Where is this text probably taken from? A. A freshman brochure. B. A college official website. C. An education magazine. D. An advertisement. C 2. C 3. 根据文章中“Part 1: Conceptual Understanding & Knowledge (40%)(第一部分:概念理解和知识(40%))”、“Part 2: Problem Solving & Application (30%)(第二部分:问题解决与应用(30%))”、“Part 3: Mathematical Reasoning & Communication (20%)(第三部分:数学推理与交流(20%))”、“Part 4: Professionalism (10%)(第四部分:专业精神(10%))”以及“Grades listed on the report are based on a 100-point scale and the bonus points are added to the total score after weighting. (成绩单上分数以百分制为基准,附加分在权重计算完成后计入总分。)”可知,最终成绩由四个部分按比例计算后再加上奖励分。Sue的得分为:90×40%+90×30%+80×20%+100×10% =89,再加上特殊奖励3分,最终成绩为 89+3 = 92。故选C。 【2题详解】 细节理解题。根据Part 3部分中“Using correct lingoes (术语) and structuring solutions with meticulous care is essential for high performance(使用正确的术语,并精心组织解题过程,对于展现严谨的数学论证能力以取得优异成绩至关重要。)” C选项正确;根据Part 1部分中“Excellence requires demonstrating genuine comprehension, making insightful connections between topics, and moving beyond simple recall to show true mastery of the subject matter.(要取得优异成绩,需要展现出对知识的真正理解,在不同主题间建立富有洞察力的关联,并超越单纯的知识记忆,以体现对该学科内容的真正精通。)”、Part 2 部分中“and apply concepts to solve both standard exercises and novel problems. The logical process you use and your verification (核查) of results are critically important factors. (运用概念来解决普通练习和新问题。你所采用的逻辑推理过程以及对结果的核查,是至关重要的因素。)”以及Part 4部分中“Considers consistent preparation for class, punctuality (准时) in attendance, timely submission of all assigned work, and active, constructive participation. Sustained engagement throughout the course contributes positively to this aspect of your grade. B。 B Sitting in the garden for my friend’s birthday. I felt a buzz (振动) in my pocket. My heart raced when I saw the email sender’s name. The email started off: “Dear Mr Green, thank you for your interest” and “the review process took longer than expected.” It ended with “We are sorry to inform you…” and my vision blurred (模糊). The position—measuring soil quality in the Sahara Desert as part of an undergraduate research programme — had felt like the answer I had spent years looking for. I had put so much time and emotional energy into applying, and I thought the rejection meant the end of the road for my science career. So I was shocked when, not long after the email, Professor Mary Devon, who was running the programme, invited me to observe the work being done in her lab. I jumped at the chance, and a few weeks later I was equally shocked—and overjoyed—when she invited me to talk with her about potential projects I could pursue in her lab. What she proposed didn’t seem as exciting as the original project I had applied to, but I was going to give it my all. I found myself working with a robotics professor on techniques for collecting data from the desert remotely. That project, which I could complete from my sofa instead of in the burning heat of the desert, not only survived the lockdown but worked where traditional methods didn’t. In the end, I had a new scientific interest to pursue. When I applied to graduate school, I found three programmes promising to allow me to follow my desired research direction. And I applied with the same anxious excitement as before. When I was rejected from one that had seemed like a perfect fit, it was undoubtedly difficult. But this time I had the perspective (视角) to keep it from sending me into panic. It helped that in the end I was accepted into one of the other programmes I was also excited about. Rather than setting plans in stone, I’ve learned that sometimes I need to take the opportunities that are offered, even if they don’t sound perfect at the time, and make the most of them. 4. How did the author feel upon seeing the email sender’s name? A. Anxious. B. Angry. C. Surprised. D. Settled. 5. After talking with Professor Devon, the author decided to ________. A. criticise the review process B. stay longer in the Sahara Desert C. apply to the original project again D. put his heart and soul into the lab work 6. According to the author, the project with the robotics professor was ________. A. demanding B. inspiring C. misleading D. amusing 7. What can we learn from this passage? A. An invitation is a reputation. B. An innovation is a resolution. C. A rejection can be a redirection. D. A reflection can be a restriction. A 5. D 6. B 7. 