第一节
Dear Mike,
I’m really happy to hear that you want to try some special food from my hometown. I would strongly recommend jiaozi, one of the most popular local dishes.
Jiaozi are dumplings filled with meat and vegetables and can be boiled or fried in different ways. They taste fresh and delicious, especially when eaten with vinegar. More importantly, jiaozi stand for family reunion and happiness, so people often enjoy them together during festivals or weekends.
Trying jiaozi is not only a way to enjoy tasty food, but also a chance to understand local culture better. I’m sure you’ll love them.
Yours,
Li Hua
Ms. Davis approached me with the painting pieces. She praised its vivid colors, sincere emotions and my dedication. Head lowered, I shared my frustration: my parents dismissed my painting as useless. She took my hand and told me she’d faced similar parental opposition in youth but persisted secretly, proving art’s value. She proposed repairing the painting together and talking to my parents. With her help, we glued the pieces and she added details to hide cracks. That weekend, she visited my parents, showed my painting and explained painting relieved my stress and boosted creativity. Surprisingly, my parents agreed I could continue painting if it didn’t affect studies.
A month later, my cherry blossom alley painting was framed at the art exhibition. There a card read, “Art comes from the heart — never give up on your passion.” I thanked Ms. Davis, who credited my perseverance. Many admired the painting. My parents came, looked proud, and my mother apologized. Filled with joy, I realized good teachers protect dreams. Empowered by Ms. Davis’s support, I found the confidence to chase my dream while keeping up with my studies. I still paint in my spare time, and the repaired painting always reminds me of her encouragement.

A
Still seeking a destination for your holiday? We want to inform you of four best places that are probably a mere walk away from your home.
Highlands
This Scottish destination, only accessible on foot or by boat, is Britain’s last wilderness. Over a week, you’ll hike into the Black Hills, cross the peninsula north to south and set sail for hikes on Skye, Rum and Eigg. Finish each day at a beach-side lodge (小屋) with dinner at the award-winning restaurant next door.
Snowdonia
The Snowdonia Way, the only low-level long-distance route, was only created in 2017, and remains unnoticed on the ground. Join the new guided walking trip and you won’t need to concentrate on directions, just the fine views as you pass falls, forests, riversides and Roman roads.
Hadrian’s Wall
Walking along Hadrian’s Wall is like travelling back in time — and even more so if you do it in expert companion. Andante’s hike along the ancient barrier is accompanied by a historian every step of the way, who will point out every Roman road, fort, milecastle and inscription, and tell you all about Hadrian’s tactics and Roman daily life.
Dorset
The Isle of Purbeck is ideal for families: the walking is relatively gentle; the beaches are glorious; the range of other attractions varied; and the buses handy, if little legs get tired. Over a few days, mix rambling the coast and hills (routes are around five or six miles) with steam train rides and sea swims, playing knights at ruined Corfe Castle and fossil-hunting at Kimmeridge Bay.
21.What do we know about Highlands?
A.It is very modern. B.It is a guided trip.
C.It can be reached by bus. D.It provides quality dinner.
22.Which of the following is the best choice for families?

