The sun was shining brightly—a good day for the beach. I 1 in my car when I saw some dolphins lying on the beach. I knew they needed help. I jumped out of my car, took 2 my shoes and ran to the beach. I called the police but they were far away. I didn’t know 3 to help them, so I put a message on the Internet. I hoped someone 4 see it and come to save those lovely animals.
Minutes later, three teenage boys came first. “We had better 5 or they will die.” I said. Very soon, more people arrived. We decided 6 the smaller dolphins first. We worked together and 7 moved them back to the deeper water.
Then something unusual happened which surprised us all. 8 the smaller dolphins were saved, none of them left. Instead, they stayed in the water and made strange sounds to encourage 9 dolphins. After the rescue work was done, all the dolphins raised their heads from water and swam around to show 10 thanks to us. Then, they swam back to the deep sea.
It touched me a lot and my heart was beating fast with 11 . The dolphins had a great sense of helping each other when in trouble. I realized that our volunteer group was just like the dolphins. On such a cold day, 12 cared about getting wet or dirty. Nothing would make us feel 13 than seeing all the dolphins were safe and sound.
For me, this is certainly 14 unusual experience. Next time if the same thing 15 , I will do the same. People can always learn from our friends—animals.

It was a week before I saw Captain Nemo again. Every morning, I noticed fresh air coming into the rooms and I knew that the Nautilus had come to the top. I would go out and see the sunrise.
Then I received a note from Captain Nemo. He invited me and my friends to go hunting with him in the forests of Crescent Island. Ned was excited because he thought there he could find a chance to run away. When I saw Captain Nemo the next day, I asked him why he was so interested in Crescent Island. “I thought you preferred the sea.”
“I do,” replied the Captain, “But these forests are under the sea.” During breakfast, he explained that he had made diving suits that used special air tanks. These tanks would allow us to stay under the water for ten hours. He had also made lights that worked in electric batteries. When Ned realized that we were not going onto land for our hunting trip, he decided not to come at all. Conseil and I put on our diving suits, and so did Captain Nemo and one of his men. We stepped into a room and closed the door. The room was filled with water, and another door opened. We went through it, and we were on the sea floor. It was an amazing experience. We were about ten metres under the water. The light from the sun reached us. Everything looked very colourful. We walked over the fine sand and enjoyed the colours of the shells, fish and seaweed. Conseil and I followed Captain Nemo and his man as they crossed a large grassy area. We were going deeper and deeper.
As we were a hundred metres under the water, we could still see quite well. Captain Nemo stopped and pointed to some dark shapes. This was the forest. The “trees” there were giant seaweed (水藻), and all their branches were vertical (垂直的). We could not stop looking at them. Fish swam around the branches like birds in a forest. Small bushes grew under the large seaweed trees. Three hours later, we lay down to rest. I was not hungry, but very sleepy. We all slept and when we woke up, we explored further.

Italy, long celebrated for its food, art and clothes, has added a new cultural passion: tennis.
While once considered an average tennis nation, Italy now has seven male players ranked in the world’s top 60, a level of talent matched only by the US. France and Russia have five top-60 players each, according to Reuters. What sets the Italians apart is their youth: Among the nine men in the top 100, six are aged between 20 and 23, promising a strong talent stream for years to come.
At the front is Jannik Sinner, a four-time Grand Slam champion. His on-court success and modest (谦逊的) personality have turned him into a national figure (人物). “We never had the front page of Gazzetta dello Sport (a widely read daily newspaper in Italy) showing tennis, and now tennis is in all papers, no matter what Sinner does,” long-time journalist Ubaldo Scanagatta told CNN.
Italy’s tennis rise, however, is more than just one player. The Italian tennis federation (FITP) has spent over a decade reshaping player development. Angelo Binaghi, FITP president since 2001, told Reuters that in the last 10-15 years, they’ve expanded training and increased financial, technical and mental support for young athletes.
Promising athletes under 16 no longer leave home for national centers. Instead, they develop at home with private coaches, supported by regional training places and guided by federation “super-coaches”, Michelangelo dell’Edera, Davis Cup team manager and head of the under-16 field, told Reuters. “It’s been extraordinary (非凡的), and quite unusual for Italian people who are individualistic (个人主义的) by nature.”
International experts like Craig O’Shannessy, formerly with Novak Djokovic, have also helped change the game. Since 2016, O’Shannessy has worked for the federation and assisted (协助) the rise of Matteo Berrettini, a famous player from Italy into the top 10. He uses data analysis (数据分析) to develop strategic training made specifically for the players. “I wanted to... get them to play where the coaches could see strengths and weaknesses clearly. Then coaches could offer better guidance instead of a cookie-cutter approach (千篇一律的方法),” he told CNN.
Italy’s commitment includes major events. Turin has hosted the ATP Finals since 2021, originally scheduled through 2025. However, due to its success, the event will remain in Italy until 2030, AP News reported.
30.Why is Jannik Sinner mentioned in Paragraph 3?
A.To show he is the only Grand Slam champion in Italy.
B.To explain why Gazzetta dello Sport only reports tennis now.
C.To illustrate his role in boosting tennis’ popularity in Italy.
D.To prove he is the youngest Italian top player.
31.What has the FITP been doing for over a decade?
A.Focusing on developing only one top tennis player.
B.Reshaping the way young tennis players are developed.
C.Reducing financial support for young athletes.
D.Closing all regional training places for teenagers.
32.What change has the FITP made to the training of under-16 promising athletes?
A.They must train at national centers far from home.
B.They train at home with private coaches and get a lot of support.
C.They are guided only by federation “super-coaches”.
D.They have to give up private coaches and join regional teams.
33.What does Craig O’Shannessy use to develop training plans for Italian players?
A.Traditional coaching experience. B.Data analysis.
C.Novak Djokovic’s training model. D.The “cookie-cutter approach”.

