Passage 1
(2025·新疆维吾尔族自治区·中考)
根据短文内容,判断下面各小题的正(T)误(F)。
An elephant and her baby were alone in the forest. They had to leave their family, for the little baby was too small to keep up with the other big elephants.
Whenever the mother looked at the sweet, little baby elephant, she would say, “As long as you are small, I shall do anything to protect you and take care of you. When you are big, you will have to fight for yourself. You will have to be very careful if you want to reach your full size.”
In the day, when she saw him pick up some leaves with his trunk (象鼻) and put them into his mouth, she was pleased. When they met other big animals, she would cry angrily and guard him. In the night, she stood close to him until morning, for she knew a lion might be near.
As time went by, the baby elephant grew big enough to follow his mother and then they met the other big elephants. They returned to their family!
At last, they came to a beautiful river. There they lived a happy life together.
1.The mother elephant and her baby were in the forest with their family.
2.The mother elephant would try her best to protect her baby.
3.When the baby elephant is big, he has to fight for himself.
4.In the night, the mother elephant stood far from her baby.

For a few thousand years, bamboo has been used to make food, houses, paper and even musical instruments. Now, bamboo has a new role—replacing (代替) plastic!
Every year, the world creates about 400 million tons of plastic waste. In order to solve the problem, many places in China have used bamboo as an environmentally friendly replacement.
Bamboo grows really fast. While trees take more than 10 years to grow big, bamboo only needs 4 to 6 years. This means people can have many bamboos without having to plant new ones.
Now, more bamboo products are popular in the markets, restaurants and hotels. In markets, bamboo products can be seen more often. They are made into baskets, chairs and even toys for children. Plastic bags have also been replaced by bags made from 60% bamboo powder (粉末).These bamboo-based bags can break down (分解) within three months and yet they are stronger than plastic bags. Bamboo-made tableware (餐具) is used in more and more restaurants and hotels.
Using bamboo instead of plastic helps our society a lot.
6.Bamboo has a new role—replacing plastic.
7.Bamboo needs more years to grow big than trees.
8.Bamboo products can be seen in the markets, restaurants and hotels.
9.Plastic bags are stronger than bamboo-based bags.
10.Bamboo products are friendly to the environment.

Passage 1
(2025·海南省·中考)
My mom works hard. She takes care of me and my young sister. Every day when she gets home from work, she makes dinner for us.
One day, I decided to help my mom. She’s always taking care of us, so I thought, “It’s about time I do something for her too. I’m nine years old.”
I decided to cook dinner for her. I don’t know a lot about cooking. But it doesn’t look that difficult. Noodles are easy to cook. All you do is to boil water, add the noodles and continue boiling. This was how I saw my mom doing it.
I was really excited. “Today, when Mom comes home, dinner will be cooked. We will sit down and eat some delicious noodles,” I said to myself.
After school, I ran home quickly and started cooking. I boiled the water on the stove (炉子) and then added the noodles. I was very careful. I cooked the noodles for a long time.
It can’t hurt, right?
Just before Mom got home, I turned off the stove. The noodles were not like the kind my mom usually makes. They were very mushy. They were more like a soup.
Mom was surprised when she came home. She put the noodles in bowls and sat with me and ate her noodles. “Mmm! These are the best noodles in the world, my son,” she said.
I knew the noodles were terrible. But that’s not important. Mom knew that I was trying to help out.

A.Noodles for Mom B.How to Make Noodles C.Mom Is the Best in the World
Passage 4
(2025·广东省广州市·中考)
It was going to be a long afternoon. Aunt Jen and Uncle Pete were visiting, which meant I had to play with Amy.
I was mixing salt with mud (泥) in the garden. Amy was dancing around like a butterfly. Maybe she could help prepare food for the butterflies.
“Okay, Amy,” I said. “You can help spread this salt on the mud.”
She took the salt shaker. “Are you growing butterflies like plants, Simon?”
“Questions again!” I shook my head. This little girl had a lot to learn—just like me at her age, when my family started planting this butterfly garden. “Some butterflies need salt to stay healthy,” I explained. “Once, a butterfly sat right here on my arm, tasting my salty sweat.”
“I want a butterfly to sit on me!” cried Amy. “I want to wear it like a flower!”
“Butterflies don’t grow like flowers,” I said. “They fly wherever they like.”
“Aww...make them come to me,” Amy said.
“They will. They love our garden’s plants, with nice leaves and juice, and this...” I said, pointing to the salty mud.
“I don’t like mud,” Amy said. “See, my new pink shoes are muddy—and pink’s my favorite color!”
I tried to distract her attention. “Do you know butterflies have favorite colors, too?”
“Pink?” Amy asked, starting to smile again.
“They like purple better, and orange,” I explained, pointing to the nearby butterfly weed with dark orange flowers. “Look, a butterfly is drinking the juice of the flowers.”
I kept talking so she wouldn’t try to catch it. “Butterfly weed is a perfect host plant. Butterflies lay eggs here, which become caterpillars, then chrysalises, and finally beautiful butterflies...”
As I spoke, Amy saw a big bee. “Shoo! No bees allowed!” she cried.
“Hey, it’s okay. Butterflies and bees both work for flowers,” I told her.
“Butterflies work?” she asked.
“Yes, listen...”
We stayed in the garden until sunset. Then I smelt bread and suggested, “Let’s rest in the hammock.”
As we lay together, Amy noticed a butterfly leaving a flower and cried, “Simon, it’s like a flying flower!”
That made me smile. We swung gently back and forth, happy just to watch all the flowers—the ones that fly and those that don’t—until Mom called us in to dinner.

