This is a pea plant. What parts can you see? Ss: Stem, leaves, flowers, pods... T: Do you know how it grows? Today we’ll read Jeremy’s observation diary about his pea plant. 设计意图:通过直观图片激活学生对植物的认知,引入主题,激发阅读兴趣。 2. Vocabulary Preview Teach key words with pictures: bud: Show a small plant bud stem: Point to the stem of a plant bloom: Show a blooming flower observation diary: Show Jeremy’s diary sample 设计意图:提前扫清阅读词汇障碍,符合学生认知规律。 Step 2: Pre-reading T: Look at Jeremy’s diary. What information can we find in an observation diary? Ss: Date, weather, what the plant looks like... 设计意图:引导学生预测观察日记的结构,培养阅读预判能力。 Step 3: While-reading Activity 1: Skimming Task: Read Jeremy’s 3 diary entries quickly and answer: 1. What plant is Jeremy growing? (Pea plant) 2. How many stages of growth does he record?
