Our school has interviewed 100 students about their spending habits. They spend a higher percentage of their money on books, pens and paper than anything else — 46%. Entertainment comes a close second at 32%. Everything else has much less. Food accounts for only 10%, public transport 8% and other spending makes up just 4%. It seems that having fun is very important to students. Students don’t spend much on food because they eat mainly at home or at school. Public transport is an important way for them to get around. They should try to spend less on entertainment so that they can save money.

Plan
1. What is the title of the pie chart?
2. How do students keep the money they save?
Read pie chart B and answer the questions.
It’s about students’ saving habits.
Most of them keep it in a piggy tank, it accounts for about 34%. Some of them put money in the bank or with their parents, with 23% and 29% respectively. And fewer students have almost no savings, which takes up for 8%. And only 6% of them save their money in other special ways.
Plan
3. How many students chose “no savings”? What do you think of this percentage?
Read pie chart B and answer the questions.
Nearly 8% of the students choose no savings. I think it’s quite normal because most of the children don’t have much pocket money.
A survey report usually includes:
• a brief introduction of the survey;
• some descriptions of key facts including survey statistics and simple analysis such as 23 per cent of ...; Most of the ... at 49%.; A higher percentage of ...;
• general findings of the survey;
• some suggestions based on the findings.

Write
Write a survey report on pie chart B.
Write about the pie chart
This pie chart shows the saving habits of students in our school.
SAMPLE
Write about the pie chart
From the chart, we can see that 23% of the students save their money in the bank. This is a relatively small proportion compared to other ways of saving. More than one-third of the students choose to save their money in a piggy bank, which takes about 34%. This is probably because it's not very convenient to take money out when needed.
SAMPLE
Write about the pie chart
Interestingly, 8% of them don't save any money at all. This is a surprisingly large number and may indicate that they are used to spending all their money at hand.
SAMPLE
Write about the pie chart
Meanwhile, 29% of the students save their money with their parents. This might be because they are still young and don't have a job yet, or they trust their parents to manage their money well.
The rest 6% choose other ways to save their money. This could include investing in stocks, buying gold, or lending money to friends and family.
SAMPLE
Write about the pie chart
In conclusion, there are many different ways for students to save their money. Each way has its own advantages and disadvantages. Thus, we should choose the way that best suits our needs and financial situation.

The history of money
Discovery
Between 11,000 and 6,000 years ago, people started exchanging things like cows, sheep, camels and crops to get what they needed.
/ˈkæməlz/ n. 骆驼
Discovery
More than 3,000 years ago, people thought shells were a good form of money because they were beautiful and hard to find. Others did the same thing with feathers. The first coin was made in Lydia. Soon, other countries had their own coins. Later, people used gold and silver to make coins.

Over 1,000 years ago, the Chinese started printing paper money. The Song dynasty issued the world’s first paper money, known as “Jiaozi”. Paper money is light and easy to carry, but it is also easy to copy.

About 50 years ago, people started to develop new models of payment. Now, people often pay for things electronically. We use plastic cards, including credit cards and debit cards. More recently, people have started to pay by QR codes and mobile phones.

Should electronic payment replace paper money? Discuss the pros and cons of each method.
Nowadays, more and more people use electronic payments—like paying with phones or cards—instead of paper money (cash). But is this a good idea? Let’s talk about the pros and cons of each.
Discovery
Should electronic payment replace paper money? Discuss the pros and cons of each method.
To begin with, electronic payments are very convenient. You don’t need to carry cash or worry about losing it. Just tap your phone or scan a code, and you’re done! Also, digital payments keep a record of what you bought, so you can check your spending later. This helps many people manage their money better. Plus, if your phone has a password, it’s safer than carrying cash, which can be stolen.
Discovery

However, electronic payments have some downsides. They need electricity, internet, and working phones. If your battery dies or there’s no Wi-Fi, you can’t pay. Also, some people—especially older folks—may find it hard to use apps. And although rare, hacking or scams could happen online.
Discovery
Should electronic payment replace paper money? Discuss the pros and cons of each method.
On the other hand, paper money has its own advantages. Cash never needs charging or internet. It’s simple—everyone understands how to use it, even kids. You can feel how much you’re spending, which makes saving easier. And in places without good internet, cash is still the best choice.

But cash isn’t perfect either. It can get lost, torn, or stolen—and once it’s gone, you can’t get it back. Carrying lots of coins can be heavy and annoying. Also, when you spend cash, there’s no record, so it’s harder to track where your money went.
Discovery
Should electronic payment replace paper money? Discuss the pros and cons of each method.
In conclusion, should we replace paper money completely? Probably not. Both methods have strengths. A smart way is to use electronic payments when possible—they’re fast and helpful—but always keep a little cash for emergencies. That way, we enjoy the best of both worlds!
