This novel tells of a boy and a girl from Nigeria who grow up and move to different countries. The story is a bit sad but also very funny at times. I like the characters because they seem like real people. The book shows how moving from one culture to another can give people great chances but also big troubles. I highly recommend it because it’s an interesting story with wonderful characters.

Re: Do you have any history book recommendations?by LinguaSpark» May 4th,2025,5:25 pm
Hi, Cayitam! I’d recommend Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari. It’s a fascinating introduction to human history, telling the story of humans from ancient days to today’s modern world. The book talks about big turning points in human history. Harari also asks interesting questions, such as whether things like money or nations are just “stories” we all believe in together. It’s an easy-to-read book that makes you think differently about history. Happy reading!

Reporter: What is the process of recycling?
Jerry: It starts with taking used materials that can be recycled to your local recycling center. Put them in the correct bin there. These will be reused as materials for a new purpose. Then, a recyclable product is turned back into a basic form that can be used to create a new and different product. Recycling efforts can greatly reduce additional waste that will not only harm the planet today, but future generations as well. The natural resources on our planet are limited, so we must make the most to conserve (节约使用), recycle and reuse whenever possible.
Reporter: What can we recycle?
Jerry: Not all materials are recyclable. Among the items that are recycled are paper towels, cardboard boxes, plastic containers, crayons, etc.
Reporter: Why do you think recycling is important?
Jerry: Recycling our waste makes us more responsible in the way we deal with it. Studies show that people who do this are more likely to cut down on buying things that are unnecessary. They think of how to deal with the packaging after use even before buying them. As a result, people end up saving money while also saving the planet.
Reporter: Oh, that reminds me, waste not, want not.
Jerry: That’s right. Recycling can also help develop communities. Many community groups raise money through reusing and recycling goods. They take our unwanted clothes, furniture and other household items to resell.
Reporter: Hopefully, our efforts will pay off because if we take care of our planet, it will take care of us.
1.This is most probably ▲ .
A.a private dialogue B.an introduction C.a public discussion D.an interview
2.Why does the reporter say “Oh, that reminds me, waste not, want not.”?
A.To introduce a new study about recycling.
B.To bring up a new topic for their discussion.
C.To show support for Jerry’s idea on recycling.
D.To express doubts about Jerry’s recycling plan.
3.What can we learn from the interview?
①Recycling efforts can help make better communities.
②Nature has its own cycle and can deal with the waste.
③Recycling is a journey of turning waste into new hope.
④A green-thinking customer thinks twice before buying.
A.①③④ B.②③④ C.①②③ D.①②④

Hi, Cayitam! I’d recommend Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari. It’s a fascinating introduction to human history, telling the story of humans from ancient days to today’s modern world. The book talks about big turning points in human history. Harari also asks interesting questions, such as whether things like money or nations are just “stories” we all believe in together. It’s an easy-to-read book that makes you think differently about history. Happy reading!

La La Land is a comedy musical movie. It’s about a jazz pianist and an actress who meet and fall in love while they are both trying to find success in Hollywood. This is the first musical I’ve ever seen and I found it surprising. I thought it would be a movie with some songs in it, but I didn’t know that most of the actors’ conversations would be sung, too. I didn’t like it when they sang to each other instead of just talking. I don’t recommend this movie unless you really like musicals.

3.What can we learn from the interview?
①Recycling efforts can help make better communities.
②Nature has its own cycle and can deal with the waste.
