Tens of thousands of U.S. shelter animals are relocated yearly to escape euthanasia. A recent rescue flight felt chaotic: cages holding 101 dogs and cats—45 of the former, 56 of the latter—were loaded in California’s Central Valley, an area where excess pets face certain death. The small plane, its seats replaced by a goods hold, was bound for Washington state 1,500km north.
Sharon Lohman, founder of animal-rescue charity New Beginnings, had reached out to Ric Browde of Wings of Rescue—a charity that flies at-risk animals to adoption-friendly regions. This group, run by a former music producer, will organize 50 flights this year; Liberty, a dog of mixed schnauzer(雪纳瑞狗) breed that had been left behind, was the 75,000th pet saved by the group. The flight was operated by an Oregon couple, volunteer pilots who average three such trips monthly.
Pre-2020, relocation thrived, but COVID disrupted things: shelters closed temporarily, and spay-neuter(绝育) procedures were delayed—a research study documented a gap of 2.7 million such operations, leading to a sharp surge in the number of pets. The cost-of-living crisis worsened matters: many house owners introduced weight limits or breed bans, so people abandoned pets more often. Trendy breeds like Game of Thrones-popularized huskies now flood shelters, and northern facilities (once eager for animals) now lack space: the ASPCA moves 30% fewer pets than in 2019.
Yet compassion persists. Theresa Fall adopted Liberty despite its initial bite—she understood the dog’s suffering. Later, Liberty bonded with Gus, Fall’s other rescue dog, and loved its first Washington hike. Volunteers form tight bonds too: pilots and shelter workers hug mid-transit.
Though logistics(后勤工作) (health certificates, $1m annual costs for some groups) are tough, rescuers push on. “This fills your heart,” says pilot Kale Garcia. “But we grieve for those left behind—and work harder next time.” For pets like Liberty, these flights mean a second chance.
24.What does the underlined word “euthanasia” in Paragraph 1 probably mean?
A. Being sent to northern areas B. Painless killing of unwanted animals
C. Being adopted by new families D. Being kept in overcrowded shelters
25.Why are pets transported from California to Washington?
A. To ease local shelter pressure B. To find them adoption-friendly areas
C. To avoid regional natural disasters D. To test a new animal transport method
26.What can we learn about Theresa Fall?
A. She has rich experience in curing injured dogs B. She adopted Liberty for its trendy breed
C. She felt sad about Liberty’s past suffering D. She was once bitten by her previous pet
27.What is the main idea of the text?
A. A volunteer program saving shelter pets
B. The influence of COVID on pet adoption
C. Reasons for the rise of pet abandonment
D. The role of pilots in animal rescue
C
Photosynthesis is a unique skill of green plants — they turn water and carbon dioxide into oxygen and food through sunlight. A group of Chinese scientists, however, have “copied” this vital process and applied it to animals, achieving a groundbreaking medical innovation.
To understand this new breakthrough, it is important to know how photosynthesis works. Plants take in carbon dioxide and water from the air and soil. Within the plant cell, the water is oxidized in specialized structures. This chemical reaction transforms the water into oxygen, which is released into the air, and converts carbon dioxide into glucose(葡萄糖), a sugar molecule compound in which plants store energy for growth and survival.
In a study published in Nature in early December 2022, researchers from Zhejiang University developed an independent and controllable photosynthetic system for animal organisms. They first separated thylakoids — special structures in plant cells where photosynthesis reactions needing light take place — from young spinach leaves. To prevent immune rejection, the scientists then wrapped the thylakoids with the membrane(膜) of animal cells, which made the implanted thylakoids much more well-matched with the animals’ bodies.
The system was tested on mice suffering from arthritis(关节炎), a condition where cartilage cells degenerate and lose their ability to self-repair. After implanting the modified thylakoids and exposing the mice to light, the researchers observed remarkable recovery: the mice’s damaged cartilage showed signs of repair, and their metabolic(代谢的) process returned to normal. In arthritis patients, energy imbalance is common as fewer energy-carrying substances are produced. The implanted thylakoids corrected this by generating and storing energy through photosynthesis.
The researchers claimed that their invention holds enormous medical potential. It could serve as a novel treatment for degenerative diseases by repairing damaged cells and may even slow down cellular aging, opening up new avenues for regenerative medicine.
28.Why is the Chinese scientists' work innovative?
A. Because they used plants' unique photosynthesis on animals for medicine
B. Because they improved plants' photosynthesis to feed animals
C. Because they let animals make food with sunlight directly
D. Because they created new food via photosynthesis for animals
29.How did the researchers solve the problem of immune rejection for the implanted thylakoids?
A. They separated thylakoids from old spinach leaves
B. They wrapped thylakoids with animal cell membranes
C. They modified thylakoids to produce more energy
D. They exposed thylakoids to light before implantation
30.What can we infer about the effect of the implanted thylakoids on the arthritic mice?
A. They directly repaired the damaged cartilage cells
B. They helped the mice move more freely with less joint pain
C. They restored the energy balance through photosynthesis
D. They improved the mice’s immune system
31.Which of the following best describes the core of the passage?
