Caterpillars are usually seen as harmless(无軎t的),soft plant--caters..But
on a Hawaiian island, scientists have found a special one. This tiny caterpillar
5 millimeters long, only eats dead insects from spider webs.It even wears
their body parts as armort(盔甲).So scientists call it the“"bone collector.”
This unusual caterpillar belongs to a group of moths()that live only
in Hawaii.Like others,it builds a small silk case and carries it on its back for protection. Most
caterpillars use pieces of wood or sand to decorate their cases. But the bone collector uses insect
legs,shells,and even heads.Even more amazing,it does not use random()pieces.It
carefully cuts and shapes each one to fit its case perfectly, like a tiny artist.
"It's kind of gross but also cute,"said Professor Daniel Rubinoff, who led the study."They
move around like,Oh,this looks delicious.I'll eat some and then put the rest on my back."
This strange outfit helps the caterpillar stay safe.It lives in small cracks()covered with
spider webs.It usually moves at night, quietly looking for food.It eats insects caught in webs and
sometimes attacks small live ones.By wearing parts of dead insects,it smells just like a spider's
leftovers().This helps it hide from hungry spiders.
Scientists believe the bone collector's ancestors appeared about six million years ago.
Caterpillars that eat meat, like the bone coilector, are very special and rare.Out of more than
150,000 kinds of butterflics and moths, only about 0.13 percent do that. After studying Hawaii's
moths for over rwenty years, the team found only 62 of them. This little creature is not just special
-it is also one of the most mysterious caterpillars on Earth.
19.What can we know about the"bone collector"from the text?
A.It decorates the silk case with wood or sand.
B.It is a cute plant-eating caterpillar in Hawaii.
C.It moves during the day to catch small live insects.

2n.a box for carrying clothes or things
3n.a covering made to protect something
Ov.to look around a place to plan a bad act
A.①

①Does the news have the same influence on everyone?Ideally(理想地)
it should.News reporters choose the stories that appear on TV or in
newspapers.Anyone who watches or reads these news sources()will see
the same thing. But these days, many of us get our news stories from social
media, and the experience can be very different from person to person.
On social media, the posts we see aren't chosen by people.Instead, they're controlled by
algorithms(),computer programs run by the companies behind the apps or websites.
3As you use these apps and websites, they may quietly collect your personal information.
They may track your searches, your likes and other things. After some time, they clearly know
what you prefer. With their smart algorithms, they can show what they think you'll enjoy. If a news
story doesn't interest you,you might never see it.As a result, you may only see a very small part of
the world.This is called a filter bubble(信息茧房),
Living inside a filter bubble is like wearing glasses that only let you see one color. The real
world is much more colorful than that. Can we break bubbles to see the full picture? The answer is
yes. Here are three tips you can try:
⑤●
、
When searching for information, don't always stick with your
go-to websites.Use different ones, including those you've heard of but not yet tried.
6.Go offline.Don't trust everything you see on social media. It's always good to talk with
people in your real life.Share what you've read, and ask them what they've scen.Have discussions
with friends about their sources.
Keep an open mind.Remember that not everyone sees the world the same way.Read
posts and articles by people you disagree with.It may not change your mind, but it will help you
understand the bigger picture.

The comer of 71st Street is my favorite place. Most people only sce
an empty lot,but to me,it's a hidden treasure.Tall grass sways gently in
the wind, butterflies fly around, and crickets sing under the warm sun.
When my apartment gets too noisy,I run here to breathe fresh air and
listen to birds'songs.Everything in the comer bnngs me joy.

broken bicycle wheel,and...Worse yet,Mama told me the city plans to turn it into a parking lot.I
was heartbroken.Where would the birds and butterflies go?Mama encouraged me,"Tia,make
others see the beauty, too.Speak up for what you love,or nothing will change."
The next moming,I made a sign,"NO PARKING LOT!SAVE OUR NATURE!"and sat on a
chair at the corner. Many passed by without noticing, and a few laughed.Mrs.Johnson from the
beauty shop even shouted at me,saying her customers needed parking.I felt upset until I saw my
family coming with their own signs.Their support gave me courage.
That afternoon,a reporter from the newspaper came over and interviewed me.The next day,
my story was in the paper with my photo!Soon, friends, neighbors, and even school groups joined
us.We cleaned up the trash, and more people realized the value of the comer.
A few days later,I was asked to speak to the goverment.Nervous but determined,I said,
"This is our neighborhood's last bit of nature-shouldn't we protect it?"That night,Mama called
