Playing is a key part of the learning process for almost all of the children. One of the most important ways for them to play is role-playing. It means a child takes part in an activity in which he or she pretends to be another person.
Experts believe that role-playing can connect children’s brains to their learning. When children role-play, they must work out steps that need to be taken to complete a task and create plans to act out a story. These activities can develop their spoken language skills. They are able to organize others and give directions.
Role-playing can also develop children’s social skills. Children have different roles in group activities. Some are leaders while others are followers. Sometimes the children will disagree, so they must learn to compromise with each other. That is to say, they need to accept something a little different from what they really want so that both sides are happy in the end.
Role-playing can also help develop children’s imagination. For example, boys may pretend to shave (刮胡子) like their fathers. Girls often pretend to be mothers to do some daily tasks, like caring for young babies. Sometimes children may imagine belonging to a group of superheroes or copy real-life situations. They might dress up as different roles. Another example is that they perform stories they read in books.
What’s more, role-playing can help children deal with certain feelings. For example, when they go to school for the first time or go to the doctor. If children role-play situations like these, the fear that they experience when doing these actions in reality often becomes less. So experts encourage parents to allow their children to role-play and take part in these activities to help their children control their fears.
36. What do children do when role-playing?
A. They receive things from their leaders.
B. They follow the teacher’s steps and plan to finish a task.
C. They prefer acting as superheroes rather than as their parents.
D. They act out what happens in daily life or in stories from books.

A. give up something to reach an agreement B. express opinions clearly

第二节 阅读表达(共5题;每题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,简略回答问题。
It can be really awkward (尴尬的) if someone sees you talking to yourself. But don’t feel bad about it! Talking to yourself actually has a lot of benefits (益处).
You probably know that thinking is good for the brain. It helps us do things like making plans and managing our feelings. Speaking out loud is like showing this quiet inner (内部的) speech. It can help us do better in different areas like school, sports and work.
When encouragement comes from oneself, it adds to self-confidence. A 2009 study invited 72 tennis players to take part in some matches. Researchers put the players into two groups: one group that said nothing while playing, and the other that talked to themselves while playing. They found that the self-talkers showed more confidence and played better than those in the silent group. Talking to yourself, especially in the third person, can also help us manage bad feelings. “Referring to (指代) yourself in the third person leads people to think about themselves more similarly to how they think about others,” said Jason Moser, a professor from Michigan State University, US. This can help us see things from a different point of view, especially when we’re feeling sad or angry.
Self-talk also helps improve memory. Researchers tested four different ways to memorize things: reading silently, reading aloud, listening to someone else read and listening to a recording of oneself reading. Those who read out loud recalled (回忆) the information the best, researchers said in their study published in the journal Memory. It’s because the information is likely to become long-term memory if it is said out loud.

42. What can help us do better in different areas?

例文:
Boys and girls,
I’m very delighted to have the chance to share my ideas on how to protect the environment. As is known to all, the environment around us is getting worse and worse.
What can we do to help? First, don’t throw rubbish into rivers. Clean water is important for all living things. Second, save water. Turn off the tap when we brush teeth. Third, recycle things like paper, bottles and plastic. We can reuse them to make new things. Fourth, plant more trees. Trees make the air clean and fresh.
I hope everyone can take action from now on. Let’s work together to protect the environment. A small step from each of us can make a big difference!

I still remember what I was like when I was a little girl. I usually lost my pencils, erasers or other school things. I even lost six pencils in one day. To prevent waste, my mother came up with a rule to follow: return the old one for a new one. After using up pencils, I had to ask my mom for help, “Mom, I need a new pencil.”
She often said, “That’s OK, dear, I will give you a new pencil after you show me your old one.” However, when I lost the old pencil, I needed to pay my mom two yuan for it. Then I was allowed to have a new pencil.
From then on, I realized that I should take care of my school things. If I lost them, I had to buy them from my mom. Her rule worked quickly.
At first, it was difficult for me to put my things in the right places. But I didn’t have much pocket money to make up for my bad habit. So I began to write some words on a piece of paper and put it on my desk to remind myself. The way was helpful and I kept it in mind every day. Over time, it was easier for me to put things away than before. I naturally developed the good habit.
In my opinion, it is very important for us teenagers to learn how to take care of ourselves. A good small habit such as putting things in the right places, can make a difference to our life.

37. What does the underlined word “compromise” in Paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. give up something to reach an agreement B. express opinions clearly
C. say sorry to someone to start a conversation D. talk happily
38. What does the writer probably agree?
A. It is hard to develop imagination if children role-play.
B. Parents can role-play with their children to help them deal with fears.
C. Children are encouraged to support others’ ideas in group activities.
D. It is dangerous for children to role-play.
39. What is the structure of the passage?
A. ①②—③④⑤ B. ①—②③④⑤ C. ①②③④—⑤ D. ①②③—④⑤
40. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A. Is Role-Playing Risk-free? B. Is Role-Playing Leaders’ Game?
C. Role-Playing in Child Development D. Role-Playing in Family Communications
