专题01 阅读理解(应用文) 主题01 人与自我 Passage 1 (24-25高一下·天津·期中)Many people dream of travelling for a living, but what does it actually involve? Many would be guides start as volunteers, working in a place they know well, showing tourists around. Experience in a related field is generally favoured by employers in the travel industry. Skills and qualities needed While everyone brings their own personality to the job, there are some basic qualities that all tour guides should have: ·Energy and enthusiasm are an absolute must — when the day’s tour is done, a guide still needs to study commentary and confirm the next days activities, so you will often need to operate on very little sleep. ·A friendly personality is needed when interacting with clients, tour operators and the general public. ·An insight into a wide range of cultures helps a guide settle all kinds of issues, not only in the place being visited, but also among the people on the tour. ·Knowledge of emergency (紧急情况) procedures and the ability to remain calm in a crisis will benefit any tour guide. Your confidence as a tour leader will spread to the whole group. Know the reality Life as a tour guide often requires a long period away from home. Some find that busy times at work fall on holidays they would like to spend with loved ones. Burn-out (职业倦怠) is also a factor to consider but it does not mean the end of a career in travel. There are often positions available for roles in product development and sales within the industry; experience as a guide will stand you in good stead (对任何一名导游都有益) for these. I thought Mom would love it. I had been trying to cheer her up since Dad’s passing away. She had already been living with mental disease for a while, and had forgotten many things about her life. Sometimes she remembered Dad had gone. She would wish he could eventually return! When there was nothing to distract her, she would feel upset. I tried to keep her focus on the present. When I was growing up, Mom told me the tale of Beauty and the Beast. She and I had rushed to see the movie version when it first came out. She didn’t miss the musical performance, either. I thought maybe this musical could delight her. When I told her about the performance, Mom was eager to go. That was how we sat in the theatre. The lights darkened. The audience quieted. The curtain rose. That was when the big trouble appeared. “What’s this?” Mom asked loudly. “We’re seeing the musical, Beauty and the Beast” I whispered. “Once upon a time…” the narrator (旁白员) began. Mom began listening closely. Then the Beast appeared. “Is this Cats? ” she asked loudly again. “No, Mom,” I said. “I will see Cats! ”she insisted. I felt my face was hot. I had planned the whole night around our favorite show, Beauty and the Beast, but she was now yearning to see Cats! I struggled to calm Mom down and persuaded her to enjoy the show. Gradually, she was into the performance. Finally the performance was over. We left together. The performers were waiting to greet the audience. Some little girls were lined up to get a picture with Belle. Mom stopped short. “Kar, ” Mom asked shyly, “Could I get a picture with Belle? ” She used to take photos with Belle after the movie. “All right,” I said. I took a picture of Mom standing with Belle. She would wish he could eventually return! When there was nothing to distract her, she would feel upset.(有时她会想起爸爸已经走了。 根据第三段“When I was growing up, Mom told me the tale of Beauty and the Beast. She and I had rushed to see the movie version when it first came out. She didn’t miss the musical performance, either.(在我成长的过程中,妈妈给我讲了《美女与野兽》的故事。 根据第五段““What’s this?” Mom asked loudly. “We’re seeing the musical, Beauty and the Beast” I whispered. “Once upon a time…” the narrator (旁白员) began. Mom began listening closely. Then the Beast appeared.(‘这是什么?’ 和第六段““Is this Cats? ” she asked loudly again.(‘这是《猫》吗?’ 故选A。 19. 根据上文““Is this Cats? ” she asked loudly again. “No, Mom, ” I said. “I will see Cats! ”she insisted. I felt my face was hot. I had planned the whole night around our favorite show, Beauty and the Beast,(‘这是《猫》吗?’ 根据最后一段“She used to take photos with Belle after the movie. “All right,” I said. I took a picture of Mom standing with Belle. Suddenly I saw a different Mom—joyous from within. These were the moments I must hold fast to.