This year I booked a tour to the farrow islands, and our guy gave us some facts before the visit. The faro islands are located in the north atlantic ocean, about halfway between norway and iceland, although their nearest neighbour is in fact scotland. You definitely don't go to the farrow islands for sunshine. IT rains over two hundred and sixty days a year. On our thursday, we were meant to go on a boat trip to spot sea birds, but the wind was too strong, making this impossible. Instead, we went to another island and walked to a lights for incredible views. While we were walking along the narrow paths, our guy told us that in twenty nineteen, the island was shut to tourists for a few days because volunteers helped to repair paths and put up signs to mark roots, and many of them stayed with local people in their homes. Classic Fun Gym Games for High School Students
Matball
This version of kickball is a team game that leaves room for individual skills and preferences. Instead of standard bases, matball uses large gym mats (垫子) as bases because multiple players can be on a base at one time. Teens have the most fun when they work as a team and run the bases in a large group or create distractions to get the fastest players home.
Handball
To play handball, you need a large gymnasium with lots of open wall space and some handballs. You can work on handball skills and play games on an individual basis or in groups — whatever works for your situation. Teens use only their hands to hit the ball toward the wall and then keep hitting it back as it bounces off the wall.
Dodgeball
There are a ton of reasons to play dodgeball. Gym class dodgeball is highly competitive, requires little equipment, and involves the whole class at the same time. The point of the game is to defeat all the players on the other team by hitting them with a ball or catching a ball they throw.
Four Square
This game is exactly as it sounds, made up of four squares. All you need to make a court is some tape and space where you can tape down a grid featuring four equal, intersecting squares. The goal is for an individual player to get others out and advance to the fourth square, which is the highest level. Any number of teens can play four square because it is super fast-paced and features a line for waiting players who enter the game when someone gets out.
21.Who is the text intended for?
A.Teenagers. B.Office workers. C.Elderly people. D.Mid-aged people.
22.What’s the requirement for handball?
A.Two teams. B.Large mats. C.Open wall space. D.Flat ground.
23.What is special about Four Square?
A.Multiple players can be on a base at one time. B.Players start from the lowest to the highest level.
C.It is only suitable for group work in the game. D.Players should hit other opponents with a ball.
B
There must be few occasions when it would be really rude to refuse an invitation to hit someone you’ve just met with your fist! But I’m in one of those right now. I’m in a rehearsal room in a theatre with a group of actors, facing up to stage fighting director Kate Waters. She wants me to hit her with my fist. But fear not, this is all strictly pretend! Kate, known in the industry as Kombat Kate, is giving a lesson on how actors fight each other without getting hurt.
Already a passionate martial arts expert from childhood, Kate did drama at university, and one of her courses introduced her to stage fighting. When she made inquiries about the possibility of teaching it as a career, she was told about the register of stage fight directors and the qualifications she’d need to be accepted into it. It was no small order: as well as a certificate in advanced stage fighting, she would need a black belt in karate (空手道) and skill in fencing, a sport she’d never tried before. But she rose to the challenge and finally successfully became one of only two women on the official register.
Of course, a stage fight is just smoke and mirrors. In our lesson, Kate shows me how an actor will stand with his or her back to the audience ahead of a planned slap (拍). When the slap comes it makes contact not with the skin but with the air: the actor hits his chest or leg to make the sound of the slap.
In the rehearsal room, I can’t resist asking Kate how she thinks she would do in a real fight. Would she give her attacker a hard time? She laughs, “Oh, I’d be awful,” she says. “I only know how to pretend.” I can’t help thinking, however, that she’s just being rather humble.
24.Why does Kate ask the author to hit her?
A.To show actors stage fighting skills. B.To teach actors to defend themselves.
C.To help actors rehearse an action scene. D.To attract actors’ interest in martial arts.
25.What was a challenge Kate faced in becoming a stage fight director?
A.She could not find a female teacher. B.She had no prior experience in drama.
C.She had to master an unfamiliar sport. D.She had trouble obtaining a certificate.
26.What do the underlined words “smoke and mirrors” in paragraph 3 mean?
A.A difficult technique. B.A dangerous situation.
C.A well-planned lesson. D.A misleading performance.
27.What does the author imply about Kate’s real fighting ability?
A.She relies a lot on tricks. B.She may lack confidence in herself.
C.She might be better than she admits. D.She excels more at performing than fighting.
28.What does the text focus on?
A.How stage fighting can be dangerous if not done properly.
B.The life and career of a successful female stage fight director.
C.A comparison between real fighting and stage fighting.
D.The history of martial arts in the theatre industry.

