Most of the buildings along the main street are eye-catching, in deep blues and greens, dotted with red and yellow to form diverse patterns and designs. Santa Catarin a Palopo was once a sleepy town of 5,000 people, most of them dependent on agricultural work. But as agriculture began to dry up here, poverty came. To deal with poverty and promote economic growth through tourism, a small but creative group of laborers, artisans, domestic workers and stay-at-home moms created the Pintando Santa Catarina Palopo project. The project aimed to paint all 850 homes and buildings in bright colors to change the hillside town into a work of art. “We wanted to paint the houses with colors and figures that represent the community,” says the project's executive director Stephany Blanco. “Families can choose designs for their house that are representative of the family.” One of the most representative characteristics of the region is the blue huipil, a traditional blouse which has been worn commonly by local women since the 16th century. That deep sky blue was chosen as the primary color for the Pintando project, with secondary colors found in the sunsets and the nearby lake to make the design more attractive. Inspiration was also found in local culture, symbols such as volcanoes, flowers, and the national bird ofGuatemala. Each week, local artists, community members and tourists pick up paintbrushes to make buildings colorful. “At first, the idea of the project was uncertain, but now you can see a considerable difference in the town,” Melissa Whitbeck said. “The color of the buildings is believed to improve the quality of life of the people. It uplifts the people's mood and encourages them to be proud of their hometown.” 24. Why was the Pintando Santa Catarina Palopo project started? A. Because of a workforce shortage. B. Due to the poor economic conditions. C. Thanks to the increase in population. D. For the old-fashioned farming ways. 25. What is the project about? A. Building family art galleries in Guatemala. B. Creating job opportunities for local artists. C. Developing local tourism by selling artworks. D. Changing the town into a cultural destination. 26. What is the inspiration of the primary color for the project? A. The surrounding volcanoes. B. Mayan-styled butterflies. C. A type of traditional clothing. D. The national bird of Guatemala. 27. What is Melissa’ s attitude towards the project? A. Positive. B. Critical. C. Concerned. D. Doubtful. C Disneyland’s opening day, July 17, 1955, was a terrible experience. Rides broke down. Restaurants ran out of food and drink and drinking fountains were in short supply... All in front of a national audience of 90 million, then the largest live broadcast in television history on a day that would be known in Disney history as Black Sunday. But Disney’s story actually started two decades earlier with what Walt Disney called “Daddy’s Day”. On Saturdays in the 1930s and 1940s, Disney would take his two daughters to ride the Griffith Park merry-go-round, which they’d enjoy while he sat on a bench dreaming of ways for families to have fun together. Disney disliked the amusement parks they often visited, seeing them as dirty, unimaginative places run by rude employees. He thought he could do better. In 1939 he asked two animators (动画片制作者) at his movie studio to work on a plan for an amusement park. By 1952 the idea had expanded into a $1.5 million amusement park proposal that he presented to Burbank. The City Council, which feared such a project would create a carnival (嘉年华) atmosphere, rejected the proposal. Disney counted the rejection as fortunate setback. By now, his dream for a theme park had gone beyond the space available in Burbank. He searched locations throughout Southern California. A 160-acre orange garden, 22 miles south of Los Angeles, was soon selected. The ABC television network offered $5 million in loans and investments if Disney agreed to produce and host a one-hour weekly show called "Disneyland". The deal amounted to months of free advertising for the park and allowed Disney to introduce TV audiences, particularly kids, to the park. Disneyland opened then. The 5,000 expected guests increased to 28, 154, thanks to fake tickets. After the madness of opening day, Disney and his new park were criticized in the press. The media predicted a quick and early end. But the public didn’t listen. Visitors arrived in large groups, and within weeks Disneyland was a success. Over sixty years later, Disneyland’s popularity continues to grow, with total overall attendance topping 700 million and showing no signs of slowing down. 28. What mainly led to Walt Disney’s plan to build his own amusement