C
Nowadays, kids may ask, “Before smart phones came out, what did people do when they got lost?” They are not just curious—they are exploring how phone culture is changing the way we think, feel, and act in the digital (数字的) age.
In this digital age, kids have no experience of a “pre-Internet mindset (前互联网思维模式)”. In the past, when we faced uncertainties, like not knowing the shortest path, or the answer to a question, we couldn’t get information easily like we do today. At that time, our brains had to adapt (适应) to that discomfort. We depended on our memory and came up with creative solutions. These cognitive (认知的) “workouts” strengthened attention and problem-solving skills.
Now, with the wide use of phones and the Internet, answers come quickly. There’s less need to memorize routes or struggle through problems alone. This change makes many people worry about technology’s negative influence, and some even fall into a “deficit mindset”, believing everything was better in the past. For example, they might think writing letters is far better than messaging, while overlooking the amazing efficiency and connectivity that technology brings.
It’s true that some studies suggest heavy social media use can challenge our focus. Even a short screen time affects brain areas for self-control and decision-making. But this isn’t the whole story. New research, like a 2023 study on young adults, shows that technology also trains our brains in different ways. When dealing with new things, it easily connects us with different topics and cultures, making our minds more open and adaptable.
Therefore, instead of gainsaying the advantages that are brought about by the digital age, we should recognize the natural adaptation of the human brain. In fact, people have developed the following three basic modes of thinking to deal with problems today:
The Deep-Thinking Mode
The Quick-Learning Mode
The Free-Switching Mode
Disconnecting from digital tools to develop your own ideas and building creativity that AI cannot easily provide.
Using technology as a tool to get information, solve problems effectively, and keep up with the latest knowledge.
Switching between the two modes according to your tasks and using digital tools wisely only when they help you achieve your goals.
Next time you face a problem, notice your natural response. Do you stand the uncertainty, reach for your phone, or find a middle path? There is no single “right” way to think, for each mode offers unique advantages that our complex world needs. Understanding how your mind has adapted to our digital environment might just be your greatest strength.
34.Why does the writer mention the kids’ question in Paragraph 1?
A.To present kids’ curiosity about the past life.
B.To highlight the importance of phone culture.
C.To stress the benefits that are brought by smart phones.
D.To start the discussion of the influence of the digital age.
35.What does the word “gainsaying” in Paragraph 5 probably mean?
A.sticking to B.speaking against C.giving in to D.putting up with
36.Which of the following would the writer most probably agree with?
A.Curiosity encourages people’s lifelong learning.
B.Using social media develops decision-making skills.
C.Recognizing cognitive strengths helps solve problems.
D.A “deficit mindset” improves efficiency and connectivity.
37.Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A.The Influence of Digital World Over Attention
B.The Workout of Our Brain to Remain Creative
C.The Adaptation of Our Brain to the Digital Age
D.The Changes of Pre-and After-Internet Environment
根据“instead of gainsaying the advantages that are brought about by the digital age, we should recognize the natural adaptation of the human brain.”
根据“Understanding how your mind has adapted to our digital environment might just be your greatest strength.”