In recent years, slow living has emerged as a counterbalance to the fast-paced, hyper-connected lifestyle that dominates modern society. Advocates of slow living argue that by slowing down our daily routines, we can reduce stress, improve well-being, and cultivate deeper connections with others and the world around us. But is slow living a practical solution for today’s busy world, or is it just an unrealistic ideal?
Slow living is often misunderstood as doing everything at a snail’s pace. In reality, it’s about being mindful and intentional with our time and actions. It means prioritizing quality over quantity — whether that’s savoring a home-cooked meal instead of eating on the go, or having a meaningful conversation with a friend instead of scrolling through social media while they talk. Slow living also encourages us to simplify our lives, letting go of unnecessary commitments and distractions that drain our energy.
Proponents of slow living highlight its numerous benefits. Studies have shown that mindful living can lower cortisol levels (the stress hormone) and improve mental health by reducing anxiety and depression. It also allows us to appreciate the small joys in life — the warmth of the sun on our skin, the taste of fresh coffee, or the sound of rain on the roof. Additionally, slow living can strengthen relationships, as it gives us more time to engage with loved ones and build meaningful connections.
However, slow living has its critics. Some argue that it’s a luxury that only privileged people can afford. Those who work long hours to make ends meet or care for multiple family members may not have the time or resources to slow down. Others point out that in a competitive society, slowing down could put people at a disadvantage, as productivity and efficiency are often valued above all else. There’s also the concern that slow living could lead to laziness or a lack of ambition, as people may become too comfortable with a relaxed pace.
The truth about slow living likely lies in balance. It doesn’t require us to abandon our responsibilities or give up modern conveniences. Instead, it’s about integrating mindful practices into our daily lives. For some, this might mean waking up 15 minutes earlier to enjoy a quiet breakfast. For others, it could be setting aside time each week to disconnect from digital devices and spend time in nature. Slow living is a personal journey, and what works for one person may not work for another.
Ultimately, slow living is about finding joy and fulfillment in the present moment, rather than constantly chasing the next goal or milestone. It’s a reminder that life is not a race, and that taking the time to appreciate the journey can lead to greater happiness and well-being.
29.What is the core idea of slow living?
A.Doing everything as slowly as possible. B.Abandoning modern digital devices.
C.Being mindful and intentional with time. D.Living a simple life without any commitments.
30.What do critics say about slow living?
A.It is only accessible to privileged people. B.It will make people more anxious and stressed.
C.It requires people to give up their careers. D.It is a widely accepted lifestyle in modern society.
31.What is the author’s attitude towards slow living?
A.Critical. B.Supportive but realistic. C.Doubtful. D.Uninterested.
32.What is the best title for the text?
A.Slow Living: A New Trend in Modern Society
B.The Advantages and Disadvantages of Slow Living
C.Is Slow Living Practical in Today’s Fast-Paced World?
D.How to Practice Slow Living in Daily Life