根据第一段“My heart raced when I saw the email sender’s name. The email started off: “Dear Mr Green, thank you for your interest” and “the review process took longer than expected.” It ended with “We are sorry to inform you…”and my vision blurred (模糊). (当我看到邮件发件人的名字时,我的心跳加速了。这封邮件是这样开头的:“亲爱的格林先生,感谢您的关注”,“审核过程比预期的要长。”信的结尾是“我们很抱歉地通知你……”,我的视线模糊了)”可知,收到的是被拒绝的邮件,所以推测作者在看到电子邮件发件人的名字时感到焦虑。故选A。 根据第三段“So I was shocked when, not long after the email, Professor Mary Devon, who was running the programme, invited me to observe the work being done in her lab. I jumped at the chance, and a few weeks later I was equally shocked—and overjoyed—when she invited me to talk with her about potential projects I could pursue in her lab. What she proposed didn’t seem as exciting as the original project I had applied to, but I was going to give it my all. 根据第四段“I found myself working with a robotics professor on techniques for collecting data from the desert remotely. That project, which I could complete from my sofa instead of in the burning heat of the desert, not only survived the lockdown but worked where traditional methods didn’t. In the end, I had a new scientific interest to pursue. (我发现自己和一个机器人教授一起研究从沙漠中远程收集数据的技术。我可以在沙发上完成这个项目,而不是在沙漠的酷热中完成,它不仅在封锁期间幸存下来,而且在传统方法不奏效的地方也奏效了。最后,我有了新的科学兴趣去追求)”可推知,机器人学教授的项目很鼓舞人心。故选B。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Rather than setting plans in stone, I’ve learned that sometimes I need to take the opportunities that are offered, even if they don’t sound perfect at the time, and make the most of them. (我明白了有时候我需要抓住提供的机会,即使这些机会在当时听起来并不完美,也要充分利用,而不是一成不变地制定计划)”结合文章中作者结合自己被拒绝后得到了更好的职业发展机会,告诉我们最初的拒绝给予了更好的方向。故C选项“拒绝可以是重定向”最符合文章的主旨。故选C。 【点睛】 C As hurtful as it can be for a friend or partner to put us down, it is far worse when we find a critic in our own head that keeps criticizing and doubting ourselves. To break free from the self-criticism, and achieve inner peace and self-acceptance, an extremely important step is to understand the three “parts” of us: the inner critic, the inner victim and the inner observer. The inner critic sits deeply within our sense of ourselves. That means that it — or the seeds of it — was placed there at an early age. For example, if our parents called us stupid or worthless as a child, it is understandable that our child-self would learn to be self-critical and view ourselves with doubt or even shame. Since all humans are imperfect, the inner critic’s message may make the inner victim “objectively” believe what the inner critic has said and feel worthless. On the other hand, the inner observer is a kind of self-awareness. It understands the inner critic’s origin and motivation and, in all likelihood, would not agree with what the inner critic has said — and might even offer a few choice words in response. For instance, it might remind the inner victim, “Remember, even if you feel what the critic has said is true, it does not mean that it is true.” In other words, the inner observer offers a possibility for change by connecting with the two “parts” to help us achieve self-acceptance and inner peace. Having recognized the dynamics among the three “parts” of us, we can start to break free from self-criticism. First, reflect on why the child-self so often feels bad in the upsetting present-day situations. Then, respond to the child-self’s pain with sympathy and compassion. Once the child-self’s pain is addressed, we are able to question or even free ourselves from self-criticism. Though it may be a long process from self-criticism to self-acceptance, in the end, we can find greater inner peace and build a happier relationship with ourselves. To learn more about how to comfort the child-self, let’s watch this brief video, Healing Your Inner Child, now. 8. Which statement will the author probably agree with? A. Self-doubt was born with human beings. B. The inner critic’s message is usually right. C. Parents’ criticism may have lasting effects. D. Many adults are too sensitive to criticism. 9. What is the inner observer’s most important function? A. To find good excuses for the self-child. B. To provide reliable evidence for the inner critic. C. To help us become more sympathetic towards others. D. To challenge our false beliefs and heal us from within. 10. What is paragraph 4 mainly about? A. The journey to self-acceptance. B. The various types of self-doubting. C. The relationship among our three “parts”. D. The benefits of dealing with self-doubting. 