(她过去常在电影结束后和贝儿合影。‘好吧,’我说。我给妈妈和贝儿站在一起拍了张照片。突然,我看到了一个不同的妈妈——内心充满了喜悦。这些都是我必须紧紧抓住的时刻。)”可知,从作者的妈妈和贝儿合影中,我们可以了解到这部电影对他的母亲很有意义。故选B。 Passage 2 (24-25高一下·天津滨海新·期中)When it comes to having a healthy body, seeing may be believing. Experiments suggest that people who are shown pictures of their clogged arteries (动脉阻塞)  may be more likely to stay healthy than people who are not. Researchers studied just over 3,500 people. These people were between 40 and 60 years of age. Each person had at least one risk for heart disease, but no signs. The researchers divided these subjects into two groups. The first group received what was called usual care like taking medicine or talking with health care workers about heart disease. However, the members of the other group were shown pictures of their arteries. Researchers also gave them special guidance on why those pictures might be a sign of future health problems. One year later, the people who watched the images of their own arteries had less risk for heart disease than those who weren't shown the pictures. That is where the “pictures” part may help. Doctors warn that many people think they have healthy hearts but, actually, they do not. Clogged arteries can be a silent killer. It takes many years to develop and patients may show no signs until the condition is serious and difficult to treat. Because it is a silent killer, experts say patients only remember a small part of what their doctor tells them to do Seeing a picture is much more effective. To use a popular English expression, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Smoking, an unhealthy habit, and being short of exercise increase the risk of heart attacks. Exercising for at least 30 minutes every day of the week will help to prevent heart disease. Eating at least five servings(份) of fruit and vegetables a day, and limiting your salt intake to less than one spoon a day, also helps to prevent heart attacks. 21.What can we learn from the second paragraph? A.Both of the two groups received so-called usual care. B.More than 3,500 people of all ages took part in the study. C.Those people who attended the research might have heart disease. D.Heart disease is more difficult to treat without medicine. 22.What is the influence of seeing the arterial picture on heart disease? A.It can make people eat more. B.It can be a silent killer. C.It can lower the risk of heart disease. D.It has no effect on heart disease. 23.Why are clogged arteries a silent killer? A.Because some people are doubtful about what doctors say. B.Because the illness has a bad influence on people's brain health. C.Because clogged arteries can kill a person in a short time. D.Because people can’t feel the development of the disease. 24.What should we do to prevent heart attacks according to the text? A.Stop or avoid smoking. B.Take as much sugar as salt. C.Exercise once a week. D.Eat as many nuts as possible. 25.Which of the following is most likely to benefit from the findings? A.A food provider. B.A health helper. C.A safety researcher. D.A medicine seller. 根据第二段“Each person had at least one risk for heart disease, but no signs.(每个人都至少有一个患心脏病的风险因素,但没有症状。)” 根据第二段“One year later, the people who watched the images of their own arteries had less risk for heart disease than those who weren’t shown the pictures.(一年后,看过自己动脉图像的人患心脏病的风险比未看图片的人更低。)” 根据第三段“Clogged arteries can be a silent killer. It takes many years to develop and patients may show no signs until the condition is serious and difficult to treat.(动脉阻塞可能是无声的杀手。 根据最后一段“Smoking, an unhealthy habit, and being short of exercise increase the risk of heart attacks.(吸烟,一种不健康的习惯,和缺乏锻炼会增加心脏病发作的风险。)” 故选A项。 25. 根据文章第一段“When it comes to having a healthy body, seeing may be believing. Experiments suggest that people who are shown pictures of their clogged arteries (动脉阻塞)   may be more likely to stay healthy than people who are not.(说到拥有健康的身体,眼见为实。 