A. Chinese scientists’ adaptation of a plant’s unique process for animal medical trials
B. Energy balance’s role in treating degenerative diseases through a photosynthesis approach
C. Chinese researchers’ test of a modified plant system on arthritic mice
D. Plant-based tech’s global impact on regenerative medicine
D
While flying cars and drone deliveries still sound like science fiction in many parts of the world, China is turning these futuristic concepts into everyday reality as part of its push to develop a "low-altitude economy." This emerging industry, focusing on air activities below 1,000 meters, is reshaping transportation, logistics(物流), and urban life.
The low-altitude economy covers a wide range of services, from eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) aircraft for passenger transport to drones for food delivery and emergency rescue. In Guangzhou, EHang, a Chinese company, made history as the world's first eVTOL manufacturer to obtain a commercial passenger license. Soon, residents in Guangzhou and Hefei will be able to book flights on these unmanned flying vehicles, enjoying quick trips above city traffic.
Drone delivery has also taken off in China. In cities like Shenzhen, food delivery apps like Meituan have set up special kiosks(售货亭) where customers can pick up meals delivered by drones. These drones efficiently transport bubble tea, noodle soup, and other takeout items, saving time and reducing traffic jams. Unlike in some Western countries where drone delivery is still in the trial phase, China's mature logistics network and supportive policies have made it a common sight.
The Chinese government plays a key role in promoting the low-altitude economy, viewing it as a strategic industry to drive innovation and economic growth. However, authorities also emphasize the need for orderly development. They have warned against "blind investment" and "unnecessary infrastructure", calling for organized planning at the national level to ensure safety and sustainability.
As technology advances and regulations improve, the low-altitude economy is expected to create millions of jobs and become a new economic engine. It not only demonstrates China's technological strength but also reflects the country's commitment to building a smarter and more efficient future. For ordinary people, it means more convenient transportation options, faster deliveries, and a glimpse of the future that once only existed in movies.
32.What is the core of China's "low-altitude economy"?
A. Air services relying on traditional commercial aircraft below 1,000 meters
B. Air activities and related services at altitudes under 1,000 meters
C. Drone delivery services only available in urban business districts
D. eVTOL operations limited to emergency rescue missions
33.Why is EHang mentioned in the passage?
A. It is the first company to successfully test passenger eVTOL aircraft in China
B. It has launched commercial drone delivery services in major Chinese cities
C. It became the world's first eVTOL maker to get a commercial passenger license
D. It designed the infrastructure for drone food delivery and emergency rescue
34.What advantage does China have in developing drone delivery compared to Western countries?
A. More advanced drone technology
B. Lower costs of drone production
C. A larger number of drone manufacturers
D. A well-developed logistics network and supportive policies
35.Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A. China's Low-Altitude Economy: From Fiction to Reality
B. EHang Leads the World in eVTOL Technology
C. Drone Delivery Becomes a New Trend in China
D. China's Transportation and Logistics Revolution: Flying Cars and Drones

A few years ago, in his book The 4-Hour Workweek, Timothy Ferriss introduced an innovative concept called the "low-information diet." He writes: " 36 . Similarly, information workers absorb too much unnecessary data."
The "diet" metaphor works perfectly here. A healthy diet involves removing sources of unnecessary calories and focusing on good ones. You don't stop eating. 37 . In the same way, a healthy information diet cuts out unnecessary information that only serves to distract and weaken your brain power, and encourages you to focus on the information that actually helps.
But how do you begin fighting information overload? The following recommendations may help.
Timothy Ferriss recommends a five-day "cold turkey" approach to start a low-information diet. For the first five days, try avoiding almost all newspapers, TV, the Internet and social media. 38 Beyond that, no input. Think of this exercise as a "cleanse" before your actual diet kicks in.
Then, clean your social media feed. Many of us try to increase our social media following by following others. 39 Instead, follow only those who post things that truly matter to you. That way, your time online gives you information you need without overloading you.
40 Many of us turn to social media and news feeds whenever there's a break in our daily activity. Break this habit by making your Internet use purposeful. For example, try checking it only once or twice a day, and for just a few minutes each time.
A. In fact, you just eat better.
B. Last, set limits on your time online.
C. Check news feeds for five minutes at lunch.
D. Finally, use social media only when you are free.
E. This often results in a flood of unnecessary posts.
F. The concept is to limit one's intake of information.
G. Modern people take in too many nutrient-poor calories.

If there's one thing I can't stand people saying,it is"I'm no good at anything,I don't have any talent".I just don't buy that at all.To me,everyone has at least one talent, and while it sometimes takes you a lifetime to find,it does exist. There was a time when I didn't believe that. What changed my mind was a seemingly small event that took place in 1953.
At that time I was a high school student.I was a funny-looking skinny boy named Eugene Orowitz, who weighed barely 100 pounds.I was a good student, but as far as I was concerned,in just about every other department I was a loser.I wanted to fit in,to be someone and do something well. But I hadn't found anything I was good at.One sunny afternoon, our gym class went out to the school's running track. The teacher taught us all various track and field events.I was a loser in all of them. Then came the javelin(标枪). Suddenly something inside me began saying,"Try it! Try it!”I had to wait my turn, though, trying not to look too eager. Finally, when everyone had had a chance to throw-the best throw going about 30 yards-I looked at the teacher.
