B Liu Lingli has been a teacher for hearing-impaired (听力障碍) children for 33 years, and thanks to her help and devotion, more than 20 of the over 80 students she has taught have received higher education. Liu, 51, was born in Hengyang, Hunan province, in 1973. And her first interaction with people with disability was with one of her neighbors, surnamed Wang. Liu was a child then. One day in the winter, when Liu was playing in her house, Wang used sign language to communicate with her. But Liu could not understand what she was trying to say. It was Wang’s husband who told Liu that she wanted to make her a scarf. “Even as a child, I was moved by her kind gesture, and thought it would be great if she could speak,” Liu said. The incident left a mark on Liu. At the age of 14, she decided to major in teaching hearing-impaired students, and gained admission to Nanjing Normal University of Special Education. After four years, she graduated with a secondary vocational degree and became a teacher at Hengyang Normal School of Special Education. She remembers clearly that there were 14 students in her class. Although she was only 18 at the time, she treated the students as her children, and practiced sign language in front of the mirror for one to two hours every day till she mastered it. Apart from teaching her class together, she also has one-on-one sessions with each student for 20 minutes every day. For her contributions to society, especially her work with the hearing-impaired, Liu Lingli was elected as a deputy to the National People’s Congress last year, and fulfilled the heavy responsibility of speaking for people with disability. Her story also inspired more people to do more for disabled people. 4. What can we learn about Liu Lingli from the first two paragraphs? A. She enabled her students to hear well. B. Responsible but rigid. C. Curious and adventurous. D. Generous but stubborn. C While we race into a future where we outsource (外包) most of our problem-solving to artificial intelligence, the greatest threat is not super intelligent machinery. It’s mindlessly putting too much trust in Big Tech and not enough trust in the power of our own minds. A philosophy of artful thinking is a good way to avoid this. To think artfully means to solve problems using not just our brains, but also our hands, eyes, and ears, along with our emotions. This approach taps into the cognitive (认知的) resources that are spread throughout our bodies but often go unused. Changing how we think is hard work. And it starts with a mindfulness practice. Accessing artful intelligence requires being mindful of how we think with our body, how we use our limbs (四肢), organs, and emotions to make sense of the world. Be mindful of all the different messages your body is sending you as well as the different roles and functions your body actions can play. For example, gesturing (做手势) in conversations is not just communicative. These movements often help the speaker to smooth out their thought process and assist in getting the words out. Today, Big Tech is pushing a message of artificial-intelligence craziness and fear. What makes you stuck in it? It’s seeing the same things wherever you look. Big Tech gives you screens, hoping that your attention will always be attracted by their devices. If you want to find more freedom in this AI-filled world, improve your ability to mindfully shift your attention between different objects or levels of focus. Remember everything is born of a choice. Artful thinking demands effortful mindfulness to ensure that what we do, what we hope to achieve by using these technological tools, will not weaken our humanity. As Thich Nhat Hanh said, “Mindful living is an art, and each of us has to train to be an artist.” 8. What can we learn about artful thinking? A. It simplifies problem-solving process. B. It focuses on developing our brains. C. It prevents us from over-relying on AI D. It helps promote high-tech machinery. 9. What is supposed to be included in a mindfulness practice? A. Laying emphasis on nonverbal communication. B. Concentrating on making proper gestures. C. Attaching importance to different body parts. D. Being aware of our body’s role in thinking. 10. What does the author suggest we do in the AI-filled world? A. Enhance the flexibility of attention. B. Adapt to the rise of AI. C Avoid the interruptions from Big Tech. D. Improve the levels of focus. 11. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Artful Thinking Advances Big Tech B. Too Much Trust in AI Harms Our minds C. Physical Actions Better Cognitive Functions D. Mindfulness keeps Us Human in the Age of AI D Plenty of academic research had examined creativity — but relatively little had gone to curiosity. The website Wikipedia describes curiosity as a “quality related to thinking”. But there is a lot more to explore about it — and Wikipedia, as the world’s largest encyclopedia (百科全书), is now aiding social scientists to deepen the definition of curiosity in a study. Tracing how Wikipedia searchers browse (浏览) among topics revealed three different styles of human curiosity: the “busybody”, the “hunter” and the “dancer”. A busybody follows a route through many often distantly related topics. A hunter, in contrast, searches with sustained focus, moving among a relatively small number of closely related articles. A dancer links together highly different topics to try to integrate new ideas. “Curiosity actually works by connecting pieces of information not just acquiring them,” says University of Pennsylvania network scientist Dani Bassett, co-senior author on a recent study of these curiosity types. “It’s not that we go through the world and pick up a piece of information and put it in our pockets like a stone. Instead, we gather information and connect it to stuff that we already know.” The recent study tracked more than 482,000 people using Wikipedia’s mobile app in 50 countries and 14 languages. The researchers charted these users’ paths using “knowledge networks” of connected information. Beyond this, they linked curiosity styles to location-based indicators of wellbeing, inequality, and other measures. In countries with higher education levels, people browsed more like busybodies. In countries with lower scores on these indicators, people browsed like hunters. Dancer patterns, more recently confirmed, were excluded. Princeton University psychologist Erik Nook praised the study’s “incredibly large” range. The authors, he says, brought together knowledge from various fields to reveal deep insights into human behavior. 12. What is Wikipedia’s role in the study? A. Invention starter. B. Quality inspector. C. Behavior motivator. D. Research helper. 13. What does the underlined word “sustained” mean in paragraph 2? A. Appropriate. B. Continuous. C. Enough. D. Brief. 14. How does curiosity work according to Dani Bassett? A. It connects new information to knowledge we already have. B. It forgets old information to make space for new facts. C. It collects unrelated information to save for later use. D. It focuses on getting new information over understanding old ideas. 15. What is Erik Nook’s attitude towards the study? A. Unclear. B. Doubtful. C. Approving. D. Critical. Summer is the swimming season. A swimming pool can be fun. ___16___ Here are some tips for a safe swimming season. Adult supervisors should watch closely. If children or inexperienced swimmers are in the pool, it’s very important to have close supervision. Supervisors should be an adult who can swim well and knows how to save others in a swimming pool. They mustn’t be distracted by their cellphones, or a conversation with another adult. They must take that role very seriously. ___17___ Children aged 1 to 4 die from drowning more than any other causes of death. Keep a variety of floatation devices in and around the pool like a life jacket plus pool noodles or a paddle board. That helps when accidents happen. ___18___ Supervisors should also learn basic CPR. The steps are: ◆Place the person on his back and gently lift his chin and tilt (倾斜) his head back. ◆Place one hand over the other, place them over the patient’s breastbone and administer 30 chest presses. ◆Pinch their nose and place your mouth tightly over their mouth and administer two short breaths. ◆Start again until the patient starts breathing. ___19___ Emergency department staff sometimes see significant head injuries and spinal cord injuries that come from careless diving. This happens more among teenagers and young adults. Prevent this by making sure people are only using existing diving boards that are designed to