Which of the following is necessary for after-school book club sessions? A. Completing recommended reading. B. Attending on a regular basis. C. Joining in the discussions. D. Using Google Classroom. B As long as I can remember having a phone in my hand, I’ve been a terrible replier. The sentence “Sorry, I missed this.” has quickly become a regular part of my texting vocabulary. When a new group chat is created, my friends will certainly come to laugh at my inability to respond to a simple question within hours. However, I’m not a horrible replier in all aspects of my life. In fact, I pride myself on my quick response when it comes to work emails and my mum. “Call me instead,” I tell my friends. They know if it’s urgent (紧急的) and they need me, I’ll pick up and always be there. But if I read a message and categorize it as non-urgent, then it’s a different story. When it comes to group chats, the conversations move so rapidly that if I’m not present for the first five minutes of the discussion, I’ve suddenly missed 67 messages about a party, a breakup, a comment on the latest movie — it’s easy to fall behind, and I do. I want to stress that I love my friends and I am grateful to be included in all of their group chats. I simply find it overwhelming (令人不知所措的) to keep up with the endless messages throughout the day. In these moments, I sometimes feel like throwing my phone into a lake. I recently asked my friend Tully how she felt about my poor texting habits. “You take three to five business days to respond if we’re lucky,” she tells me. “But to be fair,” she adds, “you always show up when we need you. You’re usually the one driving 40 minutes across town to see us. So, we can handle the group chat silence in return for that kind of friendship.” At this moment, I think about each friend’s role in the group — the frequent (频繁的) texter, the caller, the non-responder and how we all communicate and contribute to the group in different ways, all expressing love in different ways. 4. What is the author’s typical response to friends’ messages? A. Responding through calls. B. Staying silent in group chats. C. Apologizing for late replies. D. Avoiding giving a clear answer. 5. Why do group chats trouble the author? A. He often feels being ignored. B. The topics change too fast. C. He joins too many group chats. D. The messages grow too fast. 6. What does Tully think of the author? A. He is a careful driver. B. He is a dependable friend. C. He should be more thoughtful. D. He should be more active in group chats. 7. What message does the author want to give us in the last paragraph? A. Be a quick responder in group chats. B. Face-to-face communication matters. C. Friendship is shown in different ways. D. Too much texting can harm a relationship. C Joe Natuman watches for falling leaves and new shoots on trees as a sign it’s time to garden. Then, when a southern wind begins to blow in his small village in Vanuatu’s Tafea Province, he is the first to plant potatoes. Soon, others will follow his lead. Like his ancestors, Natuman is a tupunus, meaning he was born into a family trained to understand how natural forces impact agriculture and wellbeing. As a tupunus, Natuman is respected for his knowledge and ability to use weather to help his community. But in Vanuatu, the traditional practice is endangered. Part of the problem is a loss of local languages and the knowledge that is stored with them. Young people increasingly attend school away from their village and spend less time learning from elders. Meanwhile, the environment is changing as once easily found plants become harder to find due to cattle farming, forest loss and climate change. Now, efforts are underway to preserve that knowledge. Professor K. David Harrison specialises in endangered languages. Vanuatu is home to about 138 languages. Some are spoken by as few as 900 people but have richly nuanced (精确细腻的) vocabularies describing the natural and spiritual worlds. Many of the concepts are difficult or impossible to translate into English because equivalents (对应词) don’t exist. Working with local communities, Harrison has created eight talking dictionaries that are used to document languages and record native environmental knowledge and have proved transformative for speakers of the mostly unwritten languages. Harrison has also been studying wind knowledge in Vanuatu. It includes the use of “wind compasses (罗盘)”, which has been observed and documented for centuries. These are not physical objects but rather systems used for naming and understanding specific winds. By using them, a tupunus will be able to sense how the direction and strength of a wind may indicate the presence of a particular fish species or favourable crop planting conditions. Harrison says studying Vanuatu culture can help us understand what’s happening with the planet. 