Passage 5
(2025·浙江省·中考)
It was very dark outside. I heated the food in the kitchen again, but my dad still didn’t come back from the forest. He worked as a forest ranger (护林员). In the morning, he told me he would go to check the new small trees and that I didn’t need to wait for him for dinner. But now, the wind was blowing hard and making a loud noise, like an animal. I stood at the door and called him, but he didn’t answer.
“I can’t wait any longer,” I thought. I took a flashlight from the corner and went out. The light showed me the way, but the shadows of the trees looked scary, like claws. I held the flashlight more tightly. I was worried that Dad might be lost or in trouble, so I walked into the forest slowly.
The wind blew harder, and the leaves made noise. I was scared and kept looking back, but I saw nothing. The flashlight was dying. Just then, I heard someone shout, “Xiaoyu? Is that you?”
It was Dad! I shouted, “Dad! I’m here!” I saw the light move, and then I saw his orange ranger clothes. I ran to him and jumped into his arms. I could smell the pine on him, and I almost cried. “Son, why are you here?” Dad asked. Dad’s hands were cold, but he hugged me hard. “My phone stopped working. Passage 6
(2025·山东省济南市·中考)
Construction (建筑) is one of the biggest users of energy and one of the biggest polluters. According to AI Magazine, construction is responsible for using 38% of world energy. The building part alone takes up almost 55% of final energy use and 33% of greenhouse gases. It’s also well known that steel produces too much material waste in building construction.
Because of this big challenge, the future of sustainable (可持续的) construction may lie with AI. AI is able to study building efficiency (效率) performance by grouping data to find the best chances for sustainable material usage. With a tool like AI, the future of sustainable construction could progress much faster than in the past. Besides, AI helps architects (建筑师) work with new tools and sustainable materials to create our better buildings and cities of the future. For example, construction 3D printing guided by AI can offer better choices for building materials to save money, and map out how construction materials could be recycled.
In a professional article, AI is praised as a tool for sustainable construction, “In recent years, AI has become a promising tool for construction. AI can examine a large number of data sets on weather conditions and help to make full use of building systems for energy efficiency, water protection and other goals.”
AI can be used to speed up the future of sustainable construction to set standards for the industry, and make construction more efficient and affordable. Like any other computer, AI is a tool that is particularly good at studying data sets, but for the moment it still requires smart and ethical (有道德的) human beings to lead its work. All of that has to be done with respect for humans, so it’s really up to us to make it work.
1.How is paragraph 1 developed?
A.By listing numbers. B.By telling stories.
C.By expressing feelings. D.By making comparisons.
2.How can AI help architects?
A.Produce sustainable steel. B.Draw maps of dream cities.
C.Invent recyclable 3D printers. D.Choose sustainable materials.
3.Which best explains the underlined word “promising” in paragraph 3?
A.Facing challenges. B.Needing improving.
C.Taking years to grow. D.Having a bright future.
4.What does the writer suggest in the last paragraph?
A.It’s difficult to develop AI. B.Humans’ future depends on AI.
C.It’s humans’ duty to guide AI. D.Humans and AI should work together.
5.What is the text mainly about?
A.AI recycles construction wastes. B.AI may take the place of architects.
C.AI helps sustainable construction. D.AI speeds sustainable development.
Passage 7
Every morning, a big riverside school in the forest of Borneo comes to life. The caretakers and teachers in the school are from a specialized team, and the students there are orangutans (猩猩) whose parents have gone missing, making it one of the most unusual schools in the world.
The orangutans aged from 2 to 8 years old are divided into five groups according to their skills. They are looked after by the team who feed the babies and teach the older ones to start feeding themselves. There are often problems in the beginning. For example, there was a lesson about how to break open a coconut to drink the milk inside. Several young orangutans couldn’t do that and they got very angry about the whole thing.
Of course, as in any social group, the orangutans have to learn to get on with each other. There are the usual arguments over food when one orangutan doesn’t get what he or she wants. However, with the care of the trainers, they gradually learn to accept each other.
In one of the lessons, the trainers teach young orangutans to climb trees. This is an important skill they need to learn. Some of the orangutans in particular were really scared. It took them a long time to get the courage to climb up and swing from a branch (树枝), but when they finally did it, they were so satisfied with themselves!
The goal of the “education system” is to train the orangutans to be able to live in the wild again and look after themselves. They won’t have to stay at school forever. After the older orangutans are set free into the forest, there is no more connection with the people from the school. They now have to live as wild orangutans again and be accepted by the other orangutans who are already there.
The day when they say goodbye is a difficult one. However, the trainers are happy that their job is done. They have successfully taught young orangutans how to live in the wild again—where they belong.
6.Where is the orangutan school?
A.In a forest. B.By a lake. C.In a zoo. D.In a laboratory.
7.What do orangutans learn to do in the school?
A.Fight to live. B.Be good with each other.
C.Make useful tools. D.Feed babies on their own.
8.How did the young orangutans feel after learning to climb trees?
A.Surprised. B.Relaxed. C.Tired. D.Happy.
9.Why is the “education system” set up for orangutans?
A.To offer them an easy life. B.To train them to be independent.
C.To free them from the past. D.To keep them away from humans.
10.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.A Special Forest Team B.Wildlife Schools in the World
C.A School with a Difference D.Courses for Smart Orangutans
Passage 8
(2025·广东省广州市·中考)
Libraries around the world still keep old books hundreds of years old. But will we be able to read today’s digital (数字的) books in hundreds of years? Librarians are worried. Even now, we can’t open some files (文件) from 20 or 25 years ago. Will our digital works be lost in a digital black hole? Will we face the loss of valuable information?
Technology is changing fast. Old ways of keeping information are gone now, or they are no longer supported by new technology. For example, many people used floppy discs (软盘) to save files years ago, but today few machines can open them. Also, millions of songs and music pieces were saved on tapes or CDs, but now most old music players no longer work. Another problem is that websites often change or close down, and all the information on them can fall into the digital black hole.
Books, however, are quite easy to keep. We don’t need special tools or technology to read them. If you keep them in a dry and safe place, they will stay safe for a long time. Li Shizhen’s great medical book Ben Cao Gang Mu came out in 1593. Amazingly, three copies from the first printing still survive today. That’s not bad for a book more than 400 years old.
Today, to some researchers, printed books remain a safe way to keep information. In 2014, a professional group began to raise money to print a famous online encyclopedia into 1,000 books. This would make sure that even if digital technology fails, the knowledge can still be kept.
For now, when it comes to storing information, printed copies seem to be the safest choice. However, future technology might develop and provide new ways to solve the problem of the digital black hole. Time will tell.
11.What happens if our digital works fall into a digital black hole?
A.They are carefully kept. B.They cannot be understood.
C.They cannot be read or reached. D.They are saved in a wrong place.
12.What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?
A.How music players are developing. B.How technology is changing over time.
C.Why old machines are no longer used today. D.Why technology may cause information loss.
13.Why does the writer mention Ben Cao Gang Mu?
A.To discuss why this book is still important. B.To show printed books can last for a long time.
C.To explain how easy it is to keep printed books. D.To tell when the earliest printed book came out.
14.What would the writer most probably agree with?
A.Libraries should keep more digital books.
B.Digital books are less valuable than printed ones.
C.Technology will soon solve the problem of the digital black hole.
D.Technology is still looking for better ways to keep information.