11. Where is the text most probably taken from? A. A textbook. B. A psychology lecture. C. An advertisement. D. An introduction to a video. 【答案】8 C 9. D 10. A 11. 根据第二段中“For example, if our parents called us stupid or worthless as a child, it is understandable that our child-self would learn to be self-critical and view ourselves with doubt or even shame.(例如,如果我们的父母在我们小时候说我们愚蠢或一无是处,那么我们内心的 “孩童自我” 会变得爱自我批评,并以怀疑甚至羞耻的心态看待自己,这是可以理解的。)” 根据第三段“On the other hand, the inner observer is a kind of self-awareness. It understands the inner critic’s origin and motivation and, in all likelihood, would not agree with what the inner critic has said — and might even offer a few choice words in response. For instance, it might remind the inner victim, “Remember, even if you feel what the critic has said is true, it does not mean that it is true.” In other words, the inner observer offers a possibility for change by connecting with the two “parts” to help us achieve self-acceptance and inner peace.(另一方面,内心观察者是一种自我意识。 根据第四段“Having recognized the dynamics among the three “parts” of us, we can start to break free from self-criticism. First, reflect on why the child-self so often feels bad in the upsetting present-day situations. Then, respond to the child-self’s pain with sympathy and compassion. Once the child-self’s pain is addressed, we are able to question or even free ourselves from self-criticism. Though it may be a long process from self-criticism to self-acceptance, in the end, we can find greater inner peace and build a happier relationship with ourselves.(在认识到我们自身这三个 “部分” 之间的相互作用后,我们就可以开始摆脱自我批评了。首先,反思为何在当下令人不安的情境中,“孩童自我” 总是容易感到难过。然后,用同情与同理心去回应 “孩童自我” 的痛苦。一旦 “孩童自我” 的痛苦得到了疏导,我们就能对自我批评提出质疑,甚至从中解脱出来。尽管从自我批评到自我接纳可能是一个漫长的过程,但最终,我们能找到更强大的内心平静,并与自己建立更愉悦的关系。)”可知,第四段主要讲述了自我接纳的过程。故选A。 通读全文,尤其是根据第一段中“To break free from the self-criticism, and achieve inner peace and self-acceptance, an extremely important step is to understand the three “parts” of us: the inner critic, the inner victim and the inner observer.(要摆脱自我批评,实现内心的平静和自我接纳,一个极其重要的步骤是了解我们的三个“部分”:内心批判者、内心受害者和内心观察者。)”以及最后一段中“To learn more about how to comfort the child-self, let’s watch this brief video, Healing Your Inner Child, now.(要了解更多关于如何安慰孩子的自我,让我们现在观看这个简短的视频《治愈你的内在孩子》。)” B。 D Psychological science is full of interesting topics, many of which tell a coherent picture of human nature, but some of which create seemingly contradictory stories. A case in point is the tricky and misunderstood overlap (重叠) between strength-based science and the research on narcissism (自恋). There is now convincing evidence to show that narcissism is on the rise, especially in our youth. In my own research on strength-based parenting, it is common for people to wrongly label this approach as a recipe for narcissism. Their argument seems to be that a child who knows their strengths will automatically view themselves as better than everyone else. It is argued that the self-assurance that comes with identifying and using their positive qualities will make a child arrogant, selfish and uncaring. Genuine confidence about one’s strengths is categorized as over-confidence; desirable self-knowledge is branded as excessive self-admiration. Why does this occur? It’s partly because more is known about narcissism than strengths. While strengths psychology has largely stayed within the limit of academic journals or has been applied only within certain contexts such as the workplace, research on narcissism has made its way into the mass media and into our collective consciousness. The New York Times noted that narcissism is a favored “go-to” topic and that people everywhere are diagnosing others with it. The fear that a strength-based approach will cause narcissism also occurs because we unknowingly fall prey to binary (非此即彼) thinking. We mistakenly believe that one cannot be both confident and humble. We focus on Donald Trump and Kim Kardashian rather than Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Teresa. There’s no way that Gandhi and Mother Teresa could have achieved what they did without confidence in their strengths, and yet they are both pillars of modesty and selflessness. When we assume that strength-focus is the same as a self-focus, we fail to entertain the idea that people who know their strengths are, actually, more likely to be pro-social and focus on helping others. It’s tempting to conclude that every young person is at risk of becoming a narcissist but I’d like to stand up for the thousands of young kids I have worked with who are caring, thoughtful and humble—even when they use their strengths. 