dive into deep water. Another risk is a condition called “dry drowning”. This happens after a near-drowning event in which water gets into someone’s lungs. ___20___ Call 120 or go to the emergency department right away. This is very rare, but can cause death. A. After all, drowning can happen in an instant. B. Drowning isn’t the only danger with pools. C. Pool owners should be sure to have a fence around their pool. D. Call for help and start administering CPR as quickly as possible. E. The presence of a life-saving device enables a drowning person to get out of the pool quickly. F. That means the airway is closed off and can’t provide someone with enough oxygen. G. However, it’s also a major safety risk if you don’t take the appropriate precautions. This was my first trip to Cyprus with my husband John. At thirteen, Jack still rode the bike his mom, Mrs. Green, bought for him in his fourth grade. He went back home with his bike and greeted his mom, whose eyes were glued to her computer. There was no response. Jack had been used to that since he entered middle school. Mrs. Green had been so busy that Jack could hardly chat with her about the happenings at his school. Jack really missed the days when his mom would take him to a nearby park for a walk after dinner. Last month, when Jack showed his mom his science fair certificate, she just said “Good job” while texting her boss. That evening, Jack waited by her desk for a while and said, “Mom, Jason’s mom promises to take him to bike every Saturday...” Picking up her coffee cup, Mrs. Green replied, “Be a big boy, Jack. You can take some money and buy something you like.” Then she stood up to answer her phone. Last week, Mrs. Green received a phone call from a hospital. When she rushed to the hospital, she was shocked to see her son lying in bed. When his mom was approaching him, Jack muttered (咕哝), “I’m sorry... I didn’t mean to cause trouble. I was just...” His explanation was interrupted by a sudden hug from his mom, whose body was shaking uncontrollably. During Jack’s three-day treatment in the hospital, his mom stayed day and night beside his bed, even though she still had to handle her work occasionally. On the day of Jack’s release from the hospital, Jack asked his mom if he could get a wish from her. Mrs. Green agreed with a loving smile, ready to know about her son’s request. “Could you walk with me in the park after dinner today?” Jack said. “That is my biggest wish.” Mrs. Green stared at her son with a surprised look but quickly nodded. That night, Mrs. Green took Jack to the park where they used to take a walk. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ At that moment, Mrs. Green realized how much her son needed her company. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 潮州市2025—2026学年度第一学期期末高二级教学质量检测卷 英语 满分150分,完成时间130分钟。 生词:allergic to对…… Please get ready to ask three questions in English. B. She was a teacher when she first met Wang. C. She had difficulty in understanding Wang’s husband. D. She helped about a quarter of her students receive higher education. 5. What likely served as Liu Lingli’s initial motivation to help the disabled? A. An unhappy incident. B. A gift from a stranger. C. Her interaction with Wang. D. Wang’s kind suggestion. 6. What can be inferred about Liu Lingli’s teaching approach from the text? A. She does not use sign language in her teaching. B. She prefers group lessons to individual sessions. C. She uses modern educational tools in her teaching. D. She provides personalized attention for each student. 7. Which of the following can best describe Liu Lingli? A. Caring and committed. B. C. Avoid the interruptions from Big Tech. D. Improve the levels of focus. 11. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Artful Thinking Advances Big Tech B. Too Much Trust in AI Harms Our minds C. Physical Actions Better Cognitive Functions D. Mindfulness keeps Us Human in the Age of AI 【答案】8. C 9. D 10. A 11. 根据第一段“While we race into a future where we outsource most of our problem-solving to artificial intelligence, the greatest threat is not super intelligent machinery. It’s mindlessly putting too much trust in Big Tech and not enough trust in the power of our own minds.(当我们飞速奔向一个将大部分解决问题的工作外包给人工智能的未来时,最大的威胁并不是超级智能机器。