Passage 3 (24-25高一下·天津东丽·期中)If you feel at present that you don’t have enough friends in your life, one reason may be that you have let yourself become too busy to make time for the relationships you already have. Starting and keeping friendship requires effort and commitment. Many of us let our lives become so busy with work and other responsibilities that we don’t get around to scheduling time for pleasure and renewal (叙旧) with the friends, relatives and acquaintances we already have. Making the effort to call your friends more regularly and to accept more of the invitations you receive from others can improve your social life in a hurry! Are there any people you could call right now and be sure to receive a pleasant welcome? Are there people that you could count on to help you in time of difficulty? Can you have close talks with them? Do you have fun when you are together? Are you happy to have them in your life? If you haven’t seen much of them lately, is it because you have become too busy? Have you grown apart? Is there an argument? If the main reason you haven’t been getting together with the people you already know is that you have got too busy, take a good look at how you spend your time. Compare it with your real values and priorities in life. Is your busy lifestyle really bringing you the quality of life that you want? If you have become too busy for friends, why has this happened? Are you seeking material joys in your life at the expense of relationships with other human beings? Have you allowed your time to be overspent because you never say “No” to anyone? Do you insist on doing things yourself that could be appointed to others? If so, why? Do you believe that everything depends on you? Examine whether the way you are now spending your time accurately reflects your deepest values and priorities. Make sure that you schedule adequate time for the things that are truly most important to you. If you really want to keep friends in your life, make a space in your schedule and a space in your heart for them. 26.In this passage the author mainly discusses . A.how to balance friendship and work B.how to spend our spare time C.whether we should keep friendship D.whether we should invite friends to dinner regularly 27.Which of the following doesn’t mean a good relationship? A.You have someone to count on when you are in trouble. B.You have someone to have close talks with. C.You have fun when you are with someone. D.You feel depressed with others in life. 28.The reason why you have become too busy for friends may be the following EXCEPT that A.you spend too much time seeking material joys in your life B.you feel it difficult to keep friendship C.you stick to doing everything all by yourself D.you never refuse whatever other people ask you to do 29.What does the underlined word “priorities” mean? A.things that should be dealt with first B.things that should be overlooked C.things that should be kept forever D.things that should be reviewed repeatedly 30.Which would be the best title for the text? A.Are you too busy for friendship? B.Are you too busy with work? C.How to spend your time D.How to make new friends 【答案】26.A 27.D 28.B 29.A 30.A 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。 根据第一段中的“If you feel at present that you don’t have enough friends in your life, one reason may be that you have let yourself become too busy to make time for the relationships you already have. 故选A项。 27. 根据第四段中的“Are there people that you could count on to help you in time of difficulty? Can you have close talks with them? Do you have fun when you are together? 根据第七段中的“Are you seeking material joys in your life at the expense of relationships with other human beings? Have you allowed your time to be overspent because you never say “No” to anyone? Do you insist on doing things yourself that could be appointed to others? 根据第六段中的“Compare it with your real values and priorities in life. Is your busy lifestyle really bringing you the quality of life that you want? 故选A项。 30. 通读全文,尤其是首段“If you feel at present that you don’t have enough friends in your life, one reason may be that you have let yourself become too busy to make time for the relationships you already have. 故选A项。 