Sugary drinks, already linked to obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease, may also fuel the spread of advanced colorectal cancer (直肠癌), according to new research from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The study found that the specific glucose-fructose mixture (葡萄糖-果糖混合物) common in most sugary drinks directly promotes metastasis (转移) — the spread of cancer cells to other parts of the body, which is the leading cause of death in colorectal cancer patients.
“To fully understand the danger, we needed to see whether they can make existing cancers more aggressive, not just increase initial cancer risk,” explained Dr. Jihye Yun, lead author of the study. The research compared the effects of combined glucose-fructose to either sugar alone using preclinical models. Only the mixture made cancer cells more mobile, accelerating their spread to the liver — the most common site for colorectal cancer spread.
The mechanism involves the activation of an enzyme (酶) called sorbitol dehydrogenase (SORD) by the sugar blend. SORD boosts glucose metabolism and triggers a cholesterol (胆固醇) pathway that ultimately drives metastasis. Notably, this is the same pathway targeted by cholesterol-lowering statin drugs Blocking SORD slowed cancer spread even in the presence of the sugar mix, suggesting a potential therapeutic target.
The study broadens the definition of sugary drinks beyond sodas to include energy drinks, sweetened coffees, nutritional supplements, and fruit juices. This is significant given that over half of U.S. adults and nearly two-thirds of youth consume such sugary drinks daily — a trend paralleling a concerning rise in early-onset colorectal cancer.
While the findings are from laboratory models and require human trials for confirmation, they offer a crucial insight: dietary changes, even after tumor formation, may slow disease progression. Alongside reducing sugary drink intake, targeting the SORD pathway could offer opportunities to reduce colorectal cancer spread and improve outcomes for patients with advanced colorectal cancer.
33.What is the main purpose of the research mentioned in the passage?
A.To prove that sugary drinks cause colorectal cancer
B.To compare the effects of glucose and fructose on human health
C.To investigate how sugary drinks might accelerate cancer spread in advanced cases
D.To develop new drugs for treating early-stage colorectal cancer
34.According to the passage, what makes the glucose-fructose mix particularly significant?
A.It is the only sugar combination that causes obesity
B.It alone made cancer cells more mobile and likely to spread
C.It is rarely found in common sugary drinks
D.It has no effect on cholesterol levels
35.What potential treatment approach is suggested by the discovery about SORD?
A.Developing drugs that block this enzyme to slow cancer spread
B.Increasing statin dosage for all cancer patients
C.Eliminating all cholesterol from patients' diets
D.Using sugary drinks to activate the enzyme more effectively
36.What does Dr. Yun emphasize about the definition of "sugary drinks"?
A.It should be limited to traditional soft drinks
B.It excludes drinks given to cancer patients
C.It includes a wider range of drinks than people might realize
D.It only refers to drinks containing artificial sweeteners

What Challenges Will I Face With Reverse Culture Shock?
There are plenty of reasons to look forward to going home, but there are also a number of challenges involved in re-adjusting. 37 Some students who faced these challenges and survived them well, made a list of symptoms of reverse culture shock.
Boredom.
After all the newness and stimulation of your time abroad, returning to family, friends and old routines can seem very dull. But it’s up to you to find ways to overcome such negative reactions. 38 Find cultural outlets that you hadn’t tried out before, learn a new hobby or take a day to be a tourist in your own town.
No one wants to hear.
Remember: No one will be as interested in hearing about your adventures or victories as you will be in sharing them. 39 It’s simply a reflection of the fact that once your friends or family have heard the highlights, they’ll feel like they’ve heard everything. So be brief in sharing your tales of adventure.
40
A few people will misinterpret your words or actions in such a way that communication is difficult. For example, what you may have come to think of as humor may be seen as showing off. Be aware of how you may look to others and how your behavior is likely to be interpreted.
Loss of experience.
Being home coupled with the pressures of job, family and friends often make returnees worried that somehow they will “lose” the experience. 41 Maintain your contacts. Talk to people who have experiences similar to yours. Remember and honor your hard work and the fun you had while abroad.
A.People misunderstand.
B.You do not have to let that happen.
C.You can’t explain.
D.Try to integrate your new perspective into your old home.
E.This is not a rejection of you or your achievements.
F.The best preparation is flexibility, openness and tempered optimism.
G.These can be especially tough because they are often unexpected.

It was my twelfth birthday, and what I really wanted most was a new bicycle. But I knew that my family couldn’t afford one. A new bike was just a dream, so I asked my parents for a nightstand (床头柜). I figured that at least I would have a safe place to keep my private stuff away from the reach of my annoying younger brothers. We went to the secondhand furniture store and found an old dark brown nightstand.
After we took it home, I decided to paint it and glue some stickers on it to make it look better. When I pulled the drawers out, I felt something stuck to the back of the lowest drawer, and guess what I found? A Ziploc (带拉链封口的) bag with some papers in it.
When I opened the bag, I realized that the papers were some kind of official-looking documents. And, wrapped in the papers were a bunch of ten-dollar and twenty-dollar bills. “This must be a joke!” I exclaimed. The papers turned out to be a will. Some old lady was leaving her savings for her son and grandchildren.
My mind was going crazy. Was I the luckiest twelve-year-old ever? With this money I could buy the coolest bicycle. Maybe I, could even buy a car for my parents. “Finders keepers, losers weepers,” I started singing as I began counting the money. It was more than a thousand dollars in total. Yet I didn’t feel good about it. How come? “Finders keepers...” the saying goes. But that money wasn’t really meant for me, was it? The lady had been saving it for her family. She must have died and nobody knew about the money hidden in the nightstand. Her family donated it to the secondhand store, and now it was in my hands.
What a dilemma! I could keep it and get all kinds of stuff for me and my family. Or I could give it all back. Tell the truth. No new bicycle. No car. “Somebody helps me with this!” I prayed.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
But I didn’t need others to tell me; I already knew right from wrong.

