一、表建议的情态动词(should、could)
should 和 could 是情态动词,后接动词原形,可以用来表示提议或建议。

1.情态动词 should
should用来提建议时,意为“应该;应当;可以”,表达说话人的主观看法,认为做某事是合理、正确或明智的,带有一定的责任或义务意味,语气相对较强。其否定式是 shouldn’t,意为“不应当;不该”。
(1)should 句式结构
句式 构成
肯定句 主语 + should +动词原形 +其他.
否定句 主语 + shouldn’t +动词原形+其他.
一般疑问句 Should + 主语 + 动词原形+其他?
肯定回答:Yes, 主语 + should.
否定回答:No, 主语 + shouldn’t.
特殊疑问句 特殊疑问词 + should +主语+动词原形+其他?

注意
should 在以 why、who、how 等疑问词开头的问句中,表示拒绝、恼怒或惊奇。
e.g. Why should I help him? He’s never done anything for me.

could也可以用于提建议,意为“可以”,给出一种建议或可能性,不带有强制性,语气比can更委婉。

二、反身代词
表示反射或强调的代词叫作反身代词,有人称和数之分。它由第一人称、第二人称的形容词性物主代词和第三人称代词的宾格词尾加 -self 或 -selves 构成,意为“本”“本身”,为加强语气,也可意为“亲自”“自己”。

(1)反身代词作宾语
反身代词可放在及物动词(短语)或介词的后面作宾语,强调宾语和主语是相同的人或物。
①作及物动词(短语)的宾语,常用于 teach、hurt、enjoy、dress、buy、help、look after、take care of 等后面。
e.g. We must look after ourselves very well.
我们必须好好照顾自己。
He is teaching himself English.
他在自学英语。
2.反身代词的用法

②作介词的宾语,常用于 by、except、to、for 等后面。
e.g. Mary said to herself, “What should I do?”

(1)反身代词作宾语

反身代词在句中通常作名词或代词的同位语,意为“本身;亲自”。反身代词作主语的同位语时,应放在主语之后或句子末尾;作宾语的同位语时,应放在宾语之后。
e.g. Did you make the cake yourself?
这个蛋糕是你亲自做的吗?(作主语you的同位语)
I spoke to the manager himself.