Since childhood, fried chicken had been my favorite food for some twenty years. I would have it at least three times a week, whether it was from a fast-food joint, a local diner, or even homemade. I planned my outings around places that served delicious fried chicken. There were times when I tried to cut back on it, especially when I started to gain some weight, but I always ended up giving in to my desire within a few days.
This year, a series of events changed my relationship with fried chicken forever. I began experiencing frequent stomachaches. Doctors couldn’t directly link these problems to fried chicken, but I noticed that every time I ate it, my discomfort worsened. Additionally, I started to realize that the once-mouthwatering smell and taste now left a heavy, greasy feeling in my mouth that I couldn’t ignore. One evening, after finishing a large bucket of fried chicken, I felt so sick that I couldn’t sleep well all night. That was the turning point. I decided that it was time to quit.
Why was it so hard to let go before? Is there really something addictive in fried chicken? While there’s no official “fried chicken addiction” listed in medical books, experts point out factors that could contribute to its allure. Dr. Johnson from a nutrition research center mentions two main elements: the high-fat content and the combination of spices, which makes us feel good and makes us want more. Gradually this circle becomes habitual over time.
Now, I’m on Day 35 of my “fried-chicken-free” journey. The first week was hard. I had strong desire and even felt a bit down at times. But as the days passed, I started to feel better. My stomach problems became less frequent, and I even noticed that I had more energy. I’m really proud of myself for breaking this long-standing habit. If I can overcome my love for fried chicken, I believe I can overcome any other challenging habit in my life.
24.What can we know about the author from Paragraph 1?
A.The author ate fried chicken occasionally.
B.The author had a deep and long-lasting love for fried chicken.
C.The author never worried about the health risks of eating fried chicken.
D.The author successfully reduced the intake of fried chicken several times.
25.What led the author to give up fried chicken?
A.A doctor’s direct warning about health.
B.The advice on a healthier diet from a friend.
C.A newfound dislike for the smell of chicken.
D.Health problems and an unpleasant feeling after eating.
26.Which of the following can replace the underlined word “allure” in Paragraph 3?
A.attraction B.combination
C.production D.appreciation
27.How does the author feel about giving up fried chicken?
A.Satisfied. B.Confused.
C.Annoyed. D.Impressed.
【答案】24.B 25.D 26.A 27.A
根据第一段“Since childhood, fried chicken had been my favorite food for some twenty years. I would have it at least three times a week, whether it was from a fast-food joint, a local diner, or even homemade. I planned my outings around places that served delicious fried chicken. (从孩提时代起,炸鸡就是我二十多年来最喜欢的食物。我每周至少会吃三次,不管是来自快餐店、当地餐馆,甚至是自家做的。我计划我的外出活动都是围绕那些提供美味炸鸡的地方。)”可知,作者对炸鸡有着深厚且持久的喜爱。故选B项。
25.细节理解题。根据第二段“I began experiencing frequent stomachaches.
根据划线词所在句“While there’s no official “fried chicken addiction” listed in medical books, experts point out factors that could contribute to its allure. (虽然医学书籍中没有官方列出的“炸鸡成瘾”,但专家指出了一些可能导致allure的因素。)”以及后文“Dr. Johnson from a nutrition research center mentions two main elements: the high-fat content and the combination of spices, which makes us feel good and makes us want more. (来自营养研究中心的约翰逊博士提到了两个主要因素:高脂肪含量和香料的组合,这让我们感觉良好,并让我们想要更多。)”可知,约翰逊博士提到的两个主要因素,即高脂肪含量和香料的组合,会让我们感觉良好并想要更多,这是导致我们喜欢炸鸡的因素,由此可推知,allure意为“吸引力”,与attraction意思相近。故选A项。
根据最后一段“Now, I’m on Day 35 of my “fried-chicken-free” journey. The first week was hard. I had strong desire and even felt a bit down at times. But as the days passed, I started to feel better. My stomach problems became less frequent, and I even noticed that I had more energy. I’m really proud of myself for breaking this long-standing habit. (现在,我已经坚持了35天不吃炸鸡了。第一周很艰难。我有强烈的欲望,有时甚至感到有点沮丧。但随着日子一天天过去,我开始感觉好多了。我的胃病不那么频繁了,我甚至注意到我有了更多的精力。我为打破这个长期的习惯而感到自豪。)”可知,作者对于戒掉炸鸡感到满意。故选A项。