"Hey,Orowitz,you want to try?"he asked.
Embarrassed,I looked down, but managed to nod my head.
“Well, come on then,"he said impatiently, and handed me the javelin.Behind me I could hear some of my classmates laughing. As I grasped the javelin in my hand,I was seized with a strange feeling-a new-found excitement. For some crazy reason,I was relaxed over what I was about to do,even though I'd never done it before.I raised the javelin over my head, took six quick steps and let the thing go.The same voice that had urged me to throw it,now told me it was a good throw.
Paragraph 1:
I watched as the spear(标枪) took off.My heart quickened
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph2:
That night I took the javelin home with me.

D. Go to Half Moon Bay:与原文 “then depart to Half Moon Bay” 完全对应,是正确答案。
22. How much would a couple with a kid under 2 pay for the snorkeling adventure?
A. $280. B. $224. C. $168. D. $112.
题干定位:关键词是 a couple(一对夫妻,即 2 个成人)、a kid under 2。
原文定位:Cost 部分:“$112 per adult and $56 for kids under 10 years old. Children under two years of age are for free.”
23. What can be learned about the Snorkel & Conch Cruise trip?
A. It lasts about four hours in general.
B. It involves a visit to the largest coral reef.
C. It is unsuitable for disabled people.
D. It is free of charge to cancel your tour.
The morning departure includes an 8:40 am check-in... with a 1:00 pm return... The afternoon departure includes a 1:10 pm pickup... with a 5:30 pm return.
C 选项:FAQ 中明确说明 “Persons with limited mobility are welcome”,只要提前通知即可,并非不适合,错误。
B
Tens of thousands of U.S. shelter animals are relocated yearly to escape euthanasia. A recent rescue flight felt chaotic... bound for Washington state 1,500km north. The small plane, its seats replaced by a goods hold, was bound for Washington state 1,500km north.
...an area where excess pets face certain death.
动物被 “relocated(转移)” 是为了 “escape(逃离)”euthanasia。
eu- = good(好的)
thanatos = death(死亡)
A. Being sent to northern areas:这是 “escape euthanasia” 之后发生的事情,是 “逃离” 的结果,而不是 “euthanasia” 本身。
C. Being adopted by new families:这是救援的最终目标,是 “生” 的希望,和 “escape death” 的语境完全相反。
D. Being kept in overcrowded shelters:这是导致 euthanasia 的原因(收容所太挤了,养不下),但不是 euthanasia 这个行为本身。
25.Why are pets transported from California to Washington?
A. To ease local shelter pressure B. To find them adoption-friendly areas
C. To avoid regional natural disasters D. To test a new animal transport method
第一段:“...an area where excess pets face certain death.”(加州中央谷是 “多余宠物必死无疑” 的地区)
第二段:“...a charity that flies at-risk animals to adoption-friendly regions.”(该慈善机构将高危动物送往 “适合领养的地区”)
A. To ease local shelter pressure
B. To find them adoption-friendly areas
C. To avoid regional natural disasters
D. To test a new animal transport method
26.What can we learn about Theresa Fall?
A. She has rich experience in curing injured dogs B. She adopted Liberty for its trendy breed
C. She felt sad about Liberty’s past suffering D. She was once bitten by her previous pet
Theresa Fall adopted Liberty despite its initial bite—she understood the dog’s suffering.”
she understood the dog’s suffering:她理解这只狗所经历的痛苦。
后续:“Later, Liberty bonded with Gus, Fall’s other rescue dog...”
A. She has rich experience in curing injured dogs
B. She adopted Liberty for its trendy breed
文中明确提到 Liberty 是 “a dog of mixed schnauzer breed”(混血雪纳瑞),并非流行品种。
C. She felt sad about Liberty’s past suffering
D. She was once bitten by her previous pet
27.What is the main idea of the text?
A. A volunteer program saving shelter pets
B. The influence of COVID on pet adoption
C. Reasons for the rise of pet abandonment
D. The role of pilots in animal rescue

A. A volunteer program saving shelter pets
B. The influence of COVID on pet adoption
C. Reasons for the rise of pet abandonment
D. The role of pilots in animal rescue

A. Because they used plants' unique photosynthesis on animals for medicine.
B. Because they improved plants' photosynthesis to feed animals.
C. Because they let animals make food with sunlight directly.
D. Because they created new food via photosynthesis for animals.
A. Because they used plants' unique photosynthesis for animals for medicine.
核心匹配:原文第一段 “copied this vital process and applied it to animals, achieving a groundbreaking medical innovation”,“copied” 对应 “used”,“applied to animals” 对应 “for animals”,“medical innovation” 对应 “for medicine”。
B. Because they improved plants' photosynthesis to feed animals.
C. Because they let animals make food with sunlight directly.
D. Because they created new food via photosynthesis for animals.
破题技巧:定位第一段 “groundbreaking medical innovation” 的修饰语,锁定 “applied it to animals” 这一核心创新点。
29.How did the researchers solve the problem of immune rejection for the implanted thylakoids?