1. What is the man mainly talking about?
A.His travel plans. B.His personal hobbies. C.His holiday experiences.
【答案】C
W: How was your adventure holiday?
M: It was great! I did a lot of BMX racing. We went up some quite high hills. I was a bit disappointed with kitesurfing because I didn’t go up very high. The only thing I didn’t try was bungee jumping because we had to pay extra for that.
2. What does the man mean?
A.He disagrees with the woman.
B.He wants to guess the endings.
C.He enjoys the reading very much.
【答案】A
W: It took me quite a while to read this one. It had a great ending, though, didn’t it?
M: I don’t like endings that leave the readers guessing. I want the writer to tell me exactly what has happened.
3. What does the woman ask the man to do?
A.Buy some eggs. B.Taste the food. C.Do the mixing.
【答案】C
M: OK. What do I do now?
W: Keep mixing the sugar and the butter and slowly add the eggs one at a time.
4. Where will the speakers walk the dogs?
A.By the river. B.At the park. C.In the forest.
【答案】B
M: Hello, Joanna. Where do you want to walk our dogs? My mum suggested the river but I am worried about them jumping in the water.
W: Well, there’s the forest, but they can get easily lost in the trees, so how about the park? It’s quite busy but at least it’s safe.
M: Good idea!
5. When is the election?
A.On March 10th. B.On March 11th. C.On March 12th.
【答案】B
W: Is the election on March 10th?
M: No. The school basketball match is on the 10th. Actually, it is the day after. I still don’t know which candidate to choose.

M: Buy or rent — we’re not sure yet. My company’s sent me here initially for four years. Then we’ll see. There are five of us — me, my wife, and three children, so we’ll need four bedrooms at least.
W: Well, we have three properties that you might be interested in. One with five bedrooms and two with four. You really should see the larger one downtown right away. It’s in a great location. Would you like me to arrange a visit for this afternoon?
M: Yes, thanks. And then we could schedule a time to see the other two tomorrow.

M: I’ll be available tomorrow at 3:00 pm. Where do you want to get together?
W: Since the article focuses on your work, perhaps we could meet at the construction site of the latest building you designed, the Grand Theater. I’d like to photograph you in front of it.

M: No worries.
W: After that, come and find me and I’ll tell you what you need to do each day. For today’s job, start by looking at the shelves to see which products need replacing. Go to the storage area, find the products you need and put them on the shelf.
M: That seems easy.
W: Yes, it usually is, except when it gets really busy. The shelves become empty quickly and sometimes customers might be angry if they can’t find an item. Don’t say anything rude and make sure you behave properly.
M: OK. I remember it all!

M: This afternoon on The World of Music, we have Anita, a well- known pianist. Anita, what does it take to be a great pianist?
W: Well you must have a feeling for the music. You need to make the music yours. You need to be original and you can’t just sound like everyone else.
M: What’s it like preparing to perform a new piece?
W: Well, you’ve got to practice hundreds of hours on your own to get to know the piece. When things aren’t going well, you have no one to help you. You are on your own.
M: What sort of workloads do professional concert pianists have?
W: Some pianists, like Lang Lang and Daniil Trifonov, have busy schedules. They do more than a hundred concerts a year. Others, like Evgeny Kissin, do about half that.
M: Do concert pianists get nervous before concerts?
W: Of course. I always eat a light meal of fruit and chocolate to calm my nerves. Then I walk around my hotel room thinking about the music and moving my hands in the air.
M: That’s interesting. Thanks very much.

17.Which of the following is the closest to the Faroe Islands?
A.Norway. B.Iceland. C.Scotland.
18.How is the weather on the Faroe Islands on most days of a year?
A.Sunny. B.Rainy. C.Snowy.