12. Which does the underlined word “coherent” possibly mean? A. Reasonable. B. Primary. C. Complicated. D. Beneficial. 13. Why teenagers’ strengths are often mistaken for narcissism? A. Teenagers with strengths are always arrogant, selfish and uncaring. B. The public are more exposed to research on narcissism. C There is a lack of strengths in our collective consciousness. D Numbers of people are diagnosed with narcissism by doctors. 14. The author mentions Gandhi and Teresa in paragraph 4 to show that ________. A. they are both victims of binary thinking B. public figures unknowingly fall prey to narcissism C. confidence is quite important for celebrities D. one can be both modest and sure of himself 15. What’s the author’s attitude towards young kids’ strength-based approaches? A. Skeptical. B. Neutral. C. Favorable. D. Cautious. A 13. B 14. D 15. 由文章第一段中“but some of which create seemingly contradictory stories. (但其中一些创造了看似矛盾的故事)”可知,but前后为转折关系,所以but前应表达“其中许多讲述了合乎逻辑的故事”,划线词的含义为“合理的”。A. Reasonable合理的;B. Primary初级的;C. Complicated复杂的;D. Beneficial有益的。故选A。 根据第二段最后一句“Genuine confidence about one’s strengths is categorized as over-confidence; desirable self-knowledge is branded as excessive self-admiration. (对自己实力的真正自信被归类为过度自信;合适的自我认识被认为是过度的自我欣赏。)”,以及第三段中的“Why does this occur? It’s partly because more is known about narcissism than strengths. While strengths psychology has largely stayed within the limit of academic journals, research on narcissism has made its way into the mass media and our daily life. (为什么会出现这种情况?这在一定程度上是因为人们对自恋的了解多于对优点的了解。虽然优势心理学在很大程度上还停留在学术期刊的范围内,但对自恋的研究已经进入了大众媒体和我们的日常生活。)”可知,青少年因优势产生的自信常常被误认为是自恋,是因为大众对自恋很熟悉,而对优势心理学接触较少、相对陌生。故选B项。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第四段中的 “We mistakenly believe that one cannot be both confident and humble. We focus on Donald Trump and Kim Kardashian rather than Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Teresa. There’s no way that Gandhi and Mother Teresa could have achieved what they did without confidence in their strengths, and yet they are both pillars of modesty and selflessness.(我们关注的是唐纳德·特朗普和金·卡戴珊,而不是圣雄甘地和特蕾莎修女。如果对自己的力量没有信心,甘地和特蕾莎修女不可能取得他们所取得的成就,但他们都是谦虚和无私的支柱。)”可知,这一段,作者认为人们的看法——一个人不可能既自信又谦虚——是错误的。由此推知,作者以甘地和特蕾莎为例,来证明自己的观点,即一个人既自信又谦虚是可能的。故选D。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段中“In my own research on strength-based parenting, it is common for people to wrongly label this approach as a recipe for narcissism. (在我自己对以力量为基础的养育方式的研究中,人们通常会错误地将这种方式贴上自恋的标签。)”和最后一段“It’s tempting to conclude that every young person is at risk of becoming a narcissist but I’d like to stand up for the thousands of young kids I have worked with who are caring, thoughtful and humble—even when they use their strengths. (人们很容易得出这样的结论:每个年轻人都有成为自恋者的风险,但我想为我接触过的成千上万的年轻人挺身而出,他们关心他人、体贴他人、谦逊——即使他们在发挥自己的优势时也是如此。)”可推知,作者很赞成基于优势的育儿方法。故选C。 第二节(共5小题:每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 How to Overcome Procrastination Procrastination is one of those things that even the most well-organized and punctual fall victim to at some point or another. Think about the last time you found yourself watching television when you really should have been doing homework. ____16____. So what can students and other people do to overcome procrastination? Deal with your fear Fear is one factor that contributes to procrastination. This can involve a fear of failure, a fear of making mistakes, or even a fear of success. Psychologist Susan Krauss Whitbourne, suggests that challenging your faulty beliefs is important. ____17____, and you can begin to overcome your procrastination habit. ____18____ You might feel worried, scared, or even hopeless when you look at the sheer amount of work involved. At this point, take individual items on your list and separate them into a series of steps. If you need to write a paper for class, what steps do you need to follow? If you are planning a big family event, what are the things you need to do and what supplies do you need to obtain? Eliminate distractions It’s hard to get any real work done when you keep turning your attention to what’s on television or you keep checking your friends’ Facebook status updates. ____19____ — such as music, television, and social networking