A. They separated thylakoids from old spinach leaves.
B. They wrapped thylakoids with animal cell membranes.
C. They modified thylakoids to produce more energy.
D. They exposed thylakoids to light before implantation.
原文定位:第三段 “To prevent immune rejection, the scientists then wrapped the thylakoids with the membrane of animal cells, which made the implanted thylakoids much more well-matched with the animals' bodies.”
A. They separated thylakoids from old spinach leaves.
B. They wrapped thylakoids with animal cell membranes.
精准复现:原文 “wrapped the thylakoids with the membrane of animal cells” 直接对应选项,是解决免疫排斥的核心措施。
C. They modified thylakoids to produce more energy.
D. They exposed thylakoids to light before implantation.
30.What can we infer about the effect of the implanted thylakoids on the arthritic mice?
A. They directly repaired the damaged cartilage cells.
B. They helped the mice move more freely with less joint pain.
C. They restored the energy balance through photosynthesis.
D. They improved the mice’s immune system.
原文定位:第四段 “In arthritis patients, energy imbalance is common as fewer energy-carrying substances are produced. The implanted thylakoids corrected this by generating and storing energy through photosynthesis.”
A. They directly repaired the damaged cartilage cells.
B. They helped the mice move more freely with less joint pain.
C. They restored the energy balance through photosynthesis.
逻辑闭环:原文明确指出 “energy imbalance” 是问题,“corrected this by generating and storing energy through photosynthesis” 是解决方案,选项是对这一逻辑的精准概括。
D. They improved the mice's immune system.
31.Which of the following best describes the core of the passage?
A. Chinese scientists’ adaptation of a plant’s unique process for animal medical trials.
B. Energy balance’s role in treating degenerative diseases through a photosynthesis approach.
C. Chinese researchers’ test of a modified plant system on arthritic mice.

C. Chinese researchers' test of a modified plant system on arthritic mice.
D. Plant-based tech's global impact on regenerative medicine.
过度拔高:原文是 “may open up new avenues”,属于潜在影响,并非 “global impact”。

While flying cars and drone deliveries still sound like science fiction in many parts of the world, China is turning these futuristic concepts into everyday reality as part of its push to develop a "low-altitude economy." T32This emerging industry, focusing on air activities below 1,000 meters, is reshaping transportation, logistics(物流), and urban life.
The low-altitude economy covers a wide range of services, from eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) aircraft for passenger transport to drones for food delivery and emergency rescue. T33In Guangzhou, EHang, a Chinese company, made history as the world's first eVTOL manufacturer to obtain a commercial passenger license.
A. Air services relying on traditional commercial aircraft below 1,000 meters.

A few years ago, in his book The 4-Hour Workweek, Timothy Ferriss introduced an innovative concept called the "low-information diet." He writes: " 36 . Similarly, information workers absorb too much unnecessary data."
F. The concept is to limit one's intake of information.(这一概念是为了限制个人的信息摄入量):直接解释 “低信息饮食” 的核心,与后文 “吸收过多无用数据” 形成对比,完美衔接。
答案:A
A. In fact, you just eat better.(事实上,你只是吃得更好了):承接 “不会停止进食”,点明健康饮食的本质是 “吃得更好”,与后文信息饮食 “聚焦有用信息” 形成精准类比。
C. Check news feeds for five minutes at lunch.(午餐时查看五分钟新闻推送):是 “避开几乎所有信息” 的唯一例外,与 “Beyond that, no input” 形成 “例外→整体限制” 的逻辑,且 “news feeds” 属于前文 “信息来源” 的范畴,语义连贯。
Then, clean your social media feed. Many of us try to increase our social media following by following others. 39 Instead, follow only those who post things that truly matter to you. That way, your time online gives you information you need without overloading you.
E. This often results in a flood of unnecessary posts.(这通常会导致大量无用帖子的出现):“This” 指代 “盲目关注他人” 的行为,“unnecessary posts”(无用帖子)与后文 “truly matter to you”(对你真正重要)形成对比,完美衔接解决方案。
40 Many of us turn to social media and news feeds whenever there's a break in our daily activity. Break this habit by making your Internet use purposeful. For example, try checking it only once or twice a day, and for just a few minutes each time.
B. Last, set limits on your time online.(最后,限制你的上网时间):“Last” 体现分点策略的顺序,“set limits on your time online” 精准概括后文的具体要求,是该段的主旨句。

1.词汇拓展:information overload(信息过载)、cold turkey(突然戒断)、social media feed(社交媒体推送)、purposeful(有目的性的)—— 高考议论文高频词汇。
2.句式迁移:“A healthy diet involves removing sources of unnecessary calories and focusing on good ones.”(涉及做某事的句式:involve doing A and doing B),可用于写作中描述 “健康生活方式”“高效学习方法” 等话题。
Zigfried, a little mouse, blew his breath on the frosty window of the farmhouse and rubbed it to see the outside. Still nobody came. Maybe today, he thought hopefully . It was only a few days before Christmas and he was watching for a miracle.