Bako Motors, a newly-established Tunisian company, is looking to jump on the EV (electric vehicle) trend, while making use of one of Africa’s greatest natural resources — sunshine. Its compact cars and cargo vans have solar panels on their roofs, While the vehicles (交通工具) still have lithium (锂) batteries and can be charged (充电) at home or on the road, the solar panels give them access to a free energy source, charging the batteries directly. So far, the company has made just 100 vehicles but it plans to expand and increase exports over the coming year.
Founded in 2021, the company began making three-wheeled cargo vehicles, but has since moved to four-wheeled models. The B-Van, which can carry 400 kilograms of cargo and has a 100-to 300-kilometer range, is designed for logistics and last-mile delivery (配送), with prices starting at $8,500. The other is the Bee, a tiny 2-seat car with a 70-to 120-kilometer range and a max speed of 45 kilometers per hour. It’s specially designed toward daily, in-city trips and starts at $6,200.
Khaled Habaieb, head of Bako Motors, says that the company is also designing a third model, the X-Van, which will fit two passengers and have a larger cargo area. He points out that more than 40%of the parts of each vehicle are obtained locally, including the lithium-iron-phosphate batteries and steel. This helps to provide much-needed local jobs, Habaieb adds.
Currently Bako Motors is small, but it recently started building a second, larger factory in Tunisia, expected to open toward the end of 2026. It aims to produce up to 8,000 vehicles per year for Africa, the Middle East and Europe. “The potential market in Africa is about 1 million vehicles per year,” says Boubaker Siala, founder and CEO of Bako Motors. “We are targeting maybe 5% to 10% of this market.” He adds that the next five to 10 years will be the peak of the electric mobility transition (过渡): “We have to prepare ourselves for this transition and offer inexpensive and good products for the African citizen.”
28.What is the key feature of Bako Motors’ vehicles?
A.They have lithium batteries.
B.They can be charged at home.
C.They are the cheapest EVs in the world.
D.They come with solar panels on the roof.
29.Which model of Bako Motors is suitable for delivery in cities?
A.The three-wheeled cargo vehicle. B.The B-Van.
C.The Bee. D.The X-Van.
30.What is Boubaker Siala’s attitude towards the future of Bako Motors in Africa?
A.Doubtful. B.Indifferent. C.Serious. D.Optimistic.
31.What can we infer from the passage about Bako Motors?
A.Its new factory started production in 2025.
B.It plans to take up part of the African EV market.
C.It has already become a leading EV maker in Africa.
D.It is trying to provide more advanced cars for African users.
【答案】28.D 29.B 30.D 31.B

Over the past twenty years, more than one fifth of the world’s oceans have gotten darker, according to a study from the University of Plymouth. This is called “ocean darkening.” It happens when changes at the top of the ocean make it harder for sunlight to reach deeper waters.
The study, which was published in the journal Global Change Biology, found that 21% of the world’s oceans became darker between 2003 and 2022. The research team thinks this darkening is due to changes in algae, changes in sea surface temperatures, and artificial light.
The study showed that more than 9% of the ocean—an area about the size of Africa—has less light by over 50 meters (164 feet). Another 2.6% of the ocean has light reduced by over 100 meters (328 feet). While the full impacts are unclear, the team notes this could harm marine life and ecosystem services.
Dr. Thomas Davies, lead researcher of the study, said: “Previous research has shown that the color of the ocean’s surface has changed over the last twenty years, maybe because of changes in tiny sea creatures called plankton(浮游生物). But our study shows these changes cause widespread darkening, making less ocean available to animals dependent on sunlight and moonlight to live and reproduce.” Dr. Davies also said that ocean darkening could affect the air we breathe, the fish we eat, and how well we can fight climate change. “Our findings are truly disquieting.” he said.
Prof. Tim Smyth, who works at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory, said that some sea animals that need light might come closer to the surface because of these changes. This could lead to more competition for food and other resources. He also warned, “It could cause big changes in the whole marine ecosystem.”
32.What is ocean darkening caused by according to the research?
A.Increased deep-sea human activities.
B.Algae, sea temperature, and artificial light changes.
C.Expansion of marine species populations.
D.Reduced coastal artificial light.