sites — and use that time to focus all your attention on the task at hand. ____20____. After all, if it was simple there wouldn’t be an estimated 80% to 95% of students engaging in procrastination on a regular basis. The urge to put things off can be strong, especially when there are so many things around us to provide fun and entertaining distractions. But by implementing these strategies, you might find that it is easier to get started on those important tasks. A. Make a to-do list B. Don’t give in to the urge C. They paid for the best treatment. But Saladin’s arthritis was so bad that Dr. Adams failed to save him. Lucie was of course in total sadness. Dr. Adams knew the family love animals. So when he found a homeless dog, he sent it to them. They were so delighted to have this hairy brown dog and named it Lollipop. As for this new dog, the family loved it even more than Saladin. Every day Lollipop would sit at the gate waiting for Lucie to come back from school. When Lucie opened the door, he would jump around and Lucie would pick him up and hug it happily. After supper, the family would walk Lollipop to the grassland near their house. Mrs. Martin was always very careful to take a plastic bag to collect the waste Lollipop made. She never had Lollipop making mess to the surroundings. Mr. Horace had just been promoted to management officer of the community. He worked so hard to make the community a better place. He made strict rules including rules about pets. Sometimes he had unpleasant arguments with awkward people. But the Martins always followed the rules very well. Unluckily, while walking on the pavement (人行道) one day, somehow Lollipop made more waste than usual, obviously something was wrong with his health. The Martins were at a loss. Lucie was crying for losing Lollipop. But they were even more worried about Lollipop’s health. So they rushed to the community office and explained the dog’s condition to Mr. Horace, who wouldn’t believe them. Mrs. Martin called Dr. Adams. After he examined Lollipop, he found that Lollipop fell ill. Dr. Adams proved to Mr. Horace that the Martins were kind animal lovers and in fact they always follow the rules, keeping the environment clean. Hearing Dr. Adams’ words, Mr. Horace realized he misunderstood the Martins. He apologized to them for his improper practice, asking them to bring Lollipop to Dr. Adams’ clinic for treatment. After further examination, Dr. Adams said something was wrong with Lollipop’s stomach, but not too bad. In relief, the Martins thanked Dr. Adams repeatedly and took their dear dog home with some medicine. They looked after Lollipop carefully. Soon he recovered and played joyfully with Lucie as before. They continued to live harmoniously with the community. 词汇激活 行为类 ①解释:explain/account for ②发现:find/spot ③照顾:look after/attend to 情绪类 ①对……担心:be worried about/be concerned about ②感谢:thank/appreciate 【点睛】[高分句型1] So they rushed to the community office and explained the dog’s condition to Mr. Horace, who wouldn’t believe them.(运用了who引导非限制性定语从句) [高分句型2] Dr. Adams proved to Mr. Horace that the Martins were kind animal lovers and in fact they always follow the rules, keeping the environment clean.(运用了that引导宾语从句,现在分词短语作状语) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 西宁二中教育集团2025—2026学年度第一学期 高三年级英语学科期末考试卷 注意事项: 1. 1.Where are the speakers probably? Where is this text probably taken from? A. A freshman brochure. B. A college official website. C. An education magazine. D. An advertisement. B Sitting in the garden for my friend’s birthday. C As hurtful as it can be for a friend or partner to put us down, it is far worse when we find a critic in our own head that keeps criticizing and doubting ourselves. D Psychological science is full of interesting topics, many of which tell a coherent picture of human nature, but some of which create seemingly contradictory stories. C. There is a lack of strengths in our collective consciousness. D. Numbers of people are diagnosed with narcissism by doctors. A. Skeptical. B. Neutral. C. Favorable. D. Cautious. How to Overcome Procrastination Procrastination is one of those things that even the most well-organized and punctual fall victim to at some point or another. A year later their daughter Lucie was born. Lucie grew up playing with Saladin. But as time went by, Saladin developed arthritis (关节炎). The family sent Saladi n to Dr. Adams.