park? A. His ambition to expand beyond the movie industry. B. His animators’ suggestion on an entertainment plan. C. His wish to create a better place for family recreation. D. His daughters’ unpleasant experience in the Griffith Park. 29. By “Disney counted the rejection as a fortunate setback” in paragraph 3, the author means the rejection ________. A. brought good luck to Disney and his park B. contributed to the difficulty of opening the park C. was viewed as a financial obstacle to the design of the park D. presented Disney with a favorable opportunity to rethink his plan 30. What can be learned about Disneyland from the passage? A. Everything went on smoothly before it opened. B. It spent $5 million on advertising for its opening. C. People’s enthusiasm for it increased despite criticism. D Only invited guests could get into it on its opening day. 31. Which is the best title for the passage? A. Disneyland: How It All Began B. Disneyland: An Overnight Success C. Disneyland: How It Developed D. Disneyland: A Park with a Long History D A group of scientists, including people from the Royal Society of Chemistry, recently proposed that experiences such as licking (舔舐) an ice lolly (冰棍) should be part of the science class. By licking a lolly and seeing how it melts – the idea goes – children would better learn about melting, and therefore about chemistry and physics. But simply licking a lolly, or experiences such as kneading dough, playing with shadows actually doesn’t help students to learn science. Using examples and demonstrations in the classroom can be a helpful approach towards deeper understanding, but it’s not a shortcut to knowledge. The idea of learning through experiences has a long history. It’s perhaps most closely associated with the work of educator John Dewey in the early 20th century. Dewey and other educators of the time were concerned that an emphasis on rote (死记硬背) learning would lead to “inert (惰性的) knowledge”: facts that students wouldn’t be able to apply to the real world. An experience like licking a lolly may at least be memorable – especially if you’d never done it before. However, there is a difference between having memories for events and having knowledge. For example, between having personally lived through the French Revolution and knowing what happened including its origin and effects, the latter involves a different type of memories – structured memories. These are based on understanding how things work and what they mean. It is the type of memory that is at play when you use a word such as “heavy”, unconnected to a specific heavy object. Such understandings are essential to both scientific learning and our use of language. If you stop to think about it, most of your knowledge can’t be clearly tied to one particular experience. Learning is usually not a one-shot process – think of how much experience a gardener needs before they “know” how plants grow and thrive. These semantic memories derive from a combination of lots of experiences, and sometimes, from comparing and contrasting different things: the difference between two types of plants, or between an ice lolly and an ice cream. Understanding science or anything else is not just about remembering experiences. To profit most from first-hand experience, learners need sufficient prior knowledge to understand what is happening when they observe something in class. If we want students to build up their knowledge of science and be able to use it in future, it’s vital that the focus is on strategies that helped them to transform what they observe into structured knowledge. 32. What does the author think of learning physics through licking an ice lolly? A. Ineffective B. Innovative C. Impressive D. Informative 33. What does the writer think might be the theoretical basis of learning through experience? A. An educator’s work published in the 20th century B. The practical experience of a number of teachers C. Examples and demonstrations collected from schools D. Works and researches done in the history 34. What does the author want to convey by mentioning the French Revolution? A. Understanding how things work is the key to learning. B. Experiential memories doesn’t necessarily lead to knowledge. C. Learning different things requires different types of memories. D. Learning from historical events is different from licking an ice lolly. 