【答案】32.B 33.A 34.C 35.C
根据文章第二段中的“The research team thinks this darkening is due to changes in algae, changes in sea surface temperatures, and artificial light.(研究小组认为,这种变暗是由于藻类、海面温度和人造光的变化造成的)”可知,海洋变暗是由藻类、海面温度和人造光的变化引起的。故选B项。
根据文章第三段“The study showed that more than 9% of the ocean—an area about the size of Africa—has less light by over 50 meters (164 feet). Another 2.6% of the ocean has light reduced by over 100 meters (328 feet).(研究表明,超过9%的海洋——面积大约相当于非洲——在50多米(164英尺)深的地方光线减少。另外2.6%的海洋光线减少了100多米(328英尺))”可知,作者提到“一个和非洲面积差不多大的区域”是为了强调海洋变暗的严重性。故选A项。
Davies also said that ocean darkening could affect the air we breathe, the fish we eat, and how well we can fight climate change.(戴维斯博士还说,海洋变暗可能会影响我们呼吸的空气、我们吃的鱼以及我们应对气候变化的能力)”可知,海洋变暗可能会影响人类呼吸的空气、食用的鱼类以及应对气候变化的能力,由此推测出,戴维斯博士认为这些发现是令人担忧的,所以“disquieting”的意思是“令人惊恐且令人担忧的”。故选C项。
Tim Smyth, who works at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory, said that some sea animals that need light might come closer to the surface because of these changes. This could lead to more competition for food and other resources.(在普利茅斯海洋实验室工作的蒂姆·史密斯教授说,由于这些变化,一些需要光的海洋动物可能会更靠近水面。这可能会导致对食物和其他资源的更多竞争)”可知,海洋变暗的一个潜在影响是增加对食物资源的竞争。故选C项。
第二节(共5小题:每小题2. 5分, 满分12. 5分)
阅读下面短文, 从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
If only the childhood chant “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me” were true! Anyone who’s been the target of unkind words will know that the wounds can be deep, painful, and long-lasting. The saying highlights two forms of bullying — physical and verbal. 36 It’s often referred to as relational aggression, making someone feel as if no one likes them. When this also involves deliberately freezing out one person from a friendship group, it’s known as social isolation or exclusion. If you’ve been feeling left out, here’s how to handle the situation:
Speak out
Standing up to bullying can be scary, especially in public. 37 Ask them if you’ve done anything to offend them and explain how their behaviour makes you feel.
38
If the thought of addressing the bullies yourself is too scary, consider confiding (吐露秘密) in a trusted adult. Teachers and school counsellors will have experience dealing with social exclusion. Sharing a series of examples will help them understand that this is a deliberate pattern of targeted behaviour, rather than simply a case of friends falling out or drifting apart.
Draw a line
Put yourself first and know your worth. If friends repeatedly leave you out, it might be time to turn the tables and walk away from them. There will be other people at school who would like to spend time with you. 39
All in all, there are always ways to shut it down if you’ re being shut out. Also, it’s worth remembering that it won’t last forever. School is just one of many periods in your life and doesn’t define you. 40 So make room to let the right ones in.
A.Seek support.
B.Stand together.
C.Give them a chance to become your friends instead.
D.But there’s another type that makes people feel just as bad.
E.Excluding people or freezing them out is never an OK thing to do.
F.Throughout the life you’ll meet lots of people and most won’t leave you out.
G.So, if you feel able to stay calm, you could approach the people behind it privately.
【答案】36.D 37.G 38.A 39.C 40.F
36.根据上文“The saying highlights two forms of bullying — physical and verbal.(这句话强调了两种形式的欺凌——肢体欺凌和言语欺凌)”以及后文“It’s often referred to as relational aggression, making someone feel as if no one likes them. When this also involves deliberately freezing out one person from a friendship group, it’s known as social isolation or exclusion. If you’ve been feeling left out, here’s how to handle the situation(这通常被称为关系攻击,让某人觉得好像没有人喜欢他们。当这也包括故意将一个人从朋友圈中排除出去时,这被称为社会隔离或排斥。如果你觉得自己被冷落了,下面是处理这种情况的方法)”可知,前一句提到两种形式的欺凌——身体上的和语言上的,后文章继续介绍了另一种形式的欺凌,即“社交隔离或排斥”。故D选项“但是还有另一种类型会让人感觉很糟糕”符合语境,故选D。
37.根据上文“Standing up to bullying can be scary, especially in public.(勇敢地面对欺凌可能会让人感到害怕,尤其是在公共场合)”以及后文“Ask them if you’ve done anything to offend them and explain how their behaviour makes you feel.(问他们你是否做了什么冒犯他们的事,并解释他们的行为让你感觉如何)”可知,前文说公开对抗霸凌很可怕,后文建议“私下询问对方是否被冒犯”。
38.根据本段内容“If the thought of addressing the bullies yourself is too scary, consider confiding (吐露秘密) in a trusted adult. Teachers and school counsellors will have experience dealing with social exclusion. Sharing a series of examples will help them understand that this is a deliberate pattern of targeted behaviour, rather than simply a case of friends falling out or drifting apart.(如果你觉得自己去对付那些欺负你的人太可怕,可以考虑找一个值得信任的成年人倾诉。教师和学校辅导员将有处理社会排斥的经验。分享一系列的例子将帮助他们理解这是一种故意的有针对性的行为模式,而不仅仅是朋友闹翻或疏远的情况)”可知,本段的主旨是寻找成年人倾诉,即寻求其他人的支持。故A选项“寻求支持”符合语境,故选A。
39.根据上文“Put yourself first and know your worth. If friends repeatedly leave you out, it might be time to turn the tables and walk away from them. There will be other people at school who would like to spend time with you.(把自己放在第一位,了解自己的价值。如果朋友总是把你排除在外,也许是时候扭转局面,离开他们了。学校里会有其他人愿意和你共度时光)”可知,上文提到“学校里会有其他人愿意和你共度时光”,推测本句鼓励建立新友谊。故C选项“给他们一个成为你朋友的机会”符合语境,故选C。
40.根据上文“All in all, there are always ways to shut it down if you’ re being shut out. Also, it’s worth remembering that it won’t last forever. School is just one of many periods in your life and doesn’t define you.(总而言之,如果你被拒之门外,总有办法破局。