主题02 人与社会 Passage 1 (24-25高一下·天津南开·期中)A Look at the Festivals This Summer The Firegathering 18-20 May The Firegathering festival returns to an unidentified place somewhere in the Sussex countryside this May. The ticket price is a very agreeable £40, an amount that the organizers promise covers only the costs of staging (筹办) the event. As well as the night-club singers and dancers and circus performers, you can expect live performances from local stars. If this looks like it might be right for you, you’d be well advised to book your ticket soon; the event has sold out every year since its beginning four years ago. Sheep Music 20-22 July Sheep Music started life as a garden party and has developed into a full-scale (全面的) community event. Even though the advertising has always been limited to word of mouth, the huge number of people two years ago left organizers worried that the large crowds could ruin the festival’s family feel. Luckily July sees the return of this brilliant party. The climax (高潮) comes in the shape of Saturday night’s full-scale parade that you just would not expect to happen in the otherwise sleepy Welsh borders. The Big Chill 3-5 August Ten years on and The Big Chill could very well be close to becoming a big pop festival like Glastonbury. That said, the many thousands in attendance are still able to relax in the beautiful Eastnor deer park and listen to plenty of music that would otherwise pass them by. Families have always been given a warm welcome and it’s fair to say that The Big Chill is probably the most child-friendly of all the medium-sized festivals. If you’ve never been, you should certainly go. Summer Sundae 10-12 August Although only a year old this summer, Summer Sundae has quickly inspired the imaginations of Leicesteks music lovers. Last year’s event was a success, noted by more than a few mentions at the UK Festival Awards. It is set in the impressive grounds of De Montfort Hall. Although the performers are still to be confirmed, the cabins (小屋) are sure to be there. These small buildings are made from wood and carpets, storage space, and can fit a family for the night. 11.What can we learn about The Firegathering? A.The festival will take place in a park. B.No profits will be made from the festival. C.The audience will be more than expected. D.A lot of national stars will perform at the festival. 12.What is the most exciting part of Sheep Music? A.The garden party. B.The advertisement. C.The family feel. D.The parade. 13.The Big Chill is the best choice for those who ________. A.like a completely free show B.want to experience the family feel C.want to take their children to a festival D.tend to enjoy the light music and relax themselves 14.What do we know about Summer Sundae? A.It’s a community event. B.Its performers are fixed. C.It will provide the audience with places for the night. D.It is set in several halls and cabins. 15.What is the similarity of these festivals? A.They entertain audience with music. B.They have a long history. C.They need advance booking. D.They can be compared with Glastonbury. 根据第一则广告中的“The ticket price is a very agreeable £40, an amount that the organizers promise covers only the costs of staging (筹办) the event.(门票价格是非常合适的40英镑,组织者承诺这个价格只包括举办活动的费用。)” 根据第二则广告中的“The climax (高潮) comes in the shape of Saturday night’s full-scale parade that you just would not expect to happen in the otherwise sleepy Welsh borders.(高潮部分以周六晚上的盛大游行形式呈现,而这样的游行活动,你压根儿不会料到会出现在平日里一片宁静的威尔士边境地区。)” 根据The Big Chill部分“Families have always been given a warm welcome and it’s fair to say that The Big Chill is probably the most child-friendly of all the medium-sized festivals.(家庭向来都会受到热烈欢迎,公平地说,The Big Chill可能是所有中型节日活动中最适宜儿童参与的。)” 根据Summer Sundae部分的“These small buildings are made from wood and carpets, storage space, and can fit a family for the night.(这些小建筑由木材和地毯、存储空间组成,可以容纳一个家庭过夜。)” 故选A。 Passage 2 (24-25高一下·天津·期中)English is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Now even Antarctica, the only continent with no permanent human inhabitants, is being altered by us. A study found that the increasing human presence in Antarctica is causing more snow melting — bad news for a frozen world already battling the effects of human-caused global warming. Black carbon, the dark, dusty pollution that comes from burning fossil fuels, has settled in locations where tourists and researchers spend a lot of time, scientists found. Even the smallest amount of the dark pollutant can have a significant impact on melting because of its very low reflectivity: things that are light in color, like snow, reflect the sun’s energy and stay cool; things that are dark, like black carbon, absorb the sun’s energy and warm up. “The snow albedo (反射率) effect is one of the largest uncertainties in regional and global climate modeling right now,” Alia Khan,a snow and ice scientist at Western Washington University, told CNN.