Let the oil go through the cloth into the bottle.”
The hashtag (话题标签) “laoji, see you tomorrow” has been sweeping across Chinese social media lately. It basically means “love yourself”—a warm and funny way of talking to yourself. 41
Talk to yourself like a best friend
Try to turn “Why am I so silly?” into “I tried my best, and I’ll do better next time.” Write down some positive sentences for yourself before bed, like“I ate on time today!” or “I stayed calm and avoided arguments.” 42 Slowly, you’ll start to see yourself in a kinder light.
Build a “mental charging station (心灵充电站)”
Say no to fake (假的) rest. Real rest isn’t staying up late glued to your phone—it’s doing things that refill your energy. Create your own “charging list”: maybe take a warm bath, go for a walk or listen to music. 43
Protect your mental energy
Loving yourself isn’t just about doing more things. 44 Draw clear lines with stressful relationships, tiring work patterns or situations that make you doubt yourself.
Avoid chasing (追逐) perfection
Waiting to be perfect often means never starting. 45 But doing something imperfect is better than doing nothing at all. The first step matters most.
Focus on our true needs instead of blindly following the pace of the world around us. Love laoji more in the coming year.
A.It’s also about having the courage to say no.
B.These small acts can bring big joy to your daily life.
C.These simple words can help you be nicer to yourself.
D.Here are some easy ways to practice self-love in daily life.
E.Many people put things off because they’re afraid of making mistakes.
【答案】41.D 42.C 43.B 44.A 45.E
41.根据“It basically means ‘love yourself’—a warm and funny way of talking to yourself.”
42.根据前文“Write down some positive sentences for yourself before bed, like ‘I ate on time today!’ or ‘I stayed calm and avoided arguments.’”
43.根据“Create your own ‘charging list’: maybe take a warm bath, go for a walk or listen to music.”
44.根据“Loving yourself isn’t just about doing more things.” 故选A。
45.根据“Waiting to be perfect often means never starting.”和后文“But doing something imperfect is better than doing nothing at all.”
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient system of healthcare from China. It has been practiced for t 46 of years. TCM believes good health comes from a balanced flow of energy, called “Qi” (pronounced “chee”), inside the body. It also focuses on the balance b 47 yin and yang, two opposite but connected forces.
TCM doctors look at the whole person, not just the sickness. They use four main ways to understand a patient’s problem: l 48 (especially at the tongue), listening, asking questions, and touching (especially feeling the pulse 脉搏). Based on this, TCM uses different treatments to bring back balance.
TCM aims to prevent i 49 and treat the root cause. Many people today find TCM h 50 and sometimes use it alongside modern medicine. This ancient wisdom continues to offer ways for people to seek health and harmony.
46.(t)housands 47.(b)etween 48.(l)ooking 49.(i)llnesses 50.(h)elpful
between…and…“……和……两者之间”,是固定搭配。故填(b)etween。
48.句意:他们使用四种主要方法来理解患者的问题:看(尤其是看舌头)、听、问问题和触摸(尤其是感觉脉搏)。此处与“listening, asking, touching”并列,且首字母“l”提示,此处指看,looking符合 。故填(l)ooking。
49.句意:中医旨在预防疾病并治疗根本原因。根据“prevent”和首字母“i”提示,此处指预防疾病,illnesses“疾病”符合。故填(i)llnesses。
根据上文“TCM aims to prevent…and treat the root cause.”
More and more students want my school’s science festival.
【答案】 to take part in
want to do sth意为“想要做某事”;take part in意为“参加”。故填to;take;part;in。
My friends also wondered in the science festival.
【答案】 why we were interested
感兴趣:be interested in。故填why;we;were;interested。
I explained, “Every year, many activities during the science festival—such as flying drones and robot shows.”
【答案】 are held
故填are;held。
My friends all think that for students more from the activities.
【答案】 it’s lucky to learn
【详解】根据中英文对照,空格处缺“真是幸运;能学到”,“it’s+形容词+for sb.+to do sth.” 故填it’s;lucky;to;learn。
choice it is for me to choose this school for my high school!
What a wise
故填What;a;wise。

My Ways to Keep Healthy
Hello, everyone! It’s very important for us to stay healthy. Here are some ways I usually take to keep fit.
On the physical health side, I always eat healthily. I avoid junk food like chips and cola. Instead, I have plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and protein. I also make sure to drink enough water every day, which is great for my body. Regular exercise is a must for me. I go jogging three times a week and play basketball with my friends on weekends. This helps me build strong muscles and keep a good figure.
When it comes to mental health, I develop a good habit of reading. Reading different books broadens my horizons and relaxes my mind. When I’m stressed, I listen to soft music. It calms me down and makes me feel at ease. Also, I always try to look at the bright side of things and stay positive.
In conclusion, by taking care of both my physical and mental health, I’m able to live a healthy and happy life. I believe we can all do it if we make an effort.

E.Many people put things off because they’re afraid of making mistakes.