这是盲目地把太多的信任放在了科技巨头身上,而对我们自己思想的力量却没有足够的信任)”以及第二段“A philosophy of artful thinking is a good way to avoid this. To think artfully means to solve problems using not just our brains, but also our hands, eyes, and ears, along with our emotions. This approach taps into the cognitive (认知的) resources that are spread throughout our bodies but often go unused.(艺术化思考的哲学是避免这种情况的好方法。艺术化思考意味着不仅要用大脑,还要用手、眼睛、耳朵以及情感来解决问题。这种方法利用了我们身体中分布但常常未被利用的认知资源)”可知,艺术化思考能防止我们过度依赖人工智能。故选C。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“Changing how we think is hard work. (改变我们的思维方式是一项艰苦的工作。它始于正念练习。获取巧妙智慧需要留意我们如何用身体思考,如何用四肢、器官和情感来理解世界。注意你的身体传递给你的不同信息,以及你的身体动作可以扮演的不同角色和功能)”可知,正念练习包括意识到我们的身体在思维中所扮演的角色。故选D。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中“If you want to find more freedom in this AI-filled world, improve your ability to mindfully shift your attention between different objects or levels of focus.(如果你想在这个充满人工智能的世界中找到更多的自由,那就提高你在不同对象或关注水平之间有意识地转移注意力的能力)”可推知,作者建议我们在充满人工智能的世界里增强注意力的灵活性。故选A。 通读全文,尤其最后一段“Artful thinking demands effortful mindfulness to ensure that what we do, what we hope to achieve by using these technological tools, will not weaken our humanity. “Curiosity actually works by connecting pieces of information, not just acquiring them,” says University of Pennsylvania network scientist Dani Bassett, co-senior author on a recent study of these curiosity types. A. Unclear. B. Doubtful. C. Approving. D. Critical. 【答案】12. D 13. B 14. A 15. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了一项利用维基百科用户浏览数据研究好奇心类型的新研究,该研究根据用户的浏览路径定义了三种好奇心风格,并探讨了好奇心通过连接信息而非单纯获取来运作的本质。 【12题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段中“But there is a lot more to explore about it — and Wikipedia, as the world’s largest encyclopedia (百科全书), is now aiding social scientists to deepen the definition of curiosity in a study. (但关于它还有很多有待探索的地方——而作为全球最大的百科全书的维基百科,如今正协助社会科学家在一项研究中进一步明确“好奇心”的定义。)”可知,维基百科在该研究中的角色是研究助手。故选D项。 【13题详解】 词句猜测题。根据画线词的上文“A busybody follows a route through many often distantly related topics. 根据第三段中Dani Bassett所说的话“Curiosity actually works by connecting pieces of information, not just acquiring them (好奇心的作用在于将各种信息相互关联起来,而不仅仅是单纯地获取这些信息。)”和“It’s not that we go through the world and pick up a piece of information and put it in our pockets like a stone. Instead, we gather information and connect it to stuff that we already know. (并不是说我们在世界中四处走动,捡起一条信息然后将其装进自己的口袋里,就像捡起一块石头一样。相反,我们会收集信息,并将其与我们已有的知识联系起来。)”可知,根据Dani Bassett的观点,好奇心通过将新信息与我们已有的知识连接起来而运作。故选A项。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Princeton University psychologist Erik Nook praised the study’s “incredibly large” range. The authors, he says, brought together knowledge from various fields to reveal deep insights into human behavior. F. 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 That night, Mrs. Green took Jack to the park where they used to take a walk. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ At that moment, Mrs. Green realized how much her son needed her company. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: That night, Mrs. Green took Jack to the park where they used to take a walk. At first, there was an awkward silence between them. When some fireflies appeared, Jack began to tell his mom the funny happenings in his science class. He even recalled the exciting moment when he got his science fair certificate. Listening to her son attentively, Mrs. Green was surprised that her son was so “talkative” and cheerful. When she reminded Jack that it was time for them to go home, Jack stopped in his tracks and whispered, “I don’t want to call it a day.” At that moment, Mrs. Green realized how much her son needed her company. She patted her son on the head and said gently, “We can take a walk tomorrow night.” Jack asked with a doubtful look, “You mean it?” Mrs. Green nodded firmly and added, “I can also ride bikes with you every Saturday if you like. Maybe you need a new bike...” Jack gave his mom a bear hug before she could continue. Then Jack urged his mom to go home because he knew she had some work to deal with, promising to make a cup of coffee for her. 词汇激活 行为类 ①回忆:recall /remember ②告诉:tell/inform ③处理:deal with/do with 情绪类 ①令人尴尬的:awkward /embarrassing ②惊讶的:surprised/astonished 【点睛】【高分句型 1】Listening to her son attentively, Mrs. Green was surprised that her son was so “talkative” and cheerful.