Passage 12
(2025·海南省·中考)
What would life be like if AI (artificial intelligence) solved all your problems? You wouldn’t have to work anymore. You could get anything you wanted by just moving a finger. You could feel pleasure whenever you wanted. Death would become almost a choice—you could turn into a digital form (数字化的形式) and keep going for a million years.
All that sounds terrible to me.
It’s true that humans don’t like problems. But if we had no problems to solve, what would be the point of living? How long would we be happy sitting on top of our big mountains of candy? For me, a long weekend would be enough. A million years of perfect happiness would feel like a terrible dream.
Professor Nick Bostrom from a famous university believes that even if AI could do everything perfectly, people might still “work” at “jobs” in “offices”. “But these jobs would really be more like hobbies.”
That wouldn’t be a problem, you might say, as people could stay busy doing other things. They could go shopping, do some gardening or take care of their children. But one reason people get satisfied with such activities is that they pride themselves on being good at them.
They know how to find the right beds, grow roses or dry a child’s tears. However, AI will probably do these all better than you. In a world like that, you might feel like you’re doing more harm than good to your child if you try parenting on your own.
But life in that “ perfect ” world might still be bearable (可忍受的), says Bostrom. For example, we could ask our computers to give us interesting tasks. In Greg Egan’s sci-fi novel Permutation City, a man forces himself to develop new hobbies every now and then to keep from being bored. He finds joy in making table legs and ends up making 162,329 of them.
Bostrom suggests we not rush to make a decision. We might end up liking the future. “The question here is not how interesting a future is to look at, but how good it is to live in,” he says.
1.How does the writer feel about a life where AI could solve all problems?
A.Life would be terrible. B.People would find real joy. C.There would be no more jobs.
2.What does Bostrom say about “future jobs” if AI could do everything?
A.People might fight against AI for jobs.
B.People might give up creating new tasks.
C.People might still do some work as hobbies.
3.When might people feel helpless in a world with smart AI?
A.When they find AI cannot finish their tasks.
B.When they compare their abilities with AI’s.
C.When they work together with AI in offices.
4.Why does the passage mention a man making 162,329 table legs?
A.To suggest that AI would force humans into boring work.
B.To give an example of how AI helps humans work faster.
C.To show humans can still have fun in a problem-free world.
5.What question does the writer want us to think about most?
A.Can life remain meaningful if AI solves all problems?
B.Is it a good idea to stay alive for millions of years?
C.Do we need to stop making AI smarter now?
Passage 13
(2025·北京市·中考)
People are talking a lot about artificial intelligence (AI), viewing it as a force that could reshape how society works. But there is something important missing from this discussion. It isn’t enough to ask how it will change us. We also need to understand how we shape AI and what it can tell us about ourselves.
Every AI model we develop mirrors our rules and expresses our beliefs. A few years ago, while looking for new workers, a famous company gave up an AI-powered tool after finding it unfavorable to women. The AI was not designed to behave this way, instead, it was influenced by the historical data (数据) favoring men. Similarly, a recent study found that lending algorithms (算法) often offer less favorable terms to colored people, worsening long-standing unfairness in money-lending business. In both cases, AI isn’t creating new biases (偏见), it is mirroring the ones that are already present.
These reflections (反映) give us an important chance to take a close look at ourselves. By making these problems seen and more pressing, AI challenges us to recognize and address what causes algorithmic bias. As AI continues to develop, we must ask ourselves how we as average people want to shape its role in society. We should not only improve AI models, but also make sure that AI is developed and used responsibly.
A number of companies are already taking action. They are judging the data, rules, and beliefs that shape the behavior of AI models. Still, we cannot expect the companies to do all the work. As long as AI is trained on human data, it will reflect human behavior. That means we have to think carefully about the footprints of ourselves we leave in the world. I may value privacy, but if I give it up in a heartbeat to visit a website, the algorithms may make a very different judgment of what I really want and what is good for me. If I want meaningful human connections yet spend more time on social media and less time in the physical company of my friends, I am indirectly training AI models about the true nature of humanity.
As AI becomes more powerful, we need to take increasing care to read our principles (原则) into the record of our actions rather than allowing the two to diverge. Recognizing this allows us to make better decisions, but only when we are prepared to look closely and take responsibility for what we see.
6.Why does the writer introduce the two examples in Paragraph 2?
A.To suggest a solution. B.To stress a difference.
C.To challenge a practice. D.To support a viewpoint.
7.What does the word “diverge” in the last paragraph most probably mean?
A.Improve. B.Appear. C.Separate. D.Repeat.
8.According to the passage, what is a good example of shaping AI responsibility?
A.Guarding one’s privacy against AI models. B.Being mindful of our feeds into AI models.
C.Training algorithms to favor the latest data. D.Designing algorithms to deal with unfairness.
9.Which of the following is the best title for this passage?
A.AI Isn’t the Problem; We Are B.AI: A Tool to Reshape Our Society
C.More Open algorithms for Better AI? D.Building Trust in Human-AI Relationships
Passage 14
(2025·山东省泰安市·中考)
Nowadays, some companies around the world are now offering humanoid (human-like) robots. They are being designed (设计) to look as human as possible. These products of technology are at the center of a debate (辩论): Should they be made to look like humans or just like what they are machines?
Robots are playing an increasingly bigger role in our lives. In some countries, robots have been entertaining kids and helping the elderly. Some experts say robots will be more effective at such jobs if they look like humans. Research has shown that people feel closer to human-like robots. Also, human-like robots suit environments that are designed for humans. After all, the world is full of stairs (楼梯), hallways, shelves at shoulder height and sightlines at eye level.
But other experts say robots don’t need to look like humans. Humanoid robots also have disadvantages. If robots look like us, we may expect them to act like us. However, they may make us disappointed because they can’t always do that yet. For example, they can’t laugh at the right moments during a conversation. Many people also find human-like robots scary.
I think the human body is not the best design for many of the jobs we want robots to do. Just think of small, flat robot vacuums (真空吸尘器). They can go under a sofa to pick up the dust balls. Can human-like robots also do this? Even if robots can be made into humanlike ones, why do we limit (限定) them to two legs and two arms? Why not four and six so they can pick up the elderly or sick people comfortably? And that super intelligent AI almost certainly wouldn’t pick one body design to carry its mind around in. Passage 1
(2025·山东省枣庄市·中考)
阅读下面短文,然后判断短文后面各小题,正确的答案涂“T”,错误的答案涂“F”.
This term, students and teachers in some junior high schools have seen some changes. These changes happened because AI tools stepped into classes.
By using AI to make personalized (个性化的) exercises and exams, teachers are able to help each student in different ways.
When students finish a unit, teachers can pick up different questions online offered by AI. It helps create a set of exercises for the unit. Doing this can make students learn knowledge better. “We don’t need to carry all the heavy exercise books anymore,” said 14-year-old Sophia.
After students complete the exercise questions, teachers use the AI tool to check their answers. It will provide data and graphics (图表) to help teachers understand both the performance of the whole class and each student’s progress. “Our teacher no longer explains all the questions one by one. Instead, she looks at the common mistakes and provides one-on-one help for every one of us,” said 15-year-old Emily.
Also, depending on their performance in past exams, students can get personalized exercises or homework made by AI. So students can spend less time on what they have already known and have more time to study what they don’t know.
“I used to have a notebook where I wrote down my mistakes so that I could study them,” said 16-year-old Jennifer. “But now, AI does it for me.”
1.AI tools are mainly used to make one-on-one exams for students.
2.With the help of AI tools, students don’t need any exercise books.
3.Students can make better use of their time by using AI tools.
4.Sophia, Emily and Jennifer all think AI is good for their studies.
Passage 2
(2025·黑龙江省齐齐哈尔市·中考)
A research team from China has invented a six-legged guide robot. “We believe our robot will work as a pair of eyes for blind people,” said Professor Gao Feng.
According to a study, there are around 17.31 million blind people in China. However, because of high training cost and long training periods, there are only over 400 guide dogs in service, which means only one guide dog is available for every 40,000 blind people in China.
As a strong backup for the real guide dog, the guide robot can understand the orders of blind people and reply in less than one second (秒). It can also see and tell traffic lights. Another task of our robot is to talk with blind people and serve as a home companion (陪伴者). Besides, it can walk smoothly on different kinds of terrain (地形) and guide the blind both indoors and outdoors with no need of the Internet. So it is easy and convenient for the blind to use the robot. The guide robot is a fast walker. It is able to walk at the highest speed of three meters every second.
The guide robot is now being tested and Gao believes that it will soon be ready for the market!
根据文章内容,判断句子正(T)、误(F)。
5.A six-legged guide robot was invented to help the blind.
6.The second paragraph (段落) means our country is short of guide dogs.
7.Without the help of the Internet, the guide robot can’t work.

