A
We've all been there: we go to the gym for a few days, and then we give in because it's too tiring. Even though you have great determination in the beginning, you find it difficult to make daily exercise a habit. So, how can you do it?
A. Plan the time
Take your day and break it into hours on a piece of paper. It's suggested by many experts that you exercise in the morning. Not only do you burn more calories at that time, but it will make you energetic.
B. Choose your exercise
What do you like to do? Whether it's swimming, running, cycling, or something else, find something you enjoy. If doing the same thing every day makes you bored, do something different. Change and make it fun!
C. Set your goal
What do you want to get out of this? Whatever it is, write it down. Put a note by your bed with that goal written on it to motivate you to get up in the morning and actually get out the door.
D. Stick to your plan
Once you decide that you're going to do something, stick to it. Don't think that it will be easy. If you can make it through the first few weeks then you're fast on your way to making exercise a habit.
What exactly does building a habit do for you? Most importantly, it makes exercise a priority(优先的事物) in your life. People who have a habit of exercising won't feel right if they don't get in their daily exercise time.

I will never forget the day when I won the bicycle race for the third time. It was special for me because I set a new record. But what made it more special was that I had to go through a tough time getting ready for the day.
About three months before the final race something unfortunate happened when I fell off during practice and broke my left leg. All I could do was to wait for the injuries to heal (治愈). The worry was that the doctors suggested bed rest for at least two months. A close friend of mine who had just recovered from his leg injury warned me that even if I were able to stand on my feet, I wouldn't be able to ride a bicycle for a few more weeks. It was safe for me to give up because my leg was likely to be injured again during practice or the race.
It was very difficult for me to just stop like this. My father felt bad too. He tried to keep my spirits up during my bed rest. My parents gave me nutritious (有营养的) food to keep me strong. They showed me lots of videos of cycling events to improve (提升) my riding skills. Thus, they were preparing me for the day when I returned to the track. The most important thing they taught me was that while there could be a chance of missing the race, never giving up in such a situation was an example of good sportsmanship.
Two months passed quickly. The doctors were amazed at my complete recovery and supported my participation (参赛). Gradually, I was walking comfortably and exercising too. I practised as much as I could.
Finally, the big day came. I was a little bit nervous but once I was on the race track, the fear had gone. The race began. I tried my best and finally I won the race. The whole stadium (体育场) was clapping for me. This became my most special day.

The first time I realised that I had a love for sports competitions was during the sports day in elementary school. Small for my age, and more of a bookworm than a sports lover, I had suffered that special humiliation of being picked last for various sports teams. The sports day, which focused on individual (个体的) skills, was different. In the Softball Throw event, I got my first taste of sporting victory. Credit goes to the example of my first coach, my father. He lifted weights every morning at home. He bought us all baseball gloves and hats, and in the warm months, we spent hours playing catch.
Once I got to sixth grade and switched to private school, our entire student body was assigned to either the Red or the White team. Throughout the year, we competed against each other in various games and exercises for points. I eventually became president of the Committee of Games. I also played in the field hockey team and the basketball team. And at home, playing tennis, skating, skiing and biking were simply normal things I did. During break time, magazines were also quite popular with us teens. These regularly featured articles on physical exercise. Somehow, my college roommate and I took up the habit of completing Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) exercises every day, a practice that continued into my marriage, when I had no spare money to use to join a gym.
So, though it shocks some of our friends, that early foundation evolved in adulthood into a sports and fitness focus, which is considered important even on vacation. I still love reading and the arts, too. As far as Iˈm concerned, life is the richest with my feet in both worlds.

Sports play a key role in the physical and mental development of children. Although itˈs great to see a child succeed in one sport, itˈs important to keep their activities in balance. Participation in multiple sports enables children to acquire a knowledge of many movement skills. In addition to this, here are some very good reasons why kids should be encouraged to play multiple sports.
Repetitive movements can overstress growing bodies, which later on can lead to injuries. With multiple sports, each sport has a slightly different effect on the body. This will lead to fewer overuse injuries. Also, kids who overspecialise in one sport may end up losing interest and eventually quit. Specialising in a sport raises expectations and may put too much pressure on young kids. Having a variety of experiences will keep children interested and motivated, and even make them enjoy sports without any pressure.
Multiple sports also allow kids to experience different roles. Being a goalkeeper in a football team is very different from being a point guard in basketball. Being exposed to baseball develops better hand-eye coordination (协调). Soccer develops better footwork (步法). Volleyball develops jumping and hand-eye coordination. Martial arts develop strength, mobility, and discipline. Swimming develops full body coordination and strength. The list goes on and on! Participation in multiple sports broadens a childˈs developmental, social, and situational experience. It opens up opportunities to become a better competitor and a promising athlete—flexible and energetic.
Besides developing a wide range of sports skills, more importantly, multiple sports provide opportunities for children to discover their liking. With the help of the right coaches, sports become fun, arousing kidsˈ interest. So if you canˈt decide whether your child should focus on one sport or try some different sports, I hope you can make a better decision now.
32.What will happen to kids if they do one sport repeatedly?
A. They can stay more focused.
B. They can spare more time to study.
C. They can be skilled at the sport early.
D. They can be more likely to get injured.
33.Whatˈs implied about multiple sports in paragraph 3?
A. They inspire kidsˈ sporting spirit.
B. They help kids develop their special talents.
C. They have much higher requirements for kids.
D. They help promote kidsˈ all-round development.
34.What does the author want to express in the last paragraph?
A. Multiple sports help kids find their favourite sports.
B. Sports skills make kids more popular at school.
C. Parents should lower their expectations for kids.
D. Children should turn their interests into professions.
35.What is the text mainly about?
A. How sports benefit kids.
B. What sports children should try.
C. Why kids should try multiple sports.
D. Why multiple sports are popular today.