8. What is the role of Joe Natuman in his community? A. Studying local plants. B. Predicting the weather. C. Guiding farming practices. D. Promoting new gardening skills. 9. What does paragraph 3 mainly explain? A. How elders are passing down their wisdom. B. How climate change is influencing Vanuatu. C. Why young people are leaving their village. D. Why ancient knowledge in Vanuatu is disappearing. 10. What can be learned about Harrison’s effort in Vanuatu? A. It helps keep local languages alive. B. It helps simplify complex vocabularies. C. It involves developing writing systems. D. It involves translating local languages into English. 11. Which best describes the function of “wind compasses”? A. A family tradition. B. A direction guide. C. An information provider. D. An observation tool. D AI chatbots can mimic the style of famous poets like William Shakespeare well enough to trick many human readers, according to a new paper published in Scientific Reports. In addition, many study participants even preferred the chatbot’s poetry over the works of celebrated writers. Researchers asked AI to generate poems in the style of well-known authors like Walt Whitman, T.S. Eliot, Emily Dickinson, and William Shakespeare. Then, they asked 1,634 participants to read ten poems — five written by a human poet, and five written by the chatbot in the style of that same human poet — and identify which poems were fake and which were real. The results? Participants guessed correctly around 46 percent of the time — barely better than by chance. In a second experiment, another group of participants rated poems on 14 qualities, ranging from rhythm (韵律) to originality. Some were told whether the poem was written by AI or a human, while others were not. As a result, those who believed they were reading human-written poems rated them higher than those who believed they were reading AI-created poems — regardless of what they were actually reading. But the team also uncovered a surprise: The participants who weren’t told about authorship actually gave higher ratings, on average, to AI-produced poems. Why do readers seem to prefer AI-created poetry? The researchers suggest that AI poems may be more straightforward to understand. Because AI-produced poems cannot match the complexity of human-authored verse (韵文), they may communicate themes and emotions more clearly to non-expert readers. Beyond the themes and emotions, AI poems were also simpler in terms of their overall form and style. The study’s findings seem to confirm many people’s concerns that AI could replace human artists. Poet Dorothea Lasky says it’s not necessarily a bad thing that readers enjoyed the AI-created poems. “Poetry will always be necessary,” she says. “If people favored AI poems, then that, to me, is beautiful. I feel there is room for all poets — even robot poets.” 12. What does the underlined word “mimic” in paragraph 1 mean? A. Copy. B. Improve. C. Criticize. D. Challenge. 13. What was a surprising result of the second experiment? A. Participants were able to identify AI-produced poetry correctly. B. Participants unaware of the authorship rated AI poems higher. C. Participants rated poems thought to be human-written lower. D. Participants found AI-created poems less emotional. 14. Why are AI poems easier to read? A. They include shared experiences. B. They feature a conversational tone. C. They are direct in both form and content. D. They use pleasant rhythms and lively imagery. 