Passage 3
(2025·吉林省长春市·中考)
A large number of studies point out the advantages of expressive writing. It is a method of helping people get out of worries by writing them down on paper. Some people took part in a six-week program of expressive writing in Duke University. The result showed that they improved their ability to feel better from worries.
Tom, a middle school student, seldom talks to others. But he usually keeps diaries. He once wrote, “I fought with my best friend because we held different opinions on the movie. I just couldn’t control my feeling of anger at that time. I felt very upset and didn’t speak the whole day. Well, after ‘talking’ to you, I feel much better now.” Writing down the true thoughts became a useful tool to help Tom get out of the anger.
The power of the pen can also be seen on Nancy. She has a pen friend in a different country. They write letters to each other every month. By sharing daily life and even some secrets, they both become less stressed. The letters they have kept for years see their growing up.
Today, most written communication is electronic. When something is written by hand—at work or at home—the relationship around is made warmer. This method can be taken as a chance to get more smiles from someone.
In modern life, people are busy and sometimes worried. Expressive writing is a good helper. It can help people understand and manage feelings. The key is to start at once.

Passage 4
(2025·浙江省·中考)
①Life is full of moments, but some are “special” and stay in our hearts forever. For example, the first time you rode a bike alone, a friend’s hug when you were sad, or in the evening talking with family. These moments aren’t always big, but they change how we feel about ourselves and the world.
②Special moments are like treasures. We don’t need to write them down—our hearts remember them. A teacher might praise a shy student’s drawing, making the child feel important. A parent could bake cookies with you on a rainy day, filling the kitchen with laughter. Even strangers can create them: a barista who knows your coffee order, or a neighbor who helps carry groceries. These small acts stay in our minds because they make us feel loved.
③Businesses also use special moments. A café might play soft music and serve warm cookies on cold days to make customers feel welcome. A bookstore could hold story time for kids every weekend, turning a visit into a happy memory. An ice-cream shop lets customers decorate their own cones (冰激凌蛋筒)—seeing a child smile while adding something is a moment everyone remembers.
④In the end, special moments are everywhere. They don’t need money or planning—just a little care. A kind word, a smile, or a small surprise can make life richer. So take time to enjoy these moments—they make life worth living.