开篇用 “blow his breath on the frosty window”(对着结霜的窗户哈气)这一细节,勾勒出冬日农舍的寒冷与 Zigfried 的孤独。
This farmhouse had been 41 too long. It needed a family. Zigfried’s 42 made a noise. He realized that he hadn’t eaten anything since yesterday. He jumped from the window sill (窗沿), grabbed a 43 from his home, and went next door to Farmer Mike’s.
41.逻辑:后文 “It needed a family.”
干扰项排除:A. shabby(破旧的)、B. noisy(吵闹的)、C. messy(凌乱的)均未在文中体现,属于主观臆断。
干扰项排除:A. mouth(嘴)、B. nose(鼻子)、D. throat(喉咙)均不符合 “饥饿发声” 的生理常识。
干扰项排除:B. stick(棍子)、C. bowl(碗)、D. coat(外套)均无法用于 “装粮食”。
Farmer Mike’s house had been a great place for the little mouse until the farmer married a wife who had a cat. Zigfried 44 when he thought of it. He looked around cautiously as he 45 into the room where grain was stored and was quite 46 as he filled his bag with wheat. He was turning to leave when suddenly he 47 a hot breath about his ear. His heartbeat 48 , and without thinking he started to run and luckily 49 the cat’s paws.
44. C. trembled
干扰项排除:A. leapt(跳跃)、B. sniffed(嗅)、D. withdrew(撤退)均不如 “trembled” 能体现恐惧的程度。
45.D. stole
46.B. nervous
干扰项排除:A. curious(好奇的)、C. pitiful(可怜的)、D. sensible(明智的)均不符合 “偷东西时的心理”。
47. C. felt
48.D. wildly
干扰项排除:A. strongly(强烈地)、B. irregularly(不规则地)、C. slowly(缓慢地)均不如 “wildly” 贴合 “极度恐惧” 的语境。
49.A. escaped
干扰项排除:B. seized(抓住)、C. rubbed(摩擦)、D. scratched(抓挠)均与 “幸运地” 矛盾。
The next afternoon Zigfried heard some good news: a 50 family would be moving into the farm house soon. Zigfried’s granny would arrive on Christmas Eve to 51 with him. He hoped that the family would come before his granny came. Before long, a car came up the road leading to the house, with butter sandwiches, cheese and chocolate.
50. C. new
干扰项排除:A. close(亲密的)、B. happy(快乐的)、D. young(年轻的)均未在文中体现。
51.A. celebrate
干扰项排除:B. communicate(交流)、C. compete(竞争)、D. compromise(妥协)均不符合 “圣诞奇迹” 的情感基调。
Zigfried’s Christmas miracle did arrive!
The house came alive the next few days. Zigfried 52 every single hour of them. However , the day before Christmas when he was drinking hot chocolate with a 53 smile at the door of his home, he heard the 54 of the children of the family about what they might get for Christmas. What? A cat? The 55 froze on his face; his mouth fell wide open. After a long while, he at last found his voice: “Hey! Whose Christmas miracle is this?”
52. B. enjoyed
53.D. satisfied
54.B. discussion
干扰项排除:A. introduction(介绍)、C. comment(评论)、D. debate(辩论)均不符合 “孩子们谈论礼物” 的日常语境。
55.B. smile
41. A. shabby B. noisy C. messy D. empty
42. A. mouth B. nose C. stomach D. throat
43. A. bag B. stick C. bowl D. coat
44. A. leapt B. sniffed C. trembled D. withdrew
45. A. broke B. marched C. paced D. stole
46. A. curious B. nervous C. pitiful D. sensible
47. A. took B. released C. felt D. drew
48. A. strongly B. irregularly C. slowly D. wildly
49. A. escaped B. seized C. rubbed D. scratched
50. A. close B. happy C. new D. young
51. A. celebrate B. communicate C. compete D. compromise
52. A. counted B. enjoyed C. missed D. wasted
53. A. bitter B. forced C. polite D. satisfied
54. A. introduction B. discussion C. comment D. debate
55. A. blood B. smile C. tear D. sweat
The Richfield Museum of Fine Art is proud to present our new exhibition, "From Shang to Qing: Chinese Art Through the Ages." Our goal is 56 (display) the Chinese artistic genius from ancient times, with works spanning more than 3,000 years.
56. to display
Our goal is 56 (display) the Chinese artistic genius...”
The highlight of this exhibition is the painting Clearing After Snow on a Mountain Pass, one of 57 greatest works of Tang Yin, who was born during the Ming Dynasty. Tang failed to gain entry into the civil service, so he turned to painting instead. This painting , 58 (show) high mountains, trees 59 houses covered in snow, 60 (make) with extraordinary skill. Though it is over 500 years old, it looks as fresh and full of life as the day it was created.
57. the
原文定位:“one of 57 greatest works of Tang Yin...”
58. showing
This painting, 58 (show) high mountains, trees...”
59. and
原文定位:“high mountains, trees 59 houses covered in snow...”
high mountains(高山)、trees(树木)、houses(房屋)是三个并列的名词,共同作为show的宾语,用并列连词and连接。
60. was made
60 (make) with extraordinary skill.”