I had a passion for painting, yet I never dared to show my works to anyone. My parents opposed this hobby, viewing it as a useless distraction from my college entrance exam preparations — their disapproval deepened my inferiority about my art. Many quiet late nights became my haven: I’d spread the canvas, dip the brush into soft colors, and let each stroke carry away overwhelming study pressure. I kept my paintbrushes and canvases hidden at the closet bottom, wrapped in an old cloth, only daring to take them out when everyone was fast asleep.
Last month, our school held an art exhibition, and my art teacher Ms. Davis encouraged us to participate. “Art is a way to express your soul — don’t be afraid to share your works,” she said with a warm smile. Her words stirred my heart, awakening the long-buried desire to let others see my creation. I spent a whole week painting the school’s cherry blossom alley in spring, my favorite spot to wander after class and admire pink petals dancing in the breeze. I mixed soft pinks and gentle whites, adding golden sunlight, pouring all my love for my school and longing for freedom into the piece. Then I signed my name on my painting in a very artistic way.
But as the submission deadline approached, I worried my work wasn’t good enough so that others would laugh at it, and feared my parents’ fierce disapproval if they found out. Hesitantly, I rolled up the painting and secretly threw it into the trash can on my way to class. With a weighty heart, I showed up for class the following day, every step feeling heavy. When Ms. Davis noticed I hadn’t turned in any work and asked after class, I lied, saying I hadn’t had time to finish. Later that afternoon, I passed the trash can and saw her standing there, carefully picking up the torn painting pieces and brushing off dust gently. My face burned instantly, and I stood rooted, unable to make a single move to flee. Guilt surged through me as she turned, holding the damaged painting, her eyes filled with sadness.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
Ms. Davis approached me with the painting pieces.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
A month later, my cherry blossom alley painting was framed at the art exhibition.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

25.What led the author to give up fried chicken?

26.Which of the following can replace the underlined word “allure” in Paragraph 3?

27.How does the author feel about giving up fried chicken?
A.Satisfied. B.Confused.

33.Why does the author mention “an area about the size of Africa” in paragraph 3?
A.To emphasize the seriousness of ocean darkening.
B.To compare ocean pollution between continents.
C.To criticize Africa’s environmental policies.
D.To explain algae reproduction rates.
34.What does the underlined word “disquieting” mean in paragraph 4 ?
A.Unclear and confusing. B.Exciting and positive.
C.Alarming and concerning. D.Predictable and expected.
35.What is a potential effect of ocean darkening according to Tim Smyth ?
A.A rise in deep-water oxygen levels.
B.The extinction of light-dependent species.
C.Increased competition for food resources.
D.Reduced artificial light pollution.

A
Still seeking a destination for your holiday?
A.Snowdonia. B.Dorset. C.Hadrian’s Wall. D.Highlands.
23.What do the four destinations have in common to the target readers?
A.They are very near. B.They are very far.
C.They are very cheap. D.They are very expensive.