Passage 5
(2025·湖北省武汉市·中考)
Meng Xiang was crazy about films and music during his childhood. When he started college, he dreamed of making films that could combine (结合) his love for storytelling and interest in music.
His biggest challenge came when he planned to make a film about a tennis player. Since no one would offer him money for a 2-hour film, Meng and his college friends tried to make a shorter one. They bought a second-hand camera and used old things instead of expensive equipment (设备). They even made a shelf on their own to support the camera.
Meng and his friends worked hard, rain or shine. When filming the tennis player, they ran after him in the summer sun. If it rained and they couldn’t film outside, they hung bed sheets (床单) on the walls in an empty room to set up a simple studio (摄影棚). This 12-minute film got much attention. The teachers and students in their college liked the music they created for it.
After that, Meng had another idea: to make a musical film. But musicals weren’t popular in college, and many said it wouldn’t work. Instead of listening to the doubts, Meng and his team spent weeks writing new songs and making a test video. To film the moving scenes, they fixed a smartphone on a skateboard and pushed it. The actors’ hair was blowing in the wind while they were dancing and singing. The loud voice and laughter of the team filled the air.
Their musical film was well received and won several awards at a film festival. As Meng said, “Making films isn’t about having the best equipment or famous actors. Passage 6
(2025·北京市·中考)
Imagine a robot. What comes to your mind first? A machine stronger than the human body? However, this same quality is now causing a big problem—it’s creating tons of long-lasting e-waste that could flood our planet. What if, instead, the machines we use were designed to break down and disappear—just as living things do?
For a study published in Science Advances, researchers made a robotic arm and a controller using materials from animals and plants. These materials are strong enough to work but can easily break down in a natural environment. After testing, both parts were gone in soil within weeks.
Biodegradable (可生物降解的) robotics often falls under the umbrella of soft robotics, which takes ideas from nature. “This field started in materials science and chemistry rather than traditional robots that come from mechanical (机械的) engineering.” says Florian Hartmann, a materials scientist from Germany. However, many early soft robotics models still used man-made materials that cause pollution.
Wei, a scientist who studies natural materials in Hangzhou, worked together with his friend Zhang, a robotics engineer in Shanghai, to build robots for the new study. They started with cellulose (纤维素) taken from cotton. Then, they added glycerol (甘油) to make a new material that is soft and easy to change shapes. After that they allowed it to dry so it became strong, “Cellulose is cheap and easy to work with,” says Wei. They found that the controller and the robotic arm stood up to both heavy use and a week of inactivity. Finally, they buried (埋) them both in a hole. Within eight weeks these two parts were almost completely gone.
Wei and Zhang expect that robots like these can be used to deal with dangerous waste and then disappear naturally. They also hope that such robots can aid doctors in operations and then safely break down inside the body.
However, it’s important to note that the technology is still in very early stages. “If we truly want to have a biodegradable robot,” Hartmann says, “we also need to make sure its electronics and power parts are biodegradable.”
24.What is special about the robotic arm and the controller in Paragraph 2?
A.They are green. B.They are hard. C.They are intelligent. D.They are affordable.
25.What is mentioned in Paragraph 5 about soft robots?
A.Their operation. B.Their applications. C.Their challenges. D.Their performance.
26.What can we learn from the passage?
A.Soft robots are widely used to clean up e-waste.
B.Soft robots have to rest for a week after heavy use.
C.The designing of soft robots borrows ideas from nature.
D.Mechanical engineering offers new ways to run soft robots.
Passage 7
(2025·浙江省·中考)
Plains wanderers are small, rare birds that live in grasslands. Unlike most birds, female plains wanderers are larger and stronger than males. Females take the lead in protecting their nests and babies from animals like foxes, while males often sit on the eggs to keep them warm. These birds are hard to find because their feathers blend into the grass, making them look like part of the landscape. Sadly, their numbers have been dropping because people are taking over their grassland homes for farms and cities.
To save them, scientists are using AI. The key is the birds’ calls. Mother wanderers make soft sounds to talk to their chicks and warn about danger. These calls are quiet and easy to miss, but AI can hear them clearly. Scientists put microphones in the grasslands to record sounds all day and night. Then they put these recordings into a computer program. The AI learns to tell the wanderers’ calls apart from other noises, like the wind blowing or insects chirping. This helps scientists find where the mother birds are and how many chicks they have.
“AI helps us monitor these birds without bothering them,” says Dr. Lee, who leads the project. “We can find the most important areas for them and work to protect those places.” Once, the AI helped scientists find a hidden nest with three baby birds. Without AI, they might not have found it. Thanks to this technology, there is new hope for these rare birds, showing that AI can be a powerful tool in saving wildlife.
27.What do we know about plains wanderers?
A.Males are larger than females. B.They are easy to find in grasslands.
C.Mother birds are bigger and protect babies. D.They are common in many habitats.
28.The underlined word “monitor” in the last paragraph probably means “________”.
A.see B.catch C.feed D.follow
29.How do scientists use AI to find plains wanderers?
A.By taking photos of their nests. B.By tracking their flying paths.
C.By counting eggs in the grass. D.By analyzing calls from mother birds.
30.What is the passage mainly about?
A.Why plains wanderers are rare. B.How mother wanderers protect their chicks.
C.What AI can do in daily life. D.How scientists use AI to protect plains wanderers.

Passage 13
(2025·贵州省·中考)
Human actions are affecting the environment. We will lose more of the natural world if we don’t try to change things. Though it is difficult, we can make a difference. Each small change is important, and luckily more individuals (个人) and organizations are working on conservation (保护) projects.
Samson, an African fisherman, has become a voice for the ocean. He and the other fishermen realized they were catching fewer and fewer fish. They were overfishing. Working with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Samson learned they had to fish more carefully. He realized they shouldn’t catch so many young fish because if there are too few of them, there won’t be enough adult fish to reproduce. He believes protecting the ocean is everybody’s job. As he says, “Take your responsibilities and never think that you are alone.”
In Florida, the Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC) noticed there were always plenty of single-use plastic items, like bottles and drinking straws (吸管), on the beaches. These items can hurt the ocean wildlife terribly. Straws are especially dangerous for turtles because they can get stuck in turtles’ noses and hurt them badly. So, the STC started the project “Where are the straws?” asking local restaurants to stop giving customers straws with their drinks. Now, restaurants will only give straws if customers ask for them, and they only give out paper straws.
Those are just two examples of the many conservation efforts around the world today. They both show us that change is possible and that it can start with small actions. We are part of the problem. It’s time to be part of the solution.
54.What does the underlined word “them” in paragraph 2 refer to?
A.Young fish. B.Oceans. C.Fishermen.
55.What would happen through STC’s efforts?
A.More and more tourists would relax on the beaches.
B.There would be fewer plastic straws on the beaches
C.Customers would buy more drinks from restaurants.
56.What is the structure of the text?(P= paragraph)
A. B. C.
57.Which can be the best title for the text?
A.Playing a role in stopping plastic straws
B.Becoming a voice for saving young fish
C.Making a difference to the natural world