“ That’s one of the motivations for the study, to quantify the impact of black carbon on regional snow melting, which is important for quantifying the role of black carbon in the global loss of snow and ice.” “Antarctica is sitting there pretty much silently all year. But, if it weren’t there, in the state that it is meant to be, the balance that we have in the climate system would no longer exist,” Marilyn Raphael,a geography professor said. “Antarctica’s sea ice is also important to maintain a balance in atmospheric circulation,” he added. As waters get warmer, some Antarctic creatures are finding their homes more and more unlivable. “Everything we do has consequences,” Raphael said. “We need to educate ourselves about those consequences, especially in systems that we know relatively little about. We have to be careful that we don’t upset the climate balance.” 11.In the passage, the word “altered” in “Now even Antarctica, the only continent with no permanent human inhabitants, is being altered by us.” probably means . A.protected B.changed C.discovered D.occupied 12.Why can the smallest amount of black carbon have a huge impact on melting? A.It is highly reflective. B.Its dark colour absorbs heat. C.It produces vast energy. D.It causes much pollution. 13.According to Alia, which of the following is one reason for conducting the study? A.To measure the impact of black carbon on melting. B.To quantify the cost of battling against climate change. C.To remove the uncertainties of global warming effects. D.To urge people to pay more attention to the melting problem. 14.What is the fourth paragraph mainly about? A.The change caused by the Antarctic ice melting. B.The methods to stop the Antarctic ice melting. C.The significance of the Antarctic being in its normal state. D.The sufferings Antarctic creatures are experiencing. 15.What did Raphael advise people to do? A.Reduce tourist numbers. B.Face the consequences. C.Acquire professional education. D.Stop disturbing the climate. 根据第一段中的“A study found that the increasing human presence in Antarctica is causing more snow melting — bad news for a frozen world already battling the effects of human-caused global warming.(一项研究发现,人类在南极的活动日益增多,导致更多积雪融化——这对一个已经在应对人类造成的全球变暖影响的冰冻世界来说是个坏消息。)” 根据文章第二段中的“Even the smallest amount of the dark pollutant can have a significant impact on melting because of its very low reflectiveness: like snow, reflect the sun's energy and stay cool; things that are dark, like black carbon, absorb the sun's energy and warm up.(甚至最少量的深色污染物也会对融化产生重要的影响,因为它的反射率非常低:颜色较浅的物体,如雪,反射太阳的能量并保持凉爽;黑暗的东西,如黑碳,吸收太阳的能量并变暖)”可知,由于能够吸收热量,黑碳对融化会产生巨大的影响。故选B项。 13. 根据第三段中的“That’s one of the motivations for the study, to quantify the impact of black carbon on regional snowmelt, which is important for quantifying the role of black carbon in the global loss of snow and ice.(这是这项研究的动机之一,量化黑碳对区域融雪的影响,这对于量化黑碳在全球冰雪损失中的作用非常重要)”可知,在研究过程中,量化黑碳对融雪的影响是十分巨大的。故选A项。 14. 根据第四段中的““Antarctica is sitting there pretty much silently all year. Since 2016, the areas around San Lucas have been in danger because gold miners and coca planters make more money than coffee farmers. To help out, a group called WebConserva has started a project to establish connections between local coffee farmers and a network of buyers across the nation. This plan is designed to not only enhance the market reach for the farmers’ produce but also to significantly increase their earnings. By doing this, WebConserva is creating a way for farmers to keep growing coffee, which in turn serves as a protective boundary around the forests, ensuring the preservation (保护) of the area’s rich biodiversity (生物多样性). At present, 10 families are part of the project, growing coffee on 400 hectares (公顷) of land. WebConserva hopes that eventually, this number will grow to 200 families. If that happens, they could help save 20,000 hectares of forest that hasn’t been touched by humans. The families have promised not to cut down any trees to make more space for their crops or to hunt the animals that live there. In return, they get paid $300 when they sell 125 kilograms of coffee. Arcadio Barajas