20.Why was the island closed temporarily in 2019?
A.The locals were protesting.
B.There was restoration work.
C.It was crowded with tourists.
【答案】17.C 18.B 19.A 20.B
W: This year, I booked a tour to the Faroe Islands and our guide gave us some facts before the visit. The Faroe Islands are located in the North Atlantic Ocean, about half way between Norway and Iceland, although their nearest neighbor is in fact Scotland. For many years, there’s been an airport on the main island, and a helicopter service between the islands. These days, there’re road tunnels to connect several islands. You definitely don’t go to the Faroe Islands for sunshine — it rains over 260 days a year. On our first day, we were meant to go on a boat trip to spot seabirds, but the wind was too strong, making this impossible. Instead, we went to another island and walked to a lighthouse for incredible views. While we were walking along the narrow paths, our guide told us that in 2019, the island was shut to tourists for a few days because volunteers helped to repair paths and put up signs to mark routes, and many of them stayed with local people in their homes. I wished I’d been part of that experience.
A
Classic Fun Gym Games for High School Students
【答案】21.A 22.C 23.B
故选A。
根据Handball部分“To play handball, you need a large gymnasium with lots of open wall space and some handballs.(要打手球,你需要一个有大量开阔墙面空间的大型体育馆和一些手球)”可知,打手球需要有开阔的墙面空间。故选C。
根据Four Square部分“The goal is for an individual player to get others out and advance to the fourth square, which is the highest level.(游戏的目标是让单个玩家淘汰其他玩家,晋级到第四个方格,即最高级别)”可知,Four Square的特别之处在于玩家要从最低级别开始,逐步晋级到最高级别。故选B。
【答案】24.A 25.C 26.D 27.C 28.B
根据文章第一段的“She wants me to hit her with my fist. But fear not, this is all strictly pretend! Kate, known in the industry as Kombat Kate, is giving a lesson on how actors fight each other without getting hurt. 她想让我用拳头揍她。但别担心,这一切都是完全假扮出来的!业内被称为 “格斗凯特” 的凯特正在上一堂课,教演员们如何在不受伤的情况下打斗。)” 可知,Kate 让作者打她是为了展示舞台格斗技巧,教演员如何安全地进行舞台打斗。故选A。
根据文章第二段的“It was no small order: as well as a certificate in advanced stage fighting, she would need a black belt in karate (空手道) and skill in fencing, a sport she’d never tried before.(这可不是个小任务:除了需要高级舞台格斗证书外,她还需要空手道黑带,以及掌握一项她从未尝试过的运动 —— 击剑技能。)”
根据下文“In our lesson, Kate shows me how an actor will stand with his or her back to the audience ahead of a planned slap (拍). When the slap comes it makes contact not with the skin but with the air: the actor hits his chest or leg to make the sound of the slap.(在我们的课上,凯特向我展示了演员在计划好的拍打动作前如何背对观众。当拍打动作发生时,手掌并没有接触皮肤,而是打在空气中:演员会拍打自己的胸部或腿部来制造拍打声。)”可知,舞台格斗并不是真实的打斗,而是通过技巧制造出逼真的效果,具有误导性。因此 “smoke and mirrors” 在此处意为 “一种误导性的表演”。故选D。
27.推理判断题。根据文章第四段的“She laughs, “Oh, I’d be awful,” she says. “I only know how to pretend.” I can’t help thinking, however, that she’s just being rather humble.(她笑着说:“哦,那我会很糟糕的。”
C
D.How to Practice Slow Living in Daily Life
【答案】29.C 30.A 31.B 32.C
根据第二段中“Slow living is often misunderstood as doing everything at a snail’s pace. In reality, it’s about being mindful and intentional with our time and actions.(慢生活往往被误解为以蜗牛般的速度做每件事。事实上,它是关于对我们的时间和行动保持专注和有目的性)”可知,慢生活的核心理念是对时间和行动保持专注和有目的性。故选C。
30.细节理解题。根据第四段中“Some argue that it’s a luxury that only privileged people can afford.(一些人认为,这是一种只有特权阶层才能享受得起的奢侈品)”可知,批评者认为慢生活只有特权阶层才能享受得起。故选A。
根据第三段“Proponents of slow living highlight its numerous benefits.(慢生活的支持者强调了它的诸多好处)”以及第四段“However, slow living has its critics.(然而,慢生活也有它的批评者)”和第五段“The truth about slow living likely lies in balance.(关于慢生活的真相可能在于平衡)”可知,作者既提到了慢生活的好处,也提到了其批评,并认为慢生活的真相在于平衡,因此作者对慢生活的态度是支持但现实的。故选B。
根据第一段中“But is slow living a practical solution for today’s busy world, or is it just an unrealistic ideal?(但是,慢生活是当今忙碌世界的一个切实可行的解决方案,还是只是一个不切实际的理想?)”
D
【答案】33.C 34.B 35.A 36.C