The ink brush is a traditional tool for writing and painting in ancient China. It’s also one of the “Four Treasures of the Chinese Study”. The earliest ink brush was found more than 2,500 years ago.
The Han Dynasty (202 BC—220 AD) is an important period for the development of the ink brush, and it is also the time when Cai Lun improved the paper-making method. People began to widely use ink brushes at that time. Meanwhile, the first book on how to produce ink brushes came out.
In the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, many ink brush experts got together in Huzhou of Zhejiang province and the brush-producing industry developed rapidly. Huzhou has been the center of brushing making since the Qing Dynasty. Ink brushes produced there, called the Hubi, are the best known.
The ink brush is made up of the stalk and the nib. The stalk is usually made of bamboo, wood or other valuable materials. The nib is made of fine, soft animal hair including three main kinds: rabbit’s hair, wool and weasel’s hair (黄鼠狼毛). People often call these nibs tuhao, yanghao, and langhao in Chinese.
The ink brush is made in three sizes: big, medium or small. Most works of calligraphy (书法) are written with a medium-sized brush. Usually, painters and calligraphers have several kinds of brushes on hand to meet personal purposes and preferences (喜好).
6.Ink brushes became popular in the Han Dynasty.
7.Huzhou has been the center of brushing making since the Yuan Dynasty.
8.The nib is made of good, soft animal hair including two main kinds.
9.Most works of calligraphy are created with a medium-sized brush.
10.The text mainly talks about a traditional tool—the ink brush.
Passage 3
(2025·山东省济南市·中考)
When I was a kid, my two brothers and I would stay with Grandparents for a week during summer vacation. We always looked forward to spending every moment with them, especially Grandpa, the “hero” in our eyes.
Grandpa became blind when he was 20 years old, but it never slowed down the strong-willed (坚强的) man. He worked in a shop every day. Customers would give him money, and he would return the right change and give them exactly what they wanted. He had many friends who visited the shop just to talk to him, and at that time, I helped to hand customers their drinks and snacks. This made me feel grown-up.
He also cooked lunch and washed dishes while Grandma worked. As a boy, I would watch him move around the house from room to room as if he could see. I was so surprised about how he moved from cooking to washing the dishes, never making a mistake.
It seemed like every time I stayed with him, we would visit someone in the evening who was weak or very sick. Although he can’t see things, he never let it stop him from working and being kind to others. His love for people never ended.
During those weeks, he taught me many lessons that I still treasure today. They take me back to those days and remind me how special he was. I miss every moment I stayed with him. To this day, I still dislike hearing someone say, “I can’t do that,” because I knew a blind man who never said those words.

Passage 4
(2025·广东省广州市·中考)
When I was young, my father took me outside to see the stars. Once we saw a comet (彗星)! It was the first comet I’d seen but wasn’t the last.
My name is Caroline Herschel. I was born in Hanover, Germany in 1750. When I was 22, I moved to England to stay with my older brother, William. He was a musician and he offered me singing lessons. I helped him with housework in return. I practiced hard and soon started singing at his concerts.
Life changed when William became interested in astronomy. He read about space late into the night. Breakfast often turned into a lesson about stars. I learned a lot from him. And we even started working together on a big project: building telescopes—the special tools for seeing faraway things.
To make the perfect mirrors for our telescopes, we heated metals and shaped them using special molds (模具). These molds were made from strange things, like dry horse waste. I had to break it into small bits. It was dirty work, but I didn’t mind. Someone had to do it.
Making the mirrors smooth was very difficult. William invented a machine to help, but he still had to work without stopping for hours once he began. He couldn’t even stop to eat, so I fed him and read stories to keep him happy and relaxed.
In 1781, William discovered something fantastic—a new planet! King George was so glad that he made William his astronomer. William made a telescope just for me. And I was able to search the sky along with him.
On August 1, 1786, I found something special too—a comet! I watched it carefully for one more night and discovered it was real. Now everyone is talking about my comet. They call it the Lady’s Comet.
This is the first comet I’ve ever discovered, but I don’t think it will be the last.
Historical Note: After Caroline discovered her first comet, King George paid her to be William’s assistant (助手). She was one of the first women astronomers to be paid for her work. She went on to find seven more comets herself between 1786 and 1797.

C.William took care of most of the work. D.They were important to each other’s success.
Passage 5
(2025·北京市·中考)
When I was young, flowers filled my mom’s garden each spring. I never thought that Mom had done much about them behind the scenes (在幕后), until she shared her secret with me.
One day last November, Mom and I spent a whole morning planting flower bulbs. I dropped one in each hole and covered it over with soil. My fingers were numb (麻木的) by the time we finished. However, the ground looked just as flower bulb empty and flat as it had been before. Then Mom told me to wait. I didn’t only wait—I watched. I watched hopefully all through the winter...
On the last day of April, I went outside to find the garden full of colorful flowers. Our hard work paid off.
“My boy, tomorrow morning,” Mom said, “we will walk the neighborhood and leave a basket of flowers on each doorstep.”
“What?” I almost cried. “Are we selling our flowers?”
“Of course not,” she said excitedly. “In fact, nobody will even know they’re from us. We’ll leave them at our neighbors’ as a surprise. Doesn’t that sound fun?”
“To me, it doesn’t sound fun at all” I replied unwillingly. “They’re our flowers. We should keep them for ourselves!”
“Flowers are like kindness,” Mom said. “Their beauty is meant to be shared.”
Early the next morning, Mom woke me up. We brought the baskets and stopped near the first house. I took one basket, set it by the doorstep and rang the bell. Then we quickly ran away, ducked behind the trees and waited.
Finally, the door opened. A man came out, looking surprised. He picked up the flower basket and then smiled. Mom hugged me. I got a good feeling inside. Now I knew what she meant about beauty sharing. I couldn’t wait to get to the next house.
By the time we got home, I was grinning (咧着嘴笑) from ear to ear. The garden was empty, but my heart was full.

Passage 6
(2025·江苏省苏州市·中考)
A medical breakthrough in China is giving new hope to people with spinal cord injuries (脊髓损伤). Scientists have created a brain-spinal chip (芯片) that allows paralyzed (瘫痪的) patients to move their legs, and even walk again.
The chip, only 1mm wide, is designed to be fitted into the brain and spinal cord. If the natural communication between the brain and muscles (肌肉) is lost, this chip becomes the bridge. When the chips work, they create a direct connection between the brain and muscles.
The results have been amazing. A 34-year-old man, paralyzed after a fall, could move his legs just one day after the operation on January 8, 2025. Two weeks later, he walked five meters with help. Three other patients had similar operations in February and March, all getting better within weeks. Even though the patients’ nervous systems were damaged (受损), the chips helped them walk again. This marks a big step in China’s progress in medical science and it brings hope for over 3.7 million people in China.
“This is just the beginning,” Jia, the lead researcher, says. “With the technology, these people may one day leave wheelchairs behind after 3 to 5 years of training.”
Behind this achievement is a long journey of careful research and bold thinking. It took the researchers over 10 years to develop the chip. They tested it on animals first, and then on people. They faced many challenges, yet they never gave up. Step by step, they developed a system to reconnect the mind and body in ways once appearing only in science fiction.
As the chip continues to improve, it lights a new path forward—one built on science, shaped by care, and aimed toward a brighter future.
23.What do we know about the chips mentioned in the passage?
A.They are only as wide as 2 mm. B.They are fitted into the man’s arms.