35. Which of the following is the main idea of the passage? A. Licking an ice lolly has become a popular way to learn science. B. Experience relies on certain conditions to benefit science learning. C. Science learning is becoming increasingly popular among pupils. D. Knowledge and experience are both important in science learning. Most college students hope to achieve “academic success”. I had brunch with a friend and picked up my new glasses. All done and headed back on the train. I wanted to yell at a couple of people for their rude behavior, but wisely just sat quietly. An old black gentleman entered the far end of the train car. In worn but neat clothes, he tipped his faded cap and greeted everyone with a warm “Good afternoon, folks.” Most ignored him, with cold blank faces. Then, he started to sing. I didn’t turn my head, but I felt a smile in my soul. Many people ask for money on the train, but I always feel happy when someone offers music instead. It feels like a gift. I let the notes settle in for a second before my eyes wandered. A young boy across from me, maybe ten, watched him, swaying (摇摆) to the rhythm, his mother too distracted by her phone to notice. He started his second song and my heart did a happy dance. “Lean on me, when you’re not strong. I’ll be your friend...” I love that song! Without thinking, I softly sang a little harmony with him. Right away, I decided he could have the $5 bill in my purse. He looked tall and thin, but he had a strong voice and kind energy. Life had clearly been hard for him, but he still stood tall and carried himself with quiet dignity. I rolled the bill tightly and waited for him to make his way to me. He held the overhead bar to steady himself as he inched down the car, pausing briefly beside each seat like he was waiting for a sign — though no one glanced up. No one was making any moves to give him coins or reach for their wallet. Paragraph 1: Somehow, he noticed me singing along. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: It was still hot and sticky inside the car, but something had changed. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025~2026学年度第一学期南昌中学三经路校区期末考试 高一英语 考试用时:120分钟 试卷满分:150分 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 What seems to be the woman’s problem? They are just as familiar with working in adult comedy clubs as they are working with children. The Comedy Hour company was set up by John Winterson. In fact, his act quickly became so popular that he soon found lots of other comedians who wanted to join his company. If you’re having a party at home, Comedy Hour can come and perform for you there at the party. Your very own comedian will also help you to tell your guests some jokes and silly stories, and they can join in too if they want. It’ll be fun and very different from any party you’ve ever had before. Here at Comedy Hour, it’s not just about the adults telling jokes. We also offer young people the chance to perform, but we’ve yet to find someone who can do that without preparation. So we’ve set up the world’s first comedy classes to teach young people how to tell jokes on stage. At the moment our classes are only monthly, but we are planning to start a number of others over the coming year. So what are you waiting for? B. D. Only invited guests could get into it on its opening day. 31. Which is the best title for the passage? A. Disneyland: How It All Began B. Disneyland: An Overnight Success C. Disneyland: How It Developed D. Disneyland: A Park with a Long History 【答案】28. C 29. D 30. C 31. 根据第二段最后一句“Disney disliked the amusement parks they often visited, seeing them as dirty, unimaginative places run by rude employees.(迪士尼不喜欢他们经常参观的游乐园,认为它们肮脏、缺乏想象力,由粗鲁的员工经营)”和第三段第一句“He thought he could do better. (他认为他可以做得更好)”可知,他希望创造一个更好的家庭娱乐场所,这导致沃尔特·迪士尼计划建造自己的游乐园。故选C。 【29题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第三段划线句后“By now, his dream for a theme park had gone beyond the space available in Burbank. He searched locations throughout Southern California. A 160-acre orange garden, 22 miles south of Los Angeles, was soon selected.(到目前为止,他对主题公园的梦想已经超出了伯班克现有的空间。他搜索了整个南加州的位置。一个160英亩的在洛杉矶南部22英里的橘子园很快被选中)”可知,在被拒绝后,他对游乐园进行了更好的改造。由此可知,划线句是说这次拒绝为迪士尼提供了一个重新考虑计划的有利机会。故选D。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据倒第二段“After the madness of opening day, Disney and his new park were criticized in the press. The media predicted a quick and early end. But the public didn't listen. Visitors arrived in large groups, and within weeks Disneyland was a success.(在疯狂的开放日之后,迪士尼和他的新乐园受到了媒体的批评。媒体预测这场战争将很快结束。但是公众并没有听从。大批游客蜂拥而至,几周之内,迪斯尼乐园就大获成功)”可知,尽管受到批评,但人们对它的热情却与日俱增。故选C。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第二段“But Disney's story actually started two decades earlier with what Walt Disney called‘Daddy's Day’.(但迪士尼的故事实际上开始于20年前沃尔特·迪士尼所谓的‘爸爸节’)”可知,文章主要是讲迪士尼乐园的开始。故选A。 D A group of scientists, including people from the Royal Society of Chemistry, recently proposed that experiences such as licking (舔舐) an ice lolly (冰棍) should be part of the science class. A Ineffective B. D Knowledge and experience are both important in science learning. A 33. A 34. B 35. 