15. How does Dorothea Lasky look at the study’s findings? A. She is angry at readers’ preferences. B. She sees value in AI-created poetry. C. She hopes for more variety in human poetry. D. She believes human artists cannot be replaced. Podcasts (播客) are a powerful tool for anyone learning English as a second language. I was unable to contain my curiosity any longer. I opened it. It was a brand new laptop(笔记本电脑). I had scored straight As for my O-level examination and this was my reward. I had always envied my friends who were exchanging news about chat rooms, instant messaging and e-mailing, all of which I knew nothing about. Now I was going to find out. It started out simply enough. I was searching for some information online when I came across a social networking site. Soon I became addicted to chatting with my new-found friend on the Internet. I began to spend more and more time on YouTube and became enslaved by Facebook and Twitter. I had never imagined that the day would come when I would be stuck by the glowing screen before me. Whenever I didn’t surf these social networking sites, I would be going through conversation about boring things or fashion websites. As time passed, I realized that I was addicted to the Internet. During weekends, when I had more time on my hands, I could easily spend a few hours on my laptop. It came to a point where I chose to lock myself in my room, refusing to come out and take part in family discussions. I preferred to stay connected to the people I befriended on the Internet although I had never met them. Soon I was spending the early hours of the morning surfing the Internet. Sleep was replaced by naps(打盹) and my grades at school also dropped quickly. It was about this time that my parents started voicing their disapproval. It became obvious to them that I was spending too much time on the Internet. I was asked to decrease my usage of the laptop. Yet, however hard I tried, I was unable to pull myself away, unable to end my chat sessions, and unable to concentrate on my lessons. I was desperate for just another click, just another look at my e-mail or message board. Then one day, my father took away my laptop. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I promised my parents that I would turn over a new leaf. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 琼海市嘉积中学2025—2026学年度第二学期高二年级随堂练习(一) 英语科试题 (时间:120分钟 满分:150分) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 听下面5段录音。 1.What is the speakers’ plan for dinner tonight? C 5. D 6. B 7. 根据第一段“The sentence “Sorry, I missed this.” has quickly become a regular part of my texting vocabulary.(“对不起,我没看到。”这句话已经迅速成为了我短信交流中常用的表达方式之一)”可知,作者对朋友的留言通常会为回复延迟而道歉。故选C。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“When it comes to group chats, the conversations move so rapidly that if I’m not present for the first five minutes of the discussion, I’ve suddenly missed 67 messages about a party, a breakup, a comment on the latest movie — it’s easy to fall behind, and I do.(说到群聊的话,交流的速度实在太快了。如果我在讨论开始的前五分钟还没上线,那么我就会突然错过关于聚会、分手、对最新电影的评论等多达67条消息——很容易就会掉队,而我也确实会这样)”可知,群聊会让作者感到烦恼,因为消息更新得太快了。故选D。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段““But to be fair,” she adds, “you always show up when we need you. You’re usually the one driving 40 minutes across town to see us. So, we can handle the group chat silence in return for that kind of friendship.”(“不过说实话,”她接着说道,“每次我们需要你的时候,你都会准时出现。你通常会驱车40分钟从很远的地方赶来见我们。所以,为了这份情谊,我们也能忍受群聊中的沉默。”)”可知,塔利认为作者是个值得信赖的朋友。故选B。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“At this moment, I think about each friend’s role in the group — the frequent (频繁的) texter, the caller, the non-responder and how we all communicate and contribute to the group in different ways, all expressing love in different ways.(此刻,我回想起每个朋友在小组中的角色——那些频繁发消息的人、打电话的人、不回复消息的人,以及我们所有人如何以不同的方式相互交流并为这个小组做出贡献,而这一切都以不同的方式表达了爱意)”可知,作者在最后一段想要传达友谊的表现形式各不相同。故选C。 C Joe Natuman watches for falling leaves and new shoots on trees as a sign it’s time to garden. C 9. D 10. A 11. 根据第一段“Joe Natuman watches for falling leaves and new shoots on trees as a sign it’s time to garden. Then, when a southern wind begins to blow in his small village in Vanuatu’s Tafea Province, he is the first to plant potatoes. Soon, others will follow his lead.(乔·纳图曼留意着树叶的飘落和树上新长出的嫩枝,以此来判断是时候开始园艺活动了。