Passage 7
(2025·江苏省苏州市·中考)
Want to know what your friends are really like? Take a look at their music playlist. More than 36,000 people, from all over the world, took part in an experiment (实验). It compared their personalities with how much they liked different musical styles. The results show that personalities do influence what we listen to. Here’s what certain musical styles say about who you are.
Rock
Like the sound of loud guitars and heavy drum beats? This type of music sounds very exciting, but fans of it are often quite gentle.
Country music
If cowboy hats and guitars get you singing along, it’s possible that you’re hard-working, preferring traditional styles and values.
Jazz
Fans of this strong music always come up with new ideas and are good at learning. If you like the saxophone of John Coltrane, then you’re probably self-confident and easy to get on with.
Classical music
If Beethoven and Mozart have you turning up the music, you’re probably quiet, but happy with who you are and comfortable with the world around you.
But the experiment didn’t tell the whole story: where we grow up, who we often go out with, and our personal experiences play into our taste, too. The songs you choose to be part of your life make you different from others. But no matter what style you like, music is for everyone. And enjoying different types of music lets you get a taste of cultures you might not have experienced before. So experiment with your playlist!
27.What influences our musical taste according to the experiment?
A.Personalities. B.Friends. C.Parents. D.Instruments.
28.According to the passage, if Daniel is creative, what may be found in his playlist?

29.What may be the writer’s advice for us?
A.Changing our personalities. B.Trying different types of music.
C.Doing experiments with friends. D.Getting more learning experiences.

Passage 11
(2025·江苏省苏州市·中考)
The sun hung low, brushing gold over the empty area. The air buzzed (喧闹)—not with insects, but with voices, cameras, and the weight of something about to begin.
Roy’s heart beat like a drum. He looked out at the people gathering for the pancake house ground-breaking ceremony (仪式). Behind him stood the company men and the reporters. And under his feet—hidden underground—were the tiny burrows (洞穴) of the owls.
No sign marked them. No fence protected them. They asked nothing, made no sound, yet now heavy machines waited, ready to destroy (破坏) their living area.
He thought of Mullet Fingers, the wild boy who cared about animals more than himself. He thought of brave Beatrice who helped even when it was hard. Roy had tried to stay out of trouble. He liked quiet. But now, staying quiet didn’t feel right.
He stepped up to the microphone (话筒).
“Excuse me,” he said, voice shaking. “Before you dig…you should know the truth.”
The crowd (人群) grew quiet.
“There are owls living here,” Roy said. “They’re small. They’re scared. And if you build here, you’ll destroy their homes.”
Someone in the crowd laughed. A reporter asked, “How do you know that?”
“Because I saw them. I stood right there and watched them. They live here. They belong here. And they matter.”
The manager stepped forward, “This is not your business, kid.”
Roy turned to face him. His fear turned into something else—strength.
“It’s my business. It’s everyone’s business. We can’t just destroy what we don’t see. Progress should not come at the cost of wonder,” he said.
His hands stopped shaking. People in the crowd began whispering. One mother held her child’s hand. A teacher nodded. Even the manager looked uncertain.
Roy didn’t know what would happen next. But he did what he could. He spoke the truth.
Roy used to be scared. But doing the right thing made him stronger.
Sometimes, doing what you can is enough to shift (改变) the wind.
46.Who did Roy think of before stepping up to the microphone?
A.His teacher. B.Mullet Fingers and Beatrice.
C.The manager. D.The newspaper reporters.
47.Why was Roy speaking to the crowd at the ceremony?

D.Standing up for nature takes courage but it’s worth it.
Passage 12
(2025·安徽省·中考)
Relationships with your siblings (兄弟姐妹) can help you practice social skills. Having a good relationship with them can help you communicate with other people, and understand other people’s feelings. You can even learn things when you don’t get on with your siblings. When you have argued (争吵) with them, you have to work out how to be in the same space as them. As a result, you often learn how to accept differences. It is very useful in the outside world.
It’s completely normal (正常的) that sometimes you and your sibling won’t see eye to eye. “Have a good think about why the two of you don’t get on. Try to talk when you both cool down,” says Dr. Owen, a researcher in how children develop. “Tell them how you feel. You could say, ‘It really hurts me when you make jokes about me.’ If the trouble carries on, talk to a trusted adult (成年人).”
All families are different. What if you don’t have siblings? That doesn’t mean you won’t experience the advantages people get from having a brother or sister. There are ways to help only children develop these skills too.

Passage 13
(2025·云南省·中考)
Imagine that a cool bamboo-like grass can be used to make green energy. Scientists at Landuo Biotech, a business in Wuhan, have created one such plant recently. They name it “super giant reed” (超级芦竹).
Since 2012, the Landuo team have collected over 1,000 wild giant reeds for experiments. As a result, more than 40 varieties of super giant reed have been “born”. In the Landuo’s factory, hundreds of young reeds are grown in glass bottles. Fully grown, super giant reeds are cut and put in a special place without O2. The Landuo team heat them up to make natural gas, which can then be used for energy.
Thanks to the scientists’ efforts, super giant reed has a biomass (生物量) three times that of wild giant reed. A kilogram of super giant reed also has 4,000 to 4,500 kilocalories (千卡) of energy. So, super giant reed is a great choice for taking the place of fossil fuels (化石燃料).
What’s more, growing super giant reed helps a lot. Planting 13,000 hectares of it can produce 0.45 to 1.5 million tons of fuel a year. 40 million hectares of super giant reed can be used instead of 2.2 billion (1 billion=1,000 million) tons of coal and can cut CO2 emissions (排放) by 4 billion tons in China every year.
Super giant reed is also well-suited for growing on some land like beaches, wetlands and salty lands. Once a reed is planted, it can be cut and used many times during the next 15 to 20 years. By the end of 2024, over 3,300 hectares of super giant reed had been planted across 53 areas in China.
At present, China is developing this new energy source—super giant reed and we hope that it can help to make our planet cleaner and cleaner.
53.What is the right order according to paragraph 2?
a. The super giant reeds are cut by the Landuo team.
b. The super giant reeds are heated up to make natural gas.
c. The Landuo team grow lots of young super giant reeds in glass bottles.
d. The Landuo team put the super giant reeds in a special place without O2.
A.a-b-c-d B.b-a-c-d C.c-b-d-a D.c-a-d-b
54.How many kilocalories of energy does a kilogram of super giant reed produce?
A.1,000 to 1,500. B.2,000 to 3,500.
C.4,000 to 4,500. D.5,000 to 5,500.
55.How does the writer support the main idea of paragraph 4?
A.By listing numbers. B.By telling stories.
C.By asking questions. D.By giving suggestions.
56.In which part of a newspaper can you probably read the text?