由文章第二段中“But simply licking a lolly, or experiences such as kneading dough, playing with shadows actually doesn’t help students to learn science. (然而,仅仅舔冰棍,或像揉面团、玩影子这样的体验,实际上并不能帮助学生学习科学知识。)”可知,作者认为仅仅通过舔冰棍或揉面团、玩影子等体验并不能帮助学生学习科学,因此作者认为这种方式是无效的。故选A。 由文章第三段中“The idea of learning through experiences has a long history. It’s perhaps most closely associated with the work of educator John Dewey in the early 20th century. (通过实践经验来学习的理念有着悠久的历史。它或许与 20 世纪初教育家John Dewey的研究成果最为紧密相关。)”可知,作者认为通过体验学习的理论基础可能是20世纪一位教育家的著作。故选A。 由文章第五段中“However, there is a difference between having memories for events and having knowledge. For example, between having personally lived through the French Revolution and knowing what happened including its origin and effects, the latter involves a different type of memories – structured memories. (然而,拥有事件记忆和拥有知识之间存在差异。例如,亲身经历过法国大革命与了解法国大革命的发生过程及其起源和影响,后者涉及不同类型的记忆——结构化记忆。)”可知,作者提到法国大革命是为了说明对事件的记忆和拥有知识之间存在差异。因此,作者想要传达的是体验性记忆并不一定能导致知识的获得。故选B。 【35题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是由第二段中“But simply licking a lolly, or experiences such as kneading dough, playing with shadows actually doesn’t help students to learn science. (然而,仅仅舔冰棍,或像揉面团、玩影子这样的体验,实际上并不能帮助学生学习科学知识。)”和最后一段“If we want students to build up their knowledge of science and be able to use it in future, it’s vital that the focus is on strategies that helped them to transform what they observe into structured knowledge. Most college students hope to achieve “academic success”. A. quit退出;B. changed改变;C. started开始;D. designed设计。 A. confident自信的;B. familiar熟悉的;C. careful小心的;D. satisfied满意的。 A. take up开始,从事;B. focus on专注于;C. make up组成;D. check in登记入住。 A. admired欣赏;B. supported支持;C. revised修改;D. refused拒绝。 A. remind提醒;B. persuade说服;C. attract吸引;D. request要求。 A. wanted想要;B. imagined想象;C. scheduled安排;D. arranged安排。 A. movement移动;B. adventure冒险;C. exercise锻炼;D. time时间。 A. suggestion建议;B. strategy战略;C. behaviour行为。 I can’t play tennis! That 9 real skills!” 根据前文“However, weeks later, I started playing tennis.” A. lecture讲座;B. message信息;C. lesson课程,教训;D. responsibility责任。冒号内容进一步解释了该空,“I can do whatever I set my mind on”是我从这些经历中学到的“经验,教训”。 A. flash闪光;B. follow跟着;C. narrow缩小;D. contact接触。根据并列词and和“I just need to put in efforts”,选项B符合题意,努力之后好的结果也会“随之而来”。 There are currently over 3,000 endangered languages in the world on the edge of extinction. As autumn dressed the campus in gold, ginkgo trees shed soft yellow leaves, and students gladly joined the activity. We poured our hearts out on cards — some expressed earnest expectations for the future and sincere love for nature. We then hung the cards on ginkgo branches, adding a gentle warmth to the tranquil autumn campus. This activity helps us ease academic pressure and express inner thoughts freely. It also deepens our emotional bond with the campus and guides us to notice the subtle beauty in daily life, making our school life more fulfilling. I hope you can join us next year to experience the charm of campus autumn firsthand and the warmth of school culture. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Somehow, he noticed me singing along. He looked up and slowly walked toward me, his eyes shining with surprise and warmth. I slipped the rolled bill into his rough hand, and he gave me a grateful nod. Then, leaning closer, he whispered, “Sing with me, sister.” Without hesitation, I joined him. Our voices blended, his strong and soulful, mine soft but steady. For a moment, the crowded train car felt like a tiny concert hall, filled not with heat and impatience, but with harmony. It was still hot and sticky inside the car, but something had changed. One by one, passengers lifted their heads, listening. The young boy’s swaying turned into clapping, his laughter breaking through the dull silence. A few others began humming along, and even his mother put down her phone. When the song ended, coins and bills appeared in the man’s cap from every direction. He stood taller, pride glowing in his smile, and I felt a quiet joy — proof that even in a weary city, music could open hearts and bring strangers together. 词类激活 行为类 ①走向:walk toward/approach ②交织:blend/mix ③抬起:lift/raise 情绪类 ①温情:warmth/affection ②感激的:grateful/appreciative 【点睛】【高分句型1】He looked up and slowly walked toward me, his eyes shining with surprise and warmth.(运用了“名词+现在分词”的独立主格结构) 【高分句型2】 He stood taller, pride glowing in his smile, and I felt a quiet joy — proof that even in a weary city, music could open hearts and bring strangers together.(运用了that引导的同位语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $第一节听下面5段对话。 Excuse me, i'm having some trouble with the A, T.