Also of primary note is a collection of nearly 100 bronze objects 61 the Shang Dynasty. Some of the items on display are thought to have come from Emperor Qianlong’s collection. Finally, we have fine Tang Dynasty sculptures, most of 62 are of Buddhist origin, influenced by art 63 (bring) through the Silk Road. These works are of 64 (exception) beauty and quality.
61. from
原文定位:“a collection of nearly 100 bronze objects 61 the Shang Dynasty.”
62. which
原文定位:“fine Tang Dynasty sculptures, most of 62 are of Buddhist origin...”
63. brought
原文定位:“influenced by art 63 (bring) through the Silk Road.”
64. exceptional
These works are of 64 (exception) beauty and quality.”
“be of + 形容词 + 名词” 是高考书面表达的高级结构,如 “be of great importance”。
The exhibition runs until November 25, with an 65 (admit) fee of $8 for full-time students.
65. admission
原文定位:“with an 65 (admit) fee of $8...”
1. 接受邀请;
2. 确定发言主题;
1. 词数80左右;
2. 可以适当增加细节,使行文连贯;
Dear Alison,
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
Dear Alison,
I’m writing to express my sincere thanks for your kind invitation to the English Corner next Friday. I’m more than delighted to accept it and share my ideas with my fellow students.
For my short speech, I’ve decided to focus on the topic "My Favorite English Movie and What I Learned from It". I believe this will spark interesting discussions and help us practice our oral English in a fun way.
Could you please let me know the exact start time of the activity? This will help me make proper preparations in advance.Looking forward to the event!
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
I’m writing to express my sincere thanks for your kind invitation to the English Corner next Friday. I’m more than delighted to accept it and share my ideas with my fellow students.
“more than delighted to accept” 清晰表达接受态度,同时用 “share my ideas” 自然过渡到发言主题,为第二段铺垫。
For my short speech, I’ve decided to focus on the topic "My Favorite English Movie and What I Learned from It". I believe this will spark interesting discussions and help us practice our oral English in a fun way.
补充一句 “I believe this will spark interesting discussions”,体现对活动的思考,而非被动接受任务,这是高分关键。
Could you please let me know the exact start time of the activity? This will help me make proper preparations in advance.
用 “Could you please...”
补充 “This will help me make proper preparations”,说明询问时间的合理性,而非单纯索要信息,让逻辑更完整。
I’m more than delighted to accept your kind invitation to...
For my speech, I’ve decided to focus on the topic...
Could you please let me know the exact... so that I can...
主题拓展:可提供更多适合英语角的发言主题,如 “Tips for Learning English Effectively”“My Unforgettable Trip” 等。
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I watched as the spear took off. My heart quickened when the javelin was flying so beautifully in the sky. The distance was more than 30 yards, 32 yards! My classmates and the gym teacher were so shocked that they were speechless. In their minds, my name had always been linked to a loser. What I had achieved was so amazing! After a while, the teacher smiled, saying, “Great! The javelin belongs to you now.” I laughed quietly.
That night I took the javelin home with me. Lying on the bed, I was buried in deep thoughts. I was determined to go further so I had to make efforts with all my fighting spirit! From the next day on, I was the first to arrive at the track and the last to leave. I repeated the same throw hundreds of times, my shoulders aching and my hands blistered, but I never grew tired of chasing that perfect arc in the air. Finally, I got the national javelin champion. Now I firmly believe that everyone has at least one talent, which might be hiding in the most unexpected places. It was only through that brave throw that I unearthed mine, and in doing so, I learned that the greatest victories are not over others, but over the doubts within ourselves.
这篇读后续写的核心是 “自我发现与自我超越”,命题人通过 Eugene Orowitz(即后来的 Gene Orowitz,著名演员和标枪运动员)的故事,考查学生三大能力:
I watched as the spear took off. My heart quickened when the javelin was flying so beautifully in the sky. The distance was more than 30 yards, 32 yards! My classmates and the gym teacher were so shocked that they were speechless. In their minds, my name had always been linked to a loser. What I had achieved was so amazing! After a while, the teacher smiled, saying, “Great! The javelin belongs to you now.” I laughed quietly.
动作承接:用 “I watched as the spear took off” 直接承接前文 “let the thing go” 的动作,形成无缝衔接。
感官描写:“My heart quickened”(心跳加速)和 “flying so beautifully in the sky”(在空中划出优美弧线),从视觉和生理感受两方面强化成功的震撼感。
行动细节:“first to arrive... last to leave”(早来晚走)、“repeated the same throw hundreds of times”(重复投掷数百次)、“shoulders aching and my hands blistered”(肩膀酸痛、双手磨泡),用具体细节体现 “努力”,而非空喊口号。
I watched as... took off. My heart quickened when...
I was determined to... so I had to make efforts with all my fighting spirit!
Now I firmly believe that... It was only through... that I unearthed mine...

Tens of thousands of U.S.shelter animals are relocated yearly to escape euthanasia.A recent
rescue flight felt chaotic:cages holding 101 dogs and cats-45 of the former,56 of the
latter-were loaded in California's Central Valley,an area where excess pets face certain death.