阅读短文,根据短文内容判断所给句子正(T)误(F)

6.Why did Simon mix the salt with the mud?
A.To play games with Amy. B.To prepare food for butterflies.
C.To make the plants grow better. D.To make it safer for Amy to dance.
7.How did Simon feel when Amy asked her first question?
A.He couldn’t believe how silly Amy was. B.He was surprised at Amy’s rich imagination.
C.He was a bit impatient but also very understanding. D.He was glad that Amy was curious about butterflies.
8.What does the underlined phrase “distract her attention” mean in the story?
A.Clean the mud off her shoes. B.Change her mind about mud.
C.Keep her away from the mud. D.Get her to forget about the mud.
9.Why did Simon feel happy at the end of the story?
A.The bread for dinner smelt good. B.He enjoyed the afternoon with Amy.

【答案】11.C 12.D 13.B 14.D

【答案】1.A 2.C 3.B 4.C 5.A

【答案】6.D 7.C 8.B 9.A
根据第二段“In both cases, AI isn’t creating new biases (偏见), it is mirroring the ones that are already present.”
根据“we need to take increasing care to read our principles (原则) into the record of our actions rather than allowing the two to diverge.”可知,在人工智能发展的过程中,我们需要将我们的原则融入到我们的行动记录中,而不是让两者背道而驰。划线部分diverge意为“分歧,背离”,与Separate表达的意思相近。故选C。
8.推理判断题。根据“As long as AI is trained on human data, it will reflect human behavior. That means we have to think carefully about the footprints of ourselves we leave in the world.”
A“AI Isn’t the Problem; We Are”最贴合主旨。故选A。
【试题亮点】 选取AI社会影响议论文,考查论证方法、词义猜测、观点理解和最佳标题。引导学生理解例证的作用,掌握从复杂语境推测词义的技巧,领悟“AI是人类的镜子”的深刻主题。
Why limit computational capacity (算力) to what fits inside a single head?
What’s your opinion about robots’ shapes?
10.According to the second paragraph, the reasons why robots should be designed to look like humans include ________.
①People feel closer to humanoid robots.
②Robots are widely used in the industrial field.
③Humanoid robots can serve the people effectively.
④Humanoid robots can suit human environments.
A.①②④ B.①③④ C.②③④ D.①②③
11.Other experts don’t agree that robots are designed to look like humans because humanoid robots ________.
A.cost a lot B.can’t cry or laugh
C.can’t have conversations with humans D.can’t always behave like us as we expect
12.What’s the writer’s opinion according to the fourth paragraph?
A.Robots can’t be made to look like humans.
B.Humanoid design is still the best choice for robots.
C.A robot should be designed with more arms, legs and heads.
D.The design of a robot’s shape should depend on its use.
13.What’s the best title of this passage?
A.The Development of Humanoid Robots
B.A Debate about Improving the Services of Robots
C.Should Robots Look like Humans?
D.Different Robots, Different Services
【答案】10.B 11.D 12.D 13.C

11.细节理解题。根据“If robots look like us, we may expect them to act like us.”
根据“Should they be made to look like humans or just like what they are machines?”

根据短文内容,判断句子正(T)、误(F)。

15.What does the passage say about special moments?
A.They are always big and exciting. B.We can keep the special things in mind.
C.We need to write them down to remember. D.They have nothing to do with how we feel.
16.What does the ice-cream shop probably do according to the passage?
A.Sells the cheapest ice-cream. B.Closes early on weekends.
C.Refuses to let kids enter. D.Creates ice-cream moments for guests.
17.Which is the structure of this passage?
A. B. C. D.
18.What is the passage mainly about?
A.How to use the power of the moment. B.Why people forget small moments.
C.When to plan big and exciting events. D.Where to find the most expensive treasures.
【答案】15.B 16.D 17.D 18.A

Passage 14
(2025·内蒙古自治区·中考)
Joss Naylor is a sheep farmer from the Lake District. Among most people, his name means little, but in certain circles, he is known as one of the finest mountain runners to have ever lived.
Joss lives and breathes mountains. He has lived and farmed all his life in an area of the Lake District which has many mountains, including the tallest mountain in England. Joss has an almost superhuman ability to run at speed over mountains. However, he wasn’t always a mountain runner. As a young man, he was advised to give up farming because of serious back problems. But, when he was 24, he was tired of being told to take it easy.
Nothing can stop a good man from being better! He continued working and took up running. When he ran his first mountain race, he discovered that he fell in love with it. All his time spent herding (放牧) sheep on the mountains had prepared him for this.
His achievements are nothing short of famous. For example, he smashed his own record and set a new one. At the age of 49, he ran up 214 mountains. “It is a wonderful experience though the practice is very hard,” he said. Many of his runs have raised money for charity, and he is popular in the community.
He keeps writing and sharing his experiences about his climb. “I want people back home—especially family and friends who support me—to get a real feel for what it’s like,” he said.

16.Why did Caroline move to England?
A.To live with her brother. B.To study at a music school.
C.To sing at famous concerts. D.To look after a sick relative.
17.In what order did the following happen in Caroline’s life?
a. She discovered her first comet. b. Her brother built a telescope for her.
c. Her brother became interested in space. d. She built telescopes together with her brother.