随后,当一股来自南部的风开始在他所居住的瓦努阿图塔费省的小村庄里吹拂时,他便是第一个开始种植土豆的人。很快,其他人也会效仿他的做法)”以及第二段“As a tupunus, Natuman is respected for his knowledge and ability to use weather to help his community.(作为一名图普努斯人,纳图曼因其丰富的知识以及利用天气为社区服务的能力而备受尊敬)”可知,乔·纳图曼在他所在的社区中指导农业生产方式。 根据第三段“But in Vanuatu, the traditional practice is endangered. Part of the problem is a loss of local languages and the knowledge that is stored with them. Young people increasingly attend school away from their village and spend less time learning from elders. Meanwhile, the environment is changing as once easily found plants become harder to find due to cattle farming, forest loss and climate change.(但在瓦努阿图,这种传统习俗正面临消亡的危险。造成这一问题的部分原因是当地语言的丧失以及与之相伴的知识的流失。年轻人越来越多地离开村庄去上学,花在向长辈学习上的时间也越来越少。与此同时,环境也在发生变化,因为曾经容易找到的植物由于放牧、森林砍伐和气候变化而变得越来越难以寻觅)”可知,第三段主要阐述了为什么瓦努阿图的古老知识正在消失。故选D。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段“Professor K. David Harrison specialises in endangered languages. Vanuatu is home to about 138 languages. Some are spoken by as few as 900 people but have richly nuanced (精确细腻的) vocabularies describing the natural and spiritual worlds. These are not physical objects but rather systems used for naming and understanding specific winds. By using them, a tupunus will be able to sense how the direction and strength of a wind may indicate the presence of a particular fish species or favourable crop planting conditions. Harrison says studying Vanuatu culture can help us understand what’s happening with the planet.(它包括对“风向罗盘”的运用,这一体系已被观察和记载了数百年。它们并非实体物品,而是一套用于命名和解读特定风向的系统。借助这些体系,图普努斯能够根据风向与风力,判断出某种鱼类的踪迹,或是适宜耕种的条件。哈里森表示,研究瓦努阿图文化有助于我们理解地球正在发生的变化)”可知,其主要功能是信息提供者。故选C。 D AI chatbots can mimic the style of famous poets like William Shakespeare well enough to trick many human readers, according to a new paper published in Scientific Reports. A 13. B 14. C 15. 故选A。 根据第三段“But the team also uncovered a surprise: The participants who weren’t told about authorship actually gave higher ratings, on average, to AI-produced poems.(但该团队还意外发现了一件事:那些未被告知作者身份的参与者,实际上对人工智能创作的诗歌给出的评分平均值要更高一些)”可知,第二个实验的意外结果是不清楚作者身份的参与者对人工智能创作的诗歌评价更高。 根据第四段“Because AI-produced poems cannot match the complexity of human-authored verse (韵文), they may communicate themes and emotions more clearly to non-expert readers. Beyond the themes and emotions, AI poems were also simpler in terms of their overall form and style.(因为由人工智能生成的诗歌无法与人类创作的韵文达到同样的复杂程度,所以它们在向非专业人士传达主题和情感方面可能更为清晰。除此之外,从整体形式和风格来看,人工智能创作的诗歌也更为简单)”可知,人工智能创作的诗歌更容易让人理解因为它们在形式和内容上都直白清晰。故选C。 【15题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段“Poet Dorothea Lasky says it’s not necessarily a bad thing that readers enjoyed the AI-created poems. “Poetry will always be necessary,” she says. “If people favored AI poems, then that, to me, is beautiful. I feel there is room for all poets-even robot poets.”(诗人多罗泰娅·拉斯基表示,读者喜欢由人工智能创作的诗歌并不一定是件坏事。她说道:“诗歌永远都是必要的。”“如果人们偏爱人工智能创作的诗歌,那在我看来这就是很美好的事情。我觉得即便是机器人诗人,也有其存在的空间。”)”可知,多罗泰娅·拉斯基认为人工智能创作的诗歌具有价值。故选B。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Podcasts (播客) are a powerful tool for anyone learning English as a second language. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文: Then one day, my father took away my laptop. I begged and even quarreled with him. I fought for a long time, but whatever I did, it was no use. Dad had made up his mind-he wouldn’t allow me to use it. Over time, I realized that Dad and Mum had always wanted the best for me. It was then that I decided to take the big step—to conquer my Internet addiction. Quitting was harder than I expected. But with great determination, I knew that I would be able to do it. I promised my parents that I would turn over a new leaf. So I made a detailed plan for my everyday life. I managed to change my daily routine. After I got up, the first thing I did was running for half an hour, which could help me forget about going online. After school, I would play basketball with my classmates, which made me healthier and stronger. All this helped me conquer my addiction. Now my life has returned to normal and my grades have gone up again. 请求:beg/request/ask for ②.下决心:make up one’s mind/decide/determine ③.成功改变:manage to change/succeed in changing 情绪类 ①.生气:quarrel with/have words with ②.难的:hard/difficult 【点睛】[高分句型1].