The small plane, its seats replaced by a goods hold, was bound for Washington state 1,500km
north.
Sharon Lohman, founder of animal-rescue charity New Beginnings, had reached out to Ric
Browde of Wings of Rescue-a charity that flies at-risk animals to adoption-friendly regions. This
group, run by a former music producer, will organize 50 flights this year;Liberty,a dog of mixed
schnauzer(雪纳瑞g狗)breed that had been left behind, was the75,000 th pet saved by the group.
The flight was operated by an Oregon couple, volunteer pilots who average three such trips
monthly.
Pre-2020,relocation thrived,but COVID disrupted things:shelters closed temporarily,and
spay-neuter()procedures were delayed-a research study documented a gap of 2.7 million
such operations, leading to a sharp surge in the number of pets. The cost-of-living crisis worsened
matters:many house owners introduced weight limits or breed bans,so people abandoned pets
more often.Trendy breeds like Game of Thrones-popularized huskies now flood shelters, and
northern facilities (once eager for animals)now lack space:the ASPCA moves 30%fewer pets
than in 2019.
Yet compassion persists.Theresa Fall adopted Liberty despite its initial bite-she understood
the dog's suffering.Later,Liberty bonded with Gus,Fall's other rescue dog,and loved its first
Washington hike.Volunteers form tight bonds too:pilots and shelter workers hug mid-transit
Though logistics((后勤工作)health certificates,.$1m annual costs for some groups)are tough,.
rescuers push on."This fills your heart,"says pilot Kale Garcia."But we grieve for those left
behind-and work harder next time."For pets like Liberty, these flights mean a second chance.

Photosynthesis is a unique skill of green plants -they turn water and carbon dioxide into
oxygen and food through sunlight.A group of Chinese scientists, however, have"copied this vital
process and applied it to animals, achieving a groundbreaking medical innovation.
To understand this new breakthrough,it is important to know how photosynthesis works.
Plants take in carbon dioxide and water from the air and soil.Within the plant cell, the water is
oxidized in specialized structures. This chemical reaction transforms the water into oxygen, which
is released into the air,and converts carbon dioxide into glucose(葡萄搪),a sugar molecule
compound in which plants store energy for growth and survival.
In a study published in Nature in early December 2022,researchers from Zhejiang University
developed an independent and controllable photosynthetic system for animal organisms. They first
separated thylakoids-special structures in plant cells where photosynthesis reactions needing
light take place-from young spinach leaves. To prevent immune rejection, the scientists then
wrapped the thylakoids with the membrane()of animal cells, which made the implanted
thylakoids much more well-matched with the animals'bodies.
The system was tested on mice suffering from arthritis((关节炎),a condition where cartilage
cells degenerate and lose their ability to self-repair.After implanting the modified thylakoids and
exposing the mice to light, the researchers observed remarkable recovery:the mice's damaged
cartilage showed signs of repair, and their metabolic()process returned to normal. In
arthritis patients, energy imbalance is common as fewer energy-carrying substances are produced.
The implanted thylakoids corrected this by generating and storing energy through photosynthesis.
The researchers claimed that their invention holds enormous medical potential. It could serve
as a novel treatment for degenerative diseases by repairing damaged cells and may even slow
down cellular aging, opening up new avenues for regenerative medicine.
28.Why is the Chinese scientists'work innovative?
A.Because they used plants'unique photosynthesis on animals for medicine
B.Because they improved plants'photosynthesis to feed animals
C.Because they let animals make food with sunlight directly
D.Because they created new food via photosynthesis for animals
29.How did the researchers solve the problem of immune rejection for the implanted thylakoids?
A.They separated thylakoids from old spinach leaves
B.They wrapped thylakoids with animal cell membranes
C.They modified thylakoids to produce more energy
D.They exposed thylakoids to light before implantation
30.What can we infer about the effect of the implanted thylakoids on the arthritic mice?
A.They directly repaired the damaged cartilage cells
B.They helped the mice move more freely with less joint pain
C.They restored the energy balance through photosynthesis
D.They improved the mice's immune system
31.Which of the following best describes the core of the passage?
A.Chinese scientists'adaptation of a plant's unique process for animal medical trials
B.Energy balance's role in treating degenerative diseases through a photosynthesis approach
C.Chinese researchers'test of a modified plant system on arthritic mice
D.Plant-based tech's global impact on regenerative medicine

While flying cars and drone deliveries still sound like science fiction in many parts of the
world,China is turning these futuristic concepts into everyday reality as part of its push to develop
a "low-altitude economy."This emerging industry,focusing on air activities below 1,000 meters,
is reshaping transportation,logistics(物流),and urban life.
The low-altitude economy covers a wide range of services, from eVTOL (electric vertical
take-off and landing)aircraft for passenger transport to drones for food delivery and emergency
rescue. In Guangzhou,EHang,a Chinese company, made history as the world's first eVTOL
manufacturer to obtain a commercial passenger license.Soon, residents in Guangzhou and Hefei
will be able to book flights on these unmanned flying vehicles, enjoying quick trips above city
traffic.
