In the 1960s, a musical group composed a popular song called Monday: “Every other day of the week is fine. But whenever Monday comes, you can find me crying all of the time.” When talking about days of the week, Monday gets 1 expectation. I surveyed friends, and the 2 were very clear. When asking which day of the week they liked the least, 90 percent of them chose Monday. I disagree with them all. I think Monday is actually the best day of the week.
3 , consider all the good things that happen on Mondays. For example, quite a few public holidays are celebrated on Mondays. Then Monday is the best day to do shopping because there aren’t so many people shopping. Experts say that you can also get the best online deals on Mondays. This is 4 true for electronics, such as computers, TVs, and video games.
To me, however, there’s something even more important about Mondays. Each Monday 5 a new beginning. For example, last week I got behind on my homework and had to give up going to a movie with my friends on the weekend. But 6 Monday arrived, I could start all over again.
I also love Mondays because we usually start new lessons at school at the beginning of the week. While last week’s topics may be 7 , Monday can bring a new book to read, or math problems to solve. Besides, I always become full of energy on Mondays after getting enough sleep at weekends.
I realize that I am probably not going to make everyone believe that Monday is the best day of the week, but hopefully I can 8 a few people to change. The next time a Monday comes, think about all the good things that could happen and look forward to the day instead of 9 it.
There’s no way to 10 Mondays, so join me in making the best of them. Who knows? You might even start liking the first day of the workweek.

Once, a hug from a mother saved the life of her newly-born baby who was dying.
We Chinese used to be too shy to hug each other because we disliked being 8 by others, especially strangers. 9 , this situation has changed. Giving hugs to people around us becomes popular in society. Now January 21st every year is known as National Hugging Day.
Virginia Satir once said, “We need four hugs a day for living on. We need eight hugs a day for holding on. We need twelve hugs a day for growing up.” So it is something we should do more often. Let’s 10 . Give your loved ones a hug! You’ll give them and yourself a world of good.

Friends Williams and Smith spend the weeks visiting all the states across the country, making house calls to kids who are 1 or disabled. Though Williams has been 3 joy this way for years, it all began with a joyless event — his mother died of cancer in 2009.

Williams and Smith start their gift-giving journey by driving 7 the states. Their toys are usually from the donations that come through the Future Super Hero website. Even more important than the gifts they bring, Williams and Smith spend time with the people who need it the most.
“The parents seem more excited than the kids sometimes,” Williams told KTVQ News after a visit to Billings, Montana, last year. The pair say they want to 8 that those families never feel lonely. It’s what keeps them going, even when they 9 get any sleep in the process.
“I don’t look to get paid to do this,” Williams says. “It’s just healing (治愈) for me for losing my mother, just keeping her name 10 by doing this.”
“Every day, I get to wake up and do what I love,” Smith adds. “I can’t go wrong with that.”

“That’s funny! I had the same dream when I was your age,” I said. “ 1 penguins?”
Neither Jim nor I knew the reason. Perhaps both of us were 2 penguins. The nearest penguins live in South America. 3 , we lived in France. As time went by, Jim and I kept on 4 penguins, as if to remind ourselves that we should always make our dreams come true.
One day, I received a postcard from Jim. On it, he wrote, “I live in a nice place, but there are no penguins.” It seemed that 5 hit me and then I called him, “Come on, let’s go and see the penguins!”

Finally, we saw the penguins. The penguins were so lovely and one of them raised my 9 . It appeared from the water and got close to its babies. Sometime in the past 20 years, people changed their attitude towards email. Culturally, it went from ease to problem. In the 1990s, American Online would excitedly announce, “You’ve got mail!” Today, Gmail (Google Mail) celebrates the 1 : “No new mail! ”
So what happened to email? What happened to us? These questions come up in the new technology TV program Codebreaker, which focuses on the question “Is email still 2 ? ”
“Email is free, and anybody can send to anybody, as many as we want. ” Codebreaker’s host, Ben Johnson said. But 3 most emails are “total garbage”, Johnson said, “and they shouldn’t even go to your inbox. ”
Yet this virtual garbage is not the real problem. Obviously, people get tired of their inboxes. Email may work technologically, meanwhile it brings some 4 mentally. Studies show checking email too often makes people less productive and unhappy. On average, people their email 77 times a day, according to Gloria Mark. a professor at the University of California. “The more email people deal with, the 5 your mood turns at the end of the day.” Maybe we have to rethink email and even change 6 we use it.
Gloria Mark is not the only one who thinks this. There are 7 new ways to replace the email routine. Some apps like messengers and chat tools are called “email killers” because they reduce email’s role in our lives.
“Email is not helpless,” said SabriBen-Achour, a reporter in the Codebreaker. “Email 8 the barriers (屏障) that hide our bad habits.”
9 email is not all bad, it’s clear that something is wrong in some ways. And if we are the ones who broke it, it will be up to us to 10 it, too.

“These are tulip bulbs (郁金香球茎), I like to call them 2 plants.” Grandpa explained.
“Why? ” asked Ava, eyeing them curiously.

Ava hurried back inside to call her grandpa.
Grandpa bent down and 9 brushed some snow off one of the smaller plants that had sprouted.
Grandpa looked at the plants, and then at Ava, and smiled. “They were growing while the earth was still 10 . They waited for the right time. And I’m proud of you, Ava,” he said. “You have been like the tulips.”