is a testament (证明) to the project’s impact. His coffee farm sets up a barrier between cattle farms and forests where wild animals live, thus reducing the possibility of conflict between cattle farmers and wild animals. “Cutting down the forest to plant coca and killing wildlife were against my faith, and now I feel that growing coffee lets me be a good guardian of the land,” he said. Amnobis Romero, once a coca grower and miner, has turned a new leaf. “Many families depended on illegal activities to support their children years ago. Now, we feel it a duty to look after this biodiversity and leave it for future generations,” he said. People who care about nature want to make San Lucas a national park to keep it safe. But it’s taking a long time to make this happen. Carlos Valderrama, the person in charge of WebConserva, believes that their project can create a way of farming that will work well for many years to come. He said, “This project helps to keep the forests, all the different kinds of plants and animals, and the environment healthy, while also making life better for the people who grow coffee.” 16.What does the WebConserva project aim to achieve in the San Lucas Mountains? A.To encourage hunting to support local farmers. B.To increase the mining and coca farming industries. C.To link local coffee growers with buyers nationwide. D.To promote cutting down trees for coffee farming space. 17.What is a requirement for coffee growers to earn money from the WebConserva project? A.Stopping cattle farming near forests. B.Preventing wildlife harm and tree cutting. C.Changing to organic coffee within one year. D.Donating 10% of their land to national parks. 18.How does WebConserva protect wild areas in San Lucas? A.By expanding cattle farms. B.By replacing forests with coffee farms. C.By building physical fences around forests. D.By supporting coffee farming as a protection tool. 19.Why does the author mention Arcadio Barajas and Arnobis Romero? A.To explain the government’s slow action. B.To show coffee farming is more profitable than coca. C.To prove all farmers have abandoned illegal activities. D.To illustrate how the project transformed farmers’ attitudes. 20.What can we conclude from the passage? A.Families protecting wildlife will get very rich. B.WebConserva benefits ecosystems and local people’s life. C.Gold mining and coca farming have been replaced rapidly. D.San Lucas will develop into a national park in the near future. 【答案】16.C 17.B 18.D 19.D 20.B 【导语】这是一篇说明文。在哥伦比亚,WebConserva组织助咖啡农对接全国买家,既增其收入,又护圣卢卡斯山区野生区域及生物多样性。 16.细节理解题。根据第一段“To help out, a group called WebConserva has started a project to establish connections between local coffee farmers and a network of buyers across the nation.(为了提供帮助,一个名为“WebConserva”的组织启动了一个项目,旨在将当地咖啡种植户与全国的买家网络建立联系)”可知,WebConserva项目在圣卢卡斯山脉旨在将当地的咖啡种植户与全国的买家联系起来。故选C。 17.细节理解题。根据第二段“The families have promised not to cut down any trees to make more space for their crops or to hunt the animals that live there.(这些家庭承诺不会砍伐任何树木来为他们的农作物腾出更多空间,也不会捕杀生活在那里的动物)”可知,咖啡种植者要通过WebConserva项目获得收益,需要避免对野生动物造成伤害以及禁止砍伐树木。故选B。 18.细节理解题。根据第一段“By doing this, WebConserva is creating a way for farmers to keep growing coffee, which in turn serves as a protective boundary around the forests, ensuring the preservation (保护) of the area’s rich biodiversity (生物多样性).(通过这样做,网络保护组织正在为农民创造一种持续种植咖啡的方式,从而形成一道保护屏障,确保该地区丰富的生物多样性得以保护)”可知,WebConserva通过支持咖啡种植作为一项保护手段保护圣卢卡斯地区的野生动植物。故选D。 19.推理判断题。根据倒数第三段““Cutting down the forest to plant coca and killing wildlife were against my faith, and now I feel that growing coffee lets me be a good guardian of the land,” he said.(“砍伐森林来种植古柯并捕杀野生动物违背了我的信仰,而现在我觉得种植咖啡让我能够很好地守护这片土地。”他说。)”以及倒数第二段“Amnobis Romero, once a coca grower and miner, has turned a new leaf. “Many families depended on illegal activities to support their children years ago. Passage 3 (24-25高一下·天津东丽·期中)If you feel at present that you don’t have enough friends in your life, one reason may be that you have let yourself become too busy to make time for the relationships you already have. Passage 2 (24-25高一下·天津河北·期中)In Colombia, an environmental group is leading a project to save the wild areas in the San Lucas Mountains, with the invaluable assistance of local coffee growers. / 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
