Last Tuesday, after the PE lesson, we returned to the classroom. Suddenly, Mike cried, “My watch is gone! It is a birthday gift from my grandfather.”
Hearing that, we all helped him look for it. We checked the floor, the desks, and even the space under the books, but the watch was nowhere to be found.
Mike looked worried. Then, he saw Tom walking out of the classroom quickly. Tom was a quiet boy who didn’t talk much with others. Mike remembered that Tom once liked his watch and asked to have a look at it. “Maybe Tom took it!” Without thinking twice, Mike ran to Tom and said, “Give back my watch! I know you took it!” Tom’s face turned red. He was shocked and couldn’t say a word. Other students started to look at Tom strangely.
Just then, our teacher, Mrs. Lee, came in. She asked what happened. After listening to Mike’s words, she said, “Mike, it’s not fair to blame someone before we know the facts. Where else could the watch be?”
Mike thought hard. Then, he remembered! During the PE lesson, he took it off and put it inside his locker (储物柜)! He ran to the locker at once and found the watch right there. Mike felt very ashamed (惭愧). He went back to the classroom and said to Tom, “I’m so sorry, Tom. I was wrong.” Tom smiled and said, “It’s okay. I’m just glad you found your watch.”
This small accident taught us a valuable lesson: Never doubt others just because of a feeling. We should think carefully before we act.

C. Because Tom stayed in the classroom during the PE lesson.

33. Where did Mike finally find his watch?
A. Under his desk. B. Inside his locker. C. In Mrs. Lee’s office.
34. How did Tom feel when Mike said sorry to him?
A. He was a little sad. B. He felt happy for Mike. C. He was still angry with Mike.
35. What is the best title (标题) for the passage?
A. A Special PE Lesson B. A Valuable Birthday Gift C. An Educational Lesson

Long ago, people found that light could go through a small hole in a dark room or a box and make a picture on the wall inside. This was called the “camera obscura”, which means “dark room”. Artists used it to help them draw things more easily. However, this picture couldn’t be kept: it would disappear (消失) when the light was gone.
The big change happened in the 19th century. A man named Joseph Nicephore Niepce wanted to keep the picture made by light. In 1826, he used a special material (材料) and put it inside a camera obscure. After many hours, he made the first real photo that didn’t disappear in a short time. It was not clear, but it was great progress.
Later, another person named Louis Daguerre made it better and faster. His way, called the daguerreotype (银版摄影法), became very popular. People could finally have their pictures taken!
After that, cameras kept improving. George Eastman made a camera called the “Kodak” in 1888. It was small and easy for everyone to use. People could take pictures of their families, trips, and happy moments.
Then, in the 20th century, digital (数码) cameras were invented. They don’t need film. Pictures can be seen right away on a screen and saved on a computer. The invention of the camera changed our world. It helps us record important moments, learn about different places, and share our stories with others. From a simple dark room to the digital cameras we use today, it is truly an amazing journey.
36. What was the main problem with the camera obscure?
A. It was too heavy to carry around.
B. It required special skills in drawing.
C. Its picture couldn’t be saved for a long time.
37. Who made the first real photo?
A. Louis Daguerre. B. George Eastman. C. Joseph Nicephore Niepce.
38. Which of the following appeared in 1888?
A. The Kodak. B. The camera obscure. C. The daguerreotype.
39. What can we know about digital cameras?
A. Pictures can be seen right away on a screen.
B. They were invented before the Kodak camera.
C. They were the first cameras that could keep a picture.
40. What does the text mainly talk about?
A. The skills of taking pictures.
B. The stories of camera inventors.
C. The development of the camera.

Founded in 2021 as one of China’s first national parks, Hainan Tropical Rainforest (热带雨林) National Park is a great place for nature fans. It not only protects the environment well but also offers visitors lots of fun activities. When most parts of China are very hot, this national park becomes a popular cool spot (景点). Because of the highway (公路), visitors can easily reach thick rainforests, green tea farms and quiet mountain spots here. Most trips can start at Baihualing tropical Rainforest Cultural Tourism Area in Qiongzhong. It’s like a gate to Hainan’s wild tropical rainforest world. As the island’s first 5 A-level rainforest spot, it’s super cool in summer with an average (平均) temperature of 22°C, and over 90% of it is covered with trees. “It’s much better than staying in an air-conditioned room (空调房),” said Zhang Guangwen, a tourist from Fujian. Visitors relax with tea by streams or catch crabs (蟹) with kids.
In Qiongzhong, you can experience tea culture-pick tea leaves and taste Li ethnic food. Further along, Lingshui’s Yunshang Niuling Coffee Farm offers coffee tastings and fruit picking. “Our coffee has Hainan’s special 18°N taste,” the owner said.
For deep relaxation, Baoting’s Shenyudao has yoga, lake boat rides and forest activities. “Every visit makes me feel fresh,” a Haikou visitor shared. In Sanya’s Jiyang district, you can try rainforest adventures, stream hiking, city walks or coastal fun.

In Hainan we can see blue seas and beautiful skies. Many people are helping to protect the environment to make it better.
I noticed a problem: some visitors often dropped rubbish like plastic bags and bottles near the beach. This made the place look dirty and could harm the sea and fish.
I decided to take action. Every weekend, I go to pick up rubbish on the beach with my family. I also made simple posters to remind people to take their trash away and keep the beach clean.
My actions, though small, are very meaningful. They help make our beach cleaner and safer for animals. I hope my actions can inspire others to start their own. If everyone does a little, we can all work together to protect Hainan’s beautiful environment.
