visibly annoyed man. “We apologize for the disturbance,” he said. “Our boy has fallen ill, and the motion of the train is not helping matters.”
Upon hearing this, the businessman’s annoyance softened. He had a nephew (外甥) around the same age and understood the challenges of traveling with a sick child. His anger died away, replaced by a wave of understanding. “Don’t worry,” he replied, his voice gentle, “I can try to help.”
He reached into his bag and took out a small wooden rattle (拨浪鼓), a gift for his own nephew. Then he offered a gentle hand to the little boy. He tried to make soft sounds with the wooden rattle, together with making funny faces, trying to distract (使分心) the child from his discomfort. To everyone’s surprise, the little boy’s tears began to stop as the rattle’s gentle sound caught his attention. Soon, he was attracted by the toy. The mother’s relief was evident as she offered a silent, heartfelt “thank you” to the man.

【答案】参考范文:
Then the atmosphere in the carriage began to change. Other passengers, who had been quietly observing the situation, were inspired to lend a hand. A young woman with a kind smile offered to share her sketchbook, offering to draw pictures to entertain the child. And a conductor brought more toys from the children’s kit. A group of students traveling together played a soft, comforting music with the guitar to calm the little boy. The once-annoyed passengers had transformed into a caring community, and their collective efforts made a difference to the young family who were struggling.
With the shared care of the passengers, the little boy eventually went into a peaceful sleep. The young couple, touched by the unexpected kindness, felt a profound sense of gratitude and warmth. They exchanged heartfelt smiles with these kind strangers. As the train pulled into its destination station, they shared warm farewells. The passengers were getting off the train with smiles and expressing good wishes for the young family. The young couple, carrying their now sleeping son, stepped off the train with a renewed hope and a story to tell about the kindness of strangers.

It was a sunny day. Anabia, an 11-year-old girl, was excited because today was the drawing contest at her school. Anabia was really good at drawing and usually got the highest marks in art. Her teachers would often ask her to make posters for school plays and call on her during free periods to help with cuttings, drawing, shading, colouring and much more. There was an art competition taking place in school and Anabia had worked really hard and wanted to win it. But there was one thing that was disturbing her today.
Recently, a new girl, Rida, had joined her class. She was also interested in art but she was not as good at drawing as Anabia was. Miss Saima, the art teacher, helped Rida and taught her tips and tricks to improve her drawing skill. And now Rida was also considered among the best artists in grade six.
Rida was quick, smart and intelligent. Anabia became jealous of Rida’s intelligence and felt that the new girl would be tough to beat.
So that day, for the art competition, Miss Saima took all the students to the art room, told them their roll numbers and gave important instructions. Anabia’s roll number was 16, while Rida was number 17. The bell rang, indicating the beginning of the contest. Miss Saima wrote on the board: make a scene of a sunset with a flowing river and a sailing boat.
Anabia knew that the best tools to make a sunset were oil pastels (油画棒). Anabia started to look for her oil pastels in her art bag. Then, after looking through the bag, she remembered that she had left them at home. Immediately, she got up to tell Miss Saima.
Miss Saima was disappointed at Anabia’s carelessness and told her that she could not help her, as it was her responsibility to come prepared for the contest that had been announced a week in advance. Anabia’s best friends were also there, but none of them offered to share anything, much to Anabia’s surprise and disappointment.

During the following days and weeks of training, I faced many big problems. Some cold mornings, the wind was blowing hard outside my window, and my warm bed was so tempting. Getting out of bed felt almost impossible. On other days, my legs hurt a lot from the day before, and every step was a reminder of the pain. But every time I wanted to quit, I would remember what the coach said. His belief in me gave me the strength to keep going.注意:1.续写词数应为150词左右;