Drone delivery has also taken off in China. In cities like Shenzhen, food delivery apps like
Meituan have set up special kiosks()where customers can pick up meals delivered by
drones. These drones efficiently transport bubble tea, noodle soup, and other takeout items, saving
time and reducing traffic jams.Unlike in some Western countries where drone delivery is still in
the trial phase,China's mature logistics network and supportive policies have made it a common
sight.
The Chinese government plays a key role in promoting the low-altitude economy, viewing it
as a strategic industry to drive innovation and economic growth. However, authorities also
emphasize the need for orderly development. They have warned against "blind investment"and
"unnecessary infrastructure",calling for organized planning at the national level to ensure safety
and sustainability.
As technology advances and regulations improve, the low-altitude economy is expected to
create millions of jobs and become a new economic engine. It not only demonstrates China's
technological strength but also reflects the country's commitment to building a smarter and more
efficient future. For ordinary people,it means more convenient transportation options, faster
deliveries, and a glimpse of the future that once only existed in movies.
32.What is the core of China's"low-altitude economy"?
A.Air services relying on traditional commercial aircraft below 1,000 meters
B.Air activities and related services at altitudes under 1,000 meters
C.Drone delivery services only available in urban business districts
D.eVTOL operations limited to emergency rescue missions
33.Why is EHang mentioned in the passage?
A.It is the first company to successfully test passenger eVTOL aircraft in China
B.It has launched commercial drone delivery services in major Chinese cities
C.It became the world's first eVTOL maker to get a commercial passenger license
D.It designed the infrastructure for drone food delivery and emergency rescue
34.What advantage does China have in developing drone delivery compared to Western countries?
A.More advanced drone technology
B.Lower costs of drone production
C.A larger number of drone manufacturers
D.A well-developed logistics network and supportive policies
35.Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A.China's Low-Altitude Economy:From Fiction to Reality
B.EHang Leads the World in eVTOL Technology
C.Drone Delivery Becomes a New Trend in China
D.China's Transportation and Logistics Revolution:Flying Cars and Drones

A few years ago,in his book The 4-Hour Workweek,Timothy Ferriss introduced an
innovative concept called the "low-information diet."He writes:"36.Similarly,information
workers absorb too much unnecessary data."
The "diet"metaphor works perfectly here.A healthy diet involves removing sources of
unnecessary calories and focusing on good ones. You don't stop eating.37.In the same way,
a healthy information diet cuts out unnecessary information that only serves to distract and
weaken your brain power, and encourages you to focus on the information that actually helps.
But how do you begin fighting information overload? The following recommendations may
help
Timothy Ferriss recommends a five-day "cold turkey"approach to start a low-information
diet. For the first five days, try avoiding almost all newspapers,TV,the Internet and social media.
38 Beyond that,no input.Think of this exercise as a "cleanse"before your actual diet
kicks in.
Then, clean your social media feed. Many of us try to increase our social media following by
following others.39 Instead, follow only those who post things that truly matter to you.
That way, your time online gives you information you need without overloading you.
40 Many of us turn to social media and news feeds whenever there's a break in our
daily activity.Break this habit by making your Internet use purposeful. For example, try checking
it only once or twice a day,and for just a few minutes each time
A.In fact,you just eat better.
B.Last, set limits on your time online.
C.Check news feeds for five minutes at lunch.
D.Finally, use social media only when you are free.
E.This often results in a flood of unnecessary posts.
F.The concept is to limit one's intake of information
G.Modern people take in too many nutrient-poor calories.

If there's one thing I can't stand people saying,it is'I'm no good at anything,I don't have
any talent".I just don't buy that at all.To me,everyone has at least one talent, and while it
sometimes takes you a lifetime to find,it does exist. There was a time when I didn't believe
that. What changed my mind was a seemingly small event that took place in 1953.
At that time I was a high school student.I was a funny-looking skinny boy named Eugene
Orowitz,who weighed barely 100 pounds.I was a good student,but as far as I was
concerned,in just about every other department I was a loser.I wanted to fit in,to be someone
and do something well.But I hadn't found anything I was good at.One sunny afternoon,our
gym class went out to the school's running track. The teacher taught us all various track and
field events.I was a loser in all of them. Then came the javelin().Suddenly something
inside me began saying,"Try it!Try it!"I had to wait my turn, though, trying not to look too
eager. Finally, when everyone hadhad a chance to throw-the best throw going about 30 yards-I
looked at the teacher.
"Hey,Orowitz,you want to try?"he asked.
Embarrassed,I looked down, but managed to nod my head.
"Well, come on then,"he said impatiently, and handed me the javelin Behind me I could
hear some of my classmates laughing. As I grasped the javelin in my hand,I was seized with a
strange feeling-a new-found excitement. For some crazy reason,I was relaxed over what I was
about to do,even though I'd never done it before.I raised the javelin over my head, took six
quick steps and let the thing go.The same voice that had urged me to throw it,now told me it
was a good throw.
Paragraph 1:
I watched as the spear()took off.My heart quickened
Paragraph2:
That night I took the javelin home with me.