根据第一段“Sugary drinks, already linked to obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease, may also fuel the spread of advanced colorectal cancer (直肠癌), according to new research from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The study found that the specific glucose-fructose mixture (葡萄糖-果糖混合物) common in most sugary drinks directly promotes metastasis (转移) — the spread of cancer cells to other parts of the body, which is the leading cause of death in colorectal cancer patients. (德克萨斯大学MD安德森癌症中心的一项新研究表明,含糖饮料已经与肥胖、2型糖尿病和心脏病有关,可能还会促进晚期结直肠癌的扩散。研究发现,大多数含糖饮料中常见的特定葡萄糖-果糖混合物直接促进转移——癌细胞扩散到身体其他部位,这是结直肠癌患者死亡的主要原因。)”以及第二段““To fully understand the danger, we needed to see whether they can make existing cancers more aggressive, not just increase initial cancer risk,” explained Dr. Jihye Yun, lead author of the study. (该研究的主要作者Jihye Yun博士解释说:“为了充分了解危险性,我们需要看看它们是否会使现有的癌症更具侵袭性,而不仅仅是增加初始癌症风险。” )”可知,这项研究的主要目的是调查含糖饮料如何加速晚期癌症的扩散。故选C项。
34.细节理解题。根据第二段“The research compared the effects of combined glucose-fructose to either sugar alone using preclinical models. Only the mixture made cancer cells more mobile, accelerating their spread to the liver — the most common site for colorectal cancer spread. (该研究使用临床前模型比较了葡萄糖-果糖混合物与单独使用糖的效果。只有这种混合物使癌细胞更具移动性,加速了它们向肝脏的扩散——肝脏是结直肠癌最常见的扩散部位。)”可知,葡萄糖-果糖混合物特别显著的原因是只有这种混合物使癌细胞更具移动性,更有可能扩散。故选B项。
35.细节理解题。根据第三段“Notably, this is the same pathway targeted by cholesterol-lowering statin drugs (他汀类药物). Blocking SORD slowed cancer spread even in the presence of the sugar mix, suggesting a potential therapeutic target. (值得注意的是,这是降低胆固醇的他汀类药物靶向的相同途径。即使在存在糖混合物的情况下,阻断SORD也能减缓癌症扩散,这表明了一个潜在的治疗靶点。)”可知,关于SORD的发现表明,开发阻断这种酶的药物可以减缓癌症扩散。故选A项。
根据第四段“The study broadens the definition of sugary drinks beyond sodas to include energy drinks, sweetened coffees, nutritional supplements, and fruit juices. (这项研究将含糖饮料的定义从苏打水扩大到包括能量饮料、加糖咖啡、营养补充剂和果汁。)”可知,Jihye Yun博士强调“含糖饮料”的定义包括比人们可能意识到的更广泛的饮料范围。故选C项。

注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;

Looking through the donation records, the store owner found the family’s telephone number.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
But I didn’t need others to tell me; I already knew right from wrong. The money, though tempting, wasn’t mine to keep. I thought about the old lady who had saved it for her loved ones, and how disappointed they would be if they never found it. I couldn’t be the one to take away their hope. So, I decided to return the money, even though it meant giving up my dream bicycle and the chance to surprise my parents with a car. It was the right thing to do, and I knew it deep down.
Looking through the donation records, the store owner found the family’s telephone number. I called them, my heart pounding with nervousness, and explained what had happened. They were shocked and grateful, and invited me to come over to return the money in person. When I handed them the bag, they hugged me tightly, thanking me for my honesty. I felt a warmth spread through me, knowing that I had made the right choice. Though I didn’t get the bicycle I wanted, I gained something far more valuable — the knowledge that doing